Vladimir Ducheski, reporting for duty.
Vladimir Ducheski |
Figured this would be a better place to continue this.
Vladimir Ducheski wrote:" You must be hard of hearing then, pinkskin! The reason.. is to Fight! What more reason do you need? Your type always tries to add morality to the idea when really all you want to do is FIGHT. You train to fight, you build to fight, you aspire.. to fight! Why do all that Flowery dancing if it was not to supplement your inability.. to fight? Why craft weapons and armor if not to fight? See, you cannot answer these questions without making ME right! "Sugua Bran't wrote:Crunch Done...
This man lives by one phrase.
" We were meant to fight! You fight; Then have a feast! You fight; Then taste fine wine! You fight; Then sleep with beautiful women! Hell, FIGHT beautiful Women! Thats what it means to LIVE! "
"Well...I suppose I can agree with you on part of that, Sugua. I have nothing against fine wine, and certainly nothing against sleeping with beautiful women, but the fight must have a reason."
Yep, I can see that these two are going to but heads on a regular basis ;)
"I can see already that you are a creature beyond reason, but the reasons would be defense of the innocent and enforcement of society's laws...something you obviously know little about." Vladimir says smugly.
"Fortunately for you, and perhaps unfortunately for me, I suspect there will be many who share your view point in the Greenbelt that we must deal with. So for know, we should simply agree to disagree."
Sugua Bran't |
" And look at you making accusations about someone without proper knowledge. If I were you I wouldn't through insults around unless I was pretty sure I could win the fight. You act smug because of that.. if you DIDNT want to fight or couldn't fight Im pretty sure your words would be much different. Go ahead, prove me wrong next time. Go up to the next undead, dragon or ravenous monster.. and talk it to death. "
Vladimir Ducheski |
Vladimir sighs, "I will concede that there are foes that are beyond being reasoned with, like the undead and ravenous monsters you reference. On the other hand there are other conflicts that do not have to result in death. Do not get me wrong, those who have violated society's laws should still and will be punished for their transgressions but perhaps death is not the only answer...for the unrepentant, perhaps that is the answer."
"Do not mistake my order for being cowards who are afraid of a battle, should it come to that, simply because we are not blood-thirsty brutes."
Khargol Uzgurn |
"It seems we are to be traveling companions in this expedition. Let us strive together to tame a land that has thus far refused any attempts to do so." Khargol offers, giving the two a brief nod of acknowledgement.
Vladimir Ducheski |
"Welcome to the expedition, Khargol. Do not mind Sugua, he just does not seem to be the type to be too happy about anything unless he is caving something's skull in."
Durielle Omenstar |
Hello everyone! Thank you for the selection, DM Tuyena. I have always been looking for a game which has such stringent requirements regarding posting. It will be neat to see it implemented, and I look forward to contributing. I monitor the PbPs even on my iPhone, so I will try and get at least small posts in the event of a busy day where I am out and about.
Regarding her Trait Drawback Sentimental.
Sentimental: You are sentimental, and your thoughts often stray to the past at inappropriate times. You take a —2 penalty on Perception checks to avoid being surprised and on Reflex saving throws to avoid traps or hazards.
With your permission I would like to RP the opposite in that Durielle is not wistfully musing on the past, but rather confusedly musing on the future. Given her unique class, my intent has been to roleplay her as being distracted by various visions of probable futures. In other words, she can't necessarily control her foresight except when "concentrating" and using her magic (as the spells define their casting time). So, no this is not meant to be a means to metagame in any way, but just explain why she would be distracted and have Perception loss. Plus I can add flavorful little RP touches within my posts related to inner monologue. :-)
I'm really excited to be joining you!
Vladimir Ducheski |
"Greetings, m'lady. Welcome to our merry little band." Vladimir says, with a bow toward the newcomer. "Well merry for the most part if you do not count Sugua" he adds with grin and a shrug in Sugua's direction.
Durielle Omenstar |
Pleased at the polite reception, Durielle smiles and nods her head in acknowledgement.
"Greetings, I am Durielle Omenstar. I was directed here upon receiving my charter from the swordlords. I assume this is our staging area for departure then?"
Khargol Uzgurn |
For the moment, Khargol decides not to participate in the back-and-forth banter between Sugua and Vladimir.
"It seems likely that there will be others to be joining us before we are ready to depart on our actual mission; My given name is Khargol Uzgurn. It is my honor to make your acquaintance, Lady Durielle."
Sugua Bran't |
Sugua chuckles the Lawful types were always predictable, " Sugua Bran't. See your an Elf, haven't seen one of you in a long time. Not exactly common around these parts or the Mountains up in Belkzen. Stay behind me and I'll do all the Fighting "
Durielle Omenstar |
To help keep non-RP stuff from getting lost, I will be spoilering my discussion RP going forward.
"I am pleased to meet you as well, Khargol Uzgurn. As for others, I did see..." Durielle's comment is interrupted as she coughs slightly. "Pardon me. There are some other charters on the clerk's desk. I could see they are still awaiting the Charter Office's seal and signature, but I would anticipate they will be completed in short order, so others should be along shortly. Quite a few folks in that tavern seemed to expecting to get their own charters." Durielle's voice is soft and sounds delicate. She lowers her pack to the ground and stretches her shoulder with a small sigh.
Tying the reins of her her horse to a nearby post, she says, "This is my mare Whisper. She is a gentle horse and has carried me far."
