male Elf Wizard 1

The thought was to place it among the other 'tribute' on the wagon as a kind of IED that would be triggered by Mage Hand, once one of the bandits picked it up. So I guess it's the wagon that might go up. Another excellent reason for the melee characters to hide in the barn.

Also, the bandits are expected the next morning, yes? Meaning Arial could memorize different spells for the battle?

The elf turns to Caleb and asks, "Is there a store of oil in the post that could be spared?"

Male Human

Oh would love to see the look on those bandits faces ;) Yes different spells can be learned.

"There is a some oil, I will get the Boy to fetch it. Boy, get out here!!!" Suddenly a young boy of maybe 13 bursts from the stables, startling the horses. Bits of hay and dirt fall off him as he charges across the ground towards Caleb. "Bring the oil over if you will young Jorvac."

Jorvac smiles and silently runs off, soon after he had dissappeared he returns with a small cask of oil that holds about 2 litres. He hands it over to Arial.

Tam nods and moves over the the guest house. He washes up and then looks over his equipment, checking for any travel damage. Once he has cleaned and inspected his gear he picks a bed and gets some shuteye so that he will be alert bright and early tomorrow morning.

male Elf Wizard 1

Arial plants the cask of oil on the ground a few feet away from the wagon, propping it up on a rock so the lid is pointed at the ground. He arranges the grass and such so that it will look casually dropped. When his trap is planted, he begins to make notes on the damselfly he discovered this morning, before climbing up to his position on the wall to study his spellbooks and then sleep.

Will use Open to open the cask of oil when the bandits are first spotted, letting the oil leak out onto the ground and hopefully be ignited by splash damage from the alchemist's fire. To think, I didn't want to play a blaster.

Once finished with his task, Caelus goes to find a place to sleep. Bunking down for the night and preparing for tomorrow

Female Human Cleric / 1 - - (Perception +3, Initiative +2, AC: 17/12/15, HP: 7/8, Saves - W:+5, R:+2,F:+2)

Once she is done with her little walk, Kaylee will find a place to sleep for the night as well.

Female Human Rogue 1

'Well, I suppose some sleep is in order, given our early rise tomorrow.'

Despite knowing how she needs to get up early tomorrow, Shalia would still take some time looking over the guest house and fussing over her bed, exclaiming how it was never this bad back in Absalom. Eventually though, she'd get some sleep to prepare for tomorrow's early start.

Male Human

Svetlana makes sure that everyone is fine with their guest house quarters before retiring to her bed for the night. You fall asleep to the rhythmic sounds of a guards footsteps.

Once in the night, when the moon was at it's fullest, an owl swooped down and snatched a mouse, that had climbed the walls, in it's deadly talons.

You awake to the sound banging on the door and Oleg shouting "Up and ready, got bread out here. We got and hour by my count." The room was still dark, dawn had not yet broken.

As you make your ways outside you see one of the tables had one bowl of bread, one bowl of fruit and a jug of water. Oleg seems pleased and hums a little tune inbetween speaking "Haven't filled the wagon up, just put a single skin covering it." He looks around and breathes in deep [b]"Better get in positions while you have the time. My guards will be inside the house with Svetlana. I am not risking my wife or child more than needed. I will open the gates when they get here and try and keep there attention before you attack." He looks at you all for several seconds before smiling and walking away to look out over the wall, First Day of freedom.

Once you guys are ready to start. We can get this party rolling.

Male Human-Taldan Fighter (Aldori Swordlord) || Init +6 | Perc -1 | AC 17 / T 14 / FF 13 | HP 10/10 | Saves F +2/R +4/W -1

Caelus checks the scabbard of his sword, making sure it is still finely oiled and pliable. He runs through the future fight in his head, planning out all possible outcomes.

He quickly eats breakfast before setting himself up in the stables, watching for the bandits to approach.

male Elf Wizard 1

Reassuring himself that Alger was not the mouse taken by the owl, Arial opens the oil cask, allowing it to leak slowly onto the ground. The alchemist's fire is placed on the skin covering the wagon. He looks around the area and stifles his nervousness with calculations of temperature and explosive properties.

"Well. Luck smile on us all. It, er, might be best to hang back until after the oil goes up." Then he assumes his position on the wall to the left of the gate, his quiver at his back and his bow propped up against the wall beside him.

