"I vote for the bold approach. Are we not heroes? Whatever threat looms, we shall meet it with our very best violence." Servayn says predictably, throwing caution to the wind.

Ember grunts his approval, possibly for the first time ever, being of a single mind with Servayn.

"Nothing recent as today, Kals. It looks as if whoever or whatever is in the fort, is probably still there. Well now what?" He asks nobody in particular as he looks on toward the fort, wondering what resides within.

Male Half-orc Inquisitor/6th, AC 21, 55/55 hp

"I agree with Servayn, whoever or whatever faces us we will simply strike down." says Davor considently as he marches forward on his horse, having no fear.

"Okay, then, but be alert." We'll move forward toward the fort on horseback.

Male Half-orc Inquisitor/6th, AC 21, 55/55 hp

ECHO...echo....echo

You make your approach, noticing that the fort is built on a triangle plan. When you are within about thirty feet, two bolts fly from its wooden walls towards the leading warrior, catching him by surprise.
From what I read, Davor would have lead the party at this moment.

Secret Rolls:

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12; 3d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 3) = 6
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12; 3d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 6) = 16

The bolts, aimed at his throat, fortunately bounce off his thick armour!

Two small shapes dodge back behind the wooden wall.

The wooden palisade stands 15 feet tall in front of you...

Kalsgrim raises his bow, ready to put an arrow in anything that moves behind the wooden wall.

Ready action to do just that...

(AC 18, hp 15 of 77) Summoner 9

Is there a gate, and is it open or closed? Assuming closed...

Servayn casts a spell, and everybody feels the rush of arcane speed infusing them.

haste on Kalsgrim, Kriger, Davor, Janku, Ember and himself for six rounds. +30 ft. movement, +1 attack if making a full attack, +1 to attack rolls, +1 dodge bonus to AC and +1 Reflex saves.

He says in Draconic, "Ember, get in there and open that gate."

Ember smiles a ghastly smile and leaps into the air and over the walls, intending to come down inside the fortification and take advantage of the extra move action from haste, if possible, to knock away whatever bar or latch holds the gate closed.

Do we need to roll initiative or something? Not sure what it is we need to do next.

No worries, it's my fault. I'll try to get this show moving. Now that I know I'm around, I'll put more energy into it.

Ember takes to the air. From your vantage point, all you see is it circling the palisade to get to the gate.

Ember intelligence check to figure out how to open the gate: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (4) - 2 = 2

From behind the palisade, you hear a grunt: "Not so simple..."

From the guard tower, two little heads appear and take another surprise shot at Servayn.

Secret Rolls:

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25; 3d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 2) = 9
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24; 3d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 1) = 8

This time, both bolts catch the summoner squarely, catching him in the neck and the liver. (-17 hp to Servayn)

If you guys want to state actions, do so for next round.

When they pop up to take the shots at Servayn, Kalsgrim uses his readied action to return fire at one of them.

(AC 18, hp 15 of 77) Summoner 9

Ember continues to fiddle with the gate, attempting to knock it open.

Servayn draws his newly aquired wand of lightning from his haversack, and pauses, waiting for the archers to stick their heads up again, so that he can give them a taste of retribution...

DC 20 UMD to activate wand, which he'll do as the readied action the next time the archers stick their heads up to fire their ballista or whatever they are. 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (10) + 15 = 25

DC 13 Ref save for half, 5d6 lightning damage, possible bonuses for partial cover... 5d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 3, 6, 2) = 23

Grimacing at the speed at which the little foe dodged his arrow, Kalsgrim calls out "We need to get in there! Their cover is too good in there."

Male Half-orc Inquisitor/6th, AC 21, 55/55 hp

Davor will get off his horse and move forward with his sword at the ready.

AC 24 (25) HP 30/30 AP 8/8

Janku steps to the wounded summoner, and using his armor, and his shield to try and give some cover from the arrows, calls forth the healing grace of Milani to close the grievous wounds.

