Sorry Devon - had posted, which was eaten by the boards and only noticed just now.

Like the idea of us effectively assuming a more coordinated approach, with hands on as an option.

Let's make Ra'hl our puppet king :) You're all servants of The Wild now anyway lol.

In all seriousness the Council approach would give us all an opportunity to feed in - we would still need someone (Head of State or whatnot) to have the final casting vote tho.

Still here! Wednesdays and Thursdays are my heavy hitter days. Feel free to skip or GM-Dominate Matt on those days if things are going. I try to keep up, but it doesn't always happen.

Okay, let's see. I like the combo Monarch/Council styled idea.

Ra'hl as King sounds great.

I'm all for whatever we can do to make the more monotonous parts of Kingmaker less time intensive for all the reasons that everyone has said. Devon, your idea, if I understood it correctly (still not fully awake) sounds fantastic to me.

Oy, we are level 4, woo! I'm going to be cleaning a lot this weekend, have a temp roommate moving in on Sunday, but I'll try and get Matt and Sabes leveled up tonight or tomorrow.

Oh and Duska :). If it's okay with you, I'm going to assume Matt has (if a month has passed) warmed up to you mostly at this point. Maybe not perfect, but friendly enough. Perhaps Saber changed his mind. Mostly because I'm not very good at playing a constant Grump it turns out.

Sorry if I was grumpy yesterday was a bad day....
Okay, let me take the weekend to draft a proposal for a hybrid system and we can talk first steps. I might have it up later today if work is slow and I feel ambitious enough.

folks can role for HP or do PFS of half+1+CON as far as leveling up.

No worries KMD - we all have off days - tis all good. For my part I should have checked my post, would have noticed it'd been eaten and at least reposted.

@Mattrim: Makes sense, they are both from the wild-side, just took different tracks to get there :)

Oh and Devon, what were you thinking with the Owlbear? What sort of "options" should I be thinking here.

...Does anyone else have any brilliant plans? I was thinking about trying to train it to be helpful. Of course Mattrim would want to have it exist in the most "humane" conditions possible. Which also means not letting it or others unnecessarily risk blood. Or more horses... *weeps* those poor, poor horses.

Oh and ze Tiger and Hunter should both be leveled now.

Will level up over this weekend.

Cuddles is good to go, now with the ability to not scare animals!
Also, he is almost to the Deific obedience feat to get that nifty bonus to grappling from the god he pays tribute to every morning. :)

M Human Shaman 3

Sorry guys, long lake coming trip just got back today, I will be updating my character later tonight or tomorrow. I like the hybrid idea that got proposed, I agree with not having the slow heavy dice crunching system.

Weekend was chaoitc. I should have some notes up later today.

Or today rather sorry...

So there are a number of ruler roles predefined under the normal rules. I've combined a couple of them and I think that they will cover most of our needs and then a couple of re-engineered set roles to fit our needs

Ruler (Supreme Councilor) - Ra'hl
Councilor/Treasurer - Oleg (NPC) (Is the bridge between the people and the council, handles the taxes and money)
General - Akiros (NPC) Military
Grand Diplomat - Svetlana (Olegs' Wife)
High Priest - Fergus
Magister - Anton (NPC?)
Marshall/ Royal Enforcer- Osk (NPC) Domestic law enforcement, main capital management.
Spymaster - Kressel (NPC)
Warden - Kasten Garess (NPC) other settlement enforcement, junior domestic law enforcement.

"New Roles"
High Explorer - Matt (Responsible for exploratory and mapping groups)
Grand Ranger - Duska (Responsible for hunting parties and "special ops")

The responsibilities are loose and obviously you will function as a group.

I see the kingdom structures as "high" and "low" councils with the party being the "high" and the low council being the others working on the day to day expansion of the territories with certain provisions being referred to the group.

The low council will basically spend the "build points" while working to expand the territory and the high council will tackle the "kingdom events" that come up during the various cycles of play.

Let me know how this rough sketch works.

I also need everyone to send me a PM with a description of an object of office that you want made or one that you have want modified. Primarly I want you to give me the fluff aspects of the object (gold crown or the stag's helm or whatever) and maybe some notion of what effect this object might engender in your allies or enemies (is the crown menacing? Is the sword grand and insiring) take a few minutes and get back to me about something iconic for yourself.

Matt -The owlbear can be made into an out and out companion, kept as a pet or given over to another party (like Jhod) to be trained up for some purpose. Basically its an owlbear with an IQ of a small child.

Fergus make sure you are leveled to 4

LN Human Bloodrager (Rageshaper)(Spelleater) 4 | Init +1 | HP 37/37 | AC 18; T 10; FF 18 | Fort +6; Ref +1; Will +2 | Resist Fire 5 | Perception +4

I feel like cuddles should have a role. Even if it is something minor like grand executioner or some other menacing low mental requirement job.

Otherwise it all looks good. I'll give some thought on the item and get back to you.

Grand Ranger of Stagfall - Female Half Elf Ranger [Wild Shadow] 4 | HP 32/32 | AC 17/T14/FF13 | F+5, R+8, W+2 | Perc +7, Low Light Vision | Init +6 | Move: 30ft.

