If everyone wants to skip ahead we should. I just feel like it cheapens the experience to skip over all the small details so I just rolled with it.

Same, I think we should leave it for the DM to skip it for us =p
DM_Ego |
I'll skip it once we've gone through the night in camp, since you still haven't hired Anza as a guide, so if you actually want a guide who can help you map the greenbelt it would be an idea to organise it now before you get to Olegs and she leaves you.
If we were at a table this intro bit would probably have taken an hour if that but since we're posting i'm quite concious that we are covering ground slower but that its very easy to miss things or gloss over things now that could be important in the future.
Once you get into Oleg's the exploration begins and you could find yourselves quite overwhelmed if your unprepared and you do not know each others abilities and weaknesses. Some groups like that (for example my other PbP group is quite annoyed i initiated combat without us using stealth but everyone found it funny that my barbarian couldn't wait) but other groups want to be able to plan intricate details and we're still getting to know one another so i wanted us to have a honeymoon period before we really began.
Egan 'Little Fire' Thermogauge |
I am in no hurry to fast forward and would like a chance to get to know everyone IC for all the reasons that Ego recommends, and because its fun.
I strongly recommend hiring Anza as a guide. Anyone opposed? Egan does not have the funds himself to hire her for long...
Domitian |
Just to note. We just settled into an evening camp. So we can discuss for a bit and pool resources. I have some gold but am going to be stingy to help purchase vital gear. After that I will throw in on the guide of course.
Egan 'Little Fire' Thermogauge |
Egan had a lot of gold to start but had to spend most of it to have the riding dog, since one was likely not going to be available later. He may end up in someone's debt initially. He has 2 gold atm.
Sergei Malov |
I've got a bit more cash. I'm more weight limited than gold limited at the moment. I probably want to spend a little of it at the Trading Post though.
OOC, I don't think we'll have much trouble covering her until we can find a little loot.
OTOH, if we have to feed her as well...
We're paying her less than the cost of trail rations per day.
Andrej 'Catfoot' |
Guys, kid you not - my computer HD is corrupted badly and my access is gonna be dodgy while I secure a replacement and transfer files/set up - any one of you can feel free to run Andrej for a day or three. I am VERY much still playing but the IT guys are amazed I am even able to get on line at all and suggest a total crap out is on the cards in the next day or two - new HD is on the way
DM_Ego |
Hey all, just so you know tomorrow my local gaming group is starting back up again after a few months off, I'll still be posting but you may notice that i only post once or twice on a wednesday and not at all on wednesday evenings (GMT). Don't worry, I'm still with you and i have plenty of time to dedicate to you when I'm supposed to be working! :D

Ah, we had a pathfinder binge for about 6 months so everyone needed a break. We're starting up a Dark Heresy game tonight, looking forward to random character generation for everyone rather than some people making combat monsters and some people making rogues (no offense Sergei), looks like a fun system and i especially like the method of wound/critical allocation via locations and increasing severity.
My new baby is 3 weeks old today and mummy has a good handle on her now so i'm not needed at home as much. Unfortunately my old gaming group met absolutely miles from my house and new baby combined with new job ment i couldn't stick with their start at 9pm finish at 1am schedule,
My new group (which contains a few members of my old group) meet up at a friends house who is about a 15 min walk from my house, and we start at about 7pm. So its much better all round for me.

I need to introduce you to my third PFS character - a strength 20, spring attacking, half orc, tusked, scout archetype, rogue with a great axe. Truly a combat monster rogue...

But you still only get one sneak attack every round even with the scout archtype, your to hit is lower than a proper combat class and your using a great axe! Nah, rogues can be built to be effective, just not as effective as other classes. They do make it up in skill usage but you need quite a bit of system mastery to pull off a really great rogue.
Everyone forgotten about the gameplay thread btw? Is it just too cool in here? :p

