Male Halfling Bard 5 (Minstrel)

I think since Burl is still in business this might have some good ideas....

Plus Caspian begining to study mixology....

Nice!

Male Halfling Bard 5 (Minstrel)

No worries Kirth I love any and all short-cuts to DMing that I can find!
no re-inventing the wheel on my watch!

If Caspian keeps witnessing all these fighting styles and adds begginer's luck to Canny defense he is going to be very difficult to attack well...

Male Mountain Dwarf Fighter/5 HP 41/52 (0 Temp) DR 3/- ; AC 27 FF 22 T 15 Fort +8 Ref +7 Will +4 Intuit +4; Fire Resist 8; CMD 24; Init +3 (+5 Underground)

Kelgan, with Shield Other than could be pretty nice depending on the damage. Both of use having some DR can really make a difference (You would have DR 4/- I believe and I would have 2/- plus my 2d6 temp hps in Stone Stance.

Male Hill Dwarf Fighter 5

I picked up Shared Shield so I'd have tactical flexibility.

When I'm protecting a squishy, I'll generally use Shield Other and my multiple AoO's to take any hits for them.

When I'm supporting another warrior, I'll want to use Shared Shield to boost their great AC into the stratosphere. Enemies can't hurt what they can't hit.

There will be exceptions - and I'll adapt as the situation dictates - but those are the basic premises I'm operating under.

Shield Other with both of us having DR and you having THP is a powerful combination. I think we'll have to try both styles and find what works best - that's part of the fun.

Male Halfling Bard 5 (Minstrel)

Just so you know I don't post every idea in the game thread...

no one wanted to hear the "snap, crackle pop, electricity (Fop crispys)" jingle....

M Goblin Beer Snob 1/Freethinker 3

:(

That is totally not true!

Male Halfling Bard 5 (Minstrel)

I guess I will work on that one for Tasarock's eldritch blast. Though the downside is DM (AKA intelligent enemies) know more about what we can do!

Male Mountain Dwarf Fighter/5 HP 41/52 (0 Temp) DR 3/- ; AC 27 FF 22 T 15 Fort +8 Ref +7 Will +4 Intuit +4; Fire Resist 8; CMD 24; Init +3 (+5 Underground)

Its only fair!

Male Halfling Bard 5 (Minstrel)

Caspian kind of wants to send these guys on ahead to Brut de Corbel, Guardian of the Cortland Marshes, to offer their services in atonement for their bad behavior in civilized lands....

But first they need to tell who hired them....

Male Halfling Bard 5 (Minstrel)

I suddenly feel dirty having the man shed his armor.......

Male Halfling Bard 5 (Minstrel)

Ah Cal 3, so far away and never to be used again, will you take multivariate calculus as well?

I remember cal I and II the most since I used to tutor those......

Male Hill Dwarf Fighter 5

Not sure if that class is in my future. Got all the math I need for my degree now, taking vector analysis in the spring (for fun).

Not sure what kind of maths lines up with your courses, but this is what I took this semester, and this is my next semester course. That and a discrete maths course I took previously is all that's mandatory for my degree... I'll be SO happy when they're over!

Male Halfling Bard 5 (Minstrel)

Looks like cal 1
And cal 2

Though I am guessing integration is in the third one.....it was in cal 2 when I took it.

Those are what were Calc I and Calc II at Rensselaer; everyone was required to take them in their 1st year. They weren't too bad... but finishing them meant it was time for Differential Equations (aka "DiffEQ," aka "Diffy-Screw!"), the first lecture of which opened with these words: "Hi! My name is Gregor Kovacic. You will all fail the final! I will give you many quizzes and tests to try to raise your grade, but it will do no good!"

Male Hill Dwarf Fighter 5

I concur with those lining up with calc I/II. I didn't mind DiffyQ, though. It made circuits and springs sooooo much easier to solve (as must of those situations can be modeled by a 2nd order DE).

Kirth, with the temporary hit points gained from Stone Stance, would that negate the penalties gained at 1/2 hit points if they take you back over that threshold? Hadn't thought about that until right now.

M Goblin Beer Snob 1/Freethinker 3

Damnit. Forum ate my long example.
But, yes, if gaining temporary hp put you back up into "unwounded," then you'd have no wound penalties for as long as those temporary hp last. Just like if you're knocked to -3 hp, but gain 4 temporary hp, you'd (temporarily) act as if you had 1 hp.

Two things--

1) Lots of posts overnight for me! If I'm ever holding things up between the hours of (EST) 8AM ~ 4PM, please feel free to take an action for me or skip my turn, as I'm unlikely to be able to respond for a while. (That's from 12AM ~ 8AM in Australia.)

2) What did Kelgan do to block the damage from the cloud for me? Is that a feat/talent he has?

M Goblin Beer Snob 1/Freethinker 3

(1) Gotcha - thanks!
(2) Yes - it's the Shield Other fighter talent. Kelgan was carefully put together specifically to guard other people, because you can't really do that in straight PF, and Heliopolix wanted to try out how well it works in these rules.

Male Halfling Bard 5 (Minstrel)

Per the game thread discussion.

