Male Ferromancer

Looks right to me Ax, also DSX: Duana's sword is the same material or the collar thing?

Jericho almost laughs at Duana's skittishness, then wonders how he can feel the need to laugh in this. Must be my injuries. "They hurt, don't do it." He said, then gathered his concentration carefully, throwing his hand forward, filled with previously unnoticed slivers of iron made from a candlestick, which strike unerringly at each of the enemies in the basement. "Karane!"

Throwing a spell that will hit all enemies in the zone with a Weapon:1 attack.
Discipline:4d3 - 8 + 5 ⇒ (1, 3, 1, 3) - 8 + 5 = 5

Duana fails to withhold a sanguine laugh at the wizard's advice, and incensed by the ghost's ability to slough off her steel as though her efforts were simply shadow play darts forward and attacks him again.

Duana Weapons 4d3 - 8 + 4 ⇒ (2, 1, 1, 3) - 8 + 4 = 3

My arm is failing me, she recognizes as she slashes at the creature. What is this... weakness?

Danny fumbles for his guitar, his mind racing. As he drops the soft case he keeps it sleeved in, he is already singing the next tune before he gets his hands on the neck to form the chords.

With apologies and gratitude to Mr. Daniels. :)

Here's an interesting version i found; :)

"The necromancer went to York,
he was looking for souls to steal.
He was in a bind 'cos he was way behind
and he was willin' to make a deal."

"When a group of heroes butted in and started makin' it hot.
Then Henri jumped up on his high horse and said:
"Boys let me tell you what:
"I guess you didn't know it, but I'm a mighty magus too.
"And if you'd care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you.
"Now you sing a little magic pretty boy, but give the devil his due:
"I bet this magic box against your soul, 'cos I think I'm better than you."
The boy said: "My name's Danny and it might be a sin,
"But I'll take your bet, your gonna regret, 'cos I'm the best that's ever been!"

"Warriors prepare for battle and swing your weapons hard,
'Cos hells broke loose in York and the devil deals the cards.
And if you win you get this magic box made of gold.
But if you lose, the devil gets your soul."

"Then Henri raised up his staff and he said: 'I'll start this show.'
And fire flew from his fingertips as runes began to glow.
He kidnapped children and conjured undead servants that look like KISS,
Then a band of ghosts joined in and it sounded something like this."

<Danny plays a lick on his acoustic guitar. It sounds like an electric guitar being played by a chain saw.>

"When Henri finished, Danny said: "Well you're pretty good ol' son.
"But sit down in that chair, right there, and let me show you how its done!"

"Trouble at St Deny's!, run boys, run!
The devil's in the house of the risin' sun.
Ghosts in the basement, Cyril's gotta go.
Well don't just stand there,
Go Axe Go!"

<Danny plays another lick, this one sounds like a strange blend of Queen, David Bowie, and Madonna. With maybe a dash of Micheal Jackson.>

"Then Henri bowed his head because he knew that he'd been beat.
He laid that golden box on the ground at Danny's feet.
Danny said: "Henri just come on back if you ever want to try again.
cause I told you once, you son of a gun, I'm the best there's ever been!"

"And he played Trouble at St. Deny's, run boys, run!
The devil's in the house of the risin' sun.
Ghosts in the basement, Cyril's gotta go.
Well don't just stand there,
Go guys go!"

Performance: 4d3 - 8 + 4 ⇒ (2, 1, 3, 3) - 8 + 4 = 5

Danny's song refocuses his veil. He drags it off of the undead, causing the 'cage' to fade, and onto the group. Instead of trying to hide them, (which would make it difficult for them to see out of) he tries to add it TO them. The warriors all look larger, a little blurry around the edges, and they leave after images when they move. At times there seem to be two of each of them. It is almost impossible to tell Exactly where they are standing, or swinging.

Trying to protect the 'home team', I'm imagining it as a cross between a BLUR spell, and Mirror Image. :) Hoping you can add part (or all) of the str of the veil to their defense? (Or something, trying to make it harder for the things to hit them!) I will happily burn a Fate point if needed. This seems like one of those battles! :)

Evil GM

Aximeus: Nearly right;
Unfortunately the to hit roll is slightly separate, thus
Attack 7 - 5 (def) = 2 shift hit.
Then 2shift hit + Weapon:1 (shovel) - 2 Toughness = 1 physical Stress.