Female Human Cleric / 1 - - (Perception +3, Initiative +2, AC: 17/12/15, HP: 7/8, Saves - W:+5, R:+2,F:+2)

Upon awakening, Kaylee will first offer up her daily prayers to Erastil before joining the others breakfast. After eating lightly she will double check her weapons and then go ready herself in her position above the wall.

Female Human Rogue 1

Shalia would, upon being woken so early, complain bitterly about having her beauty sleep interrupted. But after a few moments, she'd start on her morning rituals of getting washed and cleaned, making sure she looks good.

Eventually, with barely a few minutes left before the hour is up, she'd stride out of the guest house with her leather armour on, rapier at her side and crossbow hidden beneath her cloak. Taking up position in the stables, she'd quickly eat a bit of bread and slink into the shadows.

Silver Crusade

Male Human Paladin 1(Divine Hunter)

After rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, Tam gets up and grabs a bit of bread. After a quick prayer for victory and an equipment check, He grabs a nearby ladder and climbs up to the roof of the guesthouse. He finds a likely spot near the cart and hides as best he can. He is ready.

Stealth check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

Do you want a specific square for my position?

Male Human

Just the last person settles themselves into position you hear Oleg shout "Time has come." He steps down from the walls and opens up the gates before turning away and moving over behind the cart.

It takes several minutes before you hear thump of horse hooves against packed dirt. You hear vulgar shouting and hooting calls one voice stands out from the crowd "I say this time we take more than just their stuff."

They leave their horses outside and stride into the trading post "Hey chubby, where's the wife." They are so confident they pay no attention to their surroundings. One Bandit with his hood up covering the entirety of his waits just outside the gate. One of the Bandits speaks to him warily "Happs have we still got the present." The hooded man pulls on a rope dragging forward a strange Albino Tengu, his hands are bound yet he stands straight and tall. Happs, the hooded man, speaks eerily tilting his head sideways. "Why yes." His voice sounds strangely muffled.

The other Bandit smiles and pulls on the cloth covering the cart, seeing only a strange jar he picks it up "What do you call this piece of..." Oleg butts in quickly "That is worth more than everything else I own please just take it and go." The Bandit smiles...

  • Tam
  • Avizzi
  • Shalia
  • Bandits
  • Kaylee
  • Happs

Just post in any order down to the Bandits please :).

Assuming that the bandit next to the cart 3 squares in front of me is the one who picks up Arial's gift. Realistically, he would have placed the oil either one square NE (down and right) (thinking that more would be between cart and gate) Unsure if we are doing initiative yet, or if I can just go, using Mage Hand to spring my trap. Also unsure if I need to roll?

Caelus would be by the door when the bandits came in

Caelus watches from the stable door and waits until the alchemist fire goes off.

    Ready Action until Arial posts

    male Elf Wizard 1

heh. You rolled initiative while I was typing that.
From his vantage point on the wall, Arial watches for the moment when the bandit holds his jar up, and then mutters an incantation, popping the lid off the jar. Contact with air ignites the contents, and...
Leaving it to you to determine what the results of my foolishness are. To spare you looking it up if you don't have it at your fingertips, alchemist's fire does 1d6 and 1d6 the following round, 1 pt splash damage in 5' radius. Hopefully igniting the oil, which burns for 2 rounds doing 1d3 to anyone in the square(s). Not sure how much ground 2 liters covers. If I need to make a roll, 1d20 ⇒ 9, meh that's not so great, but hopefully there are relevant modifiers.

    Female Human Rogue 1

Shalia would be by the door when the bandits came in as well, crossbow out

Watching stealthy from the doorway, taking careful aim at the northern most bandit with her crossbow, ready to fire once Arial's bomb goes off.

Ready Action until Arial's actions are resolved.

    EDIT: Good point Tam.

EDIT: You know what? That's a bit silly. I know what I'm going to do, so I should just roll.

The bandits have made their first (and probably last) mistake with Avizzi, hehehe

The tengu reacts quickly to the explosion of flame from the barrel and the sequential opening of combat. Screaming in a language that no one else can understand (Tengu, various profanities and the like, some involving Happs' heritage), he doesn't even bother to break his bonds-- instead, he leaps into the air and attempts to connect his knee with the head of the hooded bandit.

    Unarmed Strike!
    1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
    1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

    Male Human

The jar suddenly explodes ripping the Bandits hand off and flinging it across the floor, immediately after the explosion a wall of flame rips across the floor. The Bandit that just lost his hand howls in pain as flames tickle at his leg, the smell of burning flesh fills the air. The two bandits closest are also hit by the flames and try frantically to kick them out.

