The party's paying for all of it.

I subtracted 2675.

So... it looks like my ordinary armour would give me more protection than the bracers, then. The base armour bonus and the +2 enhancement are higher than what the bracers offer me, but the bracers allow me to reroll a d20 roll next round if an attack misses me by 5 or less...

Ooh, after some consideration, someone else might make better use of them than me...

Tanith is the only one who doesn't wear actual armor I believe.

I considered them but the bracers only provide one more armor than my usual Rodrigo-supplied mage armor. 12k for 1 more AC isn't the greatest investment right now.

How are we handling these 24 days? Are we just summarizing what's going on or doing things on a week by week basis?

Gark the Goblin wrote:

Jelani, is that a "I'm too busy to post except in necessities" or a "I can't think of anything to do?" Because Astraden is interested in spending some downtime with him (and not entirely just to watch locals' expressions when they see his wings).

More of the latter I guess.

Female Kobold

Probably just summarizing, but feel free to roleplay as well.

Fun fact, I had originally thought to make Farrukh a two-shield user, but tossed the idea since I decided you'd probably smell the Limburger I had cooking and toss me out. =p

(Shield Master TWF for no penalties at all!)

Heh. It's good to know that even you have your optimization limits.

Female Kobold

I've always liked the "dual-shield fighter", but I like it on flavor grounds, not statistical ones. That it happens to also be a super great martial build is just a bonus. ;)

It's more I don't like building characters based on corner cases or highly ambiguous rules. I like optimizing, not exploiting, basically.

What's law enforcement like in Magepoint? I'm working on my summary for Tanith's activities in town and they likely include at least one bar fight.

Female Kobold

Law enforcement is basically a "Sliding Scale of Who's-In-Town-At-The-Time". And there's a steep curve.

1. Bartender is out on a smoke break, total chaos.
2. Bartender politely asks you to take it outside.
3. Sheriff and his goons show up; politely but firmly ask you to take it outside.
4. Sheriff and his two deputies and some random preachy adventurer shows up (probably a paladin who's read too many threads about how his code works), demand you take it outside.
5. Celeste and/or some other agents of Manzorian show up and start throwing punches. Possibly get caught up in the excitement because most of Manzorian's agents are kind of adventurers themselves.
6. Archmage shows up, turns aggressors into various small animals for a week.

Female Kobold

Alright, what are we waiting on here?

Tanith's waiting on word from Gorrim and leatherworking details.

Liberty's Edge

Male Underpowered Warrior 1

Nothin'. I mean, Astraden's conversations are just for some extra characterization while she waits for everyone else's timelines to catch up.

Female Kobold

That's what I'm asking. I don't know what you guys's exact plans are—I wasn't sure if Tanith wanted to go to the library or just go to bed and wait, for instance.

Male Suel Sacred Fist/Godling 16 | 147/161 (179/193 buffed) hp, Init +0, AC 32 (45 presently) [touch 23, FF 24], Fort +20*, Ref +12, Will +21; Perception +7

I thought we were more summarizing than RPing each individual day out.

Assume Tanith bums around town with Carina for the rest of the day and returns early the next morning for his morning prayers. I was going to do the library after we get the leatherworking thing sorted out.

Liberty's Edge

Male Underpowered Warrior 1

After tonight Astraden will be scrying on Spiny and working on the first week of scrolls 9 hours/day. I figure an attempt to get into the library for free will also be warranted. And she'll spend nights in the bar or with the party members.

Did anyone want any combined items? Patlewarrick's working on my shit for 6 days but that still leaves 18 days worth of work if y'all want something prepared. (Apart from the scimiklar short sword modification, which can be done by some other craftsperson?)

I plan on responding to you Astraden, but right now my brain is too fried by homework and crying baby to do it properly. I'll try to get something up later tonight or in the morning.

Farrukh is basically going to split his time between the library and new training. Basically as justification for his stats and abilities being swapped around a bit next level.

So what would the cost on muleback cords of resistance +2 (or a cloak of mulish resistance +2) be?

Cloak +2 is 4,000, muleback cords are 1,000, and then applying the 1.5 multiplier to the lower priced item it looks like it would be 5,500 total? Is that right? And would I then subtract the cost of my pre-existing cords from it for a total of 4,500?

Yeah, that's how I keep myself from feeling this is inherently cheesy: it's clearly intentional synergy!

Mule's Resistance is one of the lesser-known second level spells.

Yes, Eben, I believe that's right.

Tanith's not really loaded either.

Since we're both cash-strapped let's just research recitation and sheltered vitality. We'll come back and get the others if time/coin permit in the future.

RPG Superstar 2010 Top 32, 2011 Top 4

Not that I have the spare cash for it right now either, since it'll be a 9K gp item at the minimum, but would I be able to take Moreto's scroll of shadow blink and get a page of spell knowledge made out of it?

Hmm.

So.. would I be able to blind a creature like that multi-eyed demon monster with a Blinding Bomb? Admittedly, that was my entire reason for grabbing the discovery in the first place--I thought that a blinded creature wouldn't be able to use its gaze attack until its blindness was cured.

I swear there used to be a specific rule that caused gaze attacks to stop functioning when a creature was blind.

Maybe it was a 3.5 thing.

Female Kobold

Yeah, the rules are vague on it. It would certainly prevent them from deliberately directing the gaze during their turn, and things like eye tyrants would be unable to fire at you, but I'm unsure about gaze attacks. It's usually less "what they see" and more "what you see".

You would be able to blind the oculus demon, though.

I guess my edition-dementia is acting up. It looks like there was no such rule in 3.5 either.

Female Kobold

Wrong chat'd this.

Astraden, have you and Tanith learned all the spells you want? If not you should probably take advantage of Fluid Time and just roll them all at once. If so, are we (aside from Eben's conversation with Lowri) ready to move on?

Yeah we're good (and out of money). Were the attempts successful?

Tanith, I'm marking down that one thousand gold.

Is it worth it (monetarily) to trade up to a heavy armor? I'm forced to drop my Dex to 12 in order to boost my Int, so it seems worthwhile.

And I'd have a Stance that drops armor a category while I'm in it (so Mithral Full Plate would count as Light Armor).

But it's sooooo expensive. Getting Mithral Full Plate would cost as much as making my current armor +3.

Well, I guess in the long run it's the same AC, nevermind. +9 in both cases.

Assuming this campaign gets to the upper teens at least mithril full plate is worth it in the long run.

Female Kobold

You'll be coming back to Magepoint after the next adventure, so you could potentially buy it afterwards.

I'd have to anyway, since we don't level again until the end do we?

BTW, what was the final payout after scrolls and such?

Sounds like a good idea.

I wish the warpriest got spells at lower levels like other 6 level casters.

That was one of my main gripes with the Warpriest casting, and the Hunter too in the playtest.

They fixed the Hunter (its ability to nab Ranger spells and split the difference between that and the Druid one is pretty damn sweet), but not Warpriest for some reason. The class should really get access to the Paladin list the same way.
