Svetlana will actually take you to the stables first to drop off the horses, leaving the groomer, then tell you that the rooms in the south would be great for you and your help, for that is where the rooms they rent out are, it would be nice if your guards could protect the front doors but that should not matter for the bandits won't come until the morning or the day after.
Alexandra von Ravenstein |
"Of course, thank you my dear! Captain! See to it that no one enters that gate without good reason or an axe to the gut." Alexandra winks as if telling a joke before patting Captain Stonefire on one shoulder and sending him off. "Go see what some rooms will run us, Mr. Jameson. If need be the porters can sleep in the stables." She lets out a terrible irritating laugh before turning back to Svetlanna.
"Now what's all this fuss about bandits coming to be? Where are they coming from, and what do they seem to want?" Alexandra asks with more of an interest then concern in her voice.
Fionn Oighiríg |
Ma'am, I offer my services guarding your gate. I am a knight of the lion, and on my honor bandits can not pass these gates. All I ask in return is a hot meal and some mulled wine to pass the time with the men.
Fionn takes down his bedroll off of his horse to use for the evening. He also refuses to stable his horse, preferring to keep I-Aruka close and ready. She also won't listen to anyone else really..
Alexandra von Ravenstein |
"Oh but noble, Fizzwiddle! Who will guard my bed chambers if not you?" Alexandra sarcastically intones. "Besides, from the look of you they'd have to worry about starving long before the bandits got them."
Viklop "Vik" Kolavar |
Vik waits for the entourage to sort itself out before going to talk to the proprietress.
"We would be more then happy to assist you with your bandit problem, however we have a charter to explore the lands of the Greenbelt from the Swordlords of Rostov."
Vik shows her his copy of the charter.
"My name is Viklop Kolavar, page to Swordlord Jamandi Aldori of Restov."
Be bows and then straightens up, tugging his threadbare tunic straight.
BloodWolven |
"Once we sit down for stew I will send Oleg out with the rest of the stew and some wine for you boys." Svetlana responds with in between addressing all the other questions.
GM Wolf |
"Ah, you are one of those wonderful groups that are going to tame the Greenbelt, two have come before you, one about two months ago, and the other was about a week ago."
"The bandits want everything that's not nailed down, they have come for the past three months, taking our livelihood rather than our lives, first there was a whole band of them..." At this point she has brought you into her house and stops for Oleg is coming down from the roof.
He’s sweaty and gruff. Only recognizes you with a nod, then Svetlana tells him to take the stew out to the others. She quickly pours up some bowls before he takes it out with an unhappy look on his face.
Once Oleg leaves to take the rest of the stew to the guards Svetlana continues telling about the bandits and such. "We sent several requests to the city for reinforcements whenever a trapper or hunter stops by on their way back to civilization and we even have recently received word back with a promise that a group of guards will soon be sent, but no sign of such protection has yet arrived. You are the first real chance to stop the bandits.
The bandits threatened to burn down the trading post and abduct me for their own amusements back at their camp if we didn’t agree to hand over all of the furs and trade goods we’d accumulated over the past month from hunters and trappers. Since then, the bandits have returned twice more, each time within an hour of sunrise on the first day of the month."
"We have learned to have our “taxes” ready and hand them over quickly—the bandits usually seem eager to return to their camp somewhere in the Greenbelt, which I think their camp is about a day’s ride away."
Svetlana stops her story for a moment to tell Oleg to take a bottle of wine out to our friends as well, while she brings in some wooden cups and a bottle of wine herself, she pours a glass for each of you. Then Sly pops up smiling at her, she pours him a cup as well and leaves to get another cup for herself.
"The first time the bandits visited, there were a dozen of them—10 lower-ranking thugs led by a cloaked man armed with a bow, and a woman who carried two small hatchets. The woman did the majority of the talking on that first trip, and her black sense of humor and the way she smiled when she spoke of what fate would await me if we didn't comply frightened me all the more. The woman also seemed to be particularly sharp and observant, whereas the man seemed to be a bit more crude and foolish. This, plus the fact that the woman quite nearly lopped off Oleg's right hand with one of her hatchets in a cruel bit of mockery, convinced the us that she was the most dangerous of the bandits. As it was, the woman took Svetlana's wedding ring right off her hand and tossed it to one of her men as payment for “not shortening Oleg's reach.”
On the second and third visit, only the crude hooded man accompanied the bandits. The second visit, he came with only six other men, while on the third he only came with four. We suspect that the bandits have let down their guard and think that we are completely cowed. Hopefully, when they visit tomorrow they’ll be even fewer in number, and hopefully the scary woman with the hatchets won’t be with them."

