Selena the Elfen Feline |
"Politics, here, Ha!" She says at the absurd notion, as she continues to sort. "Bandits dispersed, now we just have to deal with the indigenous life."
GM Wolf |
The scepter begins to speak to Fizzy's head as well, 'Yes we don't want you to pop like a magic missile. The constructs will listen to the wielder of the scepter, just like the magic of the caves can be easily weilded as well. She has an excellent lineage to work with, otherwise let me analyze the other female.' You don't like how slimy this item sounds.
Soon enough Krazok comes down the tunnel cutting as he comes.
Krazok Vell Firesource |
"Ho! How goes it with you, the vile swarm of spiders has been handled. If you don't need anything else, I will be checking the South tunnel for more of the vermin. Dear blue haired lady, I left plenty of the diminutive or smaller spiders to make their lovely webs for you." He bows to her and looks to be in a wonderful mood. The axe head is glowing red and they seem to be emanating heat.
Fizzwiddle Glockenfleffor XXII |
Fizzy visibly begins to pout.
it seems I am not allowed to control this, at least that is what Fizzmetal tells me. The scepter thinks Fuzzwiddle or Bluefizz should control the spiders..
He plops on the ground and summons a pie and begins to eat. The fuzz quickly joins
Blienka |
Blienka is about to respond to Calathes when Fizzy speaks up. She is unsure how to interpret either comment, but responds to the warrior first.
I understand politics. My family was forced to flee Brevoy because of politics. My parents were killed because of politics. If you intend to run this land on politics, I certainly hope you are ready for a lot of bloodshed, for that is all that I have seen from politics.
She then looks down at Fizzy:
You know full well the last thing I will do is "control" a living creature, even an eight legged one. If that strange scepter is designed to control things, then perhaps we should see if it can be turned off or destroyed so that it does not fall into the hands of some evil person who would use it to destroy the beauty of life.
Blienka |
Blienka looks down at the evil green glowing scepter.
Until I know what it is and what it does, I would prefer to not play with this. I unfortunately have not asked Shelyn for the ability to discern magical auras this day. So, I think that we should wrap it up and secure it until we have had further time to discern what it is.
Calathes the Crimson |
@Blienka
I am not a man who practices the political idiocy that engulfs Galt and that will soon engulf Brevoy. I have a clear goal, the reclamation of Cheliax from Asmodeus and his "pets". To achieve that goal I will unite all of the River Kingdoms whether by blood and iron or with a tongue wrought of quicksilver.
Krazok Vell Firesource |
Krazok looks at the group with a dour look then shrugs and goes down the Southern tunnel/hallway. A few splat sounds can be heard as he goes.
Selena the Elfen Feline |
"The River Kingdoms, well good luck in that endeavor, plus you are a bit in the wrong region if you want to bring those brigands together under one rule." She says offhandedly and chuckles at the absurdity of such a thing happening. She continues to sort and listen.
Calathes the Crimson |
I would first proceed to secure the Stolen Lands before going on such a campaign, I am no fool. I will first build these lands up on the four pillars of rule steel, gold, magic and allies. When this process is done I will turn my eyes to the River Kingdoms, at the very minimum I will need to reach and secure the Kallas lake.
From there springs the Sellen river on it's way into the Inner Sea, if that river way can be secured I will gain access to the Inner Sea. From there the way to Cheliax is clear, I may not live to see the reclamation of Cheliax but perhaps my fellow countrymen might...
Fizzwiddle Glockenfleffor XXII |
Seems to me that I am the only one who was given the original charter. I think you should use the words "we" a bit more and "I" a bit less. I would never want to be a king myself, but I would never support someone that is wrapped up in themselves either. Fizzy says rather thoughtfully, though he loses a bit of authority due to the blueberries dripping off his face
Calathes the Crimson |
I would not be a tyrant, it might seem profitable in the short term but history has shown that tyrants rarely die of old age... As for the original charter that may not matter in the long term, the authority that gave it will be descending into civil war soon. Hence the reason why the regency has given out the charter, they desire a buffer zone so that their rivals will not be able to call upon allies from the River Kingdoms...
As for you Fizzwiddle what exactly is your stake in all of this, you seem not to be the type who desires power for either your own use or for the betterment of your fellows.
Fizzwiddle Glockenfleffor XXII |
I have lived for a long time. I have traveled with hundreds of Adventurers, some have stayed with me, others have not, all that have been close have died. Whatever place I help create will be one where we work together to make a happy place for all. I want a place to make pie, sing and tell jokes. Where the Fizz may brighten everyone life. A place where my friends may live and no more of them will die. I am tired of being the only one left.
I do not desire power, but if I must be given it then I will do what I must and move on.
Blienka |
Blienka listens to the others before responding to Calathes:
While you goals are good, they are certainly farsighted. Just taming these Stolen Lands is something that many have tried and none have succeeded at in many years. My an . . . the Rogvarian rulers united the lands to the north. They were able to control the feuding nobles beneath them, but since they suddenly disappeared, Brevoy, as you mentioned, has been slowly falling into squabbling noble fiefdoms.
