Male Warrior-Bard of Old; Herald of Brigid Stress: P: OOOO M:OOOO S:OOO; Fate Points: 3;

Kenneth curses as the ghoul ignores his shout and grabs the girl. I should hae shielded her! he thinks, guilt and memories of those who
he couldn't save washing over him.

Nae! Not again! Not another! Nae!, he thinks, the feeling of failure and helplessness burning away as his rage builds. Already white-hot with anger, he reaches deep into his soul, finding the small flicker of the Flame of Kildare burning inside him, and ripping open the floodgate, the holy flames filling his mind and removing all thoughts save one.

"Nae! NAE! Mòr-Saighead! Saighead-Tomadach!", he shouts, giving voice to his thoughts as and anger, forging a volley of fiery arrows and hurling them at the escaping ghoul.

DSX: I think I'm self-compelling on BET YOU CAN'T SAVE JUST ONE... and/or BURNS WITH RIGHTEOUS FURY

Using the Flames of the Forge, 7 shifts of power is 4 Mental Stress. (4 base, +3)

Discipline (to control the spell): 4 + 4d3 - 8 ⇒ 4 + (1, 2, 2, 2) - 8 = 3
Tagging Scene Aspect (free, first time): FLAMING GOOD TIME for +2
Short 2, taking physical backlash to prevent it -- trading for a mild physical consequence: SPLITTING HEADACHE
So, 5 shifts on the attack, Weapon: 7 fire spell

Kenneth keeps shouting as the flaming missiles fly, giving voice to his fury and desperation, not even noticing the blood and pain as he channels his goddess' power at the fleeing ghoul. The volley stops and he staggers, the red haze of fury being replaced by the reddish tint of his own blood in his eyes, trying to make ready to catch the girl and hoping that the ghoul will drop her.

Firstly, Kenneth yes, have a Fate Point for the Self-Compel. Secondly this might be a bit out of initiative order but is more dramatic...

The ghoul bounds up over the bleachers, each stride further than a mortal could. Legs springing, it leaps onto the wall clawed feet and it's free hand stab into the bricks crumbling it like hatd cheese. Mortar peppers the floor as it creates it's own hand-holds, climbing the surface like a chameleon.

Danny's seeming, rings out on the chords of the Shamisen, the wall appears to stretch before the creature as it accends higher up the surface towards the clerestory.

Defense (Deceit) Vs 7 4d3 - 8 + 2 ⇒ (2, 1, 2, 1) - 8 + 2 = 0 - To break Danny's Block (preventing him from moving next turn)
Defense (Fists) Vs 7 4d3 - 8 + 4 ⇒ (2, 1, 3, 3) - 8 + 4 = 5 - To place an Off-Balance Aspect upon Ghoul:2

The ghouls becomes obvious as it loses it's one hand hold on the wall, it tries to catch it's balance then a volley of flaming arrows smash into it's torso in a focused white-hot ball of fury. Fury at those he could not help, his loves. Despite his emotion Kenneth's bolts of Brigid's fire make sure to avoid the girl who calmly wide eyed watches them hit the monster.

Defense (Athletics) Vs 5 + 2 as Kenneth would tag the Off-Balance Aspect removing it. 4d3 - 8 + 4 ⇒ (2, 2, 1, 2) - 8 + 4 = 3 - 7 - 3 + 7 -1 = 10 the creature takes a Major Consequence: Paralysed & 4 shifts

The furious focus of flames, ferociously burn through the ghoul revealing the white of it's spine. The monsters hand goes limp as it cannot move further, it screams a last time as it starts to plummet like a comet to the floor. Releasing it's grip upon Alicia as she is thrown clear... tumbling silently to the floor.

...

Then she slows down and stops gently floating in the air. There is a heavy shimmering near a window, along with the light groans of exertion.

Out of Combat - the final Ghoul (1) is KO'd or killed as required.

The hall is lit by the flickering flames and flashing blue lights from outside, the lights having being burnt out at some point with all the magic being thrown about the room. Charred flesh smell mixes with the spiced food and the dull roar of the isolated patches.

