Ah don't really care what we do now. Holgar adds his two cents as he goes through the fallen's pockets looking for anything that might be interesting.

Prophet nods, and he seems more relaxed again. When he speaks, the timeless warrior's tone has come back into his voice. "A̧g͘r̸e̛e̸d͡.҉ ̶See̡i̶ng̨ ̢a͏s ̸w̴e ͠lost̢ no̵ r͞esou̧rce͝s͘ ҉i̸n͝ ͟t̷ḩi̵s̨ ͜f͢i͝g҉h͠t, ͞we could e̕a͠siĺy͢ purs̴u̸e ̸th̶e͠ ba͟n̷d͡it̴s̛ ͢t҉o t҉he̢ir ća͜m͜p ́a͠nd ̶engag̛e͘ ͝t͏hem ͞t͏her̵e͝.̨ An̨o͟thér͜ ͝swift̶ ͘a͠ss̵a͠ult ͟to ̡s̡end͡ ̀th̵em r̴u̷nni̸n͝g, in th̸is͘ ̢li͏f̸e̶ or͡ ̷the ̕ņext.̡" He grins and wrenches his sword from Happs's body, and with a deft swing, flicks the blood clean from the blade. Theo helps the interrogated Bandit to his feet and shakes his hand, with a warm smile. "Thank you for your assistance. However, this does not mean your crimes are forgotten. Prophet might be onto something, mister Oleg. If you feel you have the space and resources, you might hold these men until we find a more suitable solution. If not... Perhaps we could make use of them? Back in Rostland, jail time could often be lessened with community service."

Male Human Brawler 8/Bard (Archeologist) 2/Slayer 5
House Rules:

"A jail? I... there's a couple old cells in the house, down in the basement. Haven't been down there in a while, though. If'n you want to keep 'em there, we could." He rubs his chin for a moment, scratching his beard as he looks around the fort. "If'n I could have a few of ya stay behind, I could have 'em help repair the walls and such. Think you could spare a few o'your number?"

"We can keep them in line, if need be." Kilarra walks up to the group, with Kayrel and Oxwalder behind her. "If you wish to lead a force to attack this Kressle woman, we can remain here and make sure no retaliatory strikes can be launched on the trading post."

Female Half-Elf (Spireborn) Magus (Kensai) 2 | HP: 17/17 | AC: 18, Touch 16, Flat-Footed 12 | CMD: 15 | Fort: +6, Reflex +5, Will +7 | Init: +4 | Perception +8 | Arcane: 5/5, Stamina 3/3

"That sounds like the best idea," Annika quickly agrees. "We can't leave this place undefended if we're going out bandit hunting. If those guards arrive while we're away, please make sure to inform them of where we've gone and try to help them however you can."

Male Human Brawler 8/Bard (Archeologist) 2/Slayer 5
House Rules:

"We'll be fine, just give 'em hell." Oleg claps Theo on the back, then looks to the rest of the party again. "Be careful, though. There're some dangerous beasts out there in the Stolen Lands, more than bandits. I'm sure they could tell ya that," he says, gesturing with a thumb back towards the bandits.

Male Dwarf Bolt Ace/ 2; Health (22/22); AC 18; Init 4; Perc Mod 7; Grit 2/2

"I'm sure you'll have plenty of time for that later, master dwarf. But we have little time to hunt down the remainder of these brigands before they pack up their camp and move on. If we lose them now, then our missions becomes that much harder. Come now, it's time to hunt!"

Male Half-Orc Medium (Relic Channeler) 2 | HP 5/18 | AC 15, touch 11, FF 14, CMD 15 | Fort +2, Ref +2, Will +4 | Init +1, Perception +5 (darkvision 60 ft)

With that, he retrieves his bag from the storage house, slings the greatsword's scabbard around his waist and straps it to his belt, and sets off toward the gate of the compound, trusting the others to grab the map and follow.

