Female Junpei Sagara, AKA Iris 「」 Hope: 2 ~ Magic: 0 ~ Trauma: 0 ~ Fate: 1

Iris watches Juno's performance unfold. It...it worked. Thank god, it worked. That should stop anyone here being further affected. Looks like the guard isn't happy though...they're probably in on it. Just have to deal with that. She's about to send a thanks to Juno, when she sees her talking with someone. An Utena? Interesting choice. And Juno seemed to be behaving very differently with her. Were they...? No...she didn't have time for that. It wasn't her place to intrude anyway. She just makes a note to keep an eye out for her. She didn't seem magic, and she seems to know Juno.

There were a few other people that were with...is that Sora? Any other time she'd be pleased. Chūsuke would have loved this. But right now...oh god, this was BAD. BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD. Then again, maybe she was magic? Kazue was. Emi seems to be surrounded by it too, judging from this place. There was a precedent here, so maybe...? She had to know. This was important.

Iris switches to Sora, and attempts to come up with a message that another magical girl might recognise. As long as she didn't message more than once, if she was normal, she'd probably just take it as her imagination. But what...? Wait...she was normal right now. Normal clothes, lack of crazy-perfectness...if she was a magical girl, there were a few words she'd HAVE to know to look like that.

Iris glances at the cards, just to see if everything's the same. As that happens, a very tired voice comes to Sora. 「Your watch isn't done. Understand?」

Female Caucasian May Carmine Hope: 0 ~ Magic: 1 ~ Trauma: 1 ~ Fate: 0

May stands slightly behind Sora not really sure what to expect but tried to be ready to react, for now she acts a 'silent protector' ready to move while Sora takes the lead.

Hashimoto Sora 「」 Trauma 1 ~ Magic 1 ~ Hope 1 ~ Fate 2

"I think I may just be an emotional vampire now..." Sora says quietly to May as soon as she's separated enough from any of the large crowds. She quickly spots Kiyomi, who seems to be wearing... next to nothing. She quickly turns her attention away from the woman as a result, hand messing with her hair, which is clearly not in any shape to be seen in public. How she'd managed to fall asleep on the bus was a little beyond her.

Sora tilts her head suddenly, looking off to her right, eyes scanning the empty space she'd expected to hear a voice from. 「Are you invisible? Spooky? Book? We've got to get as many of these people out of here as we can.」 even so, her hand was moving to her trinket so that she might be able to dodge into a nearby dreamer if it wasn't an ally.

Female Junpei Sagara, AKA Iris 「」 Hope: 2 ~ Magic: 0 ~ Trauma: 0 ~ Fate: 1

As the confused and wary concern comes back, Iris crosses off one concern and notes the potential for another. Time to clear this up - she looks like she's reaching for something. 「Not invisible, just way over here.」 She starts waving, making use of the pool skimmer to make herself more obvious before dropping it down again. 「I'm the new girl. Guy. Depends if you really care about those things. Call me Iris for now. I presume Spooky means Chrysanth - she's with me. Book, I haven't seen. Think I know who you mean, but I don't have a clue where they went. There's Juno in the crazy outfit, and...Sakura? Twins. Don't know the deal there. Naiad...Blue? Was here, but had to fall back. Any other magical girls with you?」

Alright, introductions are out of the way. Time to fill her in. 「Anyway, gonna be hard getting too many people out. The rave's been built up, and with Emi hosting this - did you know she was here? - and whatever magic-abusing monster is backing this event at work here, in addition to some new arrival that's probably in conflict with them that I don't know anything about other than that they have an anti-magic field, we have a rough time. Juno might be able to order everyone out from what I've seen, but I doubt she'd want to, and that'd be massively obvious even to normal people anyway. I'm sure she already earned the attention of the backer and their coworkers when she got everyone to stay off the drinks. So you know, the things've been hexed by the backer, and they will destroy you if you have one. That's what happened to Naiad, and she had regeneration to cover for her.」

「Things are bad here. If you've got new info, we're going to need it. It's going to be more important to shut down whoever's running things, otherwise they'll just try again another time. You'll blend in better transformed, magical girl theme and all that. Same goes for anyone with you. We have to work together.」 Iris's voice wobbles a bit at that last sentence. They'd lost Alex. Juno had other concerns, it seems, and he couldn't aggravate her further. She was out too. Miyako seemed fully occupied with hate for Juno, and that made her ANOTHER potential problem. No Aratani. No White. No P...Paresh. Kazue was...oh god, she was going to have to tell Sora about that too!

9 people that could have helped seemed to drop to 2 that may actually do it as she thought. They were down on numbers. There were so many things to deal with, including some people that should be allies, and more just piled up as she thought. She had virtually no experience. And there were so many people at serious risk here.

Iris tries very hard not to shake, holding the pool skimmer in a two-handed deathgrip. She isn't successful. The shaking only amplifies as her fears weigh on her more and more. Somehow, she holds onto a smile. A composed, cheerful face, that says that nothing's wrong. It's the only thing keeping her from falling apart right now. She could NOT have anyone worrying about her at a time like this. They had to keep going.

「D-Demon Empress?」 It was a nickname Yuki had used before, but it held... specific meaning given recent events.

Kiyomi tries to compose herself by reverting to full ojou, starting with the ever-iconic laugh. 「Ohhohoho! I can assure you that I have made quite a name for myself already; this garb is a crowd pleaser, to be sure. But of course a mob can entertain me for only so long; the main event awaits.」 Kiyomi takes Yuki by the hand, leading her right past the line and the security; in on the scheme or no the guard could not possibly attempt to deny her entry, there would be a riot.