Turning to Sugua, Durielle responds, "Well met, Sugua Bran't. I myself had not seen many other elves until I arrived in town here. My village," a sadness passes through her rheumy eyes, " it did not have very many of my kind. In fact, it was only me."
She smiles at the half-orc, and the pained expression goes back into hiding. "Thank you for your offer of protection. I will do my best not to be a burden. My skills should be useful for determining the best course of action, and I do possess healing magics despite the irony."
Upon her utterance of the word irony, Durielle waves a hand to indicate her own pale and slightly wasted form.
"You should know now that my illness is the price of my power. You needn't worry though, it is not contagious. It is my burden alone to carry." Her smile takes on a weary cast, and a slightly longer coughing spell follows.
Thessk |
"Jalaijatali is the "Rillssong" the Azata Empyreal lord of natural mussic, rapidss, and waterfallss.
The Rillssong is a free-sspirited empyreal lord who ssingss with
the voice of a russhing creek. Her presence can be felt in
the rapidss of a flowing river or beneath the missty casscade
of a waterfall. Sshe loves to teach mortalss the beauty of natural
mussic, from the patter of a ssummer rain to the ssawing of
katydidss."
"Although I am not very good at the creating beautiful mussic part of it yet, I listen to the soundss of nature and try to help them as I can"
Vladimir Ducheski |
"Tomas, Thessk, well met. A pleasure to have you join us on this expedition."
Sugua Bran't |
" Whoa, a Lizardfolk? This certainly will be interesting it seems! So Thessk I'm sure your kind is all about survival and whatnot, eating people and all. So naturally that comes with fighting. As for the other pinkskin... He looks a little light on the armor, my guess is that he is a clothie..cast spells. "
He waved off her warning, " Don't worry about it, I'm not one to get sick and if it happens on the battlefield its fair. Don't confuse my wording either as long as you aren't a burden I won't see you as one. Keep me up I keep you alive too! If I can keep fighting we should be all the better, I don't know what falling down in battle feels like either, much like my other stronger kin. And don't be sad Joy is found out in the frontier and with new people, live every moment to the fullest Durielle-Elf!
Angor Yasok |
And so another half-orc enters the game. The party is now almost half-half-orc. Definitely half Grennskin.Backstory and character personality has not changed but my class is now Skald for better durability.
DM: since the bard is a d8 and the barbarian is d12, would you mind if I changed the skald to d10?
Sugua Bran't |
You cant change it to d10 because Dice have nothing to do with class, its durability is reflected in the fact it can rage which avg gives it the same HP ALSO dice is reflected in BAB, you cant have a d10 AND get 6th spells AND get class abilities that are pretty awesome.
Welcome aboard either way. Have you heard about Gorum our Iron Lord in Armor and Savior?
Durielle Omenstar |
DM Tuyena, will any pre-game RP be "canon" to our game, or will all of this be erased once the gameplay thread arrives?
Sugua Bran't |
I would like it to be but he might have other plans.. it does make for a more healthy introduction rather than 'You all meet randomly in a tavern' situation. You get a feel for the characters early on. BTW is Durielle blind?
Talomyr |

I assume you ran the class change by DM Tuyena before selection?
@DM Tuyena: I know this is getting a bit ahead of things, but which version of the Kingdom building rules do you intend to use, the original version in Rivers Run Red or the updated version from Ultimate Campaign (or something completely different)? Just curious
@The Players: What kingdom roles do you see your characters persuing? Vladimir's sense of entitlement and ego will have him vying for the throne as his preference. (His player on the other hand is open to other avenues).
Sugua Bran't |
The local badass ofcourse. Truthfully if it came down to it, Sugua is already against Vladimir being any type of Throne but He could see something as haughty. No when it comes to him.. as long a he gets to fight/further said situations its fine for him.
He's strong and hardy and not stupid so that can be alot of jobs. Won't matter anyway unless you live that long regardless.
I asked because you have [immune to blindness...]
Angor Yasok |
At first when the concept was more nature based, his deity would have been Gozreh. Now it will most likely be Gorum. Though I think Angor's viewpoint will be slightly more expanded than Sugua's. I think he will be a talker that's not afraid to fight rather than a fighter who is willing to talk.
And yes Talomyr the DM approached me with the suggestion of Skald via PM. I was really on the fence either way but now I get to try out an ACG class and see what all the hub-bub is about.
EDIT: I don't see Angor fulfilling any of those roles. He would be more of an entertainer/fighter. Since Skald's get martial weapon proficiency he might be a trainer.

I played one in a face to face game during the playtest phase. The skald is pretty cool and can certainly hang in a fight.
pinvendor |
I keep picturing Durielle as that ageless (literally) wise woman who lives in the ruins/temple on the hill/mountain overlooking the kingdom's capital that all the locals respect and fear.
I assume this translates into Grand Councillor since Mystic Oracle isn't an actual role.
@Sugua Bran't: Actually Durielle's eyesight is perfect for an elf. In fact it is so good, she can see into the future. ;-)
Sugua Bran't |
@ Talomyr : More likely General than Royal Enforcer, he could care less about criminals and upholding the law, but training guys and sending an army to beat someones face in he is all about.
@pinvendor : Hey, Sugua looks blind too but he can even see in the DARK.. with his EARS.
Sugua's viewpoint is actually quite broad, he just doesnt see the point of trying to mask Fighting for what it is.. and enjoys the act more than anything.
