Vegepygmies

You have all shown up at the town square as the flier said to fight off the Vegepygmies in the Whispering Wood. A member of the Town militia is taking down names.

Male Human Wizard 1

Sarvin looked around at those that had gathered in the town square to fight off the Vegepygmies. Well, he had to do something to start getting his feet on the ground with this 'adventuring' business. There were few better ways to get the power he needed than this, and if there were some meat shields to be gained along the way he'd be the better for it.

He strode up to the line in front of the town militia with much more confidence than he really deserved, giving his name to the militiaman. "Sarvin Wardroxan."

The town square's cobberstones resound with a Kilp-klop, klip klop, as Jerax Hellfire getting into queue to record his name for the vegepygmy job. As the tiefling slowly makes his way to the recording town militia member, he can see the surprise and intimidation on the militiaman's face, as he gets closer and closer.
Finally standing over the bewildered soldier, the tiefling leans down and mutters in his gutteral tone,
"Jerax. Jerax Hellfire."
"Ooh", stammers the miltiaman. "Thank you..sir."
With a sneer, Jerax leaves the queue, waiting for further instructions.

The tall man wearing a horned helmet with the symbol of House Arvanxi walks near the soldiers and points to the tiefling "Does the militia employ slaves as cannon fodder now?" He proceeds to write his name down, doubting the undereducated warriors to get it correct "Or is this a strange free tiefling?"

As he finish signing up he brandishes his weapon of choice, a gift from Arvanxi's weapon master when he completed his training

"It doesn't matter, actually. House Arvanxi will claim the honor of this extermination."

As Asmodeus would like us to be. Praise be the Lord of the Nine!

Roden walks into the square surveying the other applicants with hesitation, quickly shifting his gaze between those present. He looks at their impressive arms and armor then down at his shoddy travelling clothes and sling. He "borrowed" the morningstar from his father, after spending a decent amount of the afternoon scraping it clear of rust, and his wooden shield was splintered and warped.

He approaches the militiaman and his voice cracks as he attempts to make his presence known, "R-Roden Linvail, ahem, re-reporting for duty, sir." He finally manages to straighten up, portraying an air of confidence as he maintains unwavering eye contact with the man. This was his big chance, after all. His eyes narrow and a smile forms on his lips, "When do we get started, sir? I am eager to prove myself." To be part of something bigger than his father's struggling shop. To become more than what he was always told he would become.

Due to Roden's youth and inexperience, I fully plan on playing him out as suffering from a pretty severe case of Napoleon Complex. It won't last long though. Once he realizes he can actually contribute and enjoys killing, he will shift in both the manner in which he carries himself and his overall attitude. He will inevitably become a very confident, very cold man.

A woman dressed in clerical robes with a heavy mace handing off her right hip and a think unholy text hanging off her left hip, slowly walks over to the militia member. "Hello, I am Ileosa Albus. I was sent here by the temple of Asmodeus." She speaks softly and respectfully as she watches the man taken down her name. "Thank you." She says with a nod before looking around at the others who have gathered. She give a smile when she sees Jerax and moves to join him.

A young male Halfling steps forward cautiously aware that all eyes are upon him in disapproval. From somewhere in the crowd he hears, "What is he doing here?" His clothes are dirty and his long blond hair is disheveled and matted in a few spots. He sports a backpack that likely contains a few supplies. Hanging next to it is a mandolin and a sling with a long pole attached to it. A most unusual weapon and probably not really all that effective.

Inwardly he is terrified (even for a Halfling) that today could very well be his last day but outwardly he is trying to display some measure of confidence.

He approaches the militiaman, lifts the flyer up to him and stutters, "S.s.sir? My master sent me to help in the killing of these creatures?" A brief laugh bursts out from the crowd, "Well, do you have a name?"
Sticking his chest out proudly now he looks up at the Militiaman,"Hetfield."
"Well Hetfield, go join the rest." Looking at the soldier standing next to him he smirks, "This ought to be good."

Okay, quick question. I want people's opinion on this, I was planning on taking Ileosa into warpriest when we get our next level. However, a friend has shown me this archetype of cleric that looks pretty cool and gets rid of the channel energy. Which is great because of Ileosa's low charisma.(Yay being locked up in the church for 16 years! *sarcasm*) So which one would you guys rather have?