Several arrows suddenly fly out piercing the already surprised Bandits. Tam's arrow punches through the Bandits chest almost killing him instantly, he still stands but barely.

Shalia's arrow chops through a Bandit's back releasing a spurt of blood.

    Initial Damage from Fire:
    1d6 ⇒ 6
    1d3 ⇒ 2
    1
    1
    4

Happs is shocked by the concussion from the explosion and steps back just as Avizzi dives through the air. He manages to dodge the attack more by luck than skill.

Need an action from Caelus unless you are content to wait this round.

    Male Human-Taldan Fighter (Aldori Swordlord) || Init +6 | Perc -1 | AC 17 / T 14 / FF 13 | HP 10/10 | Saves F +2/R +4/W -1

Caelus bursts from the stable door, He comes up behind the first bandit and and draws his sword so fast from his scabbard that it appears as a blur. As he draws it out, he uses an underhand swipe at the bandit.

    Attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
    Damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

    Male Human

The Bandit is quick to react to Caelus' attack and manages to dodge just out of the way.

He stares a second in shock before drawing his short sword and attacking, however with a clang of metal you easily block the attack.

The Bandit that was attacked by Tam draws a bow and slowly pulls back an arrow. He aims at Tam and fires but the arrow simply skitters along the roof.

The other Bandits are on fire, the one that lost his hand stupidly rolls on the ground only serving to cover himself in more oil and fire, his screams continue to ring out. The other Bandits see the lesson and run from the flames and reach of the oil and frantically put the flames out.

They spend the rest of the round putting the flames out.

    Attacks:
    1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
    1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

That is Bandito's done. Kaylee your go now. Then it is Happs then round two.

    Female Human Rogue 1

Could you number the bandits so we know exactly which ones are dead/on fire?

    Male Human

Will get it done now :D good idea :)

    Numbered Map

1: Hit by Shalia's Arrow. Has sword drawn.
2: Currently Burning to a crisp. Lost a Hand
3: Took some fire damage but has tried moving out the way of flames.
4: Again moved away from flames.
5: On last legs. Been hit by Tam's arrow. Has bow drawn.

    Hope this helps

    male Elf Wizard 1

WOO! About to go out for the day, so posting now. When my turn rolls around...

Arial looks down at the chaos below him and smiles, pleased that his ploy was successful, even exceeding his hopes. Grabbing his bow, he takes careful aim at the crispiest bandit (2) and shoots.
    1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
    1d8 ⇒ 5

Kaylee misses a shot at the masked leader.

    Male Human

The arrow lands at the Happs' feet. However he barely notices, instead he concentrates on the strange monk that just attacked him.

He draws a dagger and you hear him laugh your "How do you possibly hope to defeat me." He slashes out with the dagger but Avizzi manages to dodge his over confident attack.

    Dagger Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Caelus reverses the slash as it misses the Bandit (number 1). He follows through with a quick backwards slash across the upper torso of the bandit.

    Attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
    Damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

    Female Human Rogue 1

Drawing her rapier, Shalia would move between Bandit #1 and Oleg, dramatically striking a pose as she gets ready to charge Bandit #5 on her next turn.

'You didn't expect this, you Brigands! Now you die!

Male Human Monk (Martial Artist) 1

Avizzi easily sidesteps the bandit leader's clumsy slash, his years of training being more than sufficient to counter this oaf's attack. Taking barely a pause to rebalance, the tengu unleashes a flurry of attacks: first, he leaps to the side, moving further into the trading post (a five foot step), and kicks out at the hooded bandit's knees, trying to trip him up.

    Trip: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

After this (presumably) fails, Avizzi swings his arms across, trying to knock the man's dagger from his hands, before Avizzi lands easily and falls instantly into a ready stance.

    Disarm: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16

Tam grins when his arrow strikes true. A low whistle escapes his mouth when the flames erupt and engulf the main group of bandits. The wizard is a clever one, for sure.

His attention shifts back to the gravely wounded bandit he shot a moment before, as a badly aimed arrow hits the roof next to him. "Bad idea.." he growls, as he draws back another arrow and aims for the heart.

    Male Human

    Round 2

Arial fires at the the burning crispy bandit, his arrow luckily strikes true hitting the bandit(2) in back, his body is consumed by the lingering flames.

