Quince Medvyed |
Quince takes the holy symbol. Examines it closely. "Thank you." Quince nods to Tristan and listens to Kevros and smirks.
When he has a moment alone he prays and continues to handle and examine the holy symbol.
Kevros Droverson |
Kevros looks at Stalker then addresses the group, "Stalker, do you need anything from us before we go tomorrow?. Let's rest here for the night and go back to Oleg's tomorrow to star the process of resurrecting this temple of Erastil?"
Stalker of Vengence |
"Thank you, but no. I will not have a need or a want for a while." He says simply and at obvious peace. He does the sign for friendship in elven and goes back to resting.
Katrina Dewtree |
The next morning you all wake up to a warm campfire and the smell of breakfast. Katrina has been hard at word making a diverse meal.
Kevros Droverson |
Upon arrival and after the horses are in the stable, "Well met Oleg, we found a temple of Erastil that is in bad repair. Stalker is there watching over the place, resting, and possibly communing with Erastil. It is also a source of curing that vine infliction we have seen. Do you know of a priest of Erastil nearby? Also, we need a contingent to be dispatched there. Do you have enough troops to do so or should we send a request to Brevoy? Although, I will have to word it that the temple is a strategic location, which it is, in curing a disease in the region. Or perhaps, you know some good nature warriors that worship Erastil? Sorry for the haste but we need this temple rebuilt and secure, and we need to get back on the road as soon as possible."
GM Wolf |
Oleg seems to still be in disbelief of your groups actions but Jhod comes forward before Oleg makes a fool of himself.
"You have a temple of old Deadeye? Wonderful I should hope to see it as soon as possible." Jhod Kavken says energetically. With the notion of troops he says, "Do we really need troops? Would it not be better to find woodsmen devoted to Erastil? I think Bearik might be able to help you out better than Brevoy at least from what Oleg and Kesten have said."
Kesten speaks up, "The four of us was hard enough to be sent to an outpost, though to a temple why would they send more men? Perhaps if you send a job listing you might have a few takers, though it might mean more like an adventurers pay than a soldiers."
Tristan Morgan |
Tristan feeds and waters the horses, brushes and takes care of them as the others conduct business. He then offers his help to Svetlana with any task that need doing.
Kevros Droverson |
Kevros nods, smiles, and replies to Jhod, "Do we have a Priest of Erastil?"
Quince Medvyed |
"My tutor growing up was a priest of Erastil. I could send a letter to my mother inquiring if he still lives or another might be willing to take up the service of keeping the temple. We still have much before us or I might volunteer myself to keep the shrine. It might be better served to have someone local."
GM Wolf |
Jhod stands there mouth agap for a moment, takes a step back, then shakes his head. Aparently slightly shaken from Kevros' statement he says, "Do you not remember, I am a priest of Erastil..." He looks at Kevros trying to read his face.
Kestan nods to Quince and takes a step over to him, whispering he says, "It might be best to invite other priests as well."
Jhod seems to be affected by Kevros so much he does not notice the whisper or the message.
Kevros Droverson |
Sorry, I didn't have Jhod in my notes and I can't see your notes during the day.
Kevros holds his head for a second, "Sorry Jhod, I lost a lot of blood recently and it's interfering with the brain. How would you like to become the Priest of the Temple? We will ask Bearik if he knows any woodsmen that would love to live at the temple. Stalker is there now." Kevros looks at Quince and back to Jhod, "It sounds like Quince knows another Priest of Erastil. Perhaps both of you can resurrect the Old Deadeye temple?
Kevros Droverson |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Kevros is put off by Jhod's reaction to his forgetfulness, "Jhod, why are you apprehensive of having a fellow priest with you? Apprehensive and not forgiving; do you have hidden agenda? Now, I am not so sure you will be a good fit. Quince, how much do you trust your Tutor? Is he more forgiving than Jhod and does he mind having other Priest of Erastil with him?"
GM Wolf |
Jhod appears to go through several emotions quickly but ends up just depressed. He moves off and sits down calmly breathing trying to get ahold of himself.
Finally he says, "No I don't have an agenda of my own. I just don't know how to... I am sorry. Let me see the place and you can get whatever priest you like. I won't be a bother to you."
Kevros Droverson |
Kevros senses Jhod's motive(s) again ...
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
He then looks to Quince and Angeus, "What do you guys think?"