Cuddles should be Chief Advisor lol.

What about Master Builder - in charge of construction, fortification and such.

Oh I missed this from my hand written notes.
I was going to make Cuddles the Royal Enforcer but give the more administrative duties under that title to Osk. So Cuddles would be like "chief bad-ass" but wouldn't have to hire royal guards or whatever.

HP: 24 AC: 18/12/16 F:5 R:2 W:0 CMD: 17 (20) CMB: 7 (11) Init: +2 Percep: +6

Me not hiring the guards is probably a good thing. I could totally assist in combat training with the military too.

It ate my post! Bah Humbug!

Okay... So short version.

All looks good, I'm excited IC/OOC to be the "High Explorer" sounds neat.

Owlbear-> Will think on, maybe friday night with ideas. I'm liking the idea to train it to some extent or another. Maybe turn it into a caravan guard or something. It's gotta look somewhat scary (not as much as Cuddles of course), that's half the battle right there.

Object of Office-> .... Gonna need to think on that as well.

Grand Ranger of Stagfall - Female Half Elf Ranger [Wild Shadow] 4 | HP 32/32 | AC 17/T14/FF13 | F+5, R+8, W+2 | Perc +7, Low Light Vision | Init +6 | Move: 30ft.

Make the owlbear a steed for Cuddles...

Would have this effect methinks :)

HP: 24 AC: 18/12/16 F:5 R:2 W:0 CMD: 17 (20) CMB: 7 (11) Init: +2 Percep: +6

Haha! I would have no problem with this.

M Human Shaman 3

All sounds good to me, I will begin thinking about my object, it does not have to have any functionality correct.

Yeah the initial idea is you choose something symbolic so in that sense it need not be functional though it could be if you wish (a cloak pin versus a sword are both good symbols and are, in a sense, both "functional" but to obviously different degrees.)

M Human Shaman 3

Ok sounds good, I will get working on it right away.

Grand Ranger of Stagfall - Female Half Elf Ranger [Wild Shadow] 4 | HP 32/32 | AC 17/T14/FF13 | F+5, R+8, W+2 | Perc +7, Low Light Vision | Init +6 | Move: 30ft.

Also more than happy with the Grand Ranger title and role :)

Regards symbol of office - am a little torn. The Stag's Helm is a pretty iconic item, and to reinvent its symbolism to something connected with The Wild and nature is very tempting... however it was also recognisable to the old regime of the Stag Lord etc (Duška will most likely wear it - or suggest we mount it in a trophy room/court to remind our foes of their potential fate :)

Am thinking of a quiver as another option. Would bear the symbol of the Grand Ranger (whatever that might end up being...)

HP: 24 AC: 18/12/16 F:5 R:2 W:0 CMD: 17 (20) CMB: 7 (11) Init: +2 Percep: +6

Cuddles item, if I get my way, will be... Flashy. I'm honestly thinking of buying a belt of Con as my first magic item because I chose a lot of attacks coming my way. Either that or some source of miss chance.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I dunno I feel like the stag's helm can be modified but still be a symbol of the old regime, besides the way Duska killed him makes her wearing it pretty epic in my book.

M Human Shaman 3

My symbol will likely be the spear wielded by Lugh Lamhfada.

HP: 24 AC: 18/12/16 F:5 R:2 W:0 CMD: 17 (20) CMB: 7 (11) Init: +2 Percep: +6

I had to look that up. Would you keep the, the head must be kept in a pot of water to prevent it bursting into flame part?

Male Human Hunter 4 | HP: 31/31
Common Stats:
AC: 19, T: 12, FF: 17; F:6, R:7, W:4; CMD 19, CMB +7; Init: +4 ; Perc:+10

Okay, round 2:

Bugbear:
If Cuddles wants to seriously try and do the mount bit. Matt will certainly do his best to make that a reality. If not, or the Bugbear seems less than eager then some sort of guardian for forward exploration patrols. It's got Scent, Darkvision, and a good Perception.

Symbol of Office:
I'm thinking an otherwise simple wooden compass with a Tiger engraved on the back of it. Matt wouldn't want some big gaudy thing, he would want something practical that was worked for efficiency. Perhaps it can be mountable on his belt or pack, easy to see and also access.

HP: 24 AC: 18/12/16 F:5 R:2 W:0 CMD: 17 (20) CMB: 7 (11) Init: +2 Percep: +6

Riding things isn't the best option for grapplers so feel free to train it however.

M Human Shaman 3

Yeah the burst into flames thing would be quite a concern, I would like to avoid that part. It would be cool though to have a flaming spear that becomes ablaze when you go flame on.

I think Ra'hl will keep it simple and make his symbol of office a signet ring of House Rogarvia.

I don't think a bugbear would ever agree to being a mount...the owlbear on the other hand...

I'll have proposed symbols and functions in a bit, hopefully the next couple of hours.

If you have an idea for Ra'hl I'ld love to hear it. Also, Aleria needs a council position.

