need the Trap Finding skill. For magical traps
-Posted with Wayfinder
Jenya P. |
Think we might just need to trigger it, or get the ring off some other way? Does Raven have any insight on what's wrong with the cave or the skeleton in it that's giving everybody the shakes?
Zartana |
While she waits for the others, she will detect magic again. Concentrating so she can determine each of the schools of the trap and ring

Raven of Bonespire |
Raven ponders the situation for a moment. "Perhaps, if we are having difficulty with even the trap protecting whatever other guardians are here, we should mark this place and return when we are better prepared to deal with it. "

Jenya P. |
Ah, I'd rather clear it out now. I mean how bad could the trap be? So saying Jenya reloads Misfire, hands him to Kyras in case of some sort of mind affecting spell and strides up to take the ring.
If Jenya survives she would like a grit point back under the do something foolhardy rule. If Zartana would like to scramble out of the way now would be the time :p
Raven of Bonespire |
Raven shrugs. "I suppose, your death is not today.”", she mutters something to herself.

Mardavig |
Zartana carefully considers the trap, it radiates necromancy.
Jenya walk's blithely into the area of affect. I hereby award you the "I find traps with my boots" achievement possessed by many fine barbarians and people who simply want to get on with it already.
Jenya dodges a necrotic ray of exhaustion and then the trap kicks down to a lower level of energy and will now spend 1 hour recharging.
There are three other exits from the room. Zartana's piercing darkvision reveals the passages to the side lead to duplicate rooms that seem to contain standing funeral biers.
To the front is a larger room in which she can clearly see a stone catafalque, upon which rests a withered corpse.
Zartana |
Zartana will pick up the ring and examine it Detect magic, concentrate, then hand it to someone who can maybe identify it
Then spotting the corpse, she will hush the people present
That corpse it withered, but the one here is a skeleton, i don't trust that thing on the catafalque. This i think is more Raven's domain
Zartana |
No need for the detect magic :P just the spellcraft. unless you need the DM to use KA? :P
Raven of Bonespire |
Raven raises an eyebrow at Zartana, but knows her friend is right. Muttering a prayer to the Queen of Ravens, she steps forth towards the withered corpse to determine its state.
Cast Shield of Faith on Self..
Know (Religion): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Heal: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Zartana |
Well, she is a cleric and a priest, she should know a thing or two about undead :P
Mardavig |
Ring of Sustenance
Raven looks but her eyes cannot pierce the gloom, like Zartana's. She reaches into herself and feels what the Queen of Ravens has to say to her.
At that instant you hear stone shattering on either side of you, in the rooms to the north and south. Something is emerging from the biers.
Raven of Bonespire |
"Undead!", Raven yells.
if this is the start of combat, raven readies to cast cure light wounds on the corpse near her if it moves.

Did the achievement come with one free grit point? :)
Ah, by Desna. Things aren't staying dead here! Jenya shouts taking Misfire back from Kyras and swinging the pistol south and North.
Zartana |
she grumbles
Knew it... then fades to hide behind *something*
Stealth: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16
Mardavig |
I'll grant a grit point.
Here you go, enjoy smashing skeletons.
Initative
Alanya the eidolon |
Jenya P. |
Jenya five foot steps away from the trapped area and readies a shot against anything that comes in within 20 feet from the North.
Taking shot roll now
Point Blank shot on touch: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 151d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Mardavig |
The skeletons rattle towards you from both directions. They have darkvision, so unless Zartana chose to enter the room to the east they have no problem seeing her and attacking.
Jenya fires her pistol at the skeleton and nearly blows a hole through it's head, but it is not impeded by the lack of a face so it continues to fight.
Alanya go a head and do your attack.
To the north the skeletons attack Zartana (unless she left) and White Eagle. Their rusty weapon miss, in any case.
To the south I suspect Alanya will demolish one of the skeletons, but if it survives it will attack her and Raven.
The one facing Raven hits for 5 damage
Group B
Akiros swings his sword at the one that attacked Raven, crushing it's skull, it falls to the ground, re-dead.
Zartana |
Map As mentioned, she would hide behind anything she could, closest would be the corner then
She draws her Blunt Arrow and fires a shot at the skeleton attacking Raven
Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
Crunch: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Mardavig |
Alanya tears apart the skeleton closes to her, and Zartana destroys another one.
All the southern skeletons have been smashed, one of the northern ones is injured.
Raven of Bonespire |
Wow...accurate skellies aren't they?
Raven glowers at the remaining undead. Touching her hand to Akiros' shoulder she seethes out. "Destroy them."