Hashimoto Sora 「」 Trauma 1 ~ Magic 1 ~ Hope 1 ~ Fate 2

「Blue is 'Bubbles'.」 she responds, but doesn't share that Chell was a magical girl - wasn't her secret to share. 「I read a book today at the Aratani place... that's given me an idea. It's not as simple as your 'backer' thing. We fought a Yokai here last night, but the problem is that there are two Yokai. Kinda like in that anime where magical girls become monsters? Same thing. Don't sign off all your humanity making trinkets, super bad juju. Either way, we get to deal with Alexander the Great plus whoever's doing all of this. Sounds like Aratani, though... I'm not sure how anyone else would get Emi to show up. Plus she wants the mall for herself...」 Sora responded, voice occasionally dripping venom - specifically in relation to her old boss.

「I have some bad news, though... my stuff is kind of a solo act. When everything goes to hell, the yokai is going to pull us into a nightmare. The good news is that that's sort of my 'domain'. I may be able to manipulate it, and hopefully will be able to keep as many of the people as I can outside the nightmare.」 she suggests.

She pauses for a moment, as she starts to say something that feels alien, now that she isn't under the full influence of her trinket. 「Bubbles stole some very important things from my home - the trinkets of the first Yokai. I didn't know what they were at the time, but... apparently they're mog'wai. Or familiars... or something. Aratani said that bringing magic together was always a bad idea. She's wrong, of course, but the amount of magic in those things is... significant. And maybe there'll be a chain reaction. If the eggs are here, they need to be not here. Could you... just give me your cell number? I'm starting to feel really weird talking to thin air.」

She looks over her shoulder to May 「Anything to add?」

Female Junpei Sagara, AKA Iris 「」 Hope: 2 ~ Magic: 0 ~ Trauma: 0 ~ Fate: 1

For the record, while you were replying, May wouldn't be able to hear a thing. Your voice seems like it's being whisked away by the wind in such instances. You'd be able to tell the difference.

Phone number? Yeah, that might be an idea. 「I know about the trinkets. Only got so much soul to go around. At least my pact lets me regenerate wounds. Anyway, you asked for my number, didn't you? It's...」 Iris rattles off her phone number. She sounds like she's trying to control her voice. It's a little tense and unstable. She's not really concerned at the moment with just who she was giving it to at the moment anyway. She just had new things presented to her.

Like...the Yokai. Sounds like the Star Children that were mentioned before. The talk of their trinkets helped push that. There had to be a way to deal with that. Perhaps...「Maybe the backer wants to wake up this other Yokai?」 They'd already delivered murder drinks. Not too far-fetched. 「At the very least, Bubbles isn't here right now. I said before. If they've got these eggs, they're away from here right now.」 Iris takes the chance to send a text to Alex relaying the info on the eggs, stressing the point that if they come back to the mall, they're going to wake up another Yokai there.

Then, there's Aratani. Sora mentioned she'd be able to pull Emi here. That she wanted the mall. That she knew of magic. And Sora sounded like they didn't like her. This was the same Aratani they'd met earlier. And with plans like that, ties to Emi and Sora, knowing Kazue, that meant...Shirakawa.

It explained a lot. How they behaved. The limo. It also made apparent just how stupid what she did was. Had she held a grudge there, she'd be able to ruin his life. She had to count herself lucky. Then again, Juno had turned up in that same limo moments ago. Her attitude certainly fit someone with that kind of position. Calling for new drinks...the family talk earlier after all that...stuff...

Oh f$$$. That was Aratani's daughter, wasn't it? She STILL had a Shirakawa's ire. Thankfully, Aratani could probably keep things under wraps there, but she still had the means to give her a bad time.

Ever so slightly, the shaking increases.

[Sheets] [Map]

Kiyomi:You charge toward the front entry. The bouncer looks surprised and confused. He focuses his energy on not letting anyone get in behind you as the crowd rushes in to exploit the hole in security.

Kiyomi:
The interior of the mall has been cleaned up. It must have taken a crew to clear out the trash. The place still looks overgrown, but the chain link barriers have been moved. The west wing is now locked off, and the east wing is open.

Black-light paint has been used to decorate the carousel and mark out fat paw-prints on the floor. The trail leads to a storefront that's been decorated like a large florescent skull with a pink bow. A ramp has been built that leads down to the basement.

The elevator has been covered with black felt.

Everyone else outside: When the bouncer gets the crowd settled, he gets back on his walkie-talkie. He seems really distraught, but the person on the other end shuts him down. He doesn't seem satisfied with the answer he got.

Stat Block:
Hope: 4~Magic: 0~Trauma: 2~Fate: 3

Alex feels a bit of relief as half his chest doesn't pull off from the close contact of the dogtags.

Thank goodness. Thought for a second there I'd have those imbedded forever. Talk about terrifying!

The concept of 'suppressing' the transformation is a new one, though. He'll attempt to try that for the moment, because the flare of energy that just shot up from him is bound to be drawing attention, and he really needs to be stealthy and sneaky at the moment.

Oh, c'mon! LIVE a little for cryin' out loud! You're being such a fuddy-duddy. See? Nothing bad happened. Maybe you should make another trinket or two... you never know when you might need them. And, oh, hey, whatcha going to make 'em into? Do something boring like usual? You strike me as the anchor and megaphone type, because you're a boring loudmouth that likes to remain chained to one spot. GO FOR THOSE! They're safe!

Alex, though, has a much more solid idea. Hopefully it's not being influenced by some form of internal reverse psychology by whatever or whomever is prattling in his head.