Theo smiles at the irony of telling a Paladin to "give 'em hell". He shakes Oleg's hand. "Thank you, my friend, for all your hospitality. I'll leave you in the capable hands of fhese three. Farewell, Oleg. Hopefully we'll meet again soon."

Sorry for my slow activity, guys. Between an inhumane work schedule and certain recent life events, I've been busy. But I'm trying. Also, wasn't I going to buy some assorted items? It's been a while, I forget.

Male Human Brawler 8/Bard (Archeologist) 2/Slayer 5
House Rules:

I think you were? You can either add it to the sheet or wait until you guys return, either is fine with me.

As the party rides forward out of the trading post, the forest quickly swallows them up, the wide roads narrowing into game trails, barely wide enough for horses. Eventually, even the game trails die off, leaving your horses to pick through roots and underbrush. Aside from a few stumbles, you don't run into any problems with your exploration, until you manage to spot two men moving their way through the woods, moving the direction opposite of yourselves. At this distance, it's hard to tell whether or not they're aware of you yet.

I assume no perception check on our part is required to spot the main party ...

Creon notices the unfamiliar figures moving the forest and takes care to alert Gallidren without breaking pace. He makes a short clicking sound beneath his mask to get Gallidren's attention and, when he has eye contact, nods in the direction of the other party. There have been several such encounters in the last few weeks, none of them good. If there's talking to be done, Gallidren will do it. Creon knows, that for his own part, he'll hinder (and perhaps frighten) rather than help.

He loosens his pack, ready to drop it if necessary. His grip tightens on his bow.

He continues the pace, waiting on Gallidren's lead.

Gallidren nods at Creon and motions to move forward towards the party. Silently they creep with weapons ready. As they approach, Gallidren pauses, searching for the tell tail signs of evil or ill-intent. The half-elf wears a symbol of Shelyn. And ... could that be? Yes, she wields an Aldori dueling sword! A fellow Rostlander. And the human - could he be a paladin? These are no bandits!

Gallidren turns to Creon and motions for him to lower his weapon. He then approaches the group with his hands raised, "Greetings friends - we come in peace! We are soldiers from Brevoy. We are the only surviving members of an expeditionary force sent to clear the Greenbelt of banditry. Thank Erastil that we found you! I am Gallidren and this is my friend Creon."

Annika halts for a moment as the stranger approached, her hand going reflexively to her blade. Far too many people in the Stolen Lands are bandits or worse. His story does bring a raised eyebrow. "More warriors from Brevoy? And a kinsman of mine too. What are they doing out here?"

"Pardon my caution, but can you prove that claim? We have heard nothing of others in the area and we had to repel a group of raiders from Oleg's Trading Post not an hour ago. There could be more lurking about."

Gallidren nods and slowly retrieves a worn parchment from the scroll case at his belt and hands it to the half elf. "Here is our charter. We are sponsored by several Issian nobles. Our two groups must have entered the greenbelt from different directions. Perhaps you found the bandits we were hunting. Our expedition was uneventful until we came upon an abandoned temple of Erastil. I thought finding the temple was a good omen, but perhaps it had been abandoned for a reason." Gallidren shudders as he recalls the events of that fateful night. "Just before dawn our group was attacked by undead. The ghouls killed four of our men and would have killed me also if it hadn't been for Creon's quick thinking. We're lucky to be alive. May we join your group? I fear that we will not make it back to civilization otherwise. I have some arcane ability and Creon is deadly with that bow. Perhaps we can assist you with these bandits."

Female Half-Elf (Spireborn) Magus (Kensai) 2 | HP: 17/17 | AC: 18, Touch 16, Flat-Footed 12 | CMD: 15 | Fort: +6, Reflex +5, Will +7 | Init: +4 | Perception +8 | Arcane: 5/5, Stamina 3/3

Annika examines the charter for a moment. "It would have been nice to know that there were others out here. This is the second time that we've heard of another group of soldiers out of Rostland that no one bothered to tell us about." Her hand drops from her sword and she relaxes a little bit. "Undead too... and I thought we'd only have to deal with bandits and wild beasts."

