I can see several ways to do that. Follow the chem trail of the propellant, review satellite footage, probably a thermal trail. So Computers or Search depending on abilities or senses.

Into the communicator "Let me check. "

then to the computer "VICTOR, can you figure out the launch site of the missile which took out the airliner?"

"The missile was launched from a North Rheelasian Sosa class missile destroyer 26 miles north-north west. I'm reading two submarines at a depth of 100 meters flanking it, also North Rheelasian."

Waiting for Captain Robo and Forzare to post. Hoping that Shudder will join in. I miss the Yellow Ring.

"Victor! Put me on the plane!" Forzare calls, and waits impatiently if it happens any slower than instantly.

Once there, he starts exerting his telekinesis to its maximum, holding the plane together and giving it a fighting chance to crash land.

"Everybody still in the plane stay calm and hold on tight!" he orders.

Pilot (To help guide the plane?): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (6) + 14 = 20

Forzare appears on the top of the fuselage. Just as he arrives, a portion of the outer wall begins to peel off. Forzare reaches out to pull it back in place.

The passengers slam into their seats as the plane levels off.

"What is that man doing?" a woman says, looking up through the tear in the hull.

With a sense of wonder, the boy sitting next to her says, "I think he's trying to fly the plane."

Captain Robo piggyback's on Forzare's teleport, already in motion when he appears outside of the aircraft. He spirals away from the plummeting vehicle to get a better grasp on the damage. Without missing a beat, nanites begin to materialize, rapidly replacing the destroyed pieces.
"Keep it together Forzare! This should help!"

Sorry for the hold up. Neil will be using his Create Object (with precise) to piece the craft back together again, enough so that its passengers won't fly out, and so that it would be easier for Forzare to pilot

wow, that sounds almost like teamwork. And no worries on the delay. I'm just trying to communicate better, as we discussed..

Robo and Forzare combine efforts to pull the aircraft back together. Imagine begins to snatch falling tourists and businessmen out of the air.

Imagine feels the delicate caress of some sort of foreign mental contact, while the substantial members of the team are lit up by radar, ladar, and...something else.

The plane comes out of it's spiral and levels out, still descending, but in a more controlled fashion.

If Robo can restructure the wing and fuselage and Forzare can manage a water landing, and Imagine can gather the strays, you can get the plane into the water in a controlled fashion. This will take five more rounds and be rough on the passengers, but they will make it. I'm thinking 30 seconds is a small amount of time for a military response, so I can wait that long to get anything done.

Imagine stays busy trying to capture every falling piece of biological debris. With about 40 people/bodies to find, it's quite a task. Where a Security member is close, she'll maneuver the falling person to where they can be grabbed, and if one is not close...she just tosses the person up in the air, to buy herself more time. Every second they go up is two extra seconds she has to save them. It's not unlike that a game of Tapper, except the people are propelled by gravity, and the drinks she's handing out are life-seconds.

Once a Security member has both hands full of saved person, she'll notify Sinter to teleport them up. The people get dropped (literally) and the Lex-Sec member gets teleported back into the air to continue his dire duty.

Once she senses the scan, she sends out a group thought-wave. [to group:]"Guys! Not to be alarmist, but we just got scanned. As in, all us of got scanned by, um, everything. Like, I think that that boat that shot at this plane is about to shoot at it again.

Shale! Shale! Shale! Hey, Shale! Forzare and Captain Robo have the plane under control. Please go and do something violent, or at least really distracting, or at least mildly irritating, to that boat 26 miles away so it doesn't shoot at the plane again. We're having a hard enough time keeping it aloft with one hole in it. Two holes in it would be downright inconvenient."

Shale is in bot mode for a long weekend, I believe.

Imagine, stop. You don't understand how these things..."

WATCHTOWER AUTOMATED WARNING says, "WARNING, WATCHTOWER TELEPORTER TUBES SYSTEM OVERLOAD."

"Imagine, if you had bothered to read the briefing, you would understand the many reasons we don't use the teleportation system for commercial applications. One of them is that it is a huge power drain. The other is that it is not 100% accurate or reliable"

Rather than being teleported to the Watchtower, one of the civilian/LexSec pairs is sent straight down into the sea about 300 feet underwater.

