Since 4/7 of you seem eager for me to run it for you I guess I'll get started with a nice discussion thread for us.

I'll go ahead and use this Alias for GMing this PBP since it's so much more ominous and GMey then my Scipion one.

While you guys are getting finished up I'll work on a starting story post to set the scene. You've already done a great job on the foundation for me.

For posts in the main thread feel free to use the format you like, but always seems that posting in third person ends up making the most sense when someone goes back and reads through it again.

Grand Lodge

posting for my dot :) I should have updated Garrick info in a bit.

(AC 18, hp 15 of 77) Summoner 9

Also posting for mah dot. Character should be done and ready.

Corso's ready to face the unknown! Thanks again Scipion!

Four e-mails so far. I've got Corso, Kalsgrim, Servayn, and Garrick. When I get all seven I'll take that as a sign to create the main story thread.

I love GMail. I'm flagging you guys all as Kingmaker participants so any e-mails from you head straight to a nice little Kingmaker folder.

OK I think I am good to go. I was curious how much for some wooden bowls, Plates and silverware. Also a pipe and some tobacco. Please Let me know if anything needs ammending on my Profile.

As for the Brothers Nowicki we are thick as thieves. we horse around with each other and crack Jokes. We also Treat Kalsgrim more Like one of us then our lord when we aren't around those who would consider it improper behavior. The Nowicki extended family serves in many capacities in the Lodovka Household. Each is given over to where they can best serve the household. Our mother Is one of the Household cooks. Our Father is the Stable Master one of our uncles a Majordomo of Lord Lodovka himself. We have a younger sister who works with the Households Falcons, and another uncle who captains one of the Lodovka vessels.

on a separate note I will be attending a funeral and a wake this weekend so I don't know if I will be available to post tomorrow. If nothing else I will be able to post on Sunday.

That should be fine, the beginning of this AP is mainly chatting with the locals and laying out some plans. So having a silent character won't bog things.

M Human Cavalier /1st

Take two! let me know if I need to send it again.

M Human Cavalier /1st

OK, guys if not its cool, but Cavaliers start out with a teamwork feat, and while I don't expect you guys to use them for your first feat, is there any you might consider picking up later?

fav 4:
Outflank (Combat, Teamwork)
You look for every edge when f lanking an enemy.
Prerequisites: Base attack bonus +4.
Benefit: Whenever you and an ally who also has this
feat are f lanking the same creature, your f lanking bonus
on attack rolls increases to +4. In addition, whenever
you score a critical hit against the f lanked creature, it
provokes an attack of opportunity from your ally.

Paired Opportunists (Combat, Teamwork)
You know how to make an enemy pay for lax defenses.
Benefit: Whenever you are adjacent to an ally who
also has this feat, you receive a +4 circumstance
bonus on attacks of opportunity against creatures
that you both threaten. Enemies that provoke attacks
of opportunity from your ally also provoke attacks of
opportunity from you so long as you threaten them
(even if the situation or an ability would normally deny
you the attack of opportunity). This does not allow you
to take more than one attack of opportunity against a
creature for a given action.

Precise Strike (Combat, Teamwork)
You are skilled at striking where it counts, as long as an
ally distracts your foe.
Prerequisites: Dex 13, base attack bonus +1.
Benefit: Whenever you and an ally who also has this
feat are f lanking the same the creature, you deal an
additional 1d6 points of precision damage with each
successful melee attack. This bonus damage stacks with
other sources of precision damage, such as sneak attack.
This bonus damage is not multiplied on a critical hit.

Shield Wall (Combat, Teamwork)
You are skilled at working together with those around
you for protection.
Prerequisites: Shield Proficiency.
Benefit: Whenever you are wielding a shield and are
adjacent to an ally who also has this feat, the AC bonus
from your shield increases, depending on the shield
wielded by your ally. If your ally is wielding a buckler or a
light shield, your shield bonus increases by +1. If your ally
is wielding a heavy shield or a tower shield, your shield
bonus increases by +2. You keep these bonuses even if
your ally loses his shield bonus due to making a shield
bash attack. If an adjacent ally with this feat uses a tower
shield to grant total cover, you also benefit if an attack
targeting you passes through the edge of the shield (see
page 153 of the Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook).

the rest:
Shielded Caster (Teamwork)
Your allies are skilled at covering for you while you cast
complicated spells.
Benefit: Whenever you are adjacent to an ally who also has
this feat, you receive a +4 bonus on concentration checks. If
your ally is wielding a buckler or a light shield, this bonus
increases by +1. If you ally is wielding a heavy shield or a
tower shield, this bonus increases by +2. Finally, if an enemy
that is threatening you and your ally has the Disruptive feat,
or another ability that increases the DC of concentration
checks, the amount of the increase is halved.