Male Human Brawler 8/Bard (Archeologist) 2/Slayer 5
House Rules:

As the two groups move to speak to one another, they both slowly realize that they are not alone. Not too far east of them, a group of kobolds appear to be moving about quite suspiciously, gathering something in a secretive fashion. While most of them seem to be unaware of you, two of them appear to have spotted you all, and seem to be moving to brandish their spears.

Creon makes his clicking sound again, his alert signal to Gallidren. He drops his loosened pack and readies his bow, waiting on a signal from his friend.

Gallidren puts a hand on Creon's shoulder and whispers, "As much as I dislike kobolds, I'm not anxious to start a fight. Cover me."

He then cautiously approaches the kobolds with his hands up, and addresses them in draconic.

Draconic:

"Put your weapons down, we mean you no harm. We are here to kill bandits, not kobolds. If you are willing to talk with us, possibly we can assist each other."

Male Android Slayer (Sniper) 2 | HP 21/21 | AC 18, touch 15, FF 13; Fort +4, Ref +8, Will +0 | Init +5; Perc +7; darkvision 60 ft., low-light vision

Creon's bow is readied but not aimed. He keeps a close eye on the lead kobold but uses the opportunity to check his surroundings for the best place to use his bow in a sustained battle.

Spoiler:
I assume the "lead kobold" is the one to whom Gallidren is speaking, i.e. the closest. I'm looking round for the best place from which to fire my bow on a sustained basis, which will be difficult to access and close for melee. I'll move there if the situation gets hot. This gives me a chance to check the die roller.

Prophet stands down for a moment as the newcomers approach, and though it's tough for him to do so, he lets the half-elf swordswoman do the talking. We ͜are b̶e͏s̡t͏ a̡t̷ ҉k̸i͜ll̶in̶g n̢ow̶, M̢al̡a̡z. It is you who chooses only the blade.

When he notices the kobolds, though, a grin spreads across his face, and he steps forward, drawing the sword out of its scabbard and resting it on his shoulder. He pauses as the new elf steps toward the kobolds and starts talking to them in some other language, and stands by, holding his relic loosely in one hand. If the elf wanted to talk, let him. Sooner or later, the killing would start again. Prophet--and the spirit inhabiting his form--could wait.

Annika's hand goes back to her blade, ready to draw at a moment's notice. She shifts her position to she can move to defend Gallidren if the kobolds attack. "I hope you know what you're doing," she says softly, eyeing the draconic little creatures warily. The last thing they need right now is to lose their potential new friends when they've barely met them.

Male Human Brawler 8/Bard (Archeologist) 2/Slayer 5
House Rules:

As Gallidren approaches a few of the kobolds, their ears perk up. The few near who appears to be their leader pick up their spears, while the rest scramble to pick up their baskets, which seem to be full of radishes. Their leader, a taller kobold with bright blue scales, approaches Gallidren and the group with obvious caution.

"Лъжец! Вие тук, за да ни убият, да вземе храната ни! Точно като груба жена!" he shouts, wavng one clawed finger angrily towards the party. Sparks begin to gather between his claws, and the two kobolds next to him ready their weapons, but do not yet attack the party.

Translation:
"You liar! You're here to kill us, take our food! Just like nasty woman!"

Creon has no idea what kind of conversation is passing between the wizard and the kobold leader. Back when he was with the border gangs, one of their indentured domestics gave him a long lecture about the difference between "book learning" and real wisdom. He gave it short shrift at the time but over the course of his association with Gallidren he's had occasional reason to recall it. Equally, he's been given good cause to trust the elf implicitly.

Despite the size of the kobold band, relatively few of them look like potential combatants. The threatening stance of the leaders is of concern but the others seem to armed with nothing more than small vegetables. Creon remains at readiness but chooses not to aim his bow yet, for fear of exacerbating the situation.

