Ah. Well, there goes that, then.

Female Kobold

I was thinking I'd allow him to spend two action points to do it—one for Lunge, and one for a "heroic" maneuver—but Lunge has a +6 BAB prerequisite. So, yeah. This is why chokers make better Sacred Fists.

=(

I favorited that post just so I could unfavorite it.

I don't suppose anyone has a potion of fly on them?

I don't...

If I were a 7th level Alchemist, I could've had an extract of fly. :(

Well if Eben managed to anger that Vrock Tanith can always run over and fight it.

Action Points: 11/13|Bombs: 15/23|Female Undine (Formerly Yugoloth-Spawn Tiefling) Alchemist (Chirurgeon) 16|HP: 56/85|AC: 22(36)/14(23)/19(26)|Saves: +15 Fort (+20 vs. Poison), +18 Ref, +12 Will (+1 vs. Enchantments)|Initiative: +3|Perception: +21

Alternatively, maybe Rodrigo could summon some sort of flying monster for Tanith to ride?

That would work. Or he could summon some sort of flying monster to just kill the jerk.

2 people marked this as a favorite.
Female Kobold

Alternatively, and I'm just spitballing here, you could combine the two and Eben could anger the vrock, tame it, and fly it into battle?

By the way, what does the "Held" condition refer to?

Finally, and I'm just being pedantic here, I will point out that the gravity elemental's tactics are a bit advanced considering what it knows. Gravity elementals are extremely stupid, and their page explicitly states, "Gravity elementals attack primarily by flailing at their opponents with multiple arms... These creatures can also attack by adjusting the local gravity fields around themselves." That's the extent of your typical 4 Int gravity elemental's tactical know-how.

I'll grant that grappling is a decent tactic once it knows how hard Xyrxog is to damage with its measly attacks, but it has no way of knowing that yet, and you have no way to direct it to take less direct tactics. :P

Whoops! I didn't realize it was 3PP or I would have asked first. Just followed the elementals link on d20pfsrd and went for that because it seemed like it might be useful here. If you'd prefer to retcon to a different creature we totally can.

I had it grapple due to its engulf ability, again wasn't thinking about it in such detail.

Ah, but I DO have ranks in Ride I've been accumulating specifically for the potential cavalier transition!

So what's the Diplomacy check to convince a hostile Type I demon that it wants to let me ride him like a pony against his presumed master?

It's probably an uphill battle, caster-level-check wise, but Zyrxog might need some dispel bombs shoved up hiss tentacled ass.

Yep. I'm banking on there being at least four spells active on him, including the one allowing him to fly. It's going to be rough...

[meta] I'm counting fly, displacement, false life, and whatever effect nullified Tanith's attack (sounded like DR, so maybe stoneskin.)[/meta]

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

I think it was False Life that nullified Tanith's attack.

Female Kobold

False life and a "hard protective surface". So, yeah, DR and False Life. False Life is gone now.

It's cool, I figured there was a reason like that. And I was wondering if that was the reason, but there's this:

Gravity Elemental wrote:

Engulf won't work on Zyrxog.

So I don't really understand all of the tricks this elemental can pull off but it looks like one of them is reverse gravity. Can it reverse gravity Tanith up next to or nextish to Zyrog?

IIRC, it's not smart enough.

After realizing how janky it is, I'd really rather just retcon it to an air elemental if that's okay. I have to go to the doctor, I'll check for a reply when I get back later.

I'm probably grasping at straws at this point but is there anything near the ceiling where Zyrog is that the rope of climbing could be commanded to attach to?

Female Kobold

Yeah, go ahead and revert, Rodrigo.

Unfortunately, Tanith, the ceiling is eighty feet up. You can have the rope connect back up to the balcony if there's something up there for it to grab (like an Astraden), but it can't reach the ceiling.

Male Suel Sacred Fist/Godling 15 | 161/161 hp, Init +0, AC 32 (39 presently) [touch 23, FF 24], Fort +20*, Ref +12, Will +21; Perception +7

Back to the drawing board!

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

Yeah, this is where the lack of a full Arcane caster (and thus various utility spells like Fly) starts to really bite us in the ass.

Male Suel Sacred Fist/Godling 15 | 161/161 hp, Init +0, AC 32 (39 presently) [touch 23, FF 24], Fort +20*, Ref +12, Will +21; Perception +7

Well we had an air walk, that's pretty close.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

Sorta. Air Walk is a rad spell (one of my favorites for Divine casters, actually) because it has a long duration and lets you use your base movement speed, but it lacks the maneuverability of Fly (namely, you can't ascend or descend straight up and down). You have to do some janky maneuvers to ascend, walking around sorta like a spiral staircase.

Plus, Fly is a lower level slot.

Male Suel Sacred Fist/Godling 15 | 161/161 hp, Init +0, AC 32 (39 presently) [touch 23, FF 24], Fort +20*, Ref +12, Will +21; Perception +7

Right but my point is that we had something fly-like, it just got dispeled. Having a full arcane caster wouldn't have necessarily improved this situation.

Maybe there's something Tanith can accomplish from the bottom level. Is there anything noteworthy about this pool?

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

It would have, since we would have had more slots available. Several flying people.

Male Suel Sacred Fist/Godling 15 | 161/161 hp, Init +0, AC 32 (39 presently) [touch 23, FF 24], Fort +20*, Ref +12, Will +21; Perception +7

Well, I certainly know which extract I'm taking next level up...

Male Suel Sacred Fist/Godling 15 | 161/161 hp, Init +0, AC 32 (39 presently) [touch 23, FF 24], Fort +20*, Ref +12, Will +21; Perception +7

It's pricey but Tanith will be saving his pennies for the eagle totem tattoo. It's more expensive and less maneuverable than the traditional boots of flying but slotless and comes with a load more style points.