Kara loops around and grabs a passenger that was falling particularly fast while responding to VICTOR. "Oh confound! I'm sorry, I didn't know that we were working with half-functioning equipment powered by two hamsters in a rusty wheel! How about you guys spend some actual money and get a LexCorp NucPower generator installed, huh? Then you can turn on the lights on AND run the microwave at the same time! Also, we might be able to, like, save some lives around here! Ugh!"

She stares down and....realizes there's not a damn thing she can do. She stays in the air and concentrates on helping the living.

Corporal Jack Powers was surprised, to say the least, when he expected to be on the well-lit and steel-hard floor of the orbiting satellite, and instead appeared in the watery dark of the ocean. A quick check of his HUD's GPS told him he was still in the general theater of operations, but much lower down than he'd rather.

His suit pressurized (Immunity to vacuum) and he looked down at his two charges. He activated his exterior lights and sighed. From the looks of things they were pretty near the blast site. One was missing his right arm and most of his torso, the other only had one leg remaining and only half a face. Neither would've had an open casket anyway.

He tried to fly up, but the resistance of the two corpses meant he'd be getting back in about two weeks.
He hovered to maintain his depth and checked the man's pockets. He took his wallet, pulled his vibroknife and cut off the finger with his wedding ring, and let the corpse fall. Finding no ID on the other body, he just cut off a big toe and it too began a downward descent into the locker owned by Davy Jones.

AS he's engaged in his grim work, he notices a menacing Submerged vehicle. 'I hope that's friendly,' he thinks. He makes a mental note to report it once he gets to the surface.

Cpl. Powers placed the two bits of remains in an ammo pouch and started flying up.

'Sorry, Kara. Those two didn't make it.'

I'm going to activate Shale's complication: Shale will have an extremely hard time any time innocents are in danger, and would likely be unwilling to allow himself to abandon such bystanders at any time. They will always be his top priority.

This will provide a motivation for him to ignore Imagine's request as he helps with civilian catching, even though Imagine and her team could probably manage.

Handwaving some time here to keep things moving.

Forzare clings to the top of the fuselage, guiding the craft roughly toward the water below. As the plane nears the water, he levels off before skipping across the water. Robo's constructs manage to keep fill the gaps and keep the plane mostly waterproof. At least it doesn't begin to sink immediately.

Imagine manages to find enough life preservers from the ejected seats, though the raft near the over wing door was destroyed.

By the time the plane hits the water, an American destroyer is moving toward the wreckage.

Monitoring comm traffic, Sinter hears the North Rheelasian forces receiving orders to fire upon the Foreign Super Terrorists. There is also a recommendation to "Activate Leviathan Protocol."

American, Japanese, and South Rheelasian forces are receiving orders not to fire unless fired upon. Some of the commanders are complaining that their men are in danger and arguing for a scaled response.

Taking some liberties here. Trying to follow through on your stated actions without dragging out a plane falling for 10-30 rounds. Add anything you want to those descriptions, take a round of actions, and then I'll escalate.

Sinter immediately gets on the com "I think the North Rheelasians are going hostile. Expect incoming fire from their units, and there might be something else. I'm coming down. "

then to VICTOR "Can you beam me down there or do I need to fly it?"

Even at his speeds geosynchronous to surface would be a while.

"Teleporters are still off-line. Fortunately, we do have a massive cannon designed to fire plasma at high velocities, into space or at Earthbound targets. And you are composed of plasma..."

Imagine replies, "Something else? WTF does that mean? Are we gonna have a troop of girl scouts fly by in their jump packs and sell us cookies? Is there some bizzaro evil Superman clone on the way? Are you finally coming out of the closet? (Which is totally cool, by the way. Dave in marketing just broke up with his boyfriend. I could totes set you guys up.)
Can you be any more specific at all??"

Does Sinter actually use the word "Leviathan"?

edit: Awwww.

Toughness +20, Fort +10, Ref +3, Will +3, Notice +4, Defense +4

Sinter doesn't understand the word Leviathan.

Forzare uses his telekinetic bonds to "stitch" the plane together as best he can, to avoid water coming in.

"Robo! How long do you think it would take you to patch up these holes? At least enough that the plane can float for a little while? I have a feeling thing are going to get hot in a second!"

"We've got trouble right below us and I can't risk losing anyone else. I'm getting these people out of here."