So your stress boxes should be [X] [] [] []

Jericho: No just the ghost's collar - which allows it to manifest in physical form and be controlled.

Aximeus' & Gabriels Attack

I'll get the defences and narrative up in a bit.

Evil GM

Apologies 'a bit' ended up a lot!

Danny focuses his energies making the group seem more....

...Aximeus looks like a classical Greek hero, from somewhere pure white light hits his armour and catches upon is Gladius as it deflects the shovel barely scraping his arm.
...A sheen of frost forms around Gabriels' blade as he holds off the Spirit that killed Tybalt, his Hungarian good looks emphasised with smoldering dark eyes.
...Duana moves with the exotic grace of a fencer, flowing around the chill form of the spirit. A smile showing her attitude to one that uses the cold against her a Princess of The Court of Winter.
...Jericho, strong and implacable as the steel and iron he wields. Disintegrating the candlestick a sea of iron flows across the room piercing muscle and shredding ectoplasm.
...Danny stands at the head of the stairs belting out a beautiful melody, a Rock God. His axe weeping as his fingers flow across the neck.
...Behind them all a Dark Hound watches.

The inhuman speed of the group fools even the fastest eye and though their inhuman opponents do not use natural senses even they have a difficult time stopping the assault.

The Zombies freed from the cage scream their defiance and start to move towards the blurred figures.

Cyril defense against Aximeus' Attack 4d3 - 8 + 5 ⇒ (2, 1, 2, 2) - 8 + 5 = 4 Takes 1 + weapon:3 = 4 shift!
Laurence Ghost defense against Duanas' Attack 4d3 - 8 + 2 ⇒ (2, 3, 2, 2) - 8 + 2 = 3 Thus 0= hit + weapon:2 - 1 (t) =1 shift.

Cyril defense against Jerichos' Attack 4d3 - 8 + 5 ⇒ (1, 1, 3, 3) - 8 + 5 = 5 Thus Cyril takes 1 shift.
Laurence Ghost defense against Jerichos' Attack 4d3 - 8 + 2 ⇒ (3, 2, 2, 3) - 8 + 2 = 4 Thus LG takes 2 - 2toughness = 0
Zombie 1 defense against Jerichos' Attack 4d3 - 8 + 2 ⇒ (1, 2, 3, 3) - 8 + 2 = 3 Thus Z1 takes 2 + 1 - 3(t) = 0shift
Zombie 2 defense against Jerichos' Attack 4d3 - 8 + 2 ⇒ (3, 1, 2, 1) - 8 + 2 = 1 Thus Z2 takes 4 + 1 - 3(t) = 3 shift.

The spirits are just whirling around the ivory box, trapped in the circle.

Gabriel, every bit the Winter Knight as a light frost glitters on his blade. The training and agility infused into his soul allow his movements to be fluid clean as he deflects the murderous ghosts attack with a shower of sparks. Turning the attack into a riposte he lunges at the spectre; the blade cuts into the flanked ghost.

'Monster' turn

Cyril his arm hanging limp at his side, short handled shovel in the other hand, sees that his last attack last none too successful against the Ancient Hero re-born. He pushes and ducks past him and tries to flee up the stairs into the church proper. Shoving past Danny the defiled, crippled and insane caretaker moves.

Cyril is trying to escape, pushing past you up the stairs.

The zombies slathering for flesh and finally being released from their prison their blood-lust goes out of control. I will tag that Aspect: Uncontrolled Blood-lust for a +2 They dive towards the Changeling princess, their eyes a dark pit of maggots and despair. Clawed fingers outstretch towards the elegant duelist, seeking flesh to consume.

Zombie 1 Attack (Claws) against Duana- 4d3 - 8 + 3 ⇒ (2, 3, 1, 3) - 8 + 3 = 4 Duana make either a Athelitics or Weapons or Fists Roll to Defend.

Zombie 2 Attack (Claws) against Duana- 4d3 - 8 + 3 ⇒ (1, 2, 2, 1) - 8 + 3 = 1 Duana make either a Athelitics or Weapons or Fists Roll to Defend.

Laurence howls his fury, at the chains of life still hanging from him and his treacherous business partner from his mortal life over a centuary ago. He wants more vengeance, furious his heavy hands try to strike at Gabriel.