He attempts to solidify the dogtag combat form as a stylized cuirass, layer upon layer of unknown metal buffered between by thin layers of water to absorb shock akin to how compartmentalization works aboard a ship, so that even if parts of it are damaged, it still functions effectively.

Hey, you're supposed to be doing BORING stuff, not NEAT stuff. What gives?!

With the ID fresh in the mind Alex remembers how bad-arsed the few Marines he's encountered are, including the non-commissioned officers and the like with their ceremonial blades. There's a goodly time as he's lost in thought trying to imagine what such a blade is like, thinner yet heavy enough to carry the weight of a blow, black handle, golden finger-guard-thingie...

Hey! I'm supposed to be the combat monster in charge, what are you THINKING?

The mind's theatre takes a few more moments as Alex takes a few practice swings with the sword, fixing the idea of a nimble yet fierce durable dancing blade, capable more for slashing than for piercing, but able to do that in a pinch.

You keep this up, I'm going to have to change my estimation of you! Stop being so fluid, dangit! The 'inner voice' is grudgingly respectful for a change.

It takes the arrival of Zeek to shake Alex from his pre-occupation with his sword and the shaking is enough to cause him to lose focus and Naiad comes burbling out. FFS! I... guess we'll have to work on that.

「Hey, Zeek. What's so special about the stone things you had me pick up? What should I be doing with them? Hiding them away? Spreading them out among the other folks? Can you give me some sort of idea, here? I don't want to lose them while I'm doing this hero-stuff? Hop up on my shoulder, we're going back to the mall and I think you'd have a hard time keeping up!」

Naiad will attempt to put Zeek on their shoulder and run towards the Mall once more, but looping around to the East side where they got in the previous night.

It somehow feels 'safer' that way, for some reason.

Given that it's taken some time for this all to work out, Naiad can work back in around five or ten or even quarter past the hour, I'm thinking?

Dedric could feel his blood rush to his head as the man spoke, he suddenly felt warm and blushed as his blood boiled through his veins.

Pervert? How dares he to call ME and HER perverts? Can’t he understand we are humans like him? Like him? No, he’s not human. Humanity is different, it has to be. I can just raise my fingers and be done with him. Nothing is out of my grasp. I can’t, not here, not to her. Dedric, calm down. You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar.

Mr. Miku, I can assure I am no such thing. I am a representative of the board of school directors of our city of Obusa. We are very concerned about your daughter Sakura and her behaviour in her school.

Dedric moved close to Rikuto and kneeled to have his eyes at the same level as the man.

Mr. Miku, we understand that you are going through such a hard time. We also understand you love your family, you wouldn’t be here if you didn’t. The board has voted to contact child protective services and I voted against that decision. They allowed me to speak to you, to try to change something in Sakura’s condition.

Dedric stood up and offered his hand to Rikuto. Mr. Miku there is much we have to discuss and very urgently. I’m afraid, however, that you are not in any condition to discuss these things. So I must ask something of you first. Go to a bathroom, drink some water and wash your face. When you have done that I will be waiting here to talk.

Dedric’s skin crawled even as he tried his best to smile at the man. If the man trusted him enough and left for a bathroom he could take the chance to sneak in and speak to his wife. So Dedric kept smiling and kept offering his hand even as all his being tried to get away from that poisonous man.

「Hmm. Impressive work, I must say. They certainly cleaned the place up quickly since I was here.」 Kiyomi had almost forgotten the reason why she had gone to the mall in the first place; Yuki teasing her into a silly test of courage had ended up being more involved than expected.

It is at this point that Kiyomi realizes that she is holding Yuki's hand, and breaks away with a blush. Kiyomi looks at her friend again; the uniform certainly suits her. She looks strong and noble, like she could take you in her arms and protect you, make everything okay. The less poetic parts of Kiyomi's mind certainly appreciate the shorts, as well.

Kiyomi looks away, a little redder than before. 「W-well, it seems we have some time. Perhaps we should do some exploring before the show starts?」 She walks swiftly towards the east wing, silently lecturing herself for so obviously ogling Yuki.

Hashimoto Sora 「」 Trauma 1 ~ Magic 1 ~ Hope 1 ~ Fate 2

"Right, so. There's another magical girl here - a new one - plus some of the others. Bubbles isn't here, thankfully, though Spooky, the Twins and Shirakawa are. They don't know book. Don't drink anything, they're poisoned or something. Maybe the bad guys are trying to wake Alexander up with death. Spooky and... Invisible Girl - I need more to go on before they get a nickname, maybe Windy - are here and trying to prevent this stuff. Emi's here, which means boss-lady probably organized all this. I'm not sure whether I should try to help Alexander, or try to protect everyone. How do you think we should go about all of this?" Sora asks, looking to May.

Kiyomi:

Yuki smiles, her eyes on the decorations. When you let go of her hand, she clasps hers together, taking her palm between her thumb and forefinger and biting her lip. She turns on her heels in the middle of the mall, looking it up and down. 「Glad I didn’t go with you that night, then. I like it this way.

When you head into the east wing, Yuki follows, tapping across the tiled floor in her flats. She stops at one of the storefronts and picks something up off the floor, bending at the waist and kicking one leg behind her for balance. 「Obviously, quickly was not also thoroughly.」 Whatever she’s picked up goes into one of her pockets as she adjusts her jacket. She turns back to look at you and pulls some stray hair from her face. 「Do you want to go down there, or were we going to check out some of the darker places?」 She's indicating the large skull the neon path is leading to.

You can hear someone performing a sound test down below. Another neon path leads from the eastern entrance in the old book store to the ramp built into the decorated store front.