Swap Places (Combat, Tactical)
You are skilled at changing places with your ally during
a chaotic melee.
Benefit: Whenever you are adjacent to an ally who
also has this feat, you can move into your ally’s square as
part of a normal movement (including a 5-foot step). At
the same time, your ally moves into your previous space.
Both you and your ally must be willing and able to move
to take advantage of this feat. Your ally must be the same
size as you to utilize this feat. Your ally does not provoke
an attack of opportunity from this movement, but you
provoke as normal. This movement does not count
against your ally’s movement on his next turn.

Allied Spellcaster (Teamwork)
With the aid of an ally, you are skilled at piercing the
protections of other creatures with
your spells.
Prerequisites: Caster level 1st.
Benefit: Whenever you are
adjacent to an ally who also
has this feat, you receive a +2
bonus on level checks made
to overcome spell resistance.
If your ally has the same spell
prepared (or known with a slot
available if they are spontaneous
spellcasters), this bonus increases
to +4 and you receive a +1 bonus
to the caster level for all leveldependent
variables, such as
duration, range, and effect.

Coordinated Defense
(Combat, Teamwork)
You are adept at working with allies to avoid being
tripped, grappled, and subjected to other maneuvers.
Benefit: Whenever you are adjacent to an ally who also
has this feat, you receive a +2 competence bonus to your
Combat Maneuver Defense. This bonus increases to +4 if
the creature attempting the maneuver is larger than both
you and your ally.

Coordinated Maneuvers (Combat,
Teamwork)
You are skilled at working with your allies to perform
dangerous combat maneuvers.
Benefit: Whenever you are adjacent to an ally who also
has this feat, you receive a +2 competence bonus on all
combat maneuver checks. This bonus increases to +4
when attempting to break free from a grapple.
Duck and Cover (Teamwork)
Your allies assist you in avoiding certain attacks.
Benefit: Whenever you are adjacent to an ally who also
has this feat, and both of you are required to make a Reflex
saving throw against a spell or effect, you may take the
result of your die roll or that of your ally (your modifiers
still apply to the roll, regardless of which result you take).
If you take your ally’s result, you are knocked prone (or
staggered on your next turn, if you are already prone or
cannot be knocked prone). In addition, you receive a +2
cover bonus to your AC against ranged attacks as long as
your ally is wielding a shield.

Lookout (Combat, Teamwork)
Your allies help you avoid being surprised.
Benefit: Whenever you are
adjacent to an ally who also has
this feat, you may act in the
surprise round as long as your
ally would normally be able to
act in the surprise round. If you
would normally be denied the
ability to act in the surprise
round, your initiative is equal
to your initiative roll or the
roll of your ally – 1, whichever
is lower. If both you and your
ally would be able to act in the
surprise round without the aid
of this feat, you may take both
a standard and a move action (or
a full-round action) during the
surprise round.

let me know if anyone is interested.

** spoiler omitted **...

For my part, I would say the two flanking feats are interesting. The BAB requirements put them in the future, though.

I'm also out until Sunday.

Posting for my dot. I'll review Kalsgrim character stats this weekend to make sure everything is set.

It looks like the only person I have not gotten an e-mail from or seen post so far is the Eldritch Knight player.

Sev's sheet is good.

Garick looks fine.

No weapons or armor for Janku or just haven't done the equipment yet?

Ox if you can clean up your sheet a bit like Corso's that would be useful, it's a little tricky to find stuff for now. Perhaps just spoiler the long class ability descriptions? As far as Teamwork Feats go I might suggest Lookout for Corso and Ox since he's got some serious initiative.

Corso is fine as well.

Kalsgrim seemed ok when I checked it before.

M Human Cavalier /1st

Okie dok, I am going to take all the base info and just throw it in a spoiler and have the actual info that effects my character up here soon. I was looking at it and realised it was still lacking quite a bit.

Hey, good luck with this game, all! I was on the verge of throwing in to DM this for your group, was getting everything together to make sure I could do it the way I wanted, then saw that Scipion stepped in. I put out an all-call for another group, so my preparation won't go to waste. I know a few of you from our Arcadia game already, so you guys should have fun.