Quince don't forget to answer from above as well. Thanks!
Angeus |
Sense motive: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Angeus watches the exchange between Kevros and Jhod, then holds a hand up to Kevros, "Wait a moment."
She goes and sits by Jhod, "Why don't you want to work with other followers of Erastil?
Quince Medvyed |
sense motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Quince is surprised at Jhod's reactions and looks at him with quiet sternness as Kevros and Angeus' question. He smiles hoping to ease the tension some, "Jhod you have been a supporter of our work here and we mean no slight by looking for additional servants of Erastil to work alongside you. The sight is deeply sacred and leaving it to just one man is not fitting such a holy site. It is as being in the very presence of Erastil. There is space for more than one as well. Further with the work we are attempting in these lands a lone priest at a sacred site is not safe." He looks to Kevros, "It has been some years since I have seen my old tutor, Jern was his name. He may not even still be alive he was getting old. But he was a good teacher strong when needed. He taught me much of the faith. Any priest who sees the grove will no at once it is a place that deserves reverence and combined efforts." Quince continues to speak but returns his gaze to Jhod. "Erastil has a most orderly view of things. Jern has served in many roles in his years of service. If he lives he might make a fitting chief priest for the site. If he has passed on then any help I might be able to pull from among my family can serve with Jhod as seniority dictates."
sense motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Quince waits to see Jhod's reactions.
GM Wolf |
With Angeus' question Jhod seems to get even more figitey. He won't look her in the eye and simply says, "It's about my past..."
He reacts well to Quince, "If it truely as you say, then the place must be the one from my dreams. I would welcome any other priest to come and make it a sight to see, visit, or stay. I just don't know if they would accept me. My last position I made some rash decisions and we hung a wrong person. I was nearly excommunicated fro my role and that is why I fear other priests."
Angeus |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Angeus shrugs off Jhod's admission of his past indiscretions,"Well, I think you're our man. Especially if you've been having dreams about it. Any others can go jump in a lake, we make the decisions around here."
Quince Medvyed |
Quince smiles, "Other priests were not the first to rise to the call, you were." Quince chuckles "He's our man . . . besides of Ole Deadeye is displeased we will know when he turns into a bear."
Kevros Droverson |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
He gives Jhod a slanted look still measuring him up, "Jhod, If it was completely up to me, I would not allow you to become the Priest of Old Deadeye. However, I am out voted here because my fellow Wardens believe you are the proper fit so I must relent. You may want to practice more humility for I am an uneasy follower of Erastil and someone like me maybe angered by your lack of forgiveness. You as a priest, must attempt to forgive more than lesser Erastil followers for you are the closest to Erastil on Golarion than we are. And if Erastil is not happy with you and turns you into a bear, we will remove you from the temple like we just did with the last priest. Also, we will be sending people to the temple to be cured of the vine disease. We want you to take them in and cure them. I am guessing the Vine disease has something to do with fallen worshipers but that is only a guess? You will need strong ropes, two strong guys, and one to two more followers or helpers that can throw the Waters of Erastil on the vines as you hog tied the ill and throw him or her into the fountain. Erastil will then cleanse them and spit them out inside the Temple caves. This is why I want at least (2) priest there and some guards or trusted woodsmen to act as helpers and guards."
Angeus |
Angeus blinks at the torrent of information coming from Kevros, nodding at the good points he was making.
"Yeah, that's all good stuff, Kevros." she says, "Jhod, this will be a big job, you'll need some help as Kevros explained."
GM Wolf |
Jhod nods in agreement to the instructions. Letting himself be humble and let Kevros instruct him. Then he replies, "I will do my best and another priest would be fine, I just hope we can get beyond my past. Shall I retrieve my horse? Wait would it be wise for me to go to Restov and collect some men that would be willing to help?"
Kevros Droverson |
Kevros looks at him, "Jhod, I thought you wanted woodsmen from around here or did I misunderstand you? Do you still suggest that course of action? Or have you reconsider?
Quince Medvyed |
Quince puts up a hand gently in the hopes of slowing Kevros' questioning, "I think he is trying to be open to our instructions. It was other priests that worried him because they may know something of his reputation. His offer to go to Restov is to go as messenger and gather those who we might wish to join him. If I am to send a letter home someone will need to go to Restov if for not other reason to send a post courier."