Attack (Fists) - 4d3 - 8 + 2 ⇒ (1, 1, 1, 2) - 8 + 2 = -1 Gabriel make either a Weapons or Athletics Roll to Defend.

The spirits whirling around the Circle echo his howl and pulling upon the magic of the Nexus their screams are enough to drive a mortal to his knees or insane.

Mental Attack - 4d3 - 8 + 2 ⇒ (2, 3, 3, 2) - 8 + 2 = 4 EVERYONE make either a Conviction or Discipline Roll to Defend.

I might try and get real map together, but you will have to PM me you e-mails if you want it.

Discipline Defense: 4d3 - 8 + 3 ⇒ (2, 1, 3, 3) - 8 + 3 = 4

Whew, that was close! (Or do I have to BEAT it to take no 'dmg'? If so I will tap an aspect with a Fate point!) :)

Danny i sin rare form, and deftly dodges the homicidal Cyril as he charges, but as he tries to think how to keep the former caretaker contained, he is assaulted by the shriek,...

But he weaves the painful notes into his melody, dulling it's full effect upon him. (Although he's pretty sure he's going to have a ringing in his ears for a while.)

Okay, letsee if I get this right..
Duana Defense against Zed Attack 01 (Weapons) 4d3 - 8 + 4 ⇒ (2, 2, 2, 2) - 8 + 4 = 4 Defense against Zed Attack 02 (Weapons) 4d3 - 8 + 4 ⇒ (1, 2, 3, 1) - 8 + 4 = 3 what happens on a tie?

Duana Defense against Mental Attack (Discipline) 4d3 - 8 + 1 ⇒ (2, 2, 3, 3) - 8 + 1 = 3

Duana deftly dodges the Zed's attacks, parrying with her steel, but is forced to her knees by the howls of the undead.

Evil GM

Unfortunately for both of you, rolling equal for defence, means it hits. But at 0 shifts + weapon strength - toughness.

Thus, unless Danny spends a Fate Point. He will take a strength 1 mental attack. SO his mental stress track is: [X] [] [] [] -Not too bad at the moment.

Duana, will be Hit by the First Zombie- However Inhuman speed = +1 Athletics and Danny's Song = +1 to defense this round only; gives a defense of 6!
Duana, takes the mental hit = 2 shifts +1 weapon= 3 stress. [] [] [X] You can take a Minor Consequence to reduce this by 2, however it lasts until the end of the next scene.

EDIT You all have +1 defense from Danny's Song last round!! However it only gives physical protection, so you are still affected by the spirits as normal.

Everyones' Attack & Gabriels' defense.

Convic and disp are both 1; I am gonna want to use a fate point for bonus on my Warrior Code: Show no fear

second round attack
4d3 - 8 + 6 ⇒ (2, 1, 3, 2) - 8 + 6 = 6

Evil GM

So Aximeus you equal the total of the mental attack and take 1 mental stress. Thus the mental box is: [X] [] [].

Who are you attacking? Cyril is trying to flee past you. There are 2 zombies at the foot of the stairs & a corporeal-ish ghost fighting Gabriel/Duana.

Male Ferromancer

"NO!" Jericho yelled as Cyril attempted to flee by. "You die here! Killic!" Korben's gauntlet came flying off as a wicked spike, aiming at the off side where he had already injured Cyril.

Tagging Cyril's injury for a +2 on Killic:4d3 - 8 + 7 ⇒ (1, 3, 2, 3) - 8 + 7 = 8

Cyril attempts to flee past Jericho; to take his insanity to the morning streets. Jericho's spiked gauntlet catches him in the back as he moves past, it hits in the ribs. The 'man' slumps to the ground, blood on his lips he whispers "Thank you." to the mage.

who cast the spell? I would really like to attack whomever cast the spell; other wise a zombie since it seems Cyril is down; I wouldnt have let him or anyone past me.

The spell was cast by the spirits circling around the magic circle. Their wails seem to disrupt the mind and cause intense pain. Note: the mental damage is on a different track to the physical. Although both share the same set of consequences.

Aximeus sword smashes into the Zombie attacking Gabriel as he presses on down the stairs. Chunks of dead flesh fly as the ancient weapon stabs and rends the body.