This one makes an interesting option for a Druid or Summoner with a Companion / Eidolon, and I'll have to ponder it.

I suspect that it won't stack with itself, so that there wouldn't be some terrible dark symmetry if we all take it. :)

Servayn's origin story has been updated to include some training (in both combat and diplomacy) in a temple to Gorum, which could be where our two characters met, working under the same mentor. I had envisioned the training as involving a lot of Servayn getting beaten up by the real acolytes (since he was a lay worshipper, not a cleric-in-training), so there could be a little good-natured snark between the characters, as Servayn may have gotten a few bruises from Janku during their practice sessions...

M Human Cavalier /1st

ALright got all my crunch info in there I had a question about the mount though.

mount:
A cavalier starts with a Mount and it starts with light barding, do I need to buy the saddle and bridle and other stuff? If so I need to go back and adjust my equipment. Since the mount and barding were free of charge, I went ahead and took the best, let me know if I need to adjust.

the following info is from the awesome SRD site

Some horses are larger and heartier, bred for labor such as pulling plows or carriages. These horses are called “heavy horses” and gain the following adjustments to the base horse statistics.
A heavy horse gains the advanced simple template (already applied here). In addition, it also gains a bite attack that inflicts 1d4 damage, and its hoof damage increases to 1d6. As with a light horse, a heavy horse can be specifically trained for combat with the Handle Animal skill.
Horses stand 5 to 6 feet tall at the shoulder and weigh between 1,000 and 1,500 pounds.

Ox wrote:

Actually your mount has the same stats as a druid's animal companion. They are virtually the same except the druid animal companion would have +4 natural armor, with lower str, dex, con, wis, and cha.

Mount (Ex):

A cavalier gains the service of a loyal and trusty steed to carry him into battle. This mount functions as a druid’s animal companion, using the cavalier’s level as his effective druid level. The creature must be one that he is capable of riding and is suitable as a mount, such as a boar, camel, dog, horse, pony, or wolf (depending on his size and level, as such, boars and dogs are not suitable until 4th level). A cavalier’s mount does not gain the share spells special ability.

A cavalier’s bond with his mount is strong, with the pair learning to anticipate each other’s moods and moves. Should a cavalier’s mount die, the cavalier may find another mount to serve him after 1 week of mourning. This new mount does not gain the link, evasion, devotion, or improved evasion special abilities until the next time the cavalier gains a level.
Starting Statistics: Size Large; Speed 50 ft.; AC +4 natural armor; Attack bite (1d4), 2 hooves* (1d6); Ability Scores Str 16, Dex 13, Con 15, Int 2, Wis 12, Cha 6; Special Qualities low-light vision, scent. *This is a secondary natural attack, see Combat for more information on how secondary attacks work.

4th-Level Advancement: Ability Scores Str +2, Con +2; Special Qualities combat trained.

I'm afraid I don't see anything about barding though...so I think that may have to wait or come out of your starting funds.

M Human Cavalier /1st

Ok, Great! I was trying to find the horse stats, and just went a bit over board...I continued in fashion apparently deciding that the bonus mount feat of light armor proficency somehow meant that It came with armor. lol. *points toward Ox's INT score and runs away*

I will nerf that crazy horse that snuck into my profile.

ok, traded in my long bow for a short bow and nixxed my shield and I managed to get leather barding, a riding saddle and bit briddle.

Hey Scipion, have a while before I can get it, but how do you feel about my guy getting the Leadership feat. I am thinking that my cohort won't play a major role outside of the castle, once we get a kingdom going, mostly as a guy who handles things while I am away and the followers will form part of the military since I roughly plan my guy, with his arcane talent and soon to be martial know how, to become in charge of the military.

If it's a stay at home and watch the keep kind of Cohort shouldn't be an issue. Right now we are looking at close to 10 melee combatants just on the good guys side if you count in the cavaliers horse, the eidolon, and I don't remember if the paladin has a horse or not. Not to mention Summoned Monsters.

By the way Servayn let's have your Eidolon act on your initiative rather then it's own. Same for any summons, mounts, animal companions, etc.

Cool, I prefer that anyway as a GM, and even more as a player (since my conjuror can then take Improved Inititiave and have it count for both him and his gumbies). :)

I think I'll have the first main post up before too long tonight. Just got home after cleaning and doing laundry from our old house. Man I hate moving.