Iris, Chrysanth, and Sakura:

A young woman exits the mall from the arcade doors and heads toward the bus. She’s got a microphone hanging around her neck that’s made to look like a pacifier, and her shaved head is painted in blacklight paint to look like a Dia de los Muertos sugar skull. Her clothes are a collection of mismatched neon accessories.

The rest of the staff has cleared out, and once the young woman has gone into the tour bus, the west side parking lot is empty.

After a few minutes, a Shirakawa delivery truck parks in front of the mall and starts unloading cases of drink. The waiting partiers cheer and crowd around to get their fill.

Iris:
That was Emi getting into the bus. She used to be in BB-Pop with Sora, but now she's purportedly gone renegade under the stage name Dead-BB. She has tons of talent and potential, but you get the feeling she's just lashing out right now and experimenting with musical outlets.

The Warrioress card is no longer on your disk. With it has gone your amplification card.

Sora, and May:

The girl in the Sailor Saturn outfit storms toward the large bouncer in the front, clearly chasing after Kiyomi. She’s stopped with everyone else, but she continues to browbeat the muscle, trying to get through.

The guy in the tux took one look at the two guarded entryways and has decided to circle around to the back. He looks up at a wire hanging down from the roof, and a broken window on the second floor.

After a minute or so, Alex will arrive in military fatigues, a silvery cuirass, and a rapier at his side? His arrival is masked by the arrival of a Shirakawa delivery truck, which offloads case after case of drinks which disappear into an impatient, but raucous crowd.

Dedric:

Miku Rikuto takes a deep breath, his curved spine straightening and his eyes showing a moment of clarity. He lets the breath out slowly and nods. He rubs his hands on his wrinkled shirt and pats the pockets of his pants. 「Yes... yes, I think I’ll do that.」 He mops his face with his hand as he turns toward the bathroom.

Moving quickly and quietly, you head to the door and slip inside.

Even opening the door, your senses are assaulted by the scent of flowers. The room is dark except for the blue-green glow of the heart monitor, which casts light across Mrs. Miku’s face. Your first thought is that you’ve found your sister. You see her, in your mind’s eye, a placid face behind fogged glass, beads of air hanging in her hair like pearls. The haunting image intuition has cast is chased away by your concrete senses. She’s a remarkable image of her, though.

Mrs. Miku turns slowly in her restless sleep, legs twinning under her covers, her lips moving in silent cries. Her heart monitor shows a weak, irregular beat. A glance at her chart indicates an arrhythmia caused by overactive nerve endings. You’re not sure how you got that from literally glancing at the chart from across the room.

Naiad:

Were you setting those forms in your mind, or deploying them now?

Eggs Zeek replies. Legacy. Potential. Sniffing at the ground and pacing, Zeek doesn’t seem to be giving much of a charades performance. For you. For Them. He stares back at the mall. He’s nervous here, with you, alone on a darkened street with the distant sound of sirens passing. The pack. He struggles with the word like he knows it’s not right. Safer to stand together than run alone. Where his other statements came very simply and concretely, this one comes with the image of four girls and a boy standing and holding hands in front of a tall, bearded man.

When you approach the mall from the east side, you see May, who you met on the roof, and her friend as well as a young man in a tuxedo and mask who is considering the broken window on the second floor. The hole you entered the night before has been closed with the sheetmetal that almost ruined your sweater. Eyeing the woman at the east entrance, you suspect it won’t be as easily overlooked if you move it again.

A delivery truck also arrives, which gives you an opportunity to do what you need to do as the crowd and the bouncers are distracted by a shipment of Shirakawa-branded drinks. You have to wonder, though, at what point the sodas were tainted.

Female Junpei Sagara, AKA Iris 「」 Hope: 2 ~ Magic: 0 ~ Trauma: 0 ~ Fate: 1

You know, I never thought to ask earlier when I probably should have, considering its relevance to what Sora said she suspected. Is Emi still working for Shirakawa, to my awareness? And is it only technically if so?

[Sheets] [Map]

Your favorite trashy gossip venue suggests Emi and her producer, Aratani, had a huge falling out recently. Artistic differences? There's some speculation about contracts and court cases. If you know much about the pit of litigation and human trafficking that is Asian pop music troupes, you'd recognize that she's certainly on the path to independence. The answer to "is she working for Shirakawa right now?" can only be given by lawyers, and probably not in terms any of you but Tiresias could decipher.

The PR for this "rave" suggests Emi is doing this on her own with "borrowed" assets.

Female Junpei Sagara, AKA Iris 「」 Hope: 2 ~ Magic: 0 ~ Trauma: 0 ~ Fate: 1

「Update: the new drinks should be safe - Juno called them in. Emi just got on the tour bus, and as I recall her and Aratani had a bit of a fallout recently. I can see why too. Back on topic, this is supposedly Emi running the show with resources from somewhere else, and I don't feel like Aratani would run with this independent image. This isn't Shirakawa. I'm pretty sure of it. Also, unknown anti-magic wielder? Their field's gone. No idea where they are, but they're about. Stay alert.」 Can't believe she didn't think of that before. Not important now.

The real problem was the rising fear, and her unsteadiness in general. She had to get a hold of herself. She had to. She was going to have to move eventually, and currently she felt like she'd keel over if she tried. Can't be afraid. Can't let anyone worry. Got to save everyone.

If Yuki had followed Kiyomi to the mall that night... she would have become a magical girl too, most likely. Kiyomi wonders what that might be like. With only offhand knowledge of the genre to go on, Kiyomi primarily just thinks of magical girls as wearing brightly colored skirts and thigh highs. The clothes Kiyomi tries to fit Yuki into are immediately off-putting; the sugary facade of cuteness does not portray Yuki's finer qualities at all. Besides, it's not like any of the REAL magical girls follow that design perfectly either.