I am looking at the skill section very closely.

page 445 of the pdf.

It seems as a bard my natural inclination for masterwork and item creation feats would match up with making scrolls rather than anything else, but I will be looking at the section very carefully.

So far I have:

Craft (Fine art) (forgeries, sketches and maps)
Craft (needlework)(leatherworking), Profession (seamstress/tailor),

These also seem to be the least encumbering of the craft skills!

Spoiler:

I wanted to create a personal version of a "journal" for Caspian.

Kind of like the father's journal on supernatural

The gear

Spoiler:

Used by bureaucrats, diplomats, and clerks, it's also useful for counterfeiting official correspondence. It provides a +2 circumstance bonus on Diplomacy checks when dealing with city officials and a +2 circumstance bonus on Linguistics checks when creating forgeries. A book of letters is only accurate for a particular region, such as a country or even a town, and only provides its bonus relating to that region. Price 50 gp; Weight 3 lbs.

Heritage Book This collection of genealogical tables, descriptions of common traits found in particular noble families, heraldry, scurrilous rumors, and ancestral deeds provides readers with a great deal of insight into the aristocracy. Personalized version

Spoiler:

Book of letters: (same as official gear, but inclusive of other information.
Blank Pet passes, other official public notices and proclamations that Caspian grabbed a copy of, with signatures, etc. Public declarations, copy of deed/title etc......

It occurs to me that the druidic leaders of lizardfolk tribes are leading the rest of them on. They know there's no spirits around because of that ability...

If you can't trust your own elders, who can you trust?

Tsarok, there is the reason the elders shouldn't let young lizard folk leave for the real world

Male Hill Dwarf Fighter 5

I've been completely swamped by my seasonal job, and I'll likely not have time to play until the new year.

Male Halfling Bard 5 (Minstrel)

I have the opposite problem. I am nearly to Houston for vacation, I will be light on posting also until the new year.

M Goblin Beer Snob 1/Freethinker 3

Damn, if I were still in H-town, I'd buy you a beer...

Male Halfling Bard 5 (Minstrel)

Might move down here one day.

Where did you go Kirth?

M Goblin Beer Snob 1/Freethinker 3

I moved to Pittsburgh about a year ago. Mrs Gersen's extended family is here, and my parents and sibling are closer as well. Houston's got a lot going for it -- I miss the restaurants! And the feeder roads!

Male Halfling Bard 5 (Minstrel)

Love the food here.

The Mrs love's the shopping.

If/when I move here looking at getting my Doctoral degree.

male Hobgoblin (Elven lineage) 5th (2nd level monk, 2nd level goblin paragon, 1st level worghest)

My father in-law grew up in Houston and my wife's grandmother and aunt still live in Lufkin. We get to the area a couple times a year but usually never in the city.

Also as a heads up, my posting will be sporadic if anything at all over the next week.

Everybody have a Merry Christmas and good/safe Holiday season.

I spent a lot of time in Lufkin in ~2003-2005; I wonder if I've met them? (If they live near/off of Wildbriar (SW side), I almost certainly have.)

P.S. Bobby's Bourbon Beef Tenderloin at Lucky's Hole in One is still the best steak I've ever eaten!
P.P.S. Lufkin has a "Kurth Drive" -- close, but not quite!

Male Halfling Bard 5 (Minstrel)

Still in Houston. Having a quite day of not much....

Male Goblin Paladin 7/Teamster Steward 2/Inquisitor 1

I've never been to Houston, but funny Texas story from a Yankee.

Spoiler:
My father was laid off in his late 40s in the mid-90s and, in the great American rugged individualist tradition that unites Texas, Pennsylvania (he was raised outside of Pittsburgh) and New Hampshire, got inventive with how he made his money.

He was (and is) a lifelong NRA member, long-time but currently retired volunteer president of the local Fish and Game club, licensed trainer, former state NSSA champion, etc., etc., he sometimes answers to the name of "Bear," etc., and at one point he landed a gig as the (paid) manager of a gun club...in motherf~@+ing Waco!

I was like, "No, Dad, don't go!" but he likes Texas and packed a bag and moved out there. I was terrified that my parents were going to move out there and someone in the NSA would make the connection between me and them (this was, like, only two or three years after Korresh, mind you) and I could see my mom shot down by the ATF [sniffle], you know, with the family cat in her hands, which those bastards would then also shoot!!!,

but fortunately for me, after the 30 day trial period the good ol' boys on the steering committee sat down with my dearly beloved, impassive, emotionally-distant father and regretfully informed him that he wasn't getting the job because he wasn't friendly enough.

Here in New England, we occasionally grunt at strangers, but we generally don't talk to you until we've known you for two years.

Caspian -- good deal!

Male Halfling Bard 5 (Minstrel)

To clarify Caspian is no coward, he is just small and not thinking of himself as a hero type. Though in tough situations he is all in, but if the situation can be avioded or made better through proper planning.....

Apologize for the absence. Bad sick last week.

Or condolances, depending one's point of view! I was generally opposed, but Mrs Gersen outvoted me 51-49, as usual.

Oh, what's this?