A young lady with a fire extinguisher spreads the white powder on stopping and reducing the encroaching burning. She calls out; "York Police, everybody if you would care to stay here. I have called for some back-up."

Miss Lauren moves amongst the injured people on this storey; tending to the wounded. Water then starts spraying from the ceiling as the fire control system finally kicks in. She calls out; "Everybody alright?"

Hrm... That's the sound of the cavalry, then. Must mean the Armored Bastard and that blasted sword of his is gone. That means I can scream now. Grillan thought, under his shell of rubble. He'd bitten through his lower lip trying to keep quiet, so giving in to the impulse was a great relief, as he tried to maneuver the rubble off him.

Except that he found he couldn't. His unbroken arm was trapped at an awkward angle, and the leverage he needed to push the rubble away didn't exist."Help." he called out, hoping others would hear.

I see why the Djinn go insane in their bottles, now...

Danny's eyes go from determined, to gleeful at the sight of the flaming bolts tearing into the ghoul, to panicked as the girl falls, to relieved as she is caught in midair by,... someone?

He starts to toss the Shamisen aside, then changes his mind and sets it down carefully, almost reverently. He immediately turns to the girls, asking if they're alright, looking them over for injuries. (Not that he needs an excuse for looking at them, usually.)

Danny mutters apologies for not getting them out of there at the first sign of trouble. "I know I'm an easy target. I just get so tired of always being the one picked on, that jerk was,... sorry."

The girls murmur something conciliatory, then take turns whacking him on the side of his head. "Now DON'T do it again!" They say in unison. Then hug each other and Danny in giddy, adrenaline-fueled relief.

'Huh. Women are crazy. At least the forgiving part is nice!' Danny keeps to himself. He extricates himself from the girls (Not entirely willingly) and starts to head over to check on the little girl, but sees that Ken and some others already have the child well in hand. He sees Axe heading towards him with a serious look on his face. (Which isn't any different from the one he usually wears. But usually he's not staring at Danny with it!) Danny sighs and prepares himself for receiving a (well-deserved) speech on protecting others and putting the needs of the innocent above yourself,... when he hears a faint cry.

Curious, he follows it, and ends up by the collapsed section of floor.

"No way." He mutters, looking into the pile of rubble that was once a dance floor.

"You alright in there? HAng on! Help is coming!" Danny calls down.

NICE work guys! Luv the writing!

Axe picks up Jericho if he is unconcious and anything he was carrying

Danny, I dont want to be here with these coppers on the scene, can you hide us and get us out of here, Lady Min and Lady Lin, I suggest we leave post haste. You drive Dano, I will see what I can do for some first aide for this guy, and if you dont mind; get a table cloth, we need some bandages

anyone know anyone who could help this guy, I got some first aide skills, but he needs a medic

Axe sighs, Danny, the Authorities are here, they can help these guys better than us, so of lead, follow or get the hell out of the way; the third option seems best, yeah, in the Mediteranian, I could probably lift some of these things, but not here

Trip will head over to Grillan to make sure he's still alive and dig him out of the rubble.

Yelling out to Aximeus, "Aximeus how's my nephew doing, alive I hope. If he needs medical attention leave him here. Danny get those girls to my estate, it's probably the safest place for them right now. Kenneth, Aximeus, Jack head to the estate so we can figure out what's going on."

Kenneth grabs a napkin to wipe his face and starts to Laura, I told the lassie I'd be back in a --, the thought cut-off by her declaration. Aye, a bobby, a'course. Lady Brigid, ye have a wicked, stout sense of humour.

He approaches her with a smile, "I cannae say I'm all right, but I will be." He reaches forward, brushes some of the white powder from her face and says, "Sadly, as much as I may like the idea of ye playing nurse and tending to me, I fear it will have tae bide for later. 'Twould appear we each hae jobs tae do." He steals a quick kiss while she's off-guard, adding in a soft voice, "Ach, I'm feeling better already."

He steps back and says, "I main admit, I was hoping to wish ye good morn in the morrow, but instead, seems I must wish ye a good cheerio t'now."