Should I make Aleria spymaster? That or I could kick Kasten out and make her Warden.

things at work were nuts today so I can't give full mechanical effects but Fergus is cool fora flaming spear, we can make it turn on and off ;)

I'm curious what Dow has landed on, he hasn't chimed in in a bit.

Cuddles will get his crazy ass cloak...I just need to figure out how MUCH of it he gets, lol.

I've got som ideas for MAtt's compass, to be continued.

Ra'hl...we could go ring, I have a couple of notions or, depending on how prominent we want House Rogarvia displayed I have a notion for a celesital pennant of sorts if you want to hear it...

I'm slightly confused, should we be making the item something useful to our character because I am not much of a melee fighter, i am ok with it regardless just wondering.

Still here KMD

Aye - will run with the Stag Helm - as you said it is both a personal trophy and symbolic of our rise.

Am thinking of having the antlers entwined in thorns... give it that wild flavour.

LN Human Bloodrager (Rageshaper)(Spelleater) 4 | Init +1 | HP 37/37 | AC 18; T 10; FF 18 | Fort +6; Ref +1; Will +2 | Resist Fire 5 | Perception +4

Sorry for the delays everyone. I have family in the hospital and it is not looking good. Between that and work, I'm struggling to keep up. It should be better now.

I agree Aleria as warden makes sense. If we don't want to leave Kesten out, we could split Royal Enforcer, Marshall, and Warden.
One would be in charge of city guard.
One would be in charge of guarding land holdings, forest patrols, etc.
The last would be the Castle guard/elite guard that guards the council.

I would prominently display my house seal, so I would like to hear your idea.

Sorry I'm in a board meeting, I'll expand more later but Fergus the situation is grandeur/iconic first, function second. These will basically be legacy items that are primarily symbols but I want them to be fun/functional too.

-Posted with Wayfinder

Sorry for the delay in posting, its graduation at the college I work at it and its been f&**ing crazy the last couple of days.

So:

Duska: I'm thinking the stag lord helm cleaned up and maybe scrivened on its bones some of the same iconography that she has on her face with some gilding in silver to sort of amp up the otherworldyness/fey connection? The helm had some magic properties before as a piece of gear and I will account for that in treasure distro once we get past this part...aside from what you might imbue to it over time I see it perhaps giving greater fey connections or aiding in other magical acts that supplement Duska's development.

Fergus: The spear could flame off/on on command, can light things on fire (but slower so no combat damage at this point) and cast light like a torch. The flames color can be changed and its supernatural construction makes it usable as a one or two handed weapon. Aside from what you might want to add to it I can see it supplementing your spirit abilities and perhaps being a vessel to hold some of your abilities to allow for a greater flexibility?

Ra'hl: When you were talking about your house I got the image of a house flag that basically moves around like a self-flying weapon but instead of being a weapon it potentially grants morale and other type bonuses to those loyal to you in a certain radius. To start its mostly a visual effect maybe grating morale to one type of check (so more restricted than a bard) but that might be over the top. A ring could do a lot of things although I will be honest at one point I though of it projecting the house symbol to call people like Thundercats.

Cuddles: "a cloak of small polished silver plates on black cloth (complete with black iron shoulder spikes) and a crown of ebony and obsidion enchanted to produce a continuous flow of silver fog down my back (that, oddly, doesn't interfere with the glittering cloak)" Insane. I like it. Obviously you have some ideas but as you grow in power I think it would be hilarious if there were more and more particle effects coming off of the thing.

Matt: I like the compass idea. I was thinking that basically you could store it like a glove of holding (basically it always comes to your hand at your command) and then over time it potentially can find more things than just directions like locate spells and eventually maybe become like the Alethiometer or something.

I love legacy artifacts and I think they fit with Kingmaker real well. In my mind these items will get small functional upgrades but over time you may also invest in them to make them more powerful. I don't want them to be too nuts of an idea if its not something you folks want. Let me know what you think and then we will get treasure hammered out and then I will montage us forward a bit once more :p

HP: 24 AC: 18/12/16 F:5 R:2 W:0 CMD: 17 (20) CMB: 7 (11) Init: +2 Percep: +6

Looks good to me! I'm ready whenever. :)

KM-D: Some of these are insanely genius... the legend of Cuddles continues lol.

Stag Helm: Love that idea and look. Yeah getting it away from the antlered maw that is pictured would be great - unless it is of course a Peryton skull... which would also be very cool in an old skool way. Especially as Peryton's are alpha female led weird stag/wolf/bird-of-prey hybrids lol.

Am wondering for Ra'hl - would a dragon (two headed) standard be more in keeping with his conquering bloodline?

Sure one of the NPCs/Lesser bandits could become his Standard Bearer?

Was inspired by this Dragon Standard

Sorry for the delay again. My stepfather passed away last week and I have been a mix of too busy and just not emotionally up to gaming recently.

I like the banner granting moral bonuses.

Land name idea would be "Rogarvia", using the name as a very obvious call out to Brevoy's noble families of who Ra'hl claims to be.

If we plan to build our first city/castle where the Stag Lord was, I like the name "Stagfall" for it.