Caelus' attack lands true slicing deep through the Bandit's(1) chest and bursting his heart. It takes a few moments but eventually he drops.

Tam fires but the already wounded Bandit(5) somehow manages to dodge he smiles a bloody smile before aiming once more however a grimace of pain sends the arrow wide.

    1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

Avizzi knocks the dagger flying from the Happs' hands. It drops on the ground 5ft away. He hisses in awe and fear.

The wagon is now on fire sending rippling waves of heat into the air. The Bandit's(3+4) look about before drawing bows. You see a look of resignation in their eyes before one fires at Arial and the other at Kaylee.

    Arial: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
    Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
    Arial Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 7
    Kaylee: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

One of the Bandit's arrows flies straight past Kaylee and other the wall. However the other arrow punches deep into Arial's stomach. He doubles over in pain but you manage to remain standing.

Wow sorry Arial, take 7 damage. You are now disabled.

    Bandit 1: Dead
    Bandit 2: Dead
Bandit 3: Moved out of flames and just hit Arial.
Bandit 4: Out of flames and has bow drawn ready for another shot.
Bandit 5: On last legs but seems to be in mortal combat with Tam ;)
Happs: Disarmed and scared of the Tengu :P

    Kaylee your up.

Kaylee takes aim and tries to hit the bandit that just shot Arial.

    male Elf Wizard 1

The dice have spoken, no apology necessary. I'm just glad it didn't crit. I do reserve the right to fall dramatically off the wall if I end up bleeding out.
    1d20 ⇒ 1
Ay. Bleeding. I still got 9 more rounds.
The success of his plan and the excitement of battle puts a wide grin on Arial's face. He slumps back against the wall, knees buckling under him as the arrow pierces him. Staring down, the reality of the danger he put himself in sank in, much more slowly than the arrow, and the grin fades.

    Male Human

Kaylee's arrow sinks into the ground just missing her target.

Happs stares at Avizzi from underneath the darkness of his hood. "I never was good with a blade." He draws his bow and moves back 20 feet. "Stay away from me."

Figuring the others can handle the remaining bandits, Kaylee will head over to Arial. Kneeling over to examine his wounds and casting a healing spell upon him.

edit: Geez, can't roll well for attacks, damages or healing. Hopefully I can make up for those poor rolls later on.

Male Human Monk (Martial Artist) 1

"No good with a blade, eh? I could tell from your miserable attempt at an attack, human!" Avizzi spits. Even as he says this, though, he makes a sudden rush at the bandit, forgoing all feints, misdirections, and even defensive consolations for an all-out offense. Leaping into the air, he brings both knees up and in, slamming to each side of the man's jaw-- using his training, the tengu pulls his strike just enough that the man couldn't be killed by the force of the attack.

    Nonlethal unarmed strike:
    1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
    1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Not sure if that'll finish this or not. Doubt it.

Edit: forgot the bonus for charging! Make that attack roll a 14.

    male Elf Wizard 1

Hey, 1hp is substantially better than -1. Especially since I can act again. When my turn rolls around again...
Slowly climbing to his feet, Arial's eyes take in the situation quickly. His fire blazes furiously, and most of the bandits are dead. Seeing the one who shot him still standing, he calls on the full fury of his mystic power to smite the killer.
OK, he's first level, and the full fury of his mystic power is his acid dart. Just wait a couple levels.
    1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10(touch attack) 1d6 ⇒ 4
    Well, I tried.

    Male Human

Kaylee it can only get better ;)

The Bandit sees Caelus drop his friend and he steps away in fear. "You killed my friends. I will never stop till you die." His words are bold but his voice trembles as he speaks. He is just about to notch an arrow when Shalia bursts through the flames like a charging goddess, she stumbles when she lands but the affect is no less terrifying he falls back against the wall terror in his eyes. He is just about to speak when Arial's acid melts into his shoulder, he screams in agony dropping his bow and falling to his knees "I surrender, I surrender!!!"

Avizzi's attack slams into the Happs' face crunching into his teeth and knocking a tooth loose, he stumbles and spits blood onto the ground but he still remains standing. He moves back another 20 feet and nocks an arrow to his bow before taking aim and firing, but he fumbles the shot and the arrow simply drops to the ground.

    Bandit 3: Surrendered.
    Bandit 4: Dead