As for the newly encountered expeditionaries, one female (another elf?) seems to be alert to the situation, as well as the large half-orc, currently wearing a disconcerting grin. Behind them - a priest of some kind? He shudders slightly - an awkward conversation to come, no doubt.

He returns his focus to the kobolds, and awaits developments.

Male Human Brawler 8/Bard (Archeologist) 2/Slayer 5
House Rules:

"лъжец! Жена прави лагер на юг от тук, изпраща хора да ни тормозят, крадат храната ни. Защо трябва да ти се доверя? Не по-добре от нея, обзалагам се." The kobold yells angrily, the two spear-men seeming ready to charge. He sniffs one or twice, growling at Gallidren as he eyes the rest of the party. "Защо иначе ще бъдеш ли тук, освен да си помогнете? Не съм виждал други хора тук, така че защо да дойде?!" After shouting down the elf, the kobold seems a little bolder, less on guard than he was before. Those with baskets seem to be edging towards the thicker forest, ready to make a dash from the clearing.

Translation:
"Liar! Woman makes camp south of here, sends men to harass us, steal our food. Why should we trust you? No better than her, I bet."

"Why else would you be here, other than to help her? Haven't seen other humans here, so why come?"

Names Holgar, I'm a bit of a traveler, and I'd love to get some target practice in. O'l green skin back there scared the last batch off before I could have any fun."

sorry bout the absence guys, but I should be back for good.

Creon picks up his pack. He had indeed not noticed the dwarf, previously.

"Assertion: we shall seek out these bandits, then. Well met, my friends."

He pauses.

"Suggestion: The kobolds apparently spoke of bandit scouts in the trees. It might make sense to reconnoitre the area, to remove the scouts and to clear a path to the camp. As for the camp, do we know whether it is fortified, and how many of these bandits are present?"

House Rules:

After discussing tactics and the information learned from those bandits you captured in their assault on the trading post, the party continues southward towards the mouth of the Thorn River, where the bandit camp supposedly lies. Leaving the kobolds behind, it takes you another several hours of marching before you near the mouth of the river. By the time you reach the lake the river feeds from itself, the sun has just set beyond the tree line. Not much farther down, you can clearly see what looks to be a bonfire of some sorts burning along the opposite riverbank.

What do you do?

For sake of convenience, I moved you all along. Creon and Gallidren, the party has no knowledge of how well fortified the camp might be; the warning from the kobolds is the first any of you got as to how they're defending the camp.

"We don't know much about how these brigands are entrenched, so knowledge of the sentries is a boon to us." As they approach the camp, Annika frowns slightly. "We should find the sentries first and try to disable them silently. It will allow us to plan our attack with impunity if we can examine the outer edge of the camp without being spotted. As long as we're cautious, we should be able to form a viable plan of attack."

Holgar eyes the trees warily while readying his crossbow. "The lizards said something about them hidin in the trees right? Might help if we find them all first, then we can knock the båstårds down before getting to the camp."

Gallidren nods and whispers, "Creon, do you think you can scout ahead and find the sentries?"

Creon nods, re-affixes his mask and disappears into the undergrowth.

Jon:
In my experience handling scouting is very much a GM decision, some relevant rolls:

Survival: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

... Assuming the rolls I can see in the preview are carried into the post, I probably take 10 on perception.

House Rules:

Paizo has a system in place which saves all relevant dice rolls, so they will always carry over.

As Creon moves slowly through the growth and underbrush, it becomes plainly obvious that this is the bandit encampment. Men can be seen standing around a roaring fire, roasting from the smell of it some kind of meat. As you explore the area, it quickly becomes obvious there are only a few locations that could support any kind of structure holding bandits. Sure enough, looking through the heavier groups of trees, you spot what looks to be a few guard posts set into the higher boughs of the trees. From what you can tell, most of these guard posts hold two bandits, both armed with crossbows.

Numbers in the camp are difficult to estimate, but it's likely that most of those you heard fled from the trading post have fallen back here.

thanks!

Jon:

can I count the number of guard posts/sentry pairs that I can see?

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