He rushes over to Axe and Danny, "Looks like we're in this one together, lads.", then snaps his head up at the command in Trip's voice. He says in a low tone to the group around him, "Well, now, I dinnae recall putting the old man in charge.... an' we have another issue: what of the wee floating lassie? We need tae protect her until we find out what they want with her."

Kenneth's mind races as the sprinkler water washes over him, the coldness cutting through the pain and clearing his mind. He shakes his head and takes notice of Danny, Aye, that may work.

He turns to Min and Lin, "What say ye, ladies? Can ye spare Danny-boy and his charms for the good of the wee lassie? Axe and I will escort ye out, and Danny'll be right behind with the bairn...?"

When the girls nod at his idea, Kenneth smiles at them, then shouts back to Trip, "Aye! Dig out the dragon, an' we'll meet ye there."

Meh, it's dead if you want it. I just thought that it was a bit more dramatic finishing combat like that rather than waiting for someone to do 1 stress to the ghoul you killed.

Yes, I was going for a Teachers, Series 1 feel to Laura. By the way she is completely different to Miss Lauren; the Vice-Chancellor - who will reveal her first name soon. ;)

Alicia falls to the ground with a little thump as the water disrupts the magicks keeping her aloft. A quiet pensive visage, seems to be in slight shock as she looks up at Danny.

Laura is shocked as Kenneth steals a kiss, but pleased. She then lets a small burst off from the extinguisher, blowing up his kilt in a small cloud of powder. "Call me, or I'll find out where you live." she jokes handing over a scrap of paper with her number.

The shimmering fades as the water washes over cutting holes in the veil. Behind stands a tall muscular blond man with a mousey librarian in his arms, the strain on his face evident but not a physical strain.

The Vice-chancellor is busy, tending to the injured, moving around organising people. Seemingly born to management, a Florence Nightingale, she moves through the disaster with calm demeanour and a light quip putting the injured at ease. She turns to "Trip" and gently brushes his lapel saying; "Sorry our dance was interrupted, my fault, we should do it again. This time without the violence, keep the passion though. You can call me Soph;" she smiles derisively. "yes, my father was a big film fan."

Becca the vampire gives the group a salute, dropping the dead and drained triad. "Great working with you buggers. Doing good is fulfilling." she says patting her stomach. Turning she starts to leave.

While the invisible catcher gently lowers the child to the floor, Danny rubbernecks, trying to piece together just who is who. He frowns worriedly, glancing at the girls.

"Yeah, I can hide us all and get us out, ... but,..." He looks at the twins.

"I don't know which worries me more, facing your dad when he hears about all of this, (If he hasn't already), or facing him after not seeing you girls home after all of this!" He smirks.

The ladies both glance over their shoulders at the sirens and flashing lights. They both sigh in a combination wonton/much set upon manner.

"Dad will understand. Eventually. We'll call when he's calmed down." Says Lin, pouting prettily.

"The usual story I suppose?" Asks Min, arching an eyebrow.

Danny grins the grin that has gotten him into, and out of, so much trouble.

"Yep! Your both blond on the inside, and didn't see nothin'!" He smiles.

"Once your dad gets here, that usually puts an end to the questions. For you two anyway." he adds wryly.

"Axe, you stay with the girls until their father gets here. You're the bodyguard. I'll call you with directions to the house. If he asks, (And he will!) I escorted some injured party-goers to go get medical attention. That's the truth." He barely holds back a grin, knowing that Axe will only speak the truth anyway.

"You girls are the best, see you soon. I hope!" He grins as he hugs the twins again.

Th twins hug him back.
"Danny, you really need to work on how to show a lady a good time." Min pretends to glower at him.

"But it's never boring!" Lin adds. They each hook one of Aximeus' arms and allow him to lead them outside.

Danny shakes his head. "Those two are gonna be the death of me." He murmurs with a smirk. "But whatta way to go!"

