Not sure where to take the conversation... was hoping he'd be a bit more chatty or that the others would ask more questions of their own.

He's relatively chatty for a prisoner, i can't really see him asking questions in return. I'm sure everyone will have a question or two to ask eventually.

I had a late night running my home game. They finished a tough 5 session module called The Harrowing. Final encounter was an adult blue dragon that got the drop on the group. Two deaths. One in the surprise round. I have now killed that player 3 times. Con 10. I do not recommend Con of 10 or less. Twice he died where a con of 12 would have kept him alive.

I will post more questions today.

Yeah - it amazes me how many ppl think Con is a dump stat...

Just got home and knackered, update map in 12 hours.

Con is relative though Egan, a pally can take 10 con in a low point buy and survive. As can a well played full caster, but i'd buy con seconrary all the time.

maps up to date btw and the bandit has kindly named all the rivers for you.

what happened to the young bandit we left tied to a tree?

Paladin of Erastil-3/ Init:+1, Perception:-1, AC:18/11/17, CMD:19, HP:28, Fort:6 (11 vs cold), Ref:4, Will:4

We didn't tie him to a tree. He is with Silva. That is Todd.

Lets aim for a decicion in the next 12 hours, i'm just heading home from work so that would be by the time i'm getting up for work again.

Don't want to get bogged down in a moral quandry again.

M Gnome - Alternalte Racial Traie Pryomaniac Oracle of Fire / 3 (Per: +1 Init:+1 HP 21/21 AC: 20/12/18 F: +1 R: +1 W: +2)

Egan suggests (votes?) to spare these men's lives and even pardon them IF they agree to a future free of banditry and other crime, and agree to not help in any way, including warning, the other bandits. They should swear some oath that binds them; maybe one they help come up with. If it could include some duty to the sword lords or their kingdom that would even be better.

As to horses, Maksim was suggesting we would be better off without them and now Silva is saying we must have them. We need some consensus on this too. This might be decided by the general lack of horses. I an not sure any were to be had at the trading post, were there?

Paladin of Erastil-3/ Init:+1, Perception:-1, AC:18/11/17, CMD:19, HP:28, Fort:6 (11 vs cold), Ref:4, Will:4

DM Ego:
How long to clear a hex on horseback? How long on foot?
What chance of fatigue walking versus on a mount?
How many wandering monster checks per hour searching?

I vote to let the three bandits swear an oath.

I plan to get a horse when possible.

The minimum time to explore a hex on horseback is 1 day but it does incrase depending on the terrain, on foot the minimum time is 2 days per hex once again depending on terrain.

I roll checks per day so walking would potentially double your random encounters. Thats not to mention that horses can outrun trolls and people in armour can't.

Exactly: Trolls bad...fast horses good!

Was slammed yesterday. Will try to take charge of that this afternoon.

I'm hangin them other wise :)

M Gnome - Alternalte Racial Traie Pryomaniac Oracle of Fire / 3 (Per: +1 Init:+1 HP 21/21 AC: 20/12/18 F: +1 R: +1 W: +2)

lol! Egan is not above hanging men that need hanging. But he sees it as a shame and a waste. There has to be a better 'use' for these men.

So i have been reading character submitions over the weekend and i just thought i'd ask you guys what you thought. I have a couple of favourites but i like to hear from the players as well.

Paladin of Erastil-3/ Init:+1, Perception:-1, AC:18/11/17, CMD:19, HP:28, Fort:6 (11 vs cold), Ref:4, Will:4

I sent you two PMs.

M Gnome - Alternalte Racial Traie Pryomaniac Oracle of Fire / 3 (Per: +1 Init:+1 HP 21/21 AC: 20/12/18 F: +1 R: +1 W: +2)

I have played with Edward, and would recommend him, but he has withdrawn, IC, Egan strongly recommends the hot, er, charismatic gnome sorceress. :)

No preference but someone who has a record that they can maintain a post a day is best

Cleric / 3 (Per:+4, Init+3, HP 18, AC: 14/13/11 F:+3 R:+4 W:+5)

Many of the submissions are excellent. There are a number that are outstanding as indivduals and two that have backgrounds easily made compatible.

If you are willing to have a pair added, Caladwhen and Culline could be related (easy change) and come as a pre-made team. I like the writng on their backgrounds the best. Calawhen's player (Calainthas) has no real post history, and Culline's (littlehewy)'s is limited but good so far. Having two come in guards against player drops but fewer keeps the group cozy.

Joy, the player of Arielle Windsong, the gnome sorcerer, has an excellent post record and count. Her character is well-built and has an okay reason to be in the Stolen Lands, but could be made deeper.

Sune is the most orignal character submitted. Backstory is helpful in that it explain why even though she is fae, the character is still unfamiliar with the Stolen Lands, a bit more on motive would help.

I guess I split my recommend across all of them, but Sune seems to have the most style to offset my character's determined ordinariness. Except for the rogue, most others would work well; nothing bad, I just wasn't as taken by their presentations as the above.

