Male Half-orc Inquisitor/6th, AC 21, 55/55 hp

sorry been out all day with my nephews all the way to bristol zoo.

I'll assume I don't have the minute per level as DM has not replied after I pointed out 1 minute = 10 rounds, will update sheet to reflect his current AC as that has now gone down with shield of faith. Also, Wrath is level per level too, 40 rounds.

Is J a troll? I assumed so that's why I moved there but if not I shall charge H.

charged attack: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 9 + 2 = 26

damage: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (1, 6) + 10 = 17

AC is 17 until my next turn.

J is Janku.

Round 2 - The Leaders of Frieland
Janku hustles nearer the fight.

"Blast ya, beast! Step back, Kals!" Kriger moves in swinging with all he's got, hoping he fares better in here than he did outside. As he moves forward, the troll takes advantage of its reach and tries to club the ranger.

Secret Rolls:

vs Kriger: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 182d6 + 13 ⇒ (1, 2) + 13 = 16

With a glancing blow, it hits the ranger and has it hurling in pain.
(-16 hp to Kriger)
Once in though, he smashes his axe deeply in the beast, sending a spray of dark blood everywhere.

Kalsgrim calls on Erastil and feels divine power flow through him in response. Some of it goes to heal himself, just enough to let his arm function, to strike with his sword two handed. the channels into his hatred of this troll that has brought so much strife to Erastil's fledgling nation. Filled with Erastil's righteous fury, Kalsgrim strikes out in a truly heroic fashion!

His blade connects through the sheer will of fate and slashes in the beast calf.

Servayn moves into the cavern and conjures an area of grease beneath the troll.
move to D4. Grease under H, Ref save DC 16 or fall down. Flat-footed until it gets out of there. Kriger's lantern remains in his hand.

Secret Rolls:

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

The troll maintains its balance.

The earth elemental continues to attack. It manages to connect and knock the beast in the ribs.

Davor moves in and hits the beast.
Davor, I know that a minute is ten rounds. Furthermore, a charge cannot be done because you don’t have a clear line to the troll. Also, please check Wrath. It’s listed duration is 1 minute flat.

Round 3 - Hargulka, Troll Chieftain
Hargulka, Having been raised by evil competent parent trolls, and trained in the arts of warfare by -that’s none of your business!-, keeps its focus on the paladin, moving on if he drops to the ground.

Secret Rolls:

1d20 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 182d6 + 13 ⇒ (1, 1) + 13 = 15
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 272d6 + 13 ⇒ (2, 1) + 13 = 16

1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 261d8 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

kk, yes it is a minute I just assume per level.

PA attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13 complete miss, even if I didn't PA.

As the troll's fangs plunge into Kalsgrim's body, he utters a prayer to Erastil. In that instant, Kal's wounds begin to cover over, even before the troll's teeth have fully pulled away.

Cast Hero's Defiance as an Immediate Action, heals 3d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 6) = 11, using one lay on hands for the day. That puts him at -5.

He'll spend two action points to ignore a condition (dying).

He'll use his swift action and move action to do two more lay on hands on himself (that is his sixth and final for the day). Heals 2d6 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4 and 2d6 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7.

Not backing away, Kalsgrim spits blood at the troll, and attacks the troll again, though more cautiously this time.

Two handed power attack, fighting defensively.

To hit 1d20 + 8 - 4 ⇒ (7) + 8 - 4 = 11
Damage 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16

Drenched in his own blood, a gruesome crimson shadow of his former self, Kalsgrim taunts the monster before him. You cannot win, beast! Erastil's blessings are upon me!

Davor misses.

Not backing away, Kalsgrim spits blood at the troll, and attacks the troll again, though more cautiously this time. His blade falls short of its mark. Drenched in his own blood, a gruesome crimson shadow of his former self, Kalsgrim taunts the monster before him. You cannot win, beast! Erastil's blessings are upon me!

Janku moves and brings forth the healing touch of Milani on Kalsgrim. "Go gettum chief" Unfortunately, as he casts, he opens himself to a blow from the troll chieftain.

Secret Rolls:

1d20 + 14 ⇒ (20) + 14 = 342d6 + 13 ⇒ (1, 6) + 13 = 20

The blow crushes the cleric despite his raised shield (-20 hp to Janku, roll a caster check to see if you can still cast that CMW. If not, let me know who’s the target of your second spell, which will work.)