"Thanks." Danny murmurs with a nod to the muscular man and teh mousy woman are now revealed. He makes sure that Ken and Jericho and the others have the young girl in hand. He frowns worriedly at her meek acceptance of the situation. (Well, it's better than her having a screaming fit, but it's unnerving as heck!)

He sees that the rest have almost dug out the 'Dragon' from his resting place. "We have to get out of this running water. Or I won't be able to hide a chopstick!: Danny mutters, waving for the others to head to the door.

Once out of the direct deluge of the sprinklers, He takes a deep breath and starts singing softly.

Performance/Deceit:4d3 - 8 + 4 ⇒ (2, 1, 3, 2) - 8 + 4 = 4

That should do to get us out during the first initial moments of the authorities getting here and getting into place. :)

Danny Veils the group with a soft lullaby, making the ones running around in excitement outside just glance over them. Not hiding them so much as just causing their eyes to pass over them as not important at the moment. Slowly the wounded group makes its way past the perimeter, and around the corner. Danny releases his Veil with a wince, rubbing at his forehead.

The fire in the auditorium slowly rescinds, a perimeter is set up outside and paramedics slowly move to treat the wounded.

Warden Letitia looks hard at Danny; "I am going with you." she says sheathing her used blade as it fades away against her torn dress.

Laura the police woman winks at Kenneth as he disappears. A suited man, a police inspector approaches her. Officer Ramsbottom, of the Order of St. John, is in charge of the investigation and starts talking to Laura about the debrief.

Freed from the rubble, Grillan manages to stand and look about, eyeing the hole in the dance floor for a long moment. If we were across the pond, I'd have to sue them over this.... The running water had been sufficient to ground out the talisman's power, and despite the bad shape of his suit, he forced himself to stand straight as he left under Danny's veil.

I hope there were no cellphone cameras...

As he sees the shimmer stop he says, "Before we head to the manor, can we make a quick stop? I need to pick up something rather important. Won't take a minute."

Letitia nods "Feel free" as she drags Jericho outside. She looks around at a husky with pale blue eyes staring at the group. "I have a car if needed?" the warden offers.

"OK, Tell your dad we were doing the noble, help-the-injured routine."

"At least he won't be able to accuse you of lying." He adds wryly.

"Call and let me know your safe!" He admonishes the girls as they dash over to meet the incoming authorities. He shakes his head. "I think Axe drives. Usually." Danny volunteers, looking back around the corner. The front of the building is now all but hidden by the combination of police cars, emergency vehicles and bright flashing lights pulsing in the night. They almost keep up with the beating of his heart. Putting down the breastplate and large sword he pulls out his cell.

"Give me the address. When Axe gets free we can join you." And give any stragglers a ride too. I guess." He looks around.

"What? Oh right, you lot don't get to use cell phones much do you? It's just an Iphone. I can't afford unlimited data, but I've got plenty for emergencies, like googling directions. What's the address?"

Outside the building the emergency services are working hard, areas cordened off. The police, lead by Inspector Ramsbottom and his partner WPC Laura Robson question people, she steers him away from your group. The tall Swede is nowhere to be seen. Cerulean lights flash in the sky, like a morbid concert. A few body-bags (mostly of ghouls you suspect), are taken away in ambulances. Soph, does her university duties seeming walking all around talking and organising, liasing with the police.

The grey-skirted warden smiles at Danny; "Alright I'll bring my car around. We'll go to the gentleman's house and meet you there." She comes back with a black BMW S-class.

The group splits as the first car drives off, stopping where Kenneth wants. Car 1 - Grillian, Trip, Alicia, Jericho, Kenneth . Car 2 - Aximeus, Letitia, Danny (& Jack?). I think that's it?

It only takes a few minutes until the twins limo arrives, a black car with tinted windows and a chaffeur at the wheel. The girls nods at him and move towards the back as they usually do, however the driver gets out and opens the door. They smile and thanking him start to get in, however an older grim gentleman gets out. "Dad, what you doing here?" they exclaim in unison.