The stock rooms contain...
a suit of leather armor, a heavy wooden shield, two hand axes, five javelins, a longbow, two dozen arrows, a scythe, two spears, two potions of cure light wounds, a potion of shield of faith +2, two vials of antitoxin, six torches, two weeks of trail rations, a number of animal furs which you would need to roll appraise on, and a chest containing various denominations of coin which you would need to count, two barrels of drinking water, a half-full barrel of lantern oil, three common lamps, a dozen candles, a week’s worth of firewood, a hooded lantern, 70 feet of hemp rope, a tent, and enough food (mostly cheese, hard bread, and dried venison) to last for 2 weeks.
if you guys would like to agree on a plan of action either in character or in the discussion thread and then post a write up of what each person is doing (ie. Phiona is standing in square K5 hiding behind a barrel ready to close the gate) then roll initative that would be nice.
FOR THE LAST TIME COULD YOU ALL PLEASE CHANGE YOUR PROFILES TO CONTAIN THE SAME PERCEPTION, INITATIVE, HIT POINT, ARMOUR CLASS AND SAVE INFORMATION AS EGAN AND DOMITIAN I WOULD VERY MUCH APPRECIATE IT.
Just write it all into the class/levels box in the same manner.
Phiona |
done, could we just grab the item, or I would have to pay for them?
Oh snap, please tell me the gate open inward and not outward.
If it's inward, then hiding behind L19 or M19, to close the door on the left (facing outward) and hiding behind R19 or maybe R20 to close the one on the right.
Andrej 'Catfoot' |
we could put the wagon near o/p 18 and 19 or there abouts and hide in the back under some tarps and stuff. we slide out and push it into place blocking the doors and put wedges into the wheels... or even in P/Q and have it sideways... allows only for one gate to be pushed in (we will leave it open) and again just roll it into place.
Alagor Faelan |
Hmmm, it seems I can not find this information in the threads "backlog", but did we ask them if there are any spellcasters/priests in the bandits group?
EDIT: Oh, yes, profile updated as requested ;-)
Egan 'Little Fire' Thermogauge |
Egan will survey the area from the walls, noting areas of likely cover out side the fort and the likely avenues of approach.
For the ambush he plays to be in the shed with Alagor.
DM_Ego |
I need a grid reference, and a basic idea of what you will be doing. Ie. Head under a blanket waiting for noise or hiding behind a barrel peaking round ready to close the gate or laying flat on the wall top waiting to get up and cast a spell etc. Also where do you want the Levertons in all this, hiding in the house or waiting to meet the badits. Amza is planning on staying inside the gest quarters.
Theres no rush, take your time and get your plan ready. After that you can all roll initiative.
Alagor Faelan |
As I said Alagor is positioning at R10/Q10 (not sure where, in which square the door opens, so wherever is faster to exit in one of those two squares) behind the door which are left slightly ajar, peaking outside.
His intention for first round is to go outside and try to Intimidate them into surrender (or simply charge/fight them if the "party" already started). He will have on himself, but do not plan to use it before the start of the fight, Shield of Faith potion Egan suggested.
A rules question - I can not be both in Total Defense and use Intimidate skill, since both are standard actions, right?
Phiona |
Assuming when the gate opens it'll take up N19 & N20. And so standing on M19 would get me cover since it seems like the gate would touch the guest house and seal off that passage towards the stair.
I won't be doing the barricade, consider I need to open a sleep spell with my surprise round.
Hmm actually I don't think I could close the gate and cast spell could I?
If I could I'll do that, If I couldn't then I'll hide S20 on top of the balcony thinggy, hiding (behind a barrel that I moved up there).
Depending if I get a surprise round. If I do, then I'll cast "sleep" for my surprise round. If I don't then Hopefully I have a high enough initiative to do so.
In conclusion, I think it's best if I hide on S20, rather than closing the gate.
So could someone take my position?
Domitian |
I'm going to go with Sleep, and Cure light wounds. My healing hex only works once every 24hrs/person. I will back stay hidden on the battlement (L20 or S20) and use my hexes and crossbow until healing is required.
DM_Ego |
Sleep has a 1 round casting time, so you would not be able to cast it in a surprise round as you only have a standard action. In a round that you cast sleep you cast the spell and then all you can do is take a 5 foot step.
You can begin casting sleep in the surprise round and use a standard action to complete the casting on your next turn, but that would leave you open to making a conentration check if any of the bandits were to act before you and make an attack.
Phiona |
I see I'll do the casting at surprise round and on next turn finish casting it.
I think standing on the gate would do best for me. So any of the S20, T20 or U20 would do me good, as I could 5ft step out and be in line of view to the bandit.
Egan 'Little Fire' Thermogauge |
I had asked for an explanation of previous bandit visits. Do they all come into the fort, or do some stay outside? Where have they normally encountered Oleg? etc?
Egan will start in R9 inside the shed. He would like the door slightly open if that works for Alagor, so they can hear what is going on. Just before the bandits enter the compound Egan will cast Produce Flame and so will be holding a flame in one hand when combat starts.
I think both Phiona and Domitian should be on the walls with the ladder(s) pulled up. Considering the range of the sleep spells, maybe you need to be on opposite sides of the gate. ???