Servayn moves to stand beside his elemental conjuring and takes a swing with his morningstar. The elemental continues to attack. Unfortunately, they can't find an opening in the troll's defenses.

I'll wait for Janku to make his check and decisions for healing before rolling for Hargulka.

AC 24 (25) HP 30/30 AP 8/8

I've got to get something off my chest. I think that not sitting at the table makes strategy planning more difficult. I think that as DM you need to sometimes give us a little break and not enforce every dang rule, because it's much more difficult to have to guess what and where everyone is going, and it's much more difficult to plan these strategies when we're not all face to face. By RAW all your actions are correct, but you play every encounter like the enemy has your intelligence not their native. Maybe I'm just being touchy, because nothing Janku does has any effect, but the beasts were fighting must have all attended military school. I feel that we're doing as well as we can and hate losing battles due to poor rolling...which is not your fault by the way. And I am not upset or mad with you. I think that were we all sitting around a table where things were more clear it would be a blast, but I feel we are at an extreme disadvantage here. And to be honest the game's not a whole lot of fun right now. We suck at running a kingdom, and now we suck at combat. I want to somehow be a hero, and don't feel much of a chance.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16 Caster Level Check

Just keep it like it is second heal on Kriger.

Not to mention the fact that we are woefully underequiped.

See the OOC please.

Round 4 - Hargulka, Troll Chieftain
Hargulka, howls in pain at the sting of the attacks. You can see it wavering from the loos of blood, despite its wounds healing at a fast pace. Its eyes narrows and a low roar comes from its mouth as it turns its attention first to Kriger...

Secret Rolls:

1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 282d6 + 13 ⇒ (1, 4) + 13 = 18

1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 241d8 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

Its first blow with its morningstars connect with a lound crunching sound, sending the ranger to the floor.
(-18 hp to Kriger)

It then follows with a second, targeted at nearby Davor. Again, the blow lands and smashes in the hero. (-22 hp to Davor)

Finally, it turns to Kaslgrim, with teeath and claw, he first misses, but then catches the paladin squarely across the face, slashing through flesh and bone. (-8 hp to Kalsgrim)

No one would fault Kalsgrim for falling, or even dying for the wounds he’s taken. But Erastil’s mercy has been drained from him, and all that remains is the rage of Kalsgrim and his god. A whirlwind of blood, metal and bones rises in the cave as the heroes clash and fall, fighting the troll chieftain Hargulka, scourge of the Greenbelt.

The epic battle had reached its breaking point when the combined efforts of Servayn and its conjured support, combined with the last throes of the noble lord of this realm, bring down the monster.

Slowly, dust and silence settle over the cave...

In the sudden silence, Kalsgrim turns to the others still standing. The dust settles on him, sticking to the blood coating him, making it impossible to see the extent of his wounds in the dim light.

Burn him. he says simply, and then collapses.

(AC 18, hp 15 of 77) Summoner 9

Servayn draws his dagger, and severs the head of the troll chieftan, before retrieving his dropped torch and flame to the neck, and then to the body, to stop the healing of it's wounds. (relighting it off of the lantern he carries, if necessary)

He turns to see if he can staunch the flow of blood on any of the fallen, or if the divine skills of Janku or Davor have already dealt with such matters.

AC 24 (25) HP 30/30 AP 8/8

Janku stares around the battlefield dismayed at what he sees. Servayn moves first, and permanently dispatches the vile chieftain.

Janku kneels beside his fallen comrades, and prays for divine inspiration...but no tell-tell smell of roses, or appearance of thorns knitting wounds appears. It seems that his divine well has run dry for the day. Crying in anguish at both his own fierce wounds and those of his comrades, he applies what he knows of the medicinal arts, and attempts to staunch their worst wounds until he is divinely inspired again.

Male Half-orc Inquisitor/6th, AC 21, 55/55 hp

Davor assists with burning the dead bodies and then puts his sword away before putting his hands together, bowing his head and saying something in his native language.

Orc:

Lord in Iron, I thank you for guiding my blade in this battle and keeping my armour strong and clean in this battle. Great Gorum, the first half-orc and greatest of my kind I give you thanks. May my blade continue to fight off rust and my armour never dim.

