Incidentally, on the topic of stuff, another thought intrudes - that of role.

When Edric and I joined, you were in need of melee tank types, and with so many in the group I had the luxury of building a battlefield-control type rather than a full on DPR monster.

Now of course our numbers are lower, and although we have Gav and Edric to do melee, we lack our archer.

So... I'm happy to retrain my feats to be a shooty type. After all, as far as I'm concerned it's the personality that makes play fun (and no, Talia, that's not up for renegotiation :P)

If I'm going to retrain, now is the time to do it, though - the six months we've just had would be easily enough time.

Thoughts?

I will chime in all of these topics;

WBL: once you know where you are right now. Make the adjustment to where you should be. Post what you want to do. You can assume that in 6 months there will be time for you to get what you need from Restov. This time. Start planning for the next level!

WBL cont'd: still need Gav and Edric to do their analysis.

Retraining: no issues with you retraining yourselves as long as it makes some sense.

WBL still: looking at what Talia and Vosil put forth, you won't get too far before you hit your WBL. +1 whip (or bow as necessary), +1 chain, ring of protection, and you're right there pretty much.

Speaking of role, are we turning Dregan into an NPC for the wilderness exploration stuff? Otherwise, it is Vosil with his +5 modifier leading us around the wilderness.

As far as retraining goes, sounds fine to me.

And I wouldn't change Vosil's personality for all the gold in Golarian :)

Well... he avenged his brother, so maybe he decides that the home-stuff is now more important to him (or maybe his wife just goes directly to Talia and says something like "no ifs, ands or buts - you make sure my man comes home safe to me"). He'll help with the wilderness stuff, but in a fight he'll be holding the horses or guarding the base camp.

Alright, I got myself tallied up.

As for what to do with Dregan, I was going to suggest the same thing, Vosil. We can even allow him to stay home and say that we take one of his scouts with us. Say the scout was trained by him so we can use his rolls, keeps him out of danger, and we aren't actually using the scout as a combatant.

EDIT: Forgot what I was getting from Restov while we have to opportunity. I'll pick up a +1 rapier, +1 Parade Armor, and a +1 Buckler. That'll leave me about 185 gp left to add to my sheet.

Unless I'm doing this all wrong.

I like the ideas about Dregan, we can do that.

As far as cash on your sheet, I'm not going to be too exacting on that because you ruling-types should have cash on hand. As long as you don't go overboard, spending here and there won't matter. Up to a hundred gp at a go, say. And no, you can't buy a Staff of Power in 2500 installments of 100gp each...

Naralesh's last post was actually July 31, where he posted in the Kingdom Builder Discussion tab about the new Doctor Who. Still, it's been a while for sure. We shall see what happens. I think Talia scared him off. Lose an eye fighting bandits? No sweat. Marry Talia? Where's the nearest door!

OK, so if I'm retraining, the feats look something like this

Lvl 1 feat - Point-blank shot
Bonus human feat - Rapid shot
Bonus fighter 1 feat - Precise shot
Bonus fighter 2 feat - Deadly aim
Level 3 feat - Weapon focus (longbow)
Bonus fighter 4 feat - Dazzling display
Level 5 feat - Weapon specialisation (longbow)

Expenditures:

(possibly exchange the masterwork whip for a composite longbow)
Belt of +2 Dex: 4,000
Weapon +1: 2,000
Cloak of resistance +1: 1,000

Bank the rest (about 800 gp) for more goodies later.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If anyone gets a plus to their kingdom-stat (Cha for most of you, I think, with Str for Edric?), please let me know as it will affect our kingdom! Thankyou

I'll get my WBL analysis and whatnot done tonight as well - or tomorrow at the latest. (I have another game to GM tonight which might take up some time.)

On the topic of marriage, Naralesh has hinted in the past that he's of noble birth, and I'll elaborate on that in my next in-character post. This raises some questions about what precisely will happen as Talia and I join our houses.

I've been consulting with a friend who is an expert on medieval culture and noble marriages has played a lot of Crusader Kings 2, and I think we should have a matrilineal marriage. Essentially it would mean that any children we might have are of Talia's house/dynasty, not mine, and wouldn't stand to inherit lands from Naralesh's side of the family (instead of the alternative, wherein our kingdom would probably be annexed by the elves in a generation or two). This particularly makes sense considering Talia is our ruler, and her family likely is more prestigious than mine (not to mention much more closely tied to the adventure path's story).

The houses will still be joined by marriage, though, and this could prove helpful if our nation is ever at war. We might be able to elicit some elven favors or aid.

Hey = you could have just asked me! I have over 1100 hours logged on that game! I've studied the time peiod properly too!

Matrilineal marriage certainly seems the way to go, politics practically demands it since Nara is, at least in practise, the lower ranked member of the marriage and has fewer titles/lands to bring to the whole thing.

I was thinking morganatic, but that might not be appropriate - the only examples I could find are of a higher-ranked male marrying a lower-ranking female, which is the opposite of what we have here.

I've never played EU4 but I know that there is a converter which you can use to transfer a CK2 game that has finished (in 1453) into an EU4 game so you can play across about 1000 years of european history all told.

CK2 you take control of a dynasty (anything from Random Count No-one McNoface in Scotland right through to the Comneni/Plantagenets/Valois) and try to rule for as long as you possibly can. You play for the dynasty, not individual rulers since they always die off. (Case in point - I've been conducting a convoluted plan to inherit the Kingdom of Lombardy. I've lost 4 emperors while the king i concluded the original deal with is still alive.... Luckily the byzantines breed reasonably well!)

My long term goal for example is to resurrect the Roman Empire - that's something that is going to take about 30 generations, but as long as an Isauros sits on the Imperial Throne each time then thats fine. :)

Anyone wants to know more I'd be happy to play online or something sometime! :D

Ha, sure - but have you landed the Spartans on Mars? Or introduced the Sumerians to the pointy end of nuclear power? Yeah, didn't think so :P

Anyway, currently designing starships (got my copy of Starfinder to download, eventually). Beep me when we leave Drift space get going again.

We'll get going here today. Sorry, been a busy weekend/Monday.

Hey, no problems - I'm currently setting Grasers to "Really? You couldn't come up with a better name than that?"

(In all seriousness, Starfinder is awesome* and I'm loving the 500+ page rulebook, or at least what I've read of it so far: I got more distracted by the starships chapter than any - alleged - grownup has a right to be...)

*It's DEFINITELY the space-based RPG you're looking for!

I've been reading it, it LOOKS good, we'll see how it plays. I'm very tempted to start a game on pbp just to see how it goes and work through it with a group. I'm amazed how much I've learned about Pathfinder by playing here, I'm sure it will be an experience in Starfinder.

I'm due to play a tabletop game on Thursday evening to playtest the rules - low magic game only (no mystic, solarion or technomancer).

I'll let you have an AAR if you like.