Responding to Yuki's question, Kiyomi surveys her options. Emi might be downstairs; as a dutiful hero sworn to protect the world Kiyomi should prooooobably be investigating things. It seemed the others were on the case though; if things go badly she is fully prepared to save the day of course, but for now she has more important matters to attend to.

「Skull it is then.」 Kiyomi claps her hands together and starts walking, measuring her pace so as to stay by Yuki's side.

Dedric slips into the room sighing in relief. He scans the room cursorily and reaches for the card he had saved in his pocket. That’s when he sees her, Mrs Miku, or is she? He gasps in surprise raising a hand to cover his mouth in horror. Small tears form on the corners of his eyes as he sees his sister laying there in that bed.

How? She died… dad told me she died. It was the only thing he had to tell me after years of self-imposed exile. After I left her… Why is she here? It can’t be her. It just can’t.

He closes his eyes as he sees her again. The summer sun shining and the noise of water splashes behind them as they picked flowers and weeds in equal measure, and her smile, brighter than all the sun and more refreshing than ice in that afternoon.

He opens his eyes again and she’s still there. His sister was dead, buried in that cursed town, he saw the grave, he went there alone without anyone knowing to visit her. To silently has for her forgiveness. That wasn’t his sister, he knew that. She was surprisingly similar to her, though.

He steps closer to her, card in hand as she tosses and turns in her restless sleep. Arrhythmia caused by overactive nerve endings. That was a pretty serious diagnosis for her. It made sense that she was there. Dedric looks around quickly, time was of the essence, Mr. Miku wouldn’t stay in the bathroom for long. Lightly he tapped the woman on her shoulder.

The mall has another Yokai, a former coworker of mine is throwing a party inside the building, someone poisoned the drinks and nearly killed Bubbles with one. There are lots of magical girls all over the place nearby... is that Bubbles?" Sora asks, leaning to the side, brow furrowing and eyes narrowing as the van obfuscates him from view. "Don't drink the drinks." she repeats rather firmly as she tries to move so that she can see around the van... then pauses and shakes her head. "Doesn't matter if it's him, her, whatever."

She then pauses as one of the twins shares what they know of the inside of the building. She nods slowly. "I... think I'll be able to get some of us in in much the same way as her haughtiness did. Assuming I'm not persona non grata... in which case we'll find another way in."

She looks to May, "What do you think we need to focus on here? I know there's a lot going on, and I don't understand most of it myself, but..." she motions to the mall with a shrug. "If there's another bomb inside like last night..."

When you descend the dark ramp, down the gullet of the decorative skull, the room opens up into the basement of the mall. The room stretches the length of the mall, but is divided near the middle by a temporary stage with heavy felt curtains blocking off the backstage area. The area in front of the stage is set with an array of standing tables.

To your immediate left, a bar has been set up. At the moment, the woman behind the bar is furiously unpacking boxes of hors d'oeuvres. She seems to be the only staffer on this side of the stage, and she doesn't look terribly interested in the two of you. The bar itself is a row of coffins, and the food is arranged inside. A faint blue glow suggests the food is being kept under UV light to keep the buffet sanitary.

You’ve eaten this morning, so the display is no great temptation to you. Yuki barely looks at it, and is more focused on what’s beyond the bar.

In the back of the room, away from the stage and tables, are a row of display cases. Yuki’s hand is in yours in a second, and she drags you over to see what’s inside.

In the back of the display cases, large wooden crates are on display. Each has stamps on them in multiple languages, showing that they have gone through a long journey to wind up under a mall in Obusa. From the mentions of Fuhrer Hitler, they’re probably from WWII. (Your school just got done with their unit on Hiroshima. 8/6 never forget.)

In front of the crates, arranged like a museum display, are a number of random-looking artifacts: combs, scabbards, curved knives, spoons, and badges. In the center of the middle display is a small gold chest with a sixteen pointed sun embossed into the lid. Inside is a bounty of ancient silver coins.

Oh, wow... These aren’t regular circulation for Macedonia, these were medallions struck after the deaths of Philip, Cleopatra, and Euridice. Alexander hadn’t even secured the throne yet.」Her nose is practically touching the glass. 「One side shows two serpents wrapped around a stone, representing Olympias’ intent to unify Greece and Egypt--You know she insisted Zeus came down in the form of a serpent to impregnate her with Alexander--The other side is an unusually young depiction of Alexander in laurels. She really was one ambitious b#!%+ with a fear for the spotlight. They say she killed anyone in her way with poison.

Dedric:

Miku Hotaru bolts upright in bed, eyes open, but rolled back into her skull. “Beware the eyes behind the eyes, the puppetmaster's strings. She laughs and dances out of sight, the dinner bell she rings. Beware, my blessed flower, of her words and of her ways. This self-named God will smile so sweet, but death’s the game she plays.

Her body goes limp, and she falls back into the bed, blinking into consciousness. 「Hello? ... Who are you? ... Have you seen my daughter, Sakura?」She doesn’t seem to realize she was just shouting... in English.

Anyone else want to make a move, either into the mall, or into the bus? With Chrysanth missing, it's just Airi, Sakura, Tomoyo, May, Sora, and Alex. Is there anything you're waiting for from me?

Kiyomi listens to Yuki with genuine interest. Yuki had never been forced to excel; her impressive grades came from her real passion for learning. Subjects brushed over in lectures would become a subject of ravenous research for Yuki, until she knew more about them than the teacher.