Danny blinks in surprise as the transformed gauntlet flies past his nose to impale the fleeing Cyril. He blinks, hitting a discordant chord.

"Um,... nice shot?" He offers as Axe makes like his namesake and tears into another zombie on the stairwell with Gabriel.

Danny peeks down the stairs at the ghosts circling the box.

"I thought that circles were supposed to keep them in? Or was that out?" He murmurs as he shifts his fingers and leads into another minor, but hauntingly familiar chord progression,...

Oh come on, you can't tell me you didn't see this coming! :)
And here it is! Ghostbusters!

Ghostbusters!

If there's something strange
in your neighborhood
Who you gonna call? - Ghostbusters!
If there's something weird
and it don't look good
Who you gonna call? - Ghostbusters!

I ain't afraid of no ghost
I ain't afraid of no ghost

If you're seeing things
running through your head
Who can you call? - Ghostbusters!
An invisible man
sleeping in your bed
Oh, who can you call? - Ghostbusters!

I ain't afraid of no ghost
I ain't afraid of no ghost

Who you gonna call? - Ghostbusters!
If you're all alone
pick up the phone
and call - Ghostbusters!

I ain't afraid of no ghost
I hear it likes the girls
I ain't afraid of no ghost
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Who you gonna call? - Ghostbusters!
If you've had a dose
of a freaky ghost
You'd better call - Ghostbusters!

Let me tell you something
Bustin' makes me feel good

I ain't afraid of no ghost
I ain't afraid of no ghost

Don't get caught alone, oh nooo
Ghostbusters!
When it comes through your door
Unless you just want some more
I think you better call - Ghostbusters!
Ow!

Who you gonna call? - Ghostbusters!

As Danny sings, the top of his guitar begins to glow until it painfully bright to look at. During the instrumental licks, bright flashes strobe from the light in rays that strike at the ghosts and the zombies, causing them to recoil and giving the warriors time to strike at them again.

Performance: 4d3 - 8 + 4 ⇒ (2, 3, 2, 3) - 8 + 4 = 6
Also, going to free tap aspect 'Scared of the Light' for another +2, total of illusion is now 8. :)

Trying to 'stun', or make them cower, or delay them for a turn. I don't want them to scream again if I can help it!

Evil GM

The scream of the guitar halts the whirling of the spirits around the circle the now turn their misty faces towards the singer. Feeling the affont to their existanace; they radiant hatred at their captivity and being bound to this world. They must escape, be free, maybe if they destroy these they can be free. The strobing light, burns the spirits and their wordless scream is negative sound. better than their usual cacophony but the respite may be short lived.

Hm, what can Danny sing this turn? Hm,... Oh, yeah,... :)

Danny segues into a ballad, but as he sings he turns it more rock, until the air positively thrums. At times, it almost sounds like there is someone else singing with Danny, but nawww,....

with gratitude and apologies to 'Evil Dead-The Musical'
THIS clip was the only video of this song I can find, but there are MUCH better clips of the rest of the musical available!

(Danny)
[i]It’s time
To fulfill my purpose
In life
We are born with a destiny!
It’s time
To accept my calling
To go
On a ravenous undead-killing spree!
It’s time to finally take a stand
Fight to clean out this holy land
Stop talking trash
And kick some undead ass
It is time!

(Spooky voice)
Oh, it’s time, but not for what you think.

It’s time for you
heroes to die
It’s time for us
Zombies to rise
It’s time for you
To say goodbye
It’s time for
Oh it’s time
Ooo ooo ooo

(Danny)
It’s time
Time to hurt demon feelings
Inside
These here walls there can be only one
It’s time*
To increase demon bleeding
Tonight
You will die by the blade or the gun
Time
To harass
Time
To whoop some ass
Time to kill
Demons, en masse
Oh it’s time

(Spooky Voice)
Time to fight
Time to brawl
Time to kill
Time to maul
Kick you swear
In the balls
It’s time to-oo rip you to ta-atters
Time to-oo make your blood splatter
Through the shed
Join the evil dead
It is time

(Danny)
You know that I’m right
I’m not dying tonight
It’s a holiday
When I’m in despair
I adjust my hair
And make evil pay
At the edge of the night
There’s not a Deadite
I can’t handle

When danger calls
You must have the balls
Of an ox or a bear or any large mammal!

