All the Sakuras are sad.

No one else was watching Sakura!A, but since she wasn't acting through each body individually, she's been doing most of her actions in both Sakura!1 and Sakura!A. The magic shift only pulsed through Sakura!1 because I didn't want to set a dangerous precedent vis a vis mechanics and multiple bodies.

[Sheets] [Map]

Oh, when you have a chance, Juno, please roll 2d6. You can edit your post or post another, but you've got a potential fate-defying comfort move. It will affect how Traumatic this situation is for Sakura.

Perfect time to drop my first 1, huh. Well at least it isn't two 1's. I'm sure this won't have far-reaching implications we will regret later at all.

Aztec Emperor Death Curse Not for the weak.

Juno, for all you know this is why you've become as cold and precise as diamond? Just a thought :)

Bastian, is there a chance you might put the mechanical info you included in your first Recruitment post into the Campaign Info tab?

[Sheets] [Map]

I've added a revised version of the move information to the campaign info.

Keep in mind: without magic, Tracy will effectively default to a roll of 7 on any action she tries to perform, and magic damage is an order of magnitude greater than mundane damage. You would have to fight the Angry Princess for a very long time and win consistently to... dissuade her.

This isn't meant to persuade you to make the Heart Pledge, just make you aware of how playing a mundane character will work in this game. You're less Drzzt Do'Urden and more Prince Alexander of Daventry

Tracy's the girl to do it though, she'll get behind-the-scenes bonuses to athletic endeavors.

Male Dwarf Korak

If you consider things in a certain light Homura from madoka did just fine. But then she was able to use a ton of mundane items in a time stop bubble

[Sheets] [Map]

We would be talking about playing Madoka Kaname post-Homura's wish. hardmode level 9000.

That's okay, right now my/Tracy's goal is not so much 'win' as 'don't die/get maimed' by psychoghostcrybaby over here.

Male Dwarf Korak

Uh. Could you rephrase that. I'm not certain I understood what you meant.

A Madoka that never makes a wish.

If I understand correctly, Tracy trying to fight magical girl level encounters as a regular human is the equivalent of bringing the soft hands of a small child to a gun fight.

It may be a bit one-sided, yes, but everyone loves an underdog.

Honestly? Copy and paste.

Oh. I thought maybe there was a keystroke for that.

Hashimoto Sora 「」 Trauma 1 ~ Magic 1 ~ Hope 1 ~ Fate 2

alt + 191 and 192 are sort of... opposite. 217 and 218 similarly.

When I'm on my kindle, I'll likely go with <> because copy and pasting is infinitely harder.

[Sheets] [Map]

Whatever works. You all know both languages well enough to comprehend. It's jut become an integral part of character expression to differentiate (especially in the class scene) so I thought I'd try to go that extra step for your benefit.

Getting a vibe for 'Rise' by Origa (R.I.P.), intro for GitS 2nd Gig out of this scene...

Rise-Origa (Lyrics below, with translation, intro to series at end)

[Sheets] [Map]

You mean Naiad's theme isn't Reise Reise by Rammstein?

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

I'm guessing the 'poem' the mysterious stranger is referring to is this?

BastianQuinn wrote:

A part apart; a fate undone;

By blood and rote, I seal this heart;
Bind this spirit; turn the lock,
and rise again to keep the watch.

My next question being, do we then need to mechanically do this?

BastianQuinn wrote:
Roll 2d6 to transform. On a 2-5 your first change is horrifying and excruciating. Gain 1 Trauma, and you will have -1 on your first roll as a Magical Girl. On a 6-8 the transformation is eerie and strange, Gain 1 Magic. On a 9 or more, your transformation is miraculous and you feel energized. Gain 1 Hope, and take a +1 to your first roll as a Magical Girl. After rolling, describe your transformation.

Because Naiad has been recruited to be a magical girl 'soldier' under the circumstances, I think Rise fits better than Reise, Reise.

It also gives a hint of hope and is more declarative, sharper, peppy-er than Reise, Reise, which is almost like a dirge.

My opinion, mileage may vary.

[Sheets] [Map]

Naiad: I just meant it for a laugh.

Tracy: Only Sora got to skip that due to a bug exploit. The known way to trigger a transformation is to have an anchor, soaked in a bodily fluid, and say the poem. Mechanically, you then roll as you quoted for the nature of the transformation. I'll send you some options for your little transformational hiccup.

All good, all good.

I did listen to it, because curiosity cat, and all that. I'm holding back for another person or two to act before trying to go again, because those penalties start getting *mean*.

Male Dwarf Korak

Why are we referring to his as a Youma now? Did I miss something or is this just a different descriptor?