The mahogany skinned gentleman, assesses his daughters and brushes his slicked back hair, black with a touch of distinguished white at the temple. His face creases slightly; then he speaks in a heavy accent. "Girls, car now." they dutifully get in as he approaches Aximeus. As the pair duck into the car in harmony they stick there tongues out comically at Danny.

Their father looks carefully at the greek warrior; his smile looking menacing due to a long scar running from his upper lip to the outer corner of his eye. "Thank you, you have looked after my daughters. You done duty, I thank you."

Kenneth provides directions to his flat from the backseat, rubbing his temples as he does so. "Willnae be but a minute," he says as they arrive, running through the stone archway behind his building. He draws the heavy iron key from his sporran, and unlock and opens the heavy cellar door. He follows the four steps down, the cold air of the cellar battling with the warmth and protection of the threshold of the shrine as he passes the small standing stones he'd set up.

He walks forward to a dusty pile of assorted garden tools, removing a shovel, a pile of broken terra cotta and a tarp which cover the small altarstone on the worktable. He touches the stone with a sigh, feeling the warmth and resonance of the tiny sliver of the Flame within him with that of his goddess, and then shakes his head. Business, lad, waits for no man.. Confident that nothing's been disturbed, he reaches under the table, shifting another pile of discarded tools and a sack of peat until his hand closes on the claybeg he'd hidden there, Now, I dinnae need tae fight naked.

He replaces the random tools, tarps and returns the shrine to looking like a poorl-organized basement, catching sight of himself in the dust-covered mirror across the room as he works. Ach, I dinnae ken what looks worse, me or the tuxedo. He chuckles for a moment at the thought and does his best to straighten his damaged, blood-soaked jacket before strapping on the swordbelt, closing and locking the heavy door, and running back to the car.

He opens the door and announces, "Noo, I be ready tae face whatever it is we've gotten ourselves intae."

It was my honor to excort them sir, as duty required. There were three with particular markings; two of which still lay inside.

Axe will give a short bow and then move to join the others in Car 2

To Aximeus' statement the crime-lord raises an eyebrow, quizzically. A cool customer, he doesn't seem fazed by the announcement maybe trusting in the warriors skills.

He speaks again the low molasses voice; "Good, I not look at them . Leave it up-to the police. I interfere not in their business and they not in mine. Good arrangement." clenching his knuckles, they crackle like tin-foil and are smooth having been broken many times over.

His returning bow is just enough for courtesy, but the keeps his eyes raised watching the fighter. The depth showing a grudging respect but his interpretation of their status.

"You should be worried about yourself, Protector. Ghouls are nasty, I have seen what they can do, especially their 'priests'. Anyone who has taken high level English or History or entry level Art History would recognise that shield, in those cirlces it is famous; anyone in Law or such with Interpol access might have some info also or. Or, you could ask Axe

Male Ferromancer

"Well I had such an able Warden defending me." Korben said with a half-smile. "Is Alicia speaking yet? Or still doing the creepy silent girl vibe?" Jericho looks around the house nonchalantly. It's been awhile since I was in a place this nice. He thinks, remembering his fathers manor back in America. "I'm... mostly ok. And don't call me Warden Axe. I don't even qualify as a full Wizard for Council membership, much less a Warden like our friend here. And you know how I feel about your 'chosen by the gods' theory as well." Jericho had no truck with gods. Those that still kicked around were just overly powerful spirits, same as the Faerie Queens or High Demons.

well, no, Jericho is it, I meant know offense. I dont know much about this Council, but, have worked with a few wizards before; special ops; Cambodia, Korea, Viet Nam, China, North Afrika and some few times met up in places like Somalia and Chad. Back in the Big One, several Wizards where high up in M.I, so I got sent on bunch of mission while there were chaning some big time necromancer, lot o them Sturmtroopers were zombies. Personally I thought WWI was nastier, trench warfare, disease and chemical weapons, nasty business that. I can't say I know much about the gods, but they are involved big time on both sides as well as their elders from what I was told, what you might call Titans. They aint the only ones though, world is a pleanty creepy place when you find out most of your Grim's Faire tales and such are more than stories.

warden wasn't the only one defending you though, <shows the ghoul blood on his sword> This was from my negotiations with a ghoul thought you were fit ta eat and my opposing arguemnt

I aint been to England in a while, but these attacks; they seem ausspicous and themeatical like something growing on the horizon. Sometimes I get this idea I should head to Deplhi and find the Oracle, but I doubt the Sun Charioteer would smile on me.