Meanwhile Oleg comes out of the houese puts the stew pot down on the fire. He then pours two bowls and brings them to Fionn and the guards. Do one of them suggest to give him a hand?
Alexandra von Ravenstein |
"How frightful, my dear! Well, I think I can speak for my compatriots that once we're around no more harm will come to you and your ilk. Since we're spending the night anyway we'll be up and about to handle them in no time at all.{/b]" Alexandra speaks soothingly and in a calm sorta of manner. She smiles before raising her cup.
"[b]To safer days ahead my dear." She smiles again and lets out a laugh before gulping up her wine in a hurry.
Fionn Oighiríg |
Oi oi! Any o' ye got a long bow to spare?
Fionn yells off the battlement, midst between slurping down soup and wine and the pipe in his mouth all the while. (Being with the mem, he forgets his manners) Also I will be telling jokes with the men,

Look at the map Fionn.
Anything else that day? Will you turn in early? Will you make plans for the next day? etc.
Alexandra von Ravenstein |
Alexandra will stay up trying to ask Sly more about the creatures and landmarks of the Green Belt for as long as he's willing to answer her. She'll then go out and compliment the dutiful work of the guards and Fionn before turning in for the night.

Fionn awakes at dawn, and readies for the bandits to come. Sends a man in for breakfast, hoping for bacon soup, and has a smoke,
Bandits.. The sooner they are dealt with the sooner I can rest peacefully.. Sharpens the edge of his sword.
Alexandra von Ravenstein |
Alexandra has Mr. Jameson wake her and the rest of the guards. She'll walk out to the gate after spending a few minutes getting dressed and will load her crossbow and wait by the wagon.
BloodWolven |
As I have already stated there is no obvious place they can sneak up on you for the forest is about a mile out. Alex will likely be sleeping, through the battle unless she gave specific instructions to be woken up, which I have not seen or heard yet.
Fionn are you next to your horse still? Vik is up on the palisades with the twins. They are crouched down/sitting so no one can see them. Do they have ranged weapons?
Please situate your character or say where they are planning on being for the fight. Fizzy is hidden, Vik you are with the twins.
Alexandra von Ravenstein |
Ha! beat you by four seconds! The twins do not, they are keeping watch to inform everyone and then join the others on horseback (they are cavalry mercs after all) so they can ride out and meet the bandits with Fionn
Alexandra von Ravenstein |
Because I hired cav and no one went up their to inform them. If you'd like to change their plan, the Captain and Lucky Bob are all mounted up and ready to go so you should discuss it with them (and namely Alexandra) before hand. Their advantage is in the field however.
Fionn Oighiríg |
Fionn is on his horse, readying with the men,
We will ride out to meet them in the field, and attempt to funnel them into the gates where they will be ambushed. Any objections?

Fizzy if you are asking those questions, I would suggest that your character does them, rather than OOC, but I understand if your character would not. In that case feel free to post in the discussion thread so we don't get mixed up accidentally. Thanks! ;)
BloodWolven |
Approaching from the south on horseback five individuals come slowly, about an hour after sunrise. About 70 feet away, yes poor perception check, you spot them. Do you know they are bandits, no. They are in simple garb.

Orlivanch, a foul-mannered trapper, has been missing for some time—they say he gave up trapping and joinedthe bandits!
Some of the bandits wear silver amulets that resemble a stag’s skull—these bandits belong to a debased cult dedicated to a hideous animal demon.
There used to be a bridge crossing the Shrike River to the southeast, but bandits ruined it. They say the old bridge keeper Davik Nettles haunts the place now.
The bandits are getting braver and more organized, and there’s whispers that they have a new leader—a man who dresses in animal’s bones and calls himself the Stag Lord.
The primary trade route from the River Kingdoms to Brevoy is the East Sellen River, a major waterway that runs through a swampy region to the west called the Hooktongue Slough. The trade route’s been closed for several months, though, due to an increased amount of violence from the boggard tribes that dwell there—hopefully the frog folk keep to the
swamp and don’t turn their bulging eyes east toward the Narlmarches!
An old friend of a friend had a brother who went missing in the Stolen Lands a while back. A traveling wizard. His
spellbook’s probably just rotting away in the underbrush or in some monser’s lair. Shame, really!
Fionn Oighiríg |
If they be for their first mistake was arriving on horseback. They don't call me Lightning Lance for nothing. You need not fear bandits while we are here. And whence we leave, no bandit shall dare tread here again! The decimation of our foes will be legendary. Fizzy will have many a song to sing of our victories here. I say we declare war on the bandits, who's with me?!
