KC's Age of Worms

Game Master Kobold Catgirl

The Library of Last Resort is your last chance to find the resting place of Dragotha's phylactery. But you aren't the only people looking for it.

Yup. We've still got insane amounts of rope, right, so no matter how deep the pit is the less climbing-oriented members of the group should be fine?

This thing looks more straight-down pit than the annoyingly realistic chasm in Icosiol's tomb, so scaling it should be much less problematic, hopefully.

Who needs rope when you have communal air walk?

Speaking of which, who has their own flight and who wants walking? Me, Tanith, Cuetzpalli and Eben?

I've got a couple of fly extracts for anyone who needs them.

In the meantime, my personal buffs will be as follows once we get to the pit: shield, fly, death ward, false life, mutagen (DEX & CON).

I'll hand off see invisibility to whoever thinks they could make the most use of it. I've got an additional false life extract in reserve too.

I can provide my own flight.

And congrats on your interview, KC!

Since I have glitterdust now, I'll take the see invisibility extract so I can share the love when needed.

And yeah, Eben will do the walk down.

Female Kobold

Hey, Farrukh, am I right in assuming you are not currently giving anyone, including yourself, any bonuses on Initiative? No favored terrain, no stance benefits?

Gark's been working on a handy place to track buffs, but the Path of War stuff is all very new still.

HP: 123/125| AC: 34 (38) FF: 32 (36) Touch: 16 (20) CMD: 29 (33)| Init: +5|Fort +14, Ref +12, Will +12| Action Points 2/11| Perception +21 (+23 Underground, +25 vs traps)|Aura: +3 AC/Will, 30 ft.|Current Stance: Riven Hourglass|20% miss vs magic

I have an Initiative boost. I put my current stance in the quickbar, a description of each at the top of my profile, and the current "true values" are in parentheses.

Everyone else has a +3 AC and Will (also listed) but not Init.

Female Kobold

Cool. Does that "20% miss chance" just apply to magic attacks like acid arrow, or any magical effect?

Gonna copy the text and let you make the judgment call on that: By altering the flow of time around yourself, you flicker between potential time paths, slipping quietly between the grains that fall within your Hourglass. While you maintain this stance, you gain a +4 dodge bonus to your AC and a +4 bonus on Initiative checks. In addition, you become immune to the slow spell, and any power, psilike ability, spell, or spell-like ability that targets only you suffers a 20% miss chance.

Female Kobold

Huh. That's poorly-written. If it is supposed to be a "failure chance", why not phrase it like the incorporeals' ability?

Quote:
Corporeal spells and effects that do not cause damage only have a 50% chance of affecting an incorporeal creature.

Any place where there might have been discussion on it? I'll start looking. Go ahead and roll the d100 now—if you don't roll 81+, it won't matter for now.

Is this an SLA? Gazes are generally Su I thought. If not, then it doesn't matter just yet regardless.

Female Kobold

Oh, I guess that's so. It imitates a spell, but it's not spell-like.

Dungeon Kobold wrote:
I actually can't think of any gaze attacks that don't make you save every round. So no, it's one "one and done". Assuming you closed your eyes, I'll roll the miss chance for you.

I keep confusing Gazes and Auras for some reason.

These don't happen to be evil outsiders do they? And because I'm derpy, everyone don't let me forget that I have:

At 8th level, once per bloodrage you can reroll one ability check, skill check, or saving throw you just made. You must decide to use this ability after the die is rolled, but before the GM reveals the results. You must take the second result, even if it's worse.

I haven't used it once yet, because I always forget it. I boy scout promise not to open spoilers before I decide whether to use it or not.

Are the worm-beasts' gaze attacks still affecting us if they're running away?

Female Kobold

Technically, yes. I'll let it count as an auto-avert, though, so you can have the 50% chance to avoid it.

Female Kobold

Caught a cold and feeeling like hell. The next post will be delayed.

My new recruitment thread

RPG Superstar 2010 Top 32, 2011 Top 4

So ever since Arcane Anthology came out (which was unfortunately after our extended stay in Magepoint) I'd been planning to retrain Eben into the arrowsong minstrel archetype. My justification for it would be that Forzamele is training him in some lost lore of the lillend or something like that.

But I finally sat down the other day to work out how much game time that would take and, ow, it's going to be about 50 days. Which, I know we're not on a timer, but two months of game time seems a long time to (in character) hope the apocalypse doesn't happen while I'm learning to inspire courage.

