"Be careful. Weapons at the ready," Naralesh advises, drawing his bow as he intones the words to a protective spell, and a second incantation to illuminate the darkened tunnel by calling forth light from Gavriil's sword.

Casting mage armor on self and light on Gavriil's weapon. Waiting to descend after Magna and Gavriil.

Gavriil was fed up with the weather. First the rain, that seemed to soak through just about everything. It left him cold and soaked to the bone, dowsing his mood with it. Days and days of rain. It seemed like the whole world was going to wash away in a flood.

Finally, fed up with it all, he shouted to all the gods in the heavens, "Ok, Ok! I don't like you, you don't like me. But could you please dry things up a bit?!

And the next day it was all wind.

Blustering wind that made him tuck his hat away in his sack. It chaffed at his face, forcing him to pull his cloak up over most of his face to keep from being wind-burned. He was surprised that the horses didn't blow away in the wind. He glowered at the heavens once more and said, "Very funny. Don't worry, I won't be asking anymore favors anytime soon."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Gavriil dropped down from the saddle as the others inspected the door. Apparently, it was an old tomb. Gavriil looked to Dregan and said, "At least it will get us inside for once. Besides, a mummy doesn't sound too bad... unless there's a daddy too."

Magna brandished her ax and took the lead, with Gavriil's blessing. "Ladies first, my dear," he said, holding a hand over his mouth and nose to hold the stench at bay. Holding his rapier out in front of himself to light the way, he slipped in behind her, his eyes searching for any sign of threat... or treasure.

No problem, it was a good (and appropriate) joke!

The steps descend downward thirty feet below the surface of the plain. They open into a stone room, covered in the dust and debris of decades. Hearing nothing, Naralesh peers fruitlessly down the dark corridor. "I see nothing. Perhaps..." He whispers a few cryptic syllables as he draws an arrow from his quiver, and the light radiating from Gavriil's sword leaps from the blade to the shaft of his arrow. Nocking it, he fires the glowing missile into the darkness in the direction of Gavriil's pointing, hoping the light it carries will reveal whatever moves beyond.

Not clear on the exact shape of the chamber, but Naralesh is trying to illuminate whatever part we can't see. With his low-light vision, he should be able to see a very wide radius.

Very clever Nara! Although you may not like the result...

Naralesh casts his spell, covering the arrow in a flickering light. Firing it into the darkness ahead, the arrow lights a streaking path into what is obviously a larger space. Shadows leap up and fade in an instant as it flies. The arrow strikes a stone wall, falling to the ground with a 'snak'. The darkness covers you completely, but ahead you can see what is making the sound...

Obviously, Magna can see her surroundings, but the rest of you...enjoy the map! Single actions please.

I think Talia can't do much than cast light and or get into position, so I don't think we need to worry about a retcon. Its much too cool narratively to not have the light up anyways.

Talia's blood runs cold as the arrow shoots through the darkness, illuminating the barrow in its flight, too quick to reveal much detail. As the arrow falls to the ground after hitting the back wall, the playwright's eyes adjust, and Talia gasps as she sees the forms, silhouetted by the light behind them, moving towards the group. Four of them! Pharasma's damnable lament!

While she's thinking, Talia's hand is already searching through her belt pouch, fingers fumbling through the assorted odds and ends. Smiling, she feels the familiar shape of a small glass jar, one that can only hold a firefly. Holding the jar aloft, Talia says a quick incantation, "Lumen!', and then popping the top of the jar off into the darkness - I'll find that later... - the noble overturns the jar onto the back of Talia's gloved hand, her breath running ragged as the firefly ignites and vanishes into a flash of light, extending out into the darkness from the back of Talia's glove.

Standard action: cast light, centered on the back of Talia's whip hand.

I go before Talia, so this happens before she five-foot-steps away.

Naralesh watches as the arrows and rapier clatter harmlessly off the skeletons. I'll not do much good with my arrows. Perhaps something that can crush, rather than pierce... He drops the bow and draws his longsword as he steps back out of the nearest skeleton's reach. For a moment, he wonders what to summon, but then a slight smile curls his lips. Of course... he thinks with a smirk.

Five-foot step diagonally left and downwards, drawing longsword as a move action and dropping bow in his new square.

He hurries through the complicated incantation, not caring that he got some of the words mixed up. Speed matters now, not precision, he thinks. With a flourish, an excited-looking corgi materializes opposite Talia, its fur glistening with streaks of gold and silver. Its eyes light up with playful glee as it spots the skeleton.

Naralesh grins. "Fetch, boy!" he says, pointing at the skeleton. The animal surges with both holy power and canine enthusiasm as it lunges for the skeleton's leg-bone.

"Bugger! Dregan swears as the light moves away from him. Moving quickly towards the more stable light he takes Magna's gap while dropping his Bow and pulling out his battleaxe. Gripping it two handed he swings at the same skeleton that he had been firing at (the one with his ranger's focus).

Attack: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 5 + 2 = 26 (Remove +2 if focused skeleton is already down)
Damage (Slashing): 1d8 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 2 = 14 (Remove +2 if focused skeleton is already down)

Talia trips the skeleton next to Magna, who promptly smashes it with her axe. The sound of axe on dead wood reverberates through the cairn, but still it moves...

Gavriil's first attack scratches along a rib, and the second misses. Meanwhile Dregan charges up and smashes the grinning skull of the first skeleton!

Rising from his defensive posture, Naralesh harries the skeleton with his blade, striking in unison with the conjured hound, aiming more to distract than to threaten.

Dog attacks, Naralesh attacks while fighting defensively, as he knows that his sword is unlikely to be effective anyway (-4 to hit, +2 AC).

Gavriil grimaced as his rapier merely nicked the rib of the skeleton once more. They needed to end it soon. He pulled his rapier back and stabbed at the skeleton again.

I don't have the accursed map again, but not waiting to get it back. I'll work on it while we continue.

The golden corgi tears the leg from the skeleton, sending it crashing to the floor. Gav's rapier nicks the skeleton once again.

The skeleton in front of Gavriil returns the favor, the rusty sword it wields gashing his arm. -2 hp, Gav

The prone skeleton stands, stabbing at Magna to no avail. AoO for Magna on the skeleton Talia tripped.

Figuring that Magna, Dregan and Gavriil have their foes controlled, Talia drops her scorpion whip and draws her longsword. Breathing quickly, buckler held to her side and sword loosely in front of her in the peculiar dueling style of her house, the noble steps into the breach and brings her weapon up for a quick slashing cut.

Free actions: drop whip, 5' step west, next to Naralesh's dog; move action: draw longsword; standard action: attack

attack: 1d20 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 3 - 1 = 4
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

The longsword slips a little in Talia's nervous hands, clanging harmlessly off the skeleton's side. Cursing, the playwright brings the weapon up over her head, adopting the dueling reed style...

Probably better off just slinging bullets at this guy, but wisdom 8 and no knowledge of undead = duel!

Ok got it back. Magna, your AoO missed, so applied the standard attack to it.

The skeleton facing Gavriil ducks Dregan's swing, as does the undead standing up in front of Magna. It's luck runs out when the dwarf's return swipe takes its head from its shoulders. Talia steps up, sword held in nervous hands, but finds no opponent she can reach easily.

Talia:
The sounds of bone scraping along stone echos from deeper in the cairn. one, maybe two...things...stir within.