Kevros Droverson |
Kevros looks at Quince and slows down his questioning, "Maybe Oleg has someone in mind that can go to Restov for that reason. In addition, I don't mind he gets people from Restov." Kevros pauses ... "You know, we need to get a bird of prey messaging thing going so we can send messages back and forth between our allies? I do not want to use a complete prey bird, like a pigeon, to carry the messages."
GM Wolf |
Jhod waits patiently for your group to make the decision.
Oleg offers up what he knows in a few gruff words, "Not many messages really have been needed to be sent to Restov, I have just used the traveling merchants to ferry them along."
Jhod simply says, "I am willing to take your direction."
Kestan offers up a solution to at least one of the problems, "I can send one of my men with your messege and to acquire a pigeon service."
Quince Medvyed |
I am taking the offer to arrange pigeon service suggests that pigeon's are available for carrying messages. Though if a more robust bird exists Kevros has a poing.
Quince nods at Oleg, "Maybe someday when folk travel in the open unafraid of bandits the town of Oleg will have a bird stop."
"I will prepare what letters are needed."
Kevros Droverson |
Putting my Kevros hat back on, does it still fit? ... lol
Kevros nods, "Kestan please see to that and see if we can do it with Falcons instead. They can catch pigeons so they are faster and they are birds of prey so one or two steps higher on the food chain. Now for hunting, I heard Falcon-Hawks were the best. They are birds of prey that combine the speed and maneuverability of a falcon but they are the size of hawks."
GM Wolf |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Oleg snears after Quince references his outpost as a city, then grunts out, "I came out here to get away from city life."
Kestan seems to agree with Kevros but seems a bit apprehensive, putting his thoughts simply forward, "A falconer does seem a better choice but would likely more costly. Do you have some gold to go with my soldier? It also might be prudent to make some wanted posters or we can have someone make them in Restov for able bodied men for the temple."
Quince Medvyed |
Quince holds up his hands, "Just playing with you."
Tristan Morgan |
Tristan still keeps to himself making sure the horses are cared for and offers any help he can at the outpost. The business coming back here was the others not his.
Angeus |
Angeus helps Svetlana around the outpost, thrashing rugs, changing sheets , even helping in the kitchen.
Her 'duty' done for her friends, she then spends time in the practice yard with blade and bow.
Then she spys the large collection of loot the group had acquired.
Thoughfully, she opines, "Perhaps we should liquidate this stuff back in Restov. Send it along with someone trustworthy, I doubt Oleg would be able to purchase it all...."
Quince Medvyed |
Quince agrees with Angeus, "We have gathered quite a haul. We have a number of folks in our employ now. Perhaps they might need some supplies? Whatever Oleg does not want to buy we can send on to Restov with our messages."
GM Wolf |
Kestan looks at the two and shakes his head, he then suggests, "If you want to send such a haul perhaps it would be better if one of the messages is a well known merchant that can guarantee your profits?"
Oleg simply says, "I have been working to diminish your pile but alas it is too much at this moment."
Svetlanna gladly accepts Angeus's help, enjoying the company of another female for the short time they are at the outpost.
Day 60, 10 equivalent rations left after this day. Where are you heading? Are you scrounging up some food along the way?
After giving messeges to Kestan and a bag of gold out of the loot for the falconer, the Wardens mount up and head out to explore once again.
Kevros Droverson |
BEFORE DEPARTURE
Kevros makes sure that one message contains the request for a falconer and to pay for it with the Warden's current treasury. And the second letter of dealing with a reputable merchant to help liquidate our treasure into precious metal and/or stone. In addition, the necessary men to help guard the Temple of Erastil. "Thank you Kestan for the ideas, and the dispatch. And thank you Quince for writing up the messages."
Kevros looks to Jhod and the group, "Jhod please wait here until the men from Restov arrive so you can guide them to the temple. Shall we stop by the temple to warn Stalker or should we send the falcon once the falconer arrives to status update Stalker?"
On the Trail
If we don't send the Falcon, then off to the Temple to status Stalker and check up on him. Then from there off to explore where we haven't. "We should gather food along the way. Where else should we go? Tristan, any ideas where our friend, the Stag Lord, would be hiding? If not, what other places shall we explore and map for those who lived in this region before becoming wardens?"