As with every cleric archetype that makes you choose only one domain... take it with caution.

That said Divine Strategist is probably one of the best.
Master Tactician helps laying buffs or debuffs fast as lightning,Caster Support depends a lot on party composition and so has the potential to be from good to useless.
Finally tactical expertise is a minor, even if useful in a party food lots of melee, ability. Better if you end up buying INT enhancing items.

All in all, good archetype if you choose your only domain well!

That said, between warpriest and cleric I'd choose cleric always unless you have something melee very specific in mind. Even if the Fervor ability can prove useful, cleric's are very powerful.

True. I was going between the Fire Domain or the Law Domain.

Law's subdomains Tyranny and Slavery are rather good, but so is Fire's subdomain Ash.

Anyway, choose whatever you feel will be the most fun for you!

Divine strategist looks pretty interesting.

Isn't there a pretty simple way to get access to another domain?

I saw an interesting discussion where more domains were modeled off of the Eldritch heritage chain for bloodline powers.

But you are right, there is no RAW way to get another domain. Seems like there should be...

@Ileosa: I'd be very wary of going cleric with your character. If you intend to participate in melee, ever, you're going to need heavy armor badly with that Dex. You also probably won't have enough feats to do anything effective with your Str. Warpriest definitely fits things pretty well, if you're planning on doing any stabbing or slashing.

There are PrCs which grant domains, but generally aren't worth it.

Right... but I tend to have trouble with that in 12-person games. Way too many people saying everything in each conversation, and Margaletta's already very non-talkative.

I invited 12 people, but only 7 so far(Hence why I invited 12 people on these boards are like that). You can post-Margaletta fixes her tent and sits quietly in meditation. Posts do not always have to be your character speaking.

Alicia looks around at the other volunteers. Tieflings? A Halfling? They were really pulling in the rif raf for this task. Still she wouldn't be here if Pater hadn't gambled away the families gold. That a Deville would have to work for a living. Ugh! Pater deserved his paupers grave.

But she hid her feelings behind a sadonic smirk and a flick of her hair. She needed funds for her wizardry training, and this would help. And then she would repair her families fortune, and destroy those who mocked and stymied her. If she needed to associate with scum to do this, then she would with a smile. It was the Deville way, after all.

Hopefully they were competent rif raf.

"That's the worship ring for the master ahead. Some of the men that wear spiky helmets come here sometimes, they are the ones that the master sent to find me when the vegepygmies killed my village." Pivenzobili says with a little sadness.

As the party finalizes it's departure from the campsite, Jerax looks around the area. "Hey! If no one claims their vegepygmy heads before we leave, I'm claiming them as mine!"

If no one claims claims the remaining heads, Jerax puts 3 more vegepygmy heads in his sack.
Despite himself, Jerax offers to carry both Illeosa's and Meridian's tents which but him achingly close to heavy load.

"Heads? But the legs are the best part. I kept some legs. The rest taste like old leaves, which is ok as a base for stew, but I don't have that kind of time. " Pivenzobili remarks as he gathers his things to leave.

Sorry. I don't mean to be. It's just that Jerax wouldn't leave 60 gp on the ground. And the golden rule of role-playing is: if you don't say you did it, it didn't happen. I see the need to push the story forward and not have the posts bogged down with interpersonal roleplay posts, but some things need to be said.

I am not confused by why you posted what you did, but by the fact that you posted In-Character actions in the discussion thread. The gameplay thread is actually the best place for In-Character stuff, even interpersonal roleplay posts.

When I see stuff like that posted in discussion it makes me wonder if that is a thing your character did and said in-game, or are you (the player) just using this as a vehicle to remind us to think about it.

I assumed it was actual in-game stuff, but the confusion was there.

Its all good, in the future lets keep this thread for OOC then. I am to blame also as I responded in Character.

Kirk brought it up in the gameplay thread but nobody did anything.....I agree it's clearly a gameplay move. In fact I asked if we were just going to leave a pile of bodies and come back for the heads on our way back but again nobody said anything. Maybe it's part of the confusion with so many players. How much does a Vegepygmie head weigh anyways?

Vegepygmie heads weight is not something I will track too hard for this one shot. People keep brining up the amount of people as if it prevents posts, I did invite 12, 12 have not posted, and some have posted once or twice.