Still, a worrying thought creeps in the back of of Kiyomi's mind. 「Why are such valuables being kept here? They must have been brought in by Emi's people, but as interesting as they are I can't imagine ancient Egyptian artifacts to be on-theme with a magical girl rave.」 If they had some magical properties that could be used for nefarious purposes Kiyomi should be able to sense it-an unexpected advantage from her first failure-but they do not seem to trigger any sort of hunger.

Dammit, I ended up investigating anyways. I need to focus. This event is Kiyomi's best chance to tell Yuki how she feels, it would be foolish of her to muck it up.

Just ask her how she feels about you. It is really quite simple. Boys do it all the time without any sort of fuss, surely if those weak-willed mongrels can pull it off then so can you.

「So, Yuki... I was wondering... Is your outfit from some anime? It really does suit you well.」

Okay, that is true, but not what you were supposed to say. Redact! Redact!

「You know I'm not well-versed in that sort of thing.」

Iris continues to shake. She was practically vibrating. She was so, so scared right now of all the terrible things that could happen. There was so much she didn't know. So much that had already happened. She knew she had to do something, but she couldn't! She would collapse if she dared try, her legs were shaking that much. And for all the smiles she may wear, she couldn't even speak straight.

One person had died already. So many more could too. And would, if she didn't act. Rushing in and making a mistake was nothing new, but causing something to break down by doing nothing...? It was a new kind of thoughtless action. Choosing to do nothing because you're too scared and just don't know what to do, and watching it all fall apart because you were too afraid to try. Somehow, it seemed like the scariest thing of them all.

She grips the pool skimmer harder. She couldn't. She couldn't...huh? Wait. Her mind goes back to earlier in the day. Kazue. The moment when that fearsome visage of death shifted into a temptress. The general way she seemed to become a whole new person from that point onward, a few times. And this was one of her trinkets.

Could...could she do that too? She looks around. Everyone seemed to be distracted with the drinks. Using the pool skimmer to stumble along, she moves to a point where line of sight was broken between everyone else and her. Somewhere she was sure she wouldn't be seen. Right. She reaches out to the magic of the pool skimmer, and calls for it to manifest. She needed a mask. A mask to hide her fear. A mask for a magical girl, confident and unfettered. A mask that everyone else would see...and a mask that she would be.

Just in one door and out another. You're not responsible for any of this... and I'm pretty sure there's nothing that could keep you." she says, before looking back towards the mall. "From the sounds of it, your power set encompasses unsurpassed freedom. I think mine's more about intuition... though it also comes with some understanding that I don't particularly enjoy." she takes a moment once more before looking back to her. "Like... I understand that I've a power set that can prevent any of these terrible things from happening... maybe. Not for certain. But -" she stalls for a moment, looking confused, but then moves on, "This is real life, not a dream. I can't just walk by and let people do this sort of thing."

"In the end... you, more than anyone else, have a choice what to do here, I think. I feel like I'm being pulled here. The eggs, Emi, Shirakawa... my life has been spent sitting on top of a pond for all my life, and I've never seen the koi beneath until last night. Now, suddenly, I can swim... and there are so many people about to drown." she pauses once more. "So... I'm going in. I'll try to talk to Emi, and if that doesn't work out, guess I'll just have to do it the hard way - take a nap." She then looks back to May, "You just need to know... it really is your choice." she then turns on her heels and heads for the bouncers, leaving Sora to decide which path she would take - without anyone coercing her.

Kiyomi:

I know, they’re more your mother’s taste. Almost like she’s taunting you guys. It’s so strange how they’re pushed into the back here, though.」 She sighs, and fogs up the glass of the display. This seems to shake her back to the present. 「Sorry, this was supposed to be our night. I get a little carried away when it comes to history...」Yuki shares a nervous laugh. She’s turned away from the display case, and takes your hand again.

When you call out her outfit, Yuki tugs on the sleeve of her jacket. 「Oh- It’s an anime where a girl... involves herself in the business of men. A noble prince visits her as a child, and rather than falling head over heals and waiting in her tower for his return, she decides she’s going to grow up to be a prince herself. Once she rescues a princess she turns into a car, so it’s not exactly the best example, but I had one of my brother’s old uniforms handy, and I thought you might like the shorts.

You feel something impose itself over your body. Your grip on Yuki’s hand becomes steel and you pull her in close. You feel her feet lift off the ground as your free hand lifts her up into a kiss. Yuki’s entire body goes rigid with shock. You can feel one hand pressing against the cuirass of your armor, but she does not pull away. The pose suggests the temptation of a hero. The scene is treated with a vignette of black roses. A band of woven gold closes around Yuki’s ring finger.

The sound and flash of a camera breaks the romantic styling of the scene. 「Glorious.」 The man holding the phone is built like a pile of sandbags. Unlike the rest of the staff, he’s dressed in road leathers. His sandy yellow hair comes to his shoulders in thick curls. His eyes are a piercing blue.

Yuki is stunned to silence in your arms.

It looks like the others are heading inside, and you don’t want to be left out. It is a party after all. From Sakura’s description, the soul snakes are gathering in the basement. The west entrance is unsupervised, as well as the dock leading into the back of the mall.

You cannot suffer Trauma while wearing this mask. Removing the mask will cause you 1 Trauma. You can slide it to the side, like Chrysanth’s mask, but you cannot remove it from your head without suffering.

Sora, (and May?):

You approach the nearest entrance and are surprised to find the office lady from the bus stop. She’s in a simple black tube dress with some sloppy blacklight makeup. She looks up from her phone and snaps her gum in shock. 「Oh, wow. You’re here, and by the looks you aren’t here to party.」 She stands up from the table and looks around like she’s taking stock of her station. 「Yeah, this job can stuff it. It was a temp position anyway. I’ve gotta see you and Emi duke it out. Come on, I think she’s in the tour bus- Is Kazue coming too? I could get you both in.」She’s just about to lead you and possibly May inside when she looks from Sora to her phone. 「I can... take pictures, right?