Quince Medvyed |
Quince notes Kevros' questions, "Hopefully we will find a trail for the Staglord. If we return to exploration there are sights near the temple, north, south and west. Though you might wish for rations. Much of that region is swamp."
Tristan Morgan |
"He is better trained at covering his tracks then I am at finding them. We won't find him until he wishes to be found. Either attacking us or trying to recruit more bandits. We should start searching around the temple and explore more of the land."
Kevros Droverson |
Kevros nods, "Then we are in agreement, head for the Temple to status Stalker, and then explore from there? And gather rations as we go?"
Angeus |
BEFORE Departure
Angeus shyly approaches Quince, asking him to look over a message she was sending to her only true friend in Restove, the fencing master, Tolen.
Her handwriting is pretty attrocious, but her message is cogent and to the point.
On the trail
Angeus ranges far to one side of the the main group, trying to flush out a species of ground bird common to the area.
Survival: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24
Quince Medvyed |
BEFORE Departure
Angeus shyly approaches Quince, asking him to look over a message she was sending to her only true friend in Restove, the fencing master, Tolen.
Her handwriting is pretty attrocious, but her message is cogent and to the point.
Quince smiles warmly at Angeus' approach. "You have been busy. Svetlana said some of what I enjoyed in last night's dinner was your work." He chuckles light bumping her shoulder with his own playfully.
He looks over her message asking a few questions. "It's good. Your tutor will be happy to hear of the hero of the Stolen Lands."
Tristan Morgan |
"So no objections then. Well mount up. Time to move out and keep exploring the area."
As the wardens take back to the road, they head out to explore around the temple or some more.
Quince Medvyed |
Quince helps ready the horses talking to them in their strange tongue.
While on the trail he takes shots at the quarry that Angelus shakes from the brush with his crossbow. At a rest Quince approaches Tristan, "My tutor taught me dogma and geography I know nothing of my Lord's own weapon. I have seen you use the bow with great skill. I would love to learn."
Kevros Droverson |
REBUMPING FOR BEING ON THE TRAIL
Kevros nods, "Then we are in agreement, head for the Temple to status Stalker regarding Jhod and small guard contingent of followers, and then explore from there? And gather rations as we go?"
GM Wolf |
With little help from the others Angeus flushes out two pheasants and later a turkey providing about 8 equivalent rations.
With a 22 hour ride ahead with hunting and gathering, it takes 3 days to get back to the temple.
Day 61, 14 equivalent rations left over at the end of the day. Day 62, 10 equivalent rations left over... Unless you roll up some more survival checks, one for each day.
Some strange things begin to happen to the group the first night they set up camp. Quince's holy symbol moves on its own for a little bit and Angeus' cup moves a few times when she tries to grab it.
Angeus |
Knowledge (nature) 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Angeus smiles knowingly as her cup seems to elude her grasp for the third time, casting her eyes around and up....
Perception 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
"Ah, we have neighbors...fey nests...up there." she says quietly, pointing out the nests, 40 feet up.
"They'd be good friends to us, just need to give them 'gifts'." she says smiling, reaching into her pouch and taking out a copper piece.
She places it in her palm and holds it out, seeing if is taken....
Angeus' note to Tolen reassures him that she's ok, and mentions the progress the group is making in exploring the region...
Quince Medvyed |
Quince smiles. "Good eyes. You are right. We should work to make sure they are friendly. Perhaps a small gift for them."
What's a good gift for fey? We don't have any kids for them to steal away . . . sorry Midsummer's Night Dream flashback.
diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
Quince gathers some fruit and other gifts for the fey and arranges it among a bed of sweet smelling flowers. While he sets up the small gift. He sings a cheery song in Sylvan. What he lacks in singing skill he makes up for in enthusiasm. Occasionally he glances at the others nervous they will think he is nuts.
perform: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Suddenly I got a fright
Yeah I looked throught the distance
And surprised what I saw
A Fairy with boots on dancin' with a dwarf
Alright now!
Fairies wear boots and now you gotta believe me
Yeah I saw it, I saw it
I tell you no lie
Yeah Fairies had boots and you gotta believe me
I saw it, I saw it with my own two eyes
Woah right now!
So I went to the doctor to see what he could give me
He said Son, son, you've gone too far
'Cause revelin' and drinkin' is all that you do
Yeah![occ]Yes that is a Black Sabbath Song LOL "Fairies Wear Boots" That has to be a situational bonus.[/ooc]