Craft Mechanical: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (16) + 20 = 36

In mere seconds, nanites swarm about, forming a highly reflective metal aircraft half the size of the plane. A large gangplank slinks out of the vehicle and comes right up to the side of the airplane.

Captain Robo rips off the emergency exit door. "Stay calm! The Justice League is here. Make a single file line and exit quickly into the adjacent aircraft. Once in, take a seat and buckle up!" Understood by all

Once everyone's moved over, he'll escort the vehicle out to safety (South Rheelasia or Japan if possible).
Forgot that Robo has Tech/Machinery Detect 2, so that submarine probably popped up on his radar.

"The plasma cannons on the station use high powered lasers to superheat projectiles into a high density plasma. The plasma is then magnetically accelerated through twenty miles of tubing before being launched at high speeds. We will simply "fire a blank," not loading ammunition and letting you take the place of the plasma. Your high resistance to damage should protect you through the process."

This will take 2 rounds to pull off. You would need to make two saves vs a PL 12 DC 27 blast, but that can't hurt you.

I'm gonna help Robo out a little and say that he is smart enough to include a moving sidewalk sort of thing so the broken people don't have to walk. He has a 20 Int, just to speed things up. Best case scenario for evacuating a plane like this in the real world is about 78 seconds, apparently, but I think we can get it down.

Shale swoops in and loads people onto the people mover, stabilizing broken bones as much as possible. Through the combination of helpful nanites and Speed Force assisted evacuation, the survivors are loaded onto the ship just as a plasma projectile slams into the ocean about a mile away, sending a jet of steam a thousand feet into the sky.

"Incoming, Leaguers. Don't be alarmed by the Watchtower firing on you. It's just a Special Delivery." say VICTOR over the comm

Seeing a team of heroes interfering with their intentions, the North Rheelasian army decides to get serious. The Rheelasian vessel fires a volley of surface to air missiles in the direction of the fallen plane, and two surface skimming anti-ship missiles in the direction of the U.S. Destroyer, which about 2 miles from you.

The SAM's will require two rounds to travel, arriving on my action at the beginning of the third round. The larger, slower anti-ship missiles are will require four rounds and arrive on the beginning of my action in the fifth round. I'll post a countdown.

At the same time, a new player enters the fray, rising up from below. A mound of water is pushed up as the ship sized threat attacks the U.S. Destroyer, USS Labon. The monster robot? vessel? kaiju?, whatever it is, must have been deep to avoid detection. The Sea here is about 7000 feet deep.

attack on USS Labon: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24

Labon toughness save: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (9) + 15 = 24 Failure by 10 or more.
A “disabled” object is badly damaged. Disabled equipment and devices no longer function, while disabled barriers have holes punched through them, and other disabled objects may be bent,
deformed, or otherwise damaged.

The whatever it is drives an immense appendage into the deck of the vessel and then the tip of the appendage blasts a laser down into the interior. The vessel loses power almost immediately, and lasers burst from the interior of the hull in several places.

New Round:

Forzare hops in the water and forms some tubes with his telekinesis, shoving balls of force out at high velocity to send his forcefield "boat" skipping across the water at fairly impressive speeds for a non-speedster.

Hovering high above the carnage, she answers as if she's declining another scone. "Neg. If that is what I think it is, nothing you have can even scratch its paint. We've done all we can do here. But gimme a projected flight path for those missiles. We can probs stop them."

The eleven figures start gaining altitude, putting themselves relatively close to where the missiles are going to come from.

*corp speak for 'mercenary work'.

Jeanine replies quickly, 'Not in control of the asset, on lease to NR. USA can't purchase without being seen as act of escalation. NR deployment gives them reason to acquire as deterrent and defense. Also chance to debug. Stay safe. BTW, control console on NR ship. Heavily defended.'

"Been working on something that may let me keep up with you guys. Fingers crossed I don't tear myself apart."

Forzare kicks on the afterburners to his "skimmer", firing off more balls from more tubes at insane speeds.

It takes him much less than a second to close the two mile distance, and slam himself into the giant robot.

Attack: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (5) + 16 = 21

So it takes damage as from a Rank 12 Strike (DC 27 Toughness) and then needs to oppose that 21 Trip attempt without any of its size modifiers. If it fails, it is knocked Prone and launched backwards by Knockback.