1d8 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 CLW (Sanctuary)

"Take cover friend". "Their thorns are sharp".

A few seconds pass...

All of you are focussed on the palisade, and, on cue, two small, ugly gnome-looking, heads pop up to shoot crossbow bolts at you, but this time you're ready.

Arrows fly and lightning snakes upward. The air crackles loudly and gets filled with the smell of ozone. One of the small creature collapses, severely burned. The other creature ducks back quickly, opting not to fire. Instead, you hear a loud whistle.

Meanwhile, Ember still tries to put its reptilian brain to work at deciphering the mechanical workings of man. 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (20) - 2 = 18

The gate opens slowly as Davor steps in the keep, sword in hand.

"Let's get inside and see if we can get a good look around. There's at least one more of them somewhere. Servayn, can you tell what that one was?" he asks, indicated the burned small creature. He'll start to move up to support Davor's lead into the fort.

Servayn:

(AC 18, hp 15 of 77) Summoner 9

"They look like spriggans," Servayn says aloud, to Kalsgrim's inquery, "Some sort of degenerate size-changing gnome offshoot."

Thanks be to Old Deadeye they aren't just terrified homesteaders, defending themselves against unannounced visitors... Servayn thinks, momentarily stricken with the knowledge that he may have tragically over-reacted.

You start entering the fort, when, alerted by the sentry, a large creature with pointy ears and grey skin vaguely resembling a gnome appears in the courtyard. He is accompanied by four wolves. He snarls at you and directs his wolves to attack.

All yours.

Round 1 - The Leaders of Frieland
"What species are they?"/b] Davor asks as he makes a beeline for the large creature with his sword in hand, calling down a judgement of destruction and moves forward 20ft.

Janku will move to the most ideal spot and cast bless. [b]"Milani guide our hands, and strengthen our resolve."

Kalsgrim strides to a better vantage point and looses and arrow at one of the wolves. The wolf yelps in despair but doesn’t go down.

"Not sure, whatever gnomes are, I guess..." Servayn replies to Davor, before moving forward with startling speed and casts a spell.

Secret Rolls:

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

A thick coat of grease springs from the floor beneath the giant spriggan, but he manages to stay up!

Ember leaps into the air and flies to engage one of the wolves. He goes through the wolf like butter. The wolf collapses in a shower of blood.

Kriger charges towards the 'giant gnome' and swings at the wolf in front of it. His axe easily severs the beast’s neck.

Round 1 -The Culcheck Spriggans
A lot of noise and shouts come from different directions of the fort. Spriggans seem to appear from many directions, most of them, as they see you, change their size, as if they were balloon at the carnival or some exotic Tien fish you’ve heard of. They carry morningstars of great size, which for a moment remind you of Hargulka’s horde of trolls...

From the fort proper, you hear more shouts and you hear a door open on the balcony of the second story, where three Spriggans emerge, then grow bigger.

The one with its feet in the grease tries to reposition himself.

Secret Rolls:

Acrobatics 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

He makes it out of the grease!

The Spriggan whi was hiding on the battlement takes another sneaky shot from hiding at Davor, revealing his position for an instant.

Servayn didn't have the knowledge-nature to determine anything very specific, but Other Mastermind generously allowed him to know *some* stuff about them. Davor has knowledge-nature, and would be able to find out more than Servayn did as a free action.

He then immediately pulls back on his axe swinging it horizontally one way and then back across again in another in hopes to spill the guts of the spriggan onto the floor.

His first swing cuts the wolf in two. His second and third cut the blind spriggan in four parts, covering him in blood.

Davor charges the wolf near ember and cuts it down swiftly. (Yes, it was a miss. Update your sheet before posting again please.)

Janku moves to improve its position on the battlefield (Sorry, but you don’t have line of sight or effect because of the buildings.)

Round 2 -The Culcheck Spriggans
Their numbers so swiftly cut down, the attacked spriggans do what they can to defend their lives from an overwhelming force. The two near Ember smash at it with their morningstars.