Bastian Quinn wrote:

The phantom across the room screeches in frustration. “No, no, no! We were here first! This place is trash to the likes of you!” The phantom begins to swell in place, becoming more solid, more heavy. A crown of small black horns sprouts around her head, and thick black veins warp her extremities into clawed talons. The creature stretches out to her new full height, eye level with the floor of the balcony, and lets loose a roar that shakes the mall in its foundations. A thick, whip-like tail unfurls from her back, tipped with a razor blade.

It adopted another form when it's blade broke and our annoying bird-friend (not Tenshi) showed back up.

[Sheets] [Map]

Rita Repulsa threw down the magic wand/staff/javelin and she turned into a foam monster suit. XP

It's a Japanese word for monster that might actually come from sailor moon, and it's the official term in the genre and the rule book for an episode boss.

Male Dwarf Korak

Yes but we were previously using nightmare to describe it so I wasn't sure she hadn't left us a nasty surprise in her place. Is she recognizable?

[Sheets] [Map]

Nightmare is where you are, (the smoke that's enveloping the mall) phantom is what she was described as, Youma is what she is now, mechanically and fictionally.

...

Tsukaima is the term for the talking bird within the genre (like Luna in Sailor Moon) but he's been called a yokai, which is a Japanese trickster animal spirit.

I'm sorry if it's a little bit too much vocabulary.

Male Dwarf Korak

Not now that it's been explained.

[Sheets] [Map]

Korak: One fate allows a re-roll, two fate is a +3.

It's okay, keep your Fate, I've got a plan.

In the future, remember that this isn't really a "swing your sword until the enemy dies" game. You get the most bonus for fictional positioning, and coming at a problem from a new angle.

Male Dwarf Korak

Whoops. Sorry brain fuzzy.

Sorry I keep trying to catch up with this, but it both moves too quickly and there's too much going on at once.

I can't track this with the justice it deserves and so am dropping out.

Hope that doesn't cause too much of a problem for anyone.

Thanks.

[Sheets] [Map]

I'm sorry it had to come to that. I did what I could to keep things moving but prevent too many walls of text for everyone, but 12 is a lot of players, and I can't say I didn't expect a few to drop out.

I'll keep Fleur alive, and if things slow down I'll send you a PM, and we'll throw her back into the story if you're still interested.

I will say though, work and school have geared back up for me, so the thread is bound to slow down.

[Sheets] [Map]

I won't be posting much if anything tomorrow, and maybe into Thursday.

I'll try to answer questions when I have time, but take this time to consider your options and have some dialogue.

Except Tracy... Tracy will have to use sign language. =D

I was considering trying to grab May and 'anchor' her, but not sure what that mechanic would be or how it would work.

*falls down, begins suffocating. *

Actually, I'm fine. I will post later tonight, had some serious real life issues crop up yesterday & I'm still addressing those right now, but things should have calmed down by then.

Male Dwarf Korak

Are we in a new round now?

[Sheets] [Map]

What do you mean by round?

Your Drain is still the same for affecting the Battle. The reason I made up the Drain rules is that the game wasn't designed for so many players, and not everyone here can post every day. The battle system is weighted for one attack per participant, and I didn't want one or two players rolling six attacks before the other players even had a chance to react. At the same time, I didn't want the faster players to have nothing to do, hence the scenes from the past.

In this context, "the Battle" is the Youma and her paused spell. You can do other things with your magic without suffering from drain, and you can act without rolling and leave it up to what makes sense. This is a bit of a lul in the battle, so it's a good opportunity for interactions between players and experimentation.

Trying to find a happy medium between waiting for everyone to post once before continuing, and complete and utter chaos.

Hashimoto Sora 「」 Trauma 1 ~ Magic 1 ~ Hope 1 ~ Fate 2

Also... I have got soooo many songs to add into this now. Dreams was a really good choice for music.

[Sheets] [Map]

"The girl" mentioned in my post was Tenshi. The phantom has since turned into a ten-foot giant naked demon lady, and then fallen to the floor and is now pulling an Akira. Sorry for the confusion.

You know I love musical accompaniment. =D

If you're familiar with Shadowrun, your role as the dream senshi is like the Deckers in that game. A lot of utility, and your actions could make or break a mission, but you aren't as suited to direct combat as others might be.

Hashimoto Sora 「」 Trauma 1 ~ Magic 1 ~ Hope 1 ~ Fate 2

Yup! Though my only knowledge of it are what I've heard other people talk about it, and the Computer games recently released. I prefer playing a shaman but Decking is still cool. :)

Gonna have to do some past life stuff. Also, I find it hilarious that I'd thought about breathing in the dream, then you mentioned breathing, which reminded me about breathing. :)

You can say that, but in Shadowrun: Hong Kong my decker has a grenade launcher that's pretty dang effective.

[Sheets] [Map]

The videogames are much more multiclass friendly. Especially the SNES game. Jake Armitage is some kind of demigod.