Raising an curved eyebrow; 'Chosen of the Gods?!' She then faintly blushes at the praise from Jericho giving him an arch look; "Well your sword-play is not up to scratch but your evocation is adequate." Which you feel is high praise from her.

Pointing the the recumbant form of the girl sleeping heavily upon a chair. "She's doing well, the ghouls tried to grab her. And not just for food, else they would have killed her first. I have studied a few things about ghouls. But Dragons....no."

Danny, you have had some times to think about this stuff; any of this puzzle of activities coming together for you yet? If we shake a few more trees, some kind of pattern aught to fall out.

Pure Human Ex-SAS

"Axe as many wars you've been in I would say dammed by the gods not chosen."

"The Dragon said ‘Find the key and find him‘, can we assume that the girl is the key and if she is what does she open and who is the man they were looking for?"

"I can talk to the RAOB in the morning to see what they know. Other than that we reintroduce Kenneth to Detective Roseby and see if he can charm her into running the girl’s photo through Scotland Yard and see if we get any hits.”

Sorry, my 'Slow week/end' turned out to be NOT. ;P

Danny watches as the first group drives off, waiting for Axe to finish with the girls, come back and drive him and Jack to Mr stiff-upper-lips house. He glances around the corner to see what is taking the big guy so long, and gulps audibly.

'Wait, their DAD is here?!? Aw man, I knew I shoulda stayed with 'em! Or,... maybe not. He's touchy about me at the best of times. Me not being there might not be great, but he can't turn it into something bad either. I hope.'

Danny takes another glance. 'Huh, never seen him give anybody else anything more than a nod before. Wonder what that's all about?'

Danny watches the limo drive off. He's pretty sure that he's going to end up owing the girls. Again. He thinks that's not the most terrible of fates. He smirks to himself as Axe walks over,...

Soon they are bundled into Axe's car, following the directions on Danny's smartphone.

,....

Danny listens to the others talk. He's looking around, and seems to appreciate the house he finds himself in, (Although there might be a hint of the disdain for the wealthy sometimes demonstrated by artists and musicians. If so, it does not prevent him from accepting the proffered hospitality, or his seemingly genuine appreciation of the manor itself.) He frowns when Axe introduces him to the others. But it quickly hidden by his natural exuberance. Whatever his reluctance about being drug, yet again, feet-first into another 'spooky-side/Fae-weirdness' event, his desire to be in the spotlight soon takes over.

"Sorry Axe. At one point I went on a tear and read everything that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle ever wrote. But I'm no Sherlock Holmes. Someone's gonna have to lay out some clues for me before I can even pretend to try and figure out this jigsaw puzzle." He shrugs.

"You heard what the Dragon-man was yelling? 'Find the key and find him?' Did anyone get a look at him? I mean a good look? Did he point anyone at the party out? Or was he just sending the goons out to do the searching?"

"I can tell you one thing, his helpers were not 'top-of-their-class'. At least not the one I had to deal with. Strictly street-thugs looking for that easy score." Danny adds, just a little self-satisfied.

"So, what was he anyway? Do we know? Is he some kind of Mystical Iron Man? Or a Fae warrior? What? Let's start with what we know. MAybe we can figure it out from there."

Key, I dont know how a girl can be a key, but if this is another blood sacrifice thing, somebody is gonna get a sharp steel enema says Axe with a bit of heat.

Looks over at Jericho yea, maybe, my Aunt said the gods were selfish and vindictive as hell and beware of rainstorms and cemetaries and dont travel on air or water if you can help it.

anyone talked to this girl or know her; why she is some key; bloodline maybe or celestial conjunction of when she was born; odd bloodtype or parentage? that what it is in all the movies I seen