Toughness: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (7) + 26 = 33

Forzare Trip Opposed: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (3) + 16 = 19

Trip Resist: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (1) + 16 = 17

I think this is the way this should work. Forzare has to make an attack roll and an opposed strength check that is opposed by opponent strength or dexterity.I'm using strength and no size bonus. The knockback is rank 12 vs half Leviathan's toughness and impervious is not halved, so it is too sturdy to knockback.

Forzare slams into Leviathan, driving the construct's body into the air before it's arms stabilize it, grasping the destroyer wreckage. Reeling from the blow, it topples into the water, but does not relax it's grasp on the ship.

The particle beam continues to blaze into Sinter.

Is Impervious ignored since the Strike portion is Penetrating?

Yes, in the case of your power. I was just noting that for myself for the future.

After a rather expeditious trip to Japan to safely drop off passengers, Captain Robo returns in a golden blaze.
He holds his right hand out and shoots a steady stream of nanites towards the leviathan. A picosecond to dial in the mechanic monstrosity's design, and he forcefully closes his fist.
DC 22 Craft Mechanical Check: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (4) + 20 = 24
Disassembler (Disintegration 12): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30

If successful, the nanites will pull apart every mechanical piece of the leviathan and leave it hovering, disassembled, in place.

Toughness: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (17) + 14 = 31

The nanites swarm beneath the armored surface of the Leviathan, loosening connections. The monster's armor floats away from its structure, opening several gaps in the armor.

The rules here are really bugging me. Disintegration says that I make a fortitude save or reduce toughness by the disintegrate rank. Objects and things without a Constitution score automatically fail this save. And then make a Toughness save with the new reduced toughness against Damage. So what happens when a construct is immune to Fort saves, which most of them should be. By RAW, it seems like the construct is immune, but it also seems like the power is specifically designed to affect it. Thoughts?

Imagine or Shudder?

The particle beam continues to track Sinter across the sky, pumping more energy into his energy form.

Particle beam: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17 DC 32 Toughness save for Sinter.

At the same time, the manta ship catches up with Forzare and Robo. A hatch opens on the roof of the sub, where the head of a ray would be, and a squad of black and red clad Manta Warriors spill out.

Black Manta (or Devil Ray in DCA)

Black Manta is wielding a black high tech looking trident.

Manta Men

Black Manta flies into the air. He isn't wearing any sort of jet boots or jet pack, so it is unclear how.

He swings the trident across the sky, taking in both Forzare and Robo, and a wave or arc of electricity flies from the tip of the trident.

Black Manta attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17

If that hits, DC 27 Penetrating 12 toughness save and linked DC 22 Fort save or slowed.

You can reduce a target’s speed and reaction time. Make an attack
roll, if successful, the target makes a Will saving throw. If the save
fails, the target is slowed and can only take a standard or move
action each round (not both). The target takes a –1 penalty on
attack rolls, Defense, and Reflex saves. A slowed target moves at
half normal speed. If the save fails by 5 or more, or on a second
successful attack, the target is paralyzed: helpless and unable to
move or take any actions. The target gets a new Will save each
round to overcome the effect, with a +1 bonus per previous save.

The Manta Men have noticeable jet boots, and they jet toward the massive robot.

Yeah, that hits with 7 to spare.

Toughness: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28
Fort: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31

Forzare's forcefield holds against Manta's blast, though barely.

"Okay, new plan, screw the giant robot, GET HIM. If that electricity can almost burn through my field it can probably chop the ship in two!"

Toughness +20, Fort +10, Ref +3, Will +3, Notice +4, Defense +4

toughness: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (19) + 20 = 39

deciding that this beam has the potential to actually do something to him, he flies down to the ship, placing the bulk of it between himself and the projector, so it can either shoot itself or shut off.

He then (if possible) takes a shot at Black Manta.

Oh.... Hmmm. I completely missed that. I should've probably changed the fort save to a reflex save. I guess disintegrate was meant mainly for organic beings and objects?

I've been jumping between too many different games IRL and I feel I may be missing something. Black Manta attacks for 17 against Robo and Forzare's defense. Robo's is +12, which becomes 22? And Forzare's is +10, which becomes 20?