If you post right after I do, be sure to double check I haven't made any edits. The first 5 minutes they're up can be a tad volatile. ^_^

M Human Cavalier /1st

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I'm making PC Tokens for the battle maps so if in your first post you could include the color you'd like I'd appreciate it. This way you don't end up with hot pink and shed a tear...

Dark Archive

The map and picture are awesome! Did the side view come with the adventure, or did you whip that up with a program?

[meta-game-think] Hmm. And there wouldn't be that much map-detail if we weren't gonna end up fighting in there, perhaps even defending it from attack... Looks like we might wanna get those catapults working! [/meta-game-think]

M Human Cavalier /1st

I guess I missed it, but what is all the dotting about?

If you post in a thread in your main screen name, a bold dot will appear next to the thread name while you are logged in. It makes it easy to scan down a long list of threads and pick out the ones that you are participating in.

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

Set wrote:

The awesome looking 3d view is courtesy of Chinchbug

Also I've had the dot appear in threads where just my alias posted.

ps. The English major in me begs you to please watch the use of capitals. It makes me twitch O . o Thank you kindly. Unless I'm just being dense and that's a sorta incharacter thingy...

M Human Cavalier /1st

ok, that makes a lot more sense about the dots. I tend to just list every thread I am watching and then it even gives me a nifty little link to the new posts(3 new)button.

And unfortunately Scipion,No. its not an incharacter thing. I tend to be a bit gramatically challenged. Any pointers you have for me though, I will gladly take on. The capitals tend to be my pinky finger spastically wanting to join in the typing fun and throwing caps in randomly. I will double check my posts.

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

Not a big deal, wasn't 100% sure. Caps are usually just for the start of a sentence and names. It makes me think of olde english when I see writing with random nouns capitalized.

I myself have a bad habit of run on sentences. Along with changing the second half of a sentence but forgetting to check how it reads with the first half.

This will peak your interest. I've parred down the map of the Greenbelt so that you can see the Hexes you've been through and have a hint at the Hexes nearby. Each hex is 12 miles from one flat side to the opposite. I'll go into more detail about exploring when we get closer to that time.

Consider this the map you are creating for the Swordlords.
Current Map of the Greenbelt

M Human Cavalier /1st

Neat! and from there we are going east, west and south. I like it.

Dark Archive

Some dude

For future reference, anytime you want a dot in a PBP thread (without posting as your 'self'), you can just post there as your 'self' some random garbage (asdadasasds) and then delete the post a second later. The dot will remain, even after you've deleted the post that triggered it.

I also tend to List my PBPs, but then I can never get the darn list to display, so it's just a big waste of time for me. :)

I'm watching the thread eagerly, but I figured I'd let another person or two chime in before Oleg responds. If you want Corso to kinda be your spokesperson, please post something like Sev did, a small action. So I know you're waiting on me ;)

Also, everybody has picked a color so here's what I came up with. I'll use these on the battle map. Now sense these maps don't have XY coordinates or anything like that, and that's too much work, we'll need to be a little vague. For fights just explain where you want to go such as "the corner of the building" "flanking with Corso" "Within ten feet of the rabid grizzly bear" and you'll be positioned accordingly within your move speed.
Tokens
I tried to pick colors you guys offered that weren't used by another PC. If you want one changed just let me know.

Dark Archive

Some dude

We were kinda inundating Oleg with chatter, so I moved Servayn off screen for a moment. One of the problems with PBP is that everyone gets to talk at once and it begins to look like the NPC is under some sort of gang-interrogation. :)

Yeah, Corso setup a nice queue of questions for me to respond to later.

M Human Cavalier /1st

thats what Npc's are for! *sits Oleg and his wife down in a dark room and points a lamp at them.* "Tell us all the important plot info!"

I agree with Set, it can be somewhat problematic. I try to place a few questions while mentioning that I space them through the encounter. It lets other player position their questions too, and the GM can either tell how the evening went or respond to each post separately. Either is fine with me. I kind of like that nonlinearity to it.

I certainly don't want to be the "face" of the party. I just play my character and we each have specific questions like wether the catapults are operational, etc.

I very much like the group dynamic in this game and Dorgar's. When the GM deems it is time to move on, I believe we can move on and if someone gets online after the fact, he can either ask for a little flashback or move along. With seven players, I think it's the best way to keep the game running. I can't help but notice how few games actually last a bit.

Let's not forget about the catapults ;-P

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4

I've got no issues with how you guys are posting, continue the show O_^