(Spooky Voice)
It’s time for you
Heroes to die

(Danny)
Is that so?!

(Spooky Voice)
It’s time for us
Zombies to rise

(Danny)
I sing no-o

(Spooky Voice)
It’s time for you
To say goodbye

(Danny)
Alright let’s go-o!
It’s time!!

As Danny starts to segue into another song, the spirits roil and wail again, but the power of his catchy dance tune stops their sound. This time it almost seems like their hoary beings fade slightly as the magical notes resonate with the circle.

Jericho notices the effort Danny is having against the ghosts, and more importantly that he isn't using his ghost dust. Some form of feyling? Magic through singing... how odd. Jericho recalls what he has heard about ghosts and tries to think of some way to help. "Their frequencies are mental, block it out using mental static, think of meaningless, pointless things and it'll help fight the creatures."

Had to look up if I could do this but I think I can do a Lore roll to place a freely taggable Aspect on the party that they can use to defend against the ghosts. It should take 3 successes for the aspect and 3 to make it scenewide.

Lore:4d3 - 8 + 4 ⇒ (1, 1, 3, 2) - 8 + 4 = 3
Just Barely! Placing aspect MENTAL STATIC on all allies, taggable to help defend against ghosts.

Evil GM

I'll give Duana until this time tomorrow, to post. As i'll be away from my pc tonight. Good work Jericho with the Aspect - therefore everyone, when/if the spirits do a scenewide mental attack you can tag the Aspect for a +2 to defence.

Evil GM

Duana and Gabriel act in concert leaving Lawrence the spirit to act upon Aximeus. Duana's feint positions the attack prefectly for Gabriel who scores a decisive hit upon it's rotting flesh. However, despite the sword biting deep the inhuman menace continues.

Attack (Gabriel) 4d3 - 8 + 5 ⇒ (2, 2, 3, 1) - 8 + 5 = 5
Attack (Duana) 4d3 - 8 + 4 ⇒ (2, 1, 3, 1) - 8 + 4 = 3
Defense Zombie 1 Vs Gabe4d3 - 8 + 3 ⇒ (3, 1, 3, 3) - 8 + 3 = 5
Defense Zombie 1 vs Duana 4d3 - 8 + 3 ⇒ (3, 3, 2, 3) - 8 + 3 = 6

The pair of Zombies seeing and experiencing how effective the tactic is bothe decide to try and chomp upon the Princess. Their talons rake at her, the dead flesh animating with the out-of-control magic from the Nexus of the basement.

Attack Zombie 1 Vs (Duana) 4d3 - 8 + 3 ⇒ (2, 2, 3, 1) - 8 + 3 = 3

Attack Zombie 2 Vs (Duana) 4d3 - 8 + 3 ⇒ (1, 1, 3, 1) - 8 + 3 = 1

Lawrence the tormented ghost of an Victorian businessman flicks his chains at Aximeus' face. The obvious ploy is to put him off balance on the old and creaking staircase - however if the strong and lithe man does not dodge carefully the chains could do alot of damage.

Attack Lawrence to put an Aspect on Aximeus 4d3 - 8 + 3 ⇒ (1, 1, 3, 2) - 8 + 3 = 2 - I'll have to check the Target to place this Aspect or if it's opposed.

The whirling spirits around the runic circle stop and in their rage and frustration at the enforced inaction by the changlings music. Suddenly they break up from the writhing mass, forming individual ghosts as they move. Like a stop motion film they fly up the stairs towards Jericho and Danny - an insane and pained look on their silently howling visages.

You're guys go! And remember that it the spirits that are now menacing Jericho and Danny actually attack you can tag Jericho's Aspect for a +2 defense.

[b] Aximeus shakes his head for focus from the mental trauma and attacks to send the create back to Hades[\b]
come ooooon dice

4d3 - 8 + 6 ⇒ (2, 1, 3, 1) - 8 + 6 = 5

Evil GM

Sorry, got busy yesterday.

The ghost tries to avoid the thrusting blow of the sword as Axe feints with his shield at the ghosts face. The swords slips easily into the ectoplasmic form and come out with a great rending slice. Ectoplasm is flung everywhere, sticking to Axe's armour until it will slowly evaporate.