For now, I hope to help you all tame this land so that the beauty can be experienced by all. To make a land where people can live happily and safely without fear of attack from monsters or their neighbors.
Blienka |
Blienka, who is beginning to once more look about the room and the fine stonework that peeks out from behind the webs in places, turns back to Calathes.
Bloodshed should always be the last option. There are many creatures who can only be responded to with force. However, no land has ever prospered under the sole rule of an iron fist. If we wish for an intelligent land where the arts and the sciences can flourish, a land with parks and monuments to great deeds, then we must rule with a temperate hand.
There are many who only respect might. I personally would not want to live in, let alone rule, a nation that consisted only of those bent on rule by force.
Realizing that there will be plenty of time for such discussions later over a campfire, Blienka gets up and heads after Krazok to see what lies down the southern tunnel.
GM Wolf |
Calathes the Crimson |
I do wish for such a land but first the land under our feet must be tamed and the only way to do that will be with blood and iron, diplomacy only works when their is a significant force behind it. You will not stop an army at your borders with eloquence, you will stop it with an a thousand crimson blades set against the rising sun...
GM Wolf |
That is correct Fizzy, you might understand the basics of the scepter better if you had done a better check.
It continues though in a different path than before, 'The halls can do many things though with the right resources and time they can be adjusted for most anything. They can fulfil most roles, such as an alchemy lab to help brew potions, a dueling/training chamber to help practice spells and improve on them, a mineral spring to help recover from wounds, an obstacle course to help develop dexterity and strength based skills. Perhaps the one called Calathes is more like my previous master one who wants to rule. I could give him strength and help him in the plans he talks about.'
Fizzwiddle Glockenfleffor XXII |
Fizzy pipes up. These rooms are magical! They can be made into various training rooms and crafting rooms and healing rooms. We should get people to come make an underground town! We can have the scepter ask the spiders to leave!.
Fizzy waves selena over
Blienka |
Blienka looks down at Fizzy:
Are you talking to the scepter? I really do not think that is a wise choice. Look how the last person to use that scepter ended up. She points to the skeleton.
It is hard to determine the sequence of events. We have Fizzy talking to the scepter. Calathes talking to Fizzy and me. And Krazok wandering down the south tunnel. Blienka would follow Krazok, but would not want to leave the others behind, and would prefer to finish the conversations before heading off.
Sorry for the confusion.
Fizzwiddle Glockenfleffor XXII |
yea, that happens sometimes. I will wrap up ASAP, basically I am learning about the place and the scepter, but since I whiffed on my arcana check earlier I have to do it the slow way
Yes I am. It is nice enough. A little bit oily and selfish, but it is not a bad thing. It just needs to be held by the right person. Someone who would not abuse power, and do bad things.
He looks at the skeleton
I wil find out what happened to him
GM Wolf |
Confusion does happen we just need to communicate and it might happen less. I have been keeping sequence of events rather as we go right now. Your group has been talking and when the scepter got back to Fizzy's possession it started talking to him. Sometimes you will need to make a decision and it looks like Blienka chose to finish the conversation with the others first.
Krazok gave all of you a chance to speak to him or catch his attention but since no one engaged or involved him at all he just continued.
'Yes we need to establish who my new master will be or at least for now, and through their will and my power the rooms can be furnished. He might not be nice but that is not what I demand of my wielder, he or she should want power and a goal to use that power.
'As I already said, it appeared that he died of old age. Do you not understand what it meant to be loyal to the royals in Brevoy and once they disappeared it was not safe for him there anymore, stupid nobles. Do you not know the history of these lands?"
Fizzwiddle Glockenfleffor XXII |
Fizzzy waves to Selena and Blienka, gesturing for them to come over.
Fizzwiddle Glockenfleffor XXII |
He speaks quietly to Selena and Blienka
Fizzwiddle Glockenfleffor XXII |
Blienka |
Former leaders? Perhaps I should speak with this scepter. My parents fled this land shortly before the former king was deposed.
Blienka will tentatively take the scepter. She does not have Detect Magic memorized, so she cannot really use spellcraft to see what magic this item holds.
Blienka |
Blienka, now holding the green scepter, looks down at the small gnome, a confused look on her face.
Perhaps I need to try some of that pie. For, I have no idea how I would think a thought, when I do not know what thought I am to think.
Fizzwiddle Glockenfleffor XXII |
Fizzy cuts some pie and hands it to her.
So think a think. That think, when thought, becomes a thought. When the thought becomes a thought, you have had a thought. When you have had a thought, think the thought and the thought is now a think again and the scepter will hear it.
Fizzy explains as if it makes perfect sense.
spoiler alert: It doesn't
Blienka |
Blienka scratches her head.
You know. I bet if you worked on that explanation a little, you could turn it into a wonderful piece of poetry.
Oh the thinks you could think. - by Dr. Seuss
Selena the Elfen Feline |
Selena is almost finished organizing the loot at hand and smiles at their entire exchange. "As I have said, I am willing to work with the scepter."