Captain Indecisive strikes again! :p

6 players should be cool

Paladin of Erastil-3/ Init:+1, Perception:-1, AC:18/11/17, CMD:19, HP:28, Fort:6 (11 vs cold), Ref:4, Will:4

Both Arielle and Sune are players I am well familiar with. Both are excellent RPs and reliable posters. You can check out:

1) Sune:Mumbata
2) Arielle: Lucrezia

These are their aliases in my games. I also RPed with Arielle in another campaign that is dragging and she was great!

I would vote for one of these two.

Paladin of Erastil-3/ Init:+1, Perception:-1, AC:18/11/17, CMD:19, HP:28, Fort:6 (11 vs cold), Ref:4, Will:4

If we pick up two new characters, I would like to give one of these two (if the other is picked) a chance to reroll a class we need (since they both submitted sorcerers). I think that highly of them both!

Hmm, i put some thought into selecting two but at this stage in the game i feel that having a fifth player giving you a slightly easier time on a 4 person game is less drastic than having a sixth person go missing and leaving you under manned for an encounter.

I think you've all said very much what i was thinking, its always a shame picking one out of such a good bunch.

Back to the game itself i think when the snows clear you can do some swift exploring and clear some hexes out. So far you've hit all the hexes with the relatively long encounters in the north of the map, thankfully not every hex has a combat encounter so i think we will see faster progress for a while now.

M Gnome - Alternalte Racial Traie Pryomaniac Oracle of Fire / 3 (Per: +1 Init:+1 HP 21/21 AC: 20/12/18 F: +1 R: +1 W: +2)

It sounds like the plan is to pick up our guide and then head back to the Trading Post. But maybe we can do that through some unexplored hexes?

This is what I would like to do.

If your getting some horses i'd recommend bee lining for the trading post and heading back out mounted. If your not bothering with horses having an explore with your followers in tow wouldn't hurt.

Bee line then. I think we decided to do horses.

M Gnome - Alternalte Racial Traie Pryomaniac Oracle of Fire / 3 (Per: +1 Init:+1 HP 21/21 AC: 20/12/18 F: +1 R: +1 W: +2)

Agree. Bee line.

Grab your loot and do somethng then, i'm gonna go over my decicion for the new player again tonight before i announce it. Still torn between my favourites, once you get yourselves sorted in the gameplay thread i'll narrate your trip back to Oleg's roll random encounters and get the next at the trading post ready.

Cleric / 3 (Per:+4, Init+3, HP 18, AC: 14/13/11 F:+3 R:+4 W:+5)

Yep, I'm for bee-lining as well.

Welcome Arielle. Could you set the bit under your name the same as everyone else if you please, init, per, saves, ac, hp, etc. I'll drop you a pm when i get a spare few mins about your journey to Olegs.

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Bard / 1 ||HP: 8, AC: 13/11/13, Saves: W+2/R+4/F+0, CMB/CMD: +2/+14, Init: +2, Perc: +4

Quick question: The pioneer trait says I start with a horse, but shall I assume it's okay to substitute a mount more suited for my size? Like a pony or a riding dog?

Yes, thats sensible.

M Gnome - Alternalte Racial Traie Pryomaniac Oracle of Fire / 3 (Per: +1 Init:+1 HP 21/21 AC: 20/12/18 F: +1 R: +1 W: +2)

Go dog. We can form a pack. :)

Dog it is then. :)

Did you pick any specific breed or just a mutt?

Paladin of Erastil-3/ Init:+1, Perception:-1, AC:18/11/17, CMD:19, HP:28, Fort:6 (11 vs cold), Ref:4, Will:4

Looks like I'll have to do a dire wolf then ;)

M Gnome - Alternalte Racial Traie Pryomaniac Oracle of Fire / 3 (Per: +1 Init:+1 HP 21/21 AC: 20/12/18 F: +1 R: +1 W: +2)

Oh, that would be sweet. lol

How about a this one or this monstrous thing. :)

M Gnome - Alternalte Racial Traie Pryomaniac Oracle of Fire / 3 (Per: +1 Init:+1 HP 21/21 AC: 20/12/18 F: +1 R: +1 W: +2)

I like the second one. I had detailed what kind of dog Sparky is, but have actually forgotten. Gotta go look again.

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Bard / 1 ||HP: 8, AC: 13/11/13, Saves: W+2/R+4/F+0, CMB/CMD: +2/+14, Init: +2, Perc: +4

Irish Wolfhound it is then. :)

I think that pic of one is big enough for me to ride irl.

Gonna give you a while to decide if you want to kill the bear or try and help it out or just carry on. Random encounter table after the storm threw some stuff out that would have been boned by the snow.

M Gnome - Alternalte Racial Traie Pryomaniac Oracle of Fire / 3 (Per: +1 Init:+1 HP 21/21 AC: 20/12/18 F: +1 R: +1 W: +2)

Sorry for my absence today. Just getting home from work. Very long day. I'll be on tomorrow.

I had a pretty rough monday as well to be honest, not even sure why because i didn't actually do that much work. I just spent all day running to stay in one place.

We can catch up a bit this evening anyway and make some plans for exploring a few more hexes this week.