Lawrence Defence 4d3 - 8 + 2 ⇒ (3, 2, 1, 2) - 8 + 2 = 2

So, 5 - 2 = 3 shifts + 3 (weapon) - 1 (toughness) = 6 stress.

Lawrences form becomes more incorporeal as he is nearly scattered to the winds.

Take 2 stress & medium consequence = Ragged
Ghost Laurence (Attack/3 - Def/2 Toughness:3(1 vs items)) [X] [X] [] [X] Minor: Disheartened
Medium: Ragged

Busy yes! First Full dress rehearsal tonight. Wish us luck. (So many tech troubles, so little time!) :)

Danny Blinks in surprise at the ghosts sudden rush. His eyes widen in fear as the spirits easily pass through what he had foolishly presumed to be a barrier holding them in place.

His fingers slip on the neck of his guitar, causing a discordant squeal that sounds a lot like a womanish scream of 'mother!'.

Danny grins maniacally at the ghost as he fumbles in his pocket.

"Oh my! Look at the time! Gotta run! You've been a great audience! Here holdthiswillya?!?" Danny cries as he tosses the bag of ghost dust in the face of his spectral opponent.

4d3 - 8 + 2 ⇒ (3, 1, 3, 1) - 8 + 2 = 2

Danny tosses the bag in the air slightly, reaches for it as if he was about to drop it, then tosses it a little higher. As it reaches the top of it's tiny arc he flips his guitar around and takes a two-handed grip on it's neck. As the bag begins to fall Danny gleefully cries "Batter up buttercup!" And smacks the bag with a resounding "TWANG" from his guitar. The discordant baseball bat breaks open the ziplock baggie, spreading the ghost dust into a small choking cloud of glittering particles.

I am tagging the Ghost Dust with 'Too Close to Miss' for another +2 to hit. Total to hit with Ghost Dust now +4 :)

Evil GM

The glittering particles hit the mass of spectral creatures; the wispy spectral forms coalese as the motes hit it. A fracture like glass across the surface of the ghosts as they touch it. The spirits becoming more real; Danny can smell the rotting breath - a damp feeling as they scream at him becoming real.

The spirits used to hold the ivory box in place, now have flesh and form...

Evil GM

...the spirits move towards Danny their fingers forming claws. Even as they wail in the pain of being pulled into the real world.

"Dude! get a Tic-Tac!" Danny suggests as he eyes the approaching spirits warily.

Somehow, he had hoped for something more,... spectacular from the so-called 'Ghost Dust'. Like the spirits being banished with a final banshee-like wail, or perhaps bursting into flames. Something. But he was pretty sure that becoming MORE real and growing Wolverine-worthy claws were NOT what he had hoped.

Evil GM

They reach forward towards the muscian, he can see the hollow-ness and loss in their eyes. Slowly the fractures grow across their skin and forms; the ectoplasm slews from them like a pealing snake out-growing it's hide.

The cracks grow and through them you can see light on the other side. As they start to whirl and interact, a rasping sound like sandpaper across old wood echoes in the dank crypt. One of the spirits, a young boy of 10 - dressed n Georgian garb, looks into Jericho's eyes emploringly. 'Help' it whispers. Gradually it turns it's head and it suddenly lurches to one side - falling on to the floor. Shattering into a cloud of dust.

The other spirits look to the ex-child ghost, a wail goes up as one by one they lose coherency as if the magic holding their form was lost. Each of them explodes, covering the stairs in a fine mist of ectoplasm....

When it settles the room is dark, the circle had been broken. The illumination of Lawrence's body and the dim church above is all that's left.

Male Ferromancer

Jericho's eyes widened as the ghosts came together. Not what I intended at all. How could I have gotten the formula so wrong? He thinks, until the ghosts begin to lose cohesion. Jericho replaces his gawp with his usual cocky grin, until he sees the pain in their faces. How... He thought as the boy looked at him. How could that bastard do this... to people? In some dark part of his mind, Jericho remembered to file away the fact that these were not in fact people, but logic didn't help his heart hurt any less. "Cilas. Lawrence. These ghosts..." Jericho's voice trails into the darkness. "I'm going to make this bastard pay." Jericho's voice was dark and savage, entirely odd coming from the usually studious young man.