Female Junpei Sagara, AKA Iris 「」 Hope: 2 ~ Magic: 0 ~ Trauma: 0 ~ Fate: 1

She reaches to the magic...and it takes hold. The mask spreads across her face, her fears fade away. So this is what magic can do. With the mask's magic taking effect, Iris feels...

「Sooo much better.」 She gives the pool skimmer another look over. This thing was gonna be handy, since she can use its magic. Kazue probably wouldn't mind too much as long as she got it back sometime. Her gaze falls on the mall. 「Soul snakes, huh? So that's what Gorgon was doing with those damn drinks. Can't be having with that!」 She takes the private moment to figure out how the claymore is oriented relative to its skimmer form. Can't accidentally kill someone because she didn't know which was the slashy bit and which was the not-slashy bit - that defeats the point of keeping people alive. Really, a giant hunk of metal speeding into someone was gonna hurt, probably break something even with the flat, but if they were on the receiving end of this thing they proooooobably deserved it.

Satisfied, Airi strolls toward the west entrance, skimmer over the shoulder, smirk on her face. It'd look better transformed, but people tend to freak out when someone walks in with a massive sword over their shoulder. Spoilsports. Suppose I wouldn't be able to carry it like that anyway, but it's the principle of thing!

Watching for the appearance of any new cards on the disk. I mean, I'm expecting one, I just don't know if there's going to be more.

In case it got lost in the wash, Naiad's conceptualizations for the trinket 'combat forms' are now set

Provided May and Sora don't leave Naiad immediately, and when Sakura arrives...

Naiad will pull out three of the 'stone eggs', one each to May, her friend, and Sakura.

「Pet Rocks for you. Now treat them safe and make sure they get a nice garden to stay in, okay? When you see the others, let them know I have theirs?」

Naiad attempts to smile and be friendly with that offering, giving a Knowing Look to each of them and also watching Zeek to see what his reaction is.

「If you need a few minutes to regroup, miss, that's perfectly understandable. It's been a long rough night and things are bound to get one a bit thrown 'off'?」

Like a certain boring sailor that's well up past his bedtime?

Naiad will watch Sakura hopefully, while also keeping an eye on the tuxedo fellow they doesn't recognize.

[Sheets] [Map]

Alex:
Last I saw, you're still in super deck crew mode. The forms of your trinkets are set, it's up to you if they take that form now, and you can still have taken magical girl form too, that's all up to you still, because it hasn't changed what's happening. I'm just writing based on what I'm reading.

Zeek seems pleased that you're not keeping all of your literal eggs in one figurative basket. He'll growl at any senshi who does not take an egg.

Alex and Sakura:

When the three of you (four of you?) reach the east wall of the mall, you’re not the only ones to have considered this route.

A young man in a tuxedo, top hat, and white mask is holding a cable that leads up to the broken window on the second floor. He gives the cable a couple waggles, cuffs his nose, then spots you: A pair of twins, well endowed, dressed in pulleys and armor, and a scary-serious looking army guy. From the look he gives the two of you, he’s spotted the look of recognition you gave each other, and that seems to be weird enough for him to bring forward the cable he reflexively, and stupidly, tried to hide behind his back.

It’s a rave, right?」 He seems to think that explains itself, because he starts climbing the wall.

Kiyomi likes this character from Yuki's description; too many girls sit on their hands and dote on some far off ideal. Deciding instead to become the ideal is a far more admirable goal. That being said, this whole business with becoming a car is... rather odd. Kiyomi opens her mouth to request explanation, but her lips move on to other matters.

Kiyomi does not even know what is happening until she has Yuki in her arms, her crush's lips locked with hers. She had felt it, for a brief moment: a loss of control, as if her body was being puppeted by an outside force. And that whisper in her mind...

Kiyomi realizes that she is still kissing Yuki and breaks away with a squeak, her face flushed cherry red. 「Y-y-y-y-y-y-yuki-chan, I...」 What could she possibly say? She just forced herself on her friend, and her best explanation was that the magical powers that she's had for barely a day made her do it. Then Yuki would just think she is wicked and insane.

Then the other source of distress in the room dawns on her: that man had taken a picture. He works for Emi. There are... so many ways a tabloid can spin a photo of Aratani Shirakawa's daughter kissing another girl.

「You.」 Kiyomi turns to the man, far larger than she is but not nearly as intimidating. 「I do not believe anyone called for a lecherous pig. I believe it in your best interests to delete that photo.」

Kiyomi: The man gives a warm and hearty laugh. 「Never fear, Hera, your sordid secret is very much safe with me.

K-kiyomi?」 Yuki finds her feet and backs away a step, touching her fingers to her lips.

I thought it would only be right to introduce myself.」The man speaks over Yuki. It seems like he’s ignoring her completely. 「I am a man possessed with the spirit of King Al-Iskandar the third of Macedon. It is my intention to conquer you and your comrades, and harvest the spirit energy of this town’s youth. I wish you luck in your efforts against me. You will need it.

The sound system kicks on with some house music.

Bewilderment is replaced with steel, and Yuki pulls a real-ass gun from a holster in the small of her back. 「Kiyomi, run!」 Her eyes are locked on the man. Her stance is confident. Her aim is rock-solid. 「Your blight ends here, Shadow!

