Aden of the Shield |
His horse tetheres outside Aden nurses his drink at his table perking up as the Greatsword carrying Half orc grabs a drink.
Heavy weapon. Wonder how strong that one is? Might be worth a friendly arm-wrestle later.
The Cavalier surveys the room for any other potentials. He hadn't returned to Sandpoint in some time. Hopefully the good sheriff would continue to have paitience for his erstwhile recruiter. His employment, in addition to being one of the few fulltime guards, was to act as a recruiter of able men and women of skill, looking for opportunity for a new life. Sandpointwas a growing town, but despite the opportunities there, had had far too many deaths in the previous few years. Sheriff Hemlock had tasked the young knight, now finally finished as a squire and new inductee to the Order of the Shield, with finding some warriors of REAL experience to bolster the towns own rather young militia.
Two new men for the captaincy positions found, 2 dedicated archers to go...[/ooc]
Aden had to admit some small offense to not being offered one of the captains roles himself.
He new why though. Size and Agility made him a damn fine combatant but the two things really needed of a leader, intelligence and leadership ability were definately not his strengths. Thankfully his Order at least did not require such things, simply a strong arm and pure intent to protect the common man.
[i]"Ahh, I'd probably get bored anyway. Better to remain an outrider. Serves the town just fine and plenty of adventure and wrongs to be righted out here. Wonder if there's a decent Bowman among this lot?"
He scans the room,

Agia |
"Hey - did you hear that?" Agia says softly to Sunset and Madwand, nodding in the direction of the table with the cloaked figures. "There was a thud upstairs and all those shady-looking guys stopped talking. I think it was my room, or maybe yours, Sunset."
She rises and threads her way to the stairs, preparing to go up and look.
Aden of the Shield |
Aden continues to nurse his drink but does take note that the large Half-Orc sheths his sword and says something to the dwarf.
I hope he's not leaving. I have some gold to wager if that half-orc is game
He gets up, checking his gear as was his habit (for he forgot things often) and walks over. 'Well met my giant friend, been looking about for somebody and here I notice a giant walks in. Don't suppose you'd be up for a friendly wager on an arm wrestle? Loser buys the winner's round and dinner?'
Aden had filled his quota for soldiers, but this one was tall and obviously the strongest man in the place (Besides him of course!). If he had a friendly enough temprement, he might make the Sheriffs offer to this one as well.
Hashar. |
He looks over to the human, "Bah! I will crush your arm later, right now it might be time for some real fun...." He looks towards the dwarf and says, "If you want to check upstairs while me and soldier boy here will watch them, I have a feeling the fun is down here rather then up there." He gives a grin towards that table of cloaked figures.
Aden of the Shield |
Aden pauses for a bit, then catches on. 'Oh, alright. I won't start anything but if they attack first, I'll certainly help you finish it. Try not to wreck the bar though, the inn keeper is a nice fellow and built this place himself.'
He leans back on a chair to appear relaxed but waits for something to happen.
"Sunset" |
Sorry I'm late. Different time-zones and all.
Perception:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
"I din't hear nuthin'..." Sunset mumbles around the last of her food. Though the brim of her hat tilts.
"I ain't got nothing left to steal..." She points out, then looks to Durgen.
"Right, who's for going up the stairs for a look see? And who's for goin' outside to cover all the exits?" Sunset asks.
"Remember, I'm pretty sure that if it's thieves about, we get to keep a share of what ever they are wearing as spoils of combat..." And there's a gleam of avarice in Sunset's words.
ulgulanoth |
Agia and anyoe else going up the stairs
"Sunset" |
Sunset stands and heads out to cover the 'exits'.
As in make sure any bad guys who might jump out a window have some one waiting for them.
"Sunset" |
Stand under the windows....Though not immediately under the windows, since she does not want any one actually landing on her...:P
"Sunset" |
Oh yeah. Theses dice rollers just love this character...
"Sunset" |
Perception:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
At the sound of raising hell from above, she'll brace herself and pretty much try and be ready for anything.
"Well....sounds like they've gone and poked somat..." She waxes philosophically to 'No-one'.
Activating her Oracle's defense to boost her AC for one thing. :P
Hashar. |
Hashar stares at the table of robed figures and checking there reactions to the screams from upstairs.
Sense Motive:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Still looking at that table he responds to Aden without looking at him, "Hold yourself Human, if they need our help we'll here more screams. I think this crowd might have something to do with the noise upstairs but not for sure....."
ulgulanoth |
Durgen, Agia and Madwand, you all pass, there is a chill in your spine but no lasting effects, you can't see what made the effect only the gutted corpse of one of the maids in the room
Sunset
Hashar
Agia |
Agia gasps in horror at the gruesome sight. Not knowing what else to do, but having heard the scream and felt a chill, she whispers a prayer and sends a wash of energy through the room.
CPE to harm undead, since it's obviously too late for the poor maid. 1d6 ⇒ 4 save DC 12.
"Sunset" |
Sunset runs back towards the party.
Full on, no holds bared pelting back inside and upstairs towards the party! And all the penalties that entails.
"Guys! We've got something BIG trying to fry our @rses!" She yells.
Agia |
Hair rising on the back of her neck from the look on Durgen's face and from Sunset's shouts, Agia follows her gut and does the only thing she knows worked before. Chanting and raising her holy symbol high, she sends another wash of positive energy through the room.
Channel to harm undead: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Hashar. |
"Come along Human, I believe these people know something about this." He waves Aden to follow him to the table of robed figures.
He slams his fists on there table trying to knock over any drinks that are on it, "So boys and girls, your going to tell me whats you know about all those noises upstairs and your going to tell me the truth or else......" He smiles viciously showing his large tusks, "You get the CHOMP!!"
