Round 1

Ruarc rushes forward with his own low cry. Justice slides from its sheathe with a sinister hiss. "May your eyes fall on me, and your wings shield me!" Ruarc says with conviction, skidding to a halt in front of one of the barriers.

Valeria hustles forward, bow ready in case these things attack.

Bart and Nat follow with Valeria, keeping step.

Tik takes a few steps forward toward the mongrelmen, thumbs his nose at them, and gives a rousing ”PPBBBBTHPFFTHPPPT!!!"

...but the shrieking mongrelman seems to shake off the malaise he hoped would mire him.

Fidget guffaws at Tik's display, clutching her tummy. She then gallops forward toward the mongrelmen, drawing her mini scimitar.

One of the mongrels steps into the gap in the two barriers, and swings his cudgel at Ruarc. The blow doesn't even connect with the dark warrior. The second mongrel steps up and swings his club over the barrier at Ruarc. The tiefling is still off balance from dodging the first mongrel's blow, and is struck right in the faceplate. Despite the well aimed blow, Ruarc sustains relatively little damage thanks to his helmet.

Ruarc steps against the barrier to make room for Nat and Bart and then swings Justice at the mongrel who missed him moments earlier. He slashes a long shallow cut along the mongrel's chest. Both of the demon worshipers continue to shriek and howl the alarm as they fight.

Probably not, actually. At least not to swing her sword. Sorry for the delay guys, had a few days of birthday antics (my own and other friends') all at the same time. Should have time to update tonight or tomorrow morning after work.

Fidget dashes up behind Big Lion and stops, then jumps around in frustration, trying to see over the barrier. "Hey! Over here! Come and try me!" she shouts at the mongrels. She sighs and pokes Valeria's hip with the tip of her finger, whispering some helpful hints. "Here you go, it's all I can do."

Move to 11N and cast Guidance on Valeria.

How tall is the barrier? If Tik can see over it to cast, he'll wait right behind it (O12). If it seems likely to be a sight barrier for him, he'll hop over to O14 instead.


Busy day today, might not get a post in until tomorrow.


In the next chamber the lingering smells of cooked meat and rank bodies hang in the air. Ten bedrolls, each piled with coarse blankets and animal furs, surround a fire pit filled with glowing coals. Tanned hides hang stretched on the walls, each crudely painted with scenes of deformed humanoids hunting giant vermin in caves.

Standing in front of the door is a dog-sized monitor lizard which hisses aggressively. Nat can see one mongrelman to the north of the door, and Fidget can see another to the south.

Raurc readies to attack anything to comes out for them.

The lizard rushes forward into the death trap, and is immediately the target of a hail of attacks. Bart shreds it badly with one claw, and then Ruarc chops its tail and part of one hind leg off. The lizard hisses in pain, bleeding badly, but still bites at 1d2 ⇒ 2 Ruarc. It's so badly hurt that the attack is completely ineffective against the trained inquisitor.

The mogrelmen, seeing what happened to their pet, retreat further into the room, and out of sight.

Fidget climbs clumsily over the lizard's lifeless body and wanders into the next room, looking for more funny-faced men.

Update might have to wait for the weekend. Covering another teacher's classes+plus my own+homework = Very busy Jelani this/next week.

Tik singsongs, "Seems like lizard's friends have flew / now your scales are soft as poo!" and then burst into another peel of laughter. "Oh I tell you, fighting really seems to bring out the rhyme in me. What can I say? Maybe I should study to be a bard..."

Nat and Bart descend on the wounded lizard, and completely destroy it in a flurry of claws, teeth and a crackling, arcane falchion swipe.

Fidget guffaws and pumps her fist in the air. She adds a few more lines to Tik's rhyme. "Poopoo scales are very yucky! Chicken, fish, goose, and ducky!" she bellows. "Teehee! I'm going to be a bard, too!" Fidget climbs clumsily over the lizard's lifeless body and wanders into the next room, looking for more funny-faced men. She spots one immediately and slashes it with her scimitar.

Valeria relaxes her bowstring as she sees the lizard fall, waiting to see if more foes come their way.

Ruarc follows the halfling into the next chamber, saying "Come," to the others. He moves up next to Fidget, and with a grin for the silly little warrior, he slashes at the same mongrel but he misses.

The mongrelmen step up and attack Fidget. Her armor and small size protect her well from the blows of their clubs.

One of the doors on the eastern side of the room opens to reveal a mongrelwoman wielding a longbow. She draws a shaft to her cheek and shoots at Ruarc. The arrow deflects off his armor and clatters against the wall.

Fidget sneers at the attacking mongrelmen and continues her rhyming. "Bumble, fumble, jumble, tumble! I think you all are very dumb-le!!!" she shrieks at the nearest mongrelman, lashing out in fury with her diminutive blade. She takes a healthy slice out of his left elbow.

Valeria spots the archer take a shot at Ruarc, and realizes that she needs to put some pressure on them to keep them from picking off the rest of the party. She rushes forward and, rolling to throw off the other creatures present, drops her bow and readies her polearm. As she comes out of the roll, she leaps up and spins, bringing the polearm down across the archer's shoulder.

His blade dipped a clotted red and his lungs beginning to choke as the underground air seems more and more stagnant, Nat shakes his head to clear it and tries to focus on the fresh wind and cool ground behind his foes. Gritting his teeth he moves into the next room with Bart and lashes out at them with a grunt of effort, trying to blink through drips of sweat.

Fidget sneers at the attacking mongrelmen and continues her rhyming. "Bumble, fumble, jumble, tumble! I think you all are very dumb-le!!!" she shrieks at the nearest mongrelman, lashing out in fury with her diminutive blade. She takes a healthy slice out of his left elbow.

Valeria spots the archer take a shot at Ruarc, and realizes that she needs to put some pressure on them to keep them from picking off the rest of the party. She rushes forward and, rolling to throw off the other creatures present, drops her bow and readies her polearm. As she comes out of the roll, she leaps up and spins, bringing the polearm down across the archer's shoulder.

His blade dipped a clotted red and his lungs beginning to choke as the underground air seems more and more stagnant, Nat shakes his head to clear it and tries to focus on the fresh wind and cool ground behind his foes. Gritting his teeth he moves into the next room with Bart and lashes out at them with a grunt of effort, trying to blink through drips of sweat.

Ruarc attacks the same mongrel as Nat, trying to finish it off.

Raurc's attack/damage: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 231d10 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

He cuts its torso in half, and the mongrel falls sloppily to the floor, dead.

The living mongrel swings at the annoying halfling who cut his elbow.

Mongrel's attack/damage: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 51d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

He's so bad, that he actually hits himself in the back of his head. The mongrel grunts in pain and embarrassment.

Wenduag steps back and fires her bow at Bart.

Wenduag's attack/damage: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 8 + 1 = 171d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Her arrow skim's Bert's shoulder, slicing him, but not deeply.