Grant me an honour to continue my war against beasts as great and perhaps, even more powerful as these.

Davor looks back to the group, looking at himself and seeing his serious wounds.
"I could use some bandaging..." he trails off, seeing that everyone else looks badly hurt.

Kriger is stabilized and regains consciousness.

Laying back down for a moment, "Ohhhhh man my face hurts." After a moment of lying there he gets up, albeit very slowly. Groaning from various other wounds, he makes his way over to Servayn, slowly but surely. A smile froms through his bloody face, "How do I look ma! Ha..." Kriger tries to laugh but doubles over from the pain, as he finds himself coughing up more blood. "Crap that hurt," he says, gasping. Kriger figuring he probably has punctured lungs from being smashed in the ribs, slowly rights himself and notices Kalsgrim. "He's not dead, is he?" He asks very carefully.

As much as he'd like, Kriger can't do much but sit and swear.

He's certain that the cave system is simple enough that you did not miss any mommy-troll.

Klasgrim and Kriger can barely be moved given their state. Still, as the mkbile ones take a look around, you figure that this band of trolls did quite well over the last year or so. The amount of treasure you find is mind twirling...

The cliff makes it very dangerous to move the injured. You decide to make "camp" here. You bring back your equipment for camp and leave your horses closer. This area will not see other predators for a while still.

After a long and difficult night, you rise with new hope and potential.

He looks over everyone.
"Now I have seen you fight, I am not surprised you have run the bandits off, for they must've been powerful indeed to have lasted long against you." he says as he takes his blade and then severs the head of the troll they chased into this cave to fight. "Our gods were with us, but who knows if they shall be in our next battle?"

As you get your bearings in the tunnel complex, you find a lot of wealth on each of the trolls.

But more importantly, you find a great amount of equipment and wealth, all amassed in a single, relatively clean room. There is so much it reaches the roof of the cave (it's a low cave, but still). A cursory examination shows that a few items are magical in nature.

As you clear up the room a bit, you find a shrine behind the loot. In the center stand a crude clay statuette of a female with a crown of leaves around her head.

Appraise and Knowledge (Religion) please.

In another room, this one quite filthy, you find, on a wall, a crude map of the Greenbelt, showing numerous locations marked with various symbols.

Also, the map signs show locations for attacks. These seemed to be well planned and scaled. Unusual for trolls...

Davor:
This is not a regular divinity, but perhaps a spirit of the forest. The way the loot is set up, it seems like it is dedicated to her, though such an mount of loot is unexpected for an offering to the gods. This looks more like tribute...

He thinks a moment on Servayn's question. "I've never heard of trolls taking money to do someone else's bidding. Wouldn't a troll just kill 'em and take the money? Unless this someone is just that much bigger and nastier to be able to negotiate with trolls." Kriger rubs his goatee, thinking. "I don't know. My guess is, seeing how we put a stop to these beasts, it's almost a guarantee we've gotten string-puller's attention. If that's the case. "This is strange. It appears like a alter to some kind of nature deity, but with all this treasure it is more like a tribute than an offering." Davor looks at the items and back to the group in curiosity. "These trolls are acting quite different than normal as you said. This is not the way the normally act and I have never heard of them woreship anything besides their bellies. Even in the rarest cases of cults, the troll it kept as some kind of pet and even then it's to a demon lord, not a spirit of nature." Davor will pick up the statuette and analyse it closely under detect magic, not understanding why these rolls were acting so strangely.

Janku:
The statuette looks familiar, and it takes you a few second to figure out why: it reminds you strongly of the effigies in the Stag Lord's cellar.

Davor:
The statuette is plain and does not radiate.

Kalsgrim will wait to do any healing until after Janku decides what he wants to do.

Having no practical exprience in logistics, Kal will ask Do we have the means to get all of this back to Providence?

If you walk beside your horses, with heavy packs, it should do it, but count at least twelve days to get back.

"This statue appears to be non-magical, but I wish to bring it with us. Do any of you have objections to me keeping hold of it?" he asks as he is still curious about the statue even though he has never seen it before he finds this whole thing far too odd. "Anyone very good at spellcraft? I know some, but someone more knowledgeable would be better to identify these items."
