Good thought. Lemme see if I can find a small town square somewhere and link it. I'm envisioning a big town hall, with the main street (such as it is) running E-W in front of it; the sewer manhole is in the space in between them. To the west are some shops, then the church and cemetery. T the east are some shops. If you head east and then immediately turn left (north), that puts you near the tavern, on the dirt street you came in on. That's where Cricket just went and came back from.

It is my net worst case scenario, knowing that if I hit I cost the BBEG at least a single round of his turn.
Saving Jaegr/myself from a terrible hit....
Sadly, Jaegr still gets smacked, even with the -2 to attacks. But you saved Kelgan from a thrown hammer -- in essence your net cuts Obmi's attacks in half because the -4 Dex from entanglement drops him below the minimum needed for the Two-Weapon Fighting feat.

Welcome to DJ Caspians song mash (sampling) Jamboree.
Anyone want any of this action?
First the Bath house bandit theme song.....
Mash up of Van Halen's Jump and so fresh and so clean....
I get up and nothin' gets me down
You got it tough, well, I've seen the toughest around
And I know, buddy, just how you feel
You got to roll into the Teluvian tub to get to what's real
So fresh and so clean clean
So fresh and so clean clean
Ah, can't ya see me sittin' here?
I got my ass soaking and a washing machine
I ain't the only bandit you've ever seen
Ah, can't ya see what I mean?
So fresh and so clean clean
So fresh and so clean clean
I might as well jump, jump
Go ahead an' jump
I said jump
I might as well jump
You don't know
You don't know until you begin
Now can't ya see me sitting here?
I got my ass and a bubble machine
I'm the only bathhouse bandit that you've seen
You don't know what I mean?
So fresh and so clean clean
So fresh and so clean clean
I might as well jump, jump
Go ahead and jump
I said jump, jump
Into my tub......
So fresh and so clean clean
So fresh and so clean clean

Caspian,
Your net got dragged out with Obmi, but is badly charred and you're not sure you trust it to do its job anymore. Luckily, it should be fairly easy to pick one up in town in the morning -- you saw a shop with rope goods down the street a bit. Barring that, you can probably put your Escape Artist skill to work assessing how badly off your burnt net is, and maybe even to repair it.
(In fewer words, you can assume you get a new net or fix the one you have.)

Are we running away?
You bet your sweet bippy!
Will there be lots of pyrotechnic smoke shortly?
(see answer posted above)
Will Caspian throw up dancing lights as his next action to create 4 torches that swirl around to make firing arrows less effective?
Maybe unless the hobbit just fires up a smoke stick and gives the entire party concealment... ;)
Caspian Barefoot |
Kirth,
How effective do you think four torch equivalent lights swirling randomly in the air would be against an archer?
I am working on the idea of stacking modifiers (sure you noticed!)
My 2 cents
I am the keep it simple DM, -2 for fire, -2 for dancing lights, or -4 total (but that asshat is ignoring armor with those arrows!)...
Kirth Gersen |
Caspian,
If he has no low-light vision, he can only target lights -- and would have no way to tell a real torch from a dancing light. In that case, he'd have to pick one at random (I'd roll dice). It would work just like a mirror image spell!
However, he was able to specifically target Jaegr, who is not carrying a light to begin with -- and from beyond normal darkvision range. This implies that Otis has low-light vision from some source. That being the case, he'd be able to ignore your dancing lights and shoot at actual targets he can see.
A large volume of smoke interrupting his line of sight, on the other hand, means he can't see you at all to target you -- he'd have to pick a square at random, hope someone was in it, and he'd still have a 50% miss chance even if they are! More smoke won't improve that, but will cover a larger area so that you can keep moving without him being able to target you.

Caspian is asking for the terrain report for two reasons, one he might attempt to cross further away from the vampire, while using (halt undead) from his requim lore.
So can we safely cross the stream far away from the vampire?
(ie out of range of some of his nasty surprises)
If not I might use the halt undead to keep him in place (I think that negates 5 foot steps and other nasty surprises).....

Leveling wise..
No addition to BAB nor to saves, no new spells.
I can however unlearn a current spell and trade it for a new one.
Of course the leveling is already pre-planned under a tab in my PC so no problems there.
I can however unlearn a current spell and trade it for a new one.
Question for Kirth: Can I swap out a bonus spell or am I stuck with those?
Jaegr "Knock Knock" |
Kirth, did you make a decision on the Evasion Fighter feat and the limitations in heavier armor. Will it work with ACP 0 for instance? I plan on taking it, but if I need to get my ACP to 0 then I will wait until i get it there.

Argh, my fault entirely -- dropped the ball while holding my new daughter! I'm thinking something like this: the base ability specifies "light or no armor," which translates generally to full movement speed while armored. So, for the sake of consistency, how about a fighter can use it as long as he/she has full movement speed in armor? Granted, that means dwarves will pretty much always get it, but outside of that, it should pretty much work as intended.
(Even if we stuck with ACP -0, you'd have -6 for plate armor, less 1 for Endurance ranks, less two more for armor training, less another one for mwk armor. Using the mojo/numen gain for leveling, you could potentially upgrade your armor to lower the ACP by 2 more and still not have to wait.)
Jaegr "Knock Knock" |
So as a dwarf I do not need to lower it to 0? Or do you want to keep it at ACP 0 (Like say the extra bonuses to Dodge Feat.)
In what way can I use my numen to reduce my ACP to 0? I am interested in that no matter how you rule evasion feat.
Kirth Gersen |
In what way can I use my numen to reduce my ACP to 0?
Chapter 6, "Numerical Bonuses." Masterwork armor cost is for -1 ACP; to reduce it by -3 instead, the cost would be 3^2 * that price modifier. You can fool around with any armor properties you like (AC bonus, weight, etc.) in this manner. Some examples are given in the "Special Materials" section, but that's all they are -- examples, not the total scope of what you can do.
Kirth Gersen |

Like with all the house rules, I propose a vote on it, with me abstaining except in the case of a tie.
Should evasion work with:(A) Light or no armor only (no exceptions)
(B) Any armor reduced to -0 armor check penalty
(C) Any armor, if you retain your full movement speed in it
(D) Any armor, no restrictions
(E) Other?
Jaegr "Knock Knock" |
If I voted I would probably say ACP 0 (B). or at Least light or no armor or heavier armor at 0 ACP
For numen, being that it is a special material anyways maybe I can use that as an in game reason. Maybe back at Fenrift I finally got it fitted correctly?

Groan I am still trying to choose among the various lores
Commanding
Green ear
Mythic
anyone have a favorite?
I already have Requiem (to affect undead).
I am thinking that commanding might be a subtle substitute for leadership feat (since I am not taking it yet)......Also storywise it fits, because I have been in the middle of most of the major battles.

I worked at the Phalanx Crossbow reloading issue from several angles. Dropping massive ACP reductions on the armor and shield seemed the cheapest way to enable it, but it was just that - cheap and cheesy. I believe modest reductions in ACP (greater than basic masterwork, but less than mithril) achieve my objective without breaking the system. I also swapped out full plate for a breastplate, dropping my AC slightly, but allowing me to get to the combination of ACP and SoH that I needed to reload in that configuration. I also ended up paying for a specific Sleight of Hand skill boost (skill boost costs more than ACP reduction, point for point), but I can always degrade that cost as my own skills improve (endurance and sleight of hand).
Kelgan will finally devote the time to proper carving and end up with a pretty fancy pair of dentures. He will also work with the local armorer on some modifications, receive a package from the far reaches of Aramni (new crossbow!), and devote himself to a knightly order.
