Egan didn't swear anything, however if Happs felt he had been mislead by the gnome you can hardly blame him.

Treasure wise...

Happs owned a chain shirt, a longsword, a small knife, a mw composite shortbow str +2, 2 flasks of alchemists fire, 20 arrows, 2 days of rations, 50gp, the amulet i mentioned and a horse with riding gear.

Each bandit had leather armour, a shortsword, a shortbow, 20 arrows, 2 days of rations, 10gp and a horse with riding gear.

There were also 2 spare horses with saddlebags.

I was totally gonna use it! My strength of 10 cannot be stopped! Lol. Seriously put it to good use. I was going to memorize Identify if we think we need it for the amulet. Cure light wounds as well to finish patching up my internal bleeding. I assume we will spend the night and head out to either destination in the AM.


The amulet is not magical, its just a mishapen piece of silver with a vague outline of a horned animal head. Its not even particularly good workmanship.

If someone makes an appraise roll they can value it.

Egan is good for either exploring or bandit camps. But eventually we will have to deal with at least that closest bandit camp. This initial encounter gave us a little trouble. Are we ready for double the number of bandits? I'd sorta like to be second level before that.

Is anyone claiming any of the gear? I'll take the chain shirt if no one else wants it, though it'll probably sit in the saddle bags most of the time.

We should pass out the alchemist's fire too. I'll take one of them.

I'll also pick up a winter blanket for 5 sp.
If I do take the chain shirt, I'd also like to trade my studded leather for one of the sets of leather. Use that for regular wear to keep the skill penalties down and the chain for battles.

Edit: Also do we need to explore this hex? Or is it assumed that Oleg's hex is already mapped?

If it is allowed, I think Andrej and I can both aide in the survival checks. I would like to head through the radish hex either on the way there or back.


The radish hex is the first hex you are heading to. Sadly with the number of large animals in the party the DC for the survival check to increase movement is 26, which anza can hit but even with your assistance on that roll she would have failed.

I am working on the assumption that if you can help out you are helping out to be fair, i just didn't add it into her surival roll.

Can we just assume that Dom is actively keeping look out? I don't see anything about taking 10 on a perception check so if I can I will but otherwise my Perception is +7.
If no one objects I may squirrel away the Long Sword and a Shortbow/ Arrows. In case I decide to "train" with them and multi-class. No decision on that yet tho.

Moon radishes are a similar shape to normal radishes but are smaller and have a slight glow around their cream skin.

Basicly slightly magic radishes.

I think I'm canning the ranger idea. I do want to get my hands on a quarter staff of some sort eventually tho. I think it would look cooler lol.

I dont see any decent spells until 3rd lvl spells are available. I hate that I cant use magic missile. Thats my biggest pet peve

L1 obscuring mist and ear piercing scream
L2 hold person, web, Glitterdust

A witch's job isnt to deliver dmg. It is to screw the baddies up so bad that they can't do crap. All of these spells really control the battlefield. You just have to have a different mind set from an evocation wizard.

Plus hexes are sooooo sweet. My L5 witch took the extra hex feat like 3 times. He can sit at a table and decide how the battle goes down.

Yeah Im a melee fighter type lol so this is tough for me. Especially when I got one hit my first time out. It was very traumatizing lol.

Its a hard lot being a caster, however not all enemies are intellegent so don't worry. I try to play npc's to their intellegence level and tactics so i won't go out of the way to punish casters, i've played a wizard with a gm who hated spellcasters and its not fun.

I you want to all want to optimise i'll rewrite some of the encounters to keep the challenge there but don't feel like you have to, kingmaker has a few really hard fights where you need to be on your toes but a lot of the fights are only really deadly if the pc's play badly or push too hard.

When your making camp do you want to tell me what each of you are doing or just let me assume your all doing tge tasks your best suited for? Domitian/Sergei on guard, Egan on the fire and cooking, Andrej pitching tents and gathering, Silva settling horses and gathering?

Those sound good to me.


You need to make a 12 hour night watch rotation, remember casters all need 8 hours uninterupted rest to regain spells so they need to be on first or last watch. If you need her too Anza will take a watch but she prefers last watch so she can plan the days travel.

I will take any watch. The middle 4 hours is probably the best for me since I do not need to prepare spells? I just need time to pray. :)


Its alright for now silva but when you get spells you still need 8 hours rest just like egan and domitian. Its not like you cannot change your guard rotaion though, i just like to have a standard so i know whos perception i am checking.

What do you guys think? That separates out the perception pretty well. Any other ideas?

I just started a summer class so my posting wont be as strong as it has been. Sorry.


We'll run this encounter without a map, i don't think i need to knock together a camping map for a random encounter. I do have a camping map but i don't think this will last past 2 rounds of combat.

Sounds good! I'm glad we flushed it! I love XP and I was ready for some action!


Andrej did get "lucky", i had planned to have it stalk your mounts about 50ft out and his perception roll was exactly its stealth score when taking 10 at that distance.


Andrej will be setting off in pursuit once his action comes around again.

Just waiting for Domitian to decide what he wants to do since his hex is actually out of range.


Just to clarify the scene without a map, the beast is around 150 foot from your camp through light woodland, it is not difficult terrain but does obscure line of sight and provide cover.

Andrej is closest to the beast being only 80 feet away, Sergei is just behind andrej at 120 foot away, Egan is in the camp mounting his dog, Domitian is currently in the camp near Egan but has an action in hand, Silva is in camp near the horses and is up to act.


Silva had to repost his action from last round so he posted in turn.

Domitian the creature is outisde the 30ft range of the misfortune hex by 120ft, you can still move from last round if you wish as i tried to judge your action as best i could but with no target i didn't want to decide movement for you.

Egan, your action is noted and will take place once we get the initiative order back on track.

Sergai, its your action.
