Story Narrator

It sounds like you're leaning towards taking the puppies with you. Let me know if this is not the plan. Who will take which worg?

After you resolve what to do with the worg puppies, you spend the remainder of the day once again tracking down your wayward horses. The lost time extends your exploration of this section of the Kamelands by once day, but your mapping proceeds without further incident.

Will you continue south following the kobold's directions? If not, where to?

Seres shrugs, "I suppose I am no different." He carefully approaches the worg puppies and holds out his hand for them to sniff. He then produces some bits from his rations and offers a 'snack'. Assuming they remain friendly, he'll carefully collar and leash the blue-eyed worg with a section of rope.

Ezekial moves to claim a pup as well. He is happy to claim the black pup.
After feeding it he will put it inside his jacket to keep it warm. He will listen to the druid and cavalier about training the pup and will try to learn from them. Committing to putting a point into Handle Animal here.

Story Narrator

With Aldarion's guidance and the offers of food, the pups begin to warm up to you and eventually allow you to pick them up and take them with you. The horses are none to happy to have the worgs traveling with you, but in time they begin to settle and appear to be resigned to the new companions.

You wake up and continue your exploration south. The weather continues to be clear and seasonably cool.

After several hours of travel, you see what appears to be a giant tree looming on the horizon. As you draw closer, you see that a the tree is a gigantic sycamore tree that rises over a 100 feet above the surrounding grasslands. The graying hulk of the ancient tree clings precariously to it's last years of life. A tangle of giant roots radiates from the massive trunk.

Meh. Its a dead tree. Ezekial says as he eats his last goodberry healing himself up to full. Want me to check around it for traps? And could I get a couple more of those berries?

Story Narrator

As you approach the tree, the horses become increasingly uneasy and skittish. At about 100 meters to the tree, you find that the difficult terrain formed by the giant roots rising out of the ground is no longer passable by the horses. The roots, many of which are several foot in diameter, intertwine and eventually converge at the base of the giant sycamore. If you want to proceed closer, you will have to dismount.

"Yeah, we come in peace ..."

Connor will wait to see what unfolds.

Zeke, surprise round equals single action. Either attack or move, not both

Right. Since I won initiative I had forgotten about it being a surprise round. He would have thrown the dagger.

Surpise Round

Ezekial launches a dagger at one of the blue skinned creatures and wounds it grievously. You note that the dagger does not do as much damage as it should have.

Both of the creatures snarl and begin chanting.

Ezekial and Connor, please make a DC10 Will save. All, please make perception checks. Also, don't forget the -2 on attack rolls due to the cramped quarters.

Connor is up for his surprise round action. Ezekial and Seres may take their round 1 actions.

Will Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15 17 vs enchantments

Ezekial notes that his steel blade did less damage than he expected so as he advances on the wounded creature he pulls a dull metal Cold Iron kukri from its sheath. If this fails to get though the creatures tough skin I'll have to try my silver blade. he thinks.

cold iron kukri: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 4 - 2 = 191d4 + 2 + 1d8 ⇒ (1) + 2 + (2) = 5 Not sure they are still flat footed even though I beat them in initiative. If they acted in the surprise round and are not flat footed take 2 points off the damage.

Depending on the outcome of that (DOOM!) Connor moves forward to interpose himself between the baddies and the party.

Round 1

Connor you feel a crushing sense of doom. (You are shaken)

Ezekial advances and cuts down one of the creatures with his cold iron kukri.

The other creature steps forward and slashes Ezekial with his dagger -2 HP

You hear the sound of approaching footsteps approaching from both the tunnel behind you and the tunnel in front of you (on the other end of the chamber).

dice:

damage: 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Ezekial Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 19
Connor Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 15

You should now be able to move your icons on Roll20. We're up to Adarion and Connor for your round 1 actions. Ezekial and Seres, you may take your round 2 actions.

Round 1

"Oh dear,", the gardener worries as he looks back the way they came. Looking forward at the fallen blue creature, and then back again, his worry only increases.

With a sigh, he resolves to act upon a course of action that might, however unlikely, resolve this scenario without further bloodshed.

First, he mutters a brief prayer to himself. Then, he whispers to nearby Connor, pointing to the remaining blue guy near Zeke, "Finish him quick, and hide those bodies."

Before he can ask a question, he heads back up the tunnel, more cautiously this time, to see who is coming. He looks to Seres with slight embarrassment as his foot slides in the wrong direction when he begins to climb, "Um, care to give me a boost, my friend?"

If they are more blue people, he raises his hands in a gesture of submission and attempts to befriend them, "Hello good fellows. I come in peace. Can you understand me?"

OOC:
Cast guidance on self [standard action]. Climb back up the tunnel [move action]:
Climb: 1d20 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 + 1 = 13 If Seres aids, that's a 15

If there are more blue people, try to befriend them (on next turn, if still in turns):
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

If they don't speak Common, he tries to discern what they might say in return:
Linguistics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

Shivering with fearful hesitation, Connor steps in and swings his axe sidelong in the cramped quarters.

To hit: 1d20 + 4 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 4 - 2 - 2 = 8