Jenya P. |
Jenya five steps away again and reloading with a paper cartridge tries to put down the injured skeleton for sure. If killed by someone else then move shot to another one of the skeletons.
Point Blank shot on touch: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 291d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Chief White Eagle |
White eagle has not ventured into crypts before. this is a new experience for him. his eyes adjusting to the light and he adjusts to the more cramped quarters. the skeleton right there does in fact pose a threat.
pulling his hand axe he strikes at the skeleton right beside him
axe chop!: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
damage if a hit: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Mardavig |
White Eagle chops at his bony opponent, and strikes it, but lacking flesh it does not seem as harmed as other opponents might after such a blow.
Round 2
Jenya fires her pistol and reduces the one injured skeleton to dust.
Alanya swings her claws and tears one skeleton apart.
With one skeleton remaining he steps up to the eidolon and swings his rusty saber, which goes nowhere near her.
Zartana |
She spits and draws another arrow, knocking it and letting it fly at the last skeleton
Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
Crunch!: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Mardavig |
Indeed the final skeleton dies under the blunted arrow's assault.
Rising from the bier is this figure.
He will be going last in initiative, so feel free to continue as one group, after Zartana.
The light currently available is a light spell present in the center room, which provides bright light for 20 feet and dim light for 20 beyond that. this means the lonely warrior is still in darkness for most of you until that light is moved.
Zartana |
"I knew it, I knew it! Gruesome undead, vile... gah!"
She warns her companions and moves back
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26 Faerie Fire
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Jenya P. |
Assuming that means skellie over there is lit up like a Christmas tree
Jenya moves up as far as she can, reloads with a paper cartridge and readies a shot for when the risen warrior comes within 20 feet.
Readied point blank shot on touch with up close and deadly: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 111d8 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 2 + (4) = 8
Got the RNG hates me right now. Anyway reading the text of Up Close and Deadly it seems like it'll take 2 damage anyway. Despite the misfire.
Raven of Bonespire |
Has Akiros used the Battle Rage I gave him earlier? if so, Raven will give it to him again. If not, she will heal herself for..
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Ok quick question...who is Akiros? cause right now him and the ediolon are about to get pummeled by CWE's spell.
actually if the ediolon decides to not advance then she will be out of it but Akiros will get the full brunt of his last attack spell.
CWE steps forward behind the group chanting in his native tounge, Pisue Mu. Amsag Uetes. Pipteg Uetes. Pisue Mu
and the entire section of the crypts around the skeleton erupts in a sudden explosion of of rock and earth.
dealing 2d6 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3 bludgeoning damage (no save).
all squares out to where Alanya is currently at,(she is in the area as well), takes the damage and all squares are difficult terrain

As she said. A defector. We saved him from the SL. And he joined Raven

Raven of Bonespire |
Echoes the above about Akiros...
Raven, feeling her Goddess through her, casts a spell to allow her to better see this creature as she moves in to assist Akiros in combat. "My Queen grant me your light that we may send this foul creature to face your true judgment."
Cast Light on Ravenclaw and move towards creature.

Mardavig |
The creature, and Akiros are struck by White Eagle's spell.
Akiros is struck with a mighty blow from the creatures weapon, worse still than the wound is that his hair turns white and he seems to age several years all at once. Undeterred Akiros maintains his battle, stance, but it is clear he cannot take many more such wounds. The Creature on the other hand only seems to grow stronger.
It laughs, a dry hoarse whisper of a laugh. "Come mortals, dance the bone dance with with me."
Round 2, of this second part of the same combat with the skeletons.
Akiros is undeterred by his wounds or the dirt shower he just took. He fights with fury and no small amount of skill, but his sword does not penetrate the creature's defenses. Despite it's advanced decomposition, it is a master of combat.
You are all up.
Jenya P. |
Jenya mutters a curse and rushes within 20 feet of the dead warrior and...
Well I suppose technically this isn't a readied shot so it's not the same one as the fumbled one from before but then again a roll is a roll. So... I throw myself at your mercy Mardavig. Should I roll the attack again or roll on the fumble chart?
Raven of Bonespire |
Know Religion: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 What kind of undead is this?
Raven had heard of undead doing powerful things to the living, but seeing Akiros age before her very eyes was new. This creature had been away from Death's Touch for too long. "Time to send you back to the Queen for judgment! Akiros get out of there, you'll only get killed early."
As she speaks her hand grasps at the creature, it's dark energy seeping towards her.
Touch Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

I intimidated a gargoyle into leaving me alone...if it's sentient it has a sense of self preservation, non?
Mardavig |
jenya's pistol suffers misfire. #24 Lost the target -4 penatly on all attack rolls for 1 round.
The creature bats away Raven's hand with his shield. Her spell remains charged in her hand. Perhaps too late she recognises the creature as a Cairn Wight although this creature also has the skills of a warrior.
It's sword is rusted and broken but it wields it as though it fresh freshly forged, and with deadly skill.
"You do not equal the skill of the Lonely Warrior, my kin desecrated and forgot me, yours will do the same when I am done with you."