Any suggestions for ways around this? Can Manzorian zap Eben to the Astral plane for a relativistic day and Eben comes out a year older (or whatever the faster time of going astral is, it's been a while). Or is there going to be another significant break in the action I can take advantage of?

Female Kobold

After this adventure, you'll find yourselves in the last major break of the AP before it goes into the endgame and things start moving decidedly faster. If you guys need a chance for proper downtime, that'll likely be the last opportunity.

I'll put some more thought into your question later. We might be able to split up the time, or offer an in-lore explanation for it being accelerated.

RPG Superstar 2010 Top 32, 2011 Top 4

This would be a great time for a lengthy ocean voyage back north. Stupid word of recall!

Liberty's Edge

Male Underpowered Warrior 1

KC, for future animations, would I be able to use construction points and flaws from Carrion Crown: Haunting of Harrowstone?

Female Kobold

Sure. Animate objects is overpriced anyways.

Female Kobold

Alright, guys, you're level 12 now, so here's the rule we're going to adopt for high-level play: Casters, please keep track of your spell durations, and repost them at least once per page. Some of you already do, and that's great, but I could really use it from everyone now. Is that going to be workable?

THP: HP: 159/165 (207/213), BR 33/36, APs 10/12; AC 27, T 15, FF 26; Fort +18 Ref +13, Will +13 (16, +2 ME) (+4 vs evil all saves); Perception +19, Init +5 Everyday buffs: GFL, bear's endurance, protection from evil (permanent, undispellable) Currents: blessing of fervor, good hope, shield

I try to, but would find it useful if you would post "X rounds have passed since my last post" when you do updates. Then I can more accurately keep the timers rolling down.

Yeah. I'm not against tracking and posting spell durations but I'll need clear descriptions of how much time is passing with each scene.

Liberty's Edge

Male Underpowered Warrior 1

Yeah, that would be useful.

Female Kobold

Alright, that sounds fair.

So, question for next round: If I'm flying above someone, can I use Shield Slam and have the floor be a "wall"?

Realized if I'm going to be flying so often, maybe I should actually USE it. Could have been getting high ground bonuses this entire time.

Female Kobold

Realized I never replied to this.

I'd say yes, but you take a -5 penalty on the check, since it's not an especially advantageous position (and it's also a really good option for a flying Farrukh). That sums to a -4, including elevation bonuses.

Liberty's Edge

Male Underpowered Warrior 1

Sounds like no post until tomorrow, folks. KC's running an intro game at some fair tomorrow.

Female Kobold

Yeah, sorry about the spotty posting lately, guys. I'm just trying to adjust to a new schedule. School's started again, and the RPG club's picked up about eleven new members. Things should speed up again over the next couple days.

Well, I just got home from work so that tells you how my weekend's been for posting, mostly. =)

I will get a post up with my own buffs, and update my buff bar as soon as I can. Wife is away on business so I'm on fulltime baby duty right now. Haven't had much time to post.

Sorry, I've been on the move all day today and I'm pretty drained. I'll update the combat tomorrow.

This is going out to all the games I'm either playing in or GMing:

I'll be away at a local convention from Nov. 4th to the 6th. As such, I won't be posting on those days.

Out of curiosity, would my gaseous form extract be able to move through the Sea of Worms without getting any worms on me?

Female Kobold

Hm. Good question! Probably!

3 people marked this as a favorite.

From the campaign info page:

"But as you supposedly near an age where heroism and kindness are fated to decay into madness and cruelty, you have to wonder: Can Fate be fought?"

So, a quick recap...

--Bucknard came to the Spire of Long Shadows to learn more about Kyuss.

--Kyuss used to be a mortal priest.

--Kyuss now requires a large stone monument--one that a certain dragon has made off with.

--The Harbinger was Kyuss' tutor, and awaits the day the Age of Worms begins.

Does that sound about right? I know I missed something, so if someone could help fill in the gaps, I'd really appreciate it. :)

Female Kobold

Sruggut also gave you some fairly important details.

Liberty's Edge

Male Underpowered Warrior 1

Kyuss is inside the monolith, to be clear. He was also a mortal king, and the monolith he used to make himself a god sucked up the souls of all his subjects before sucking him in too.

The dragon is a red wyrm named Dragotha.

Those three Kyuss knights brought some darkness to Kyuss or something? Then were attacked by eladrin.