Iris: Getting into the arcade is no problem. Once inside, the place is built like a funhouse. It looks like these halls were once filled wall to wall with arcade cabinets and pachinko machines, but now the few that are left are shoved up against the walls and into side corridors to clear a wide path for staffers. The cleared path heads directly to a door with a sign that reads 「employees only」. You can navigate to the broken down escalator, and you think you can reach the corridor to the east, but this door looks like where the event staff are headed.

One staffer rounds a corner just as you reach it, and aside from excusing himself, he doesn’t give you a second look.

You hear some music start playing downstairs.

Alex went back to girl form while assigning the trinkets their combat forms. Said combat forms are currently 'hidden' because it would get a person turned away from a rave under any circumstances.

"Yes... it's a rave. We were scoping this place out last night for something similar but someone beat us to the punch. Figure what the hey, we'll check it out, right? Didn't think to bring a cable, though, we were going to try and free-climb it. Cable's much better."

Naiad watches the motley group warily. Provided the cable still remains they will usher the Sakuras ahead of themselves.

Look who's all sneaky and suspicious and daring now. Didn't take much to change your stripes!

Please, just please, be quiet and work with me?

Oh, don't worry dear, we're in this together!

That wasn't a comforting thought.

Kiyomi begins to walk away, pulling Yuki along with her. She tilts her head back to speak to Iskandar one more time. 「A basement is hardly a suitable place for a war between empires. I assume this event is designed to give us a proper battleground? Then we shall wait for the proper time, and then I will remind you why you are a former emperor.」 It was a bluff, more or less; even Kiyomi recognizes that she would have a rough time against such a powerful enemy on her own. She would need time to organize the others and inform them of what they are up against.

And I need to find out what Yuki knows. She seems to know the enemy, but she did not respond to his presence by transforming, so... not a magical girl? Unless the gun is a trinket of hers. She could just already be transformed, since the others all take on the appearance of a 16 year old girl and Kiyomi growing up into Juno seems to be a unique effect of the Diamond Sovereign. Dedric looks at her, his eyes wide open from the sudden outburst. Blinking several times he reached into that dark recess of his mind where information came to life and painted his understanding of the world. Immediately the sky was lit with tiny stars, every idea of the “prophecy” from Mrs Miku was indexed in each of them. However, no matter how Dedric looked at it there were no constellations, the data didn’t connect.

The eyes behind the eyes. Hidden forces maybe? The puppetmaster. Sakura? The dinner bell she rings. As in, she sets a trap? Are we dinner? Death’s the game she plays. Yeah we must be dinner… but who then? And why was she speaking in English? Obviously so I could understand but does that mean someone knows I’m here… Could it be my sister talking? No, ridiculous. I don’t have time for this.

Dedric smiles towards the woman, suddenly aware of our short his time window really is. Her husband wouldn’t stay in the bathroom forever waiting for them to finish. He extended the card still smiling and spoke to her.

「Mrs. Miku, my name is professor Silva. I’m here before you on behalf of someone special. She is waiting outside and wants to support you but your husband denied her access. I want to know what is your will towards this subject.」

Dedric slightly waved the card towards her in a motion to encourage her to take it from him.

I’m really sorry guys for the delay. I’m currently abroad but I should get reliable internet starting today. Hopefully I won’t be this late again.

Dedric (actual spoilers):
Notes don't fail me now...
Mrs. Miku reaches up from the bed to take the card, and her fingers touch yours. Suddenly, there’s a conceptual earthquake in your intellectual landscape. Sheets of knowledge slide through the night’s sky like the aurora borealis. You recognize the colors of the other Magical Girls. Their points of light combine with yours.

You’re standing in the hospital lobby, looking at a half-empty vending machine. A woman’s voice states that Emi stole a truck of Shirakawa drinks. You’re standing in a thin wood, yards away from a house party that is winding down. A girl at your feet keels over and produces a leather snake from her mouth. You’re in a small appartment, time seems to slide backwards, focused on a white marble egg. The egg returns to a shelf in the form of a necklace, joining a collection of ancient artifacts including a chest of coins. A young girl’s voice recounts the rise of Alexander the Great, and the minting of coins by Olympia. You’re standing in the same basement, looking down on a row of coffins set out with food.

A dinner bell...

You look down at a homemade breakfast from the perspectives of May and Sora. Then, a twelve course dinner with Sakura and Kiyomi. You settle into your own skin and share tea and cake with them. Next is a last lunch at college with Paresh and friends. Finally, You sit in a bus and scarf a packed lunch.

There’s someone missing. As long as my notes are accurate...

You’re thrust into speculation, the lights finally line up into a constellation: Ophiuchus. The snakes. The drinks. The food. There are two phantoms at work tonight. The chest is Olympia’s trinket. You stand in Naiad’s body, chestplate gleaming, sword flashing, back to back with the lost girl from the alley and a girl shrouded in thick black shadows. Three of the strongest magical girls in Obusa. The three of you stand on a heap of bodies. Airi, Kiyomi, Chell, Tenshi, Chrysanth, all of them are dead. A small woman steps out of the shadows, black tears running down her cheeks. Then, an eye blossoms out of the ceiling. Trinkets, snakes, centuries of magical energy are absorbed by the large, fleshy eye. The woman kneels to take up her son’s ruined body, and screams at the massive eye. Eyes behind the eyes. You may act on player knowledge if there are any other connections you're dying to make.

You’re shaken from your epiphany by a sound in the hallway. Mrs. Miku is looking down at the card with a smile, but the only thing she can say when she looks back up to you is to ask for her Sakura. Her eyes look hollow. She's saying something about getting better for her, but none of it seems important. Alex is in trouble.
