My HP are weird. How do we do HP in this campaign again?

Iliante takes another level in Trench Fighter netting Weapons Training (firearms). His 4 skills are Perception, Survival, Craft (ships), and Profession (sailor).

QUESTIONS FOR THE GM

In light of the just now finished DR debacle, I have this question:
If I give Arasmes the Basic Magic Evolution, does he qualify for the Arcane Strike feat?

Yes.

I'm also considering other solutions to the lack of magical weapons, without necessarily making them available quickly. Like I said from the beginning I wanted scarcity to be a big part of this game, but I also want you to have the tools you need to fight stuff. I've got an idea, it might take a short time to manifest though.

Emerion "Nim" Nimlaidas wrote:
Do I level up too?

Yes, although I will confess a massive amount of annoyance at you not being with the party. I'd strongly prefer you stick with them in the future. If I wanted an NPC crafter to stay back at the camp and work, I would have written one in.

Your HP should be 10+(5*6)+6+5 = 51. Each level you take half HD+1+con+any other misc bonuses.

+1 use of LOH per day.

Do the level up changes take effect right now-- i.e., does Penance get that new cap to HP this instant, as well as another use of LOH this instant?

You gain the difference between your old max HP and your new max HP as healing, but no new daily uses of stuff until you rest.

...dude, we're exploring, traveling multiple hexes, as was the plan agreed on before we set out. We're going to be multiple in-game days at the very least. This is why I was wondering why you wanted to just stay at base camp and do nothing but craft for RL weeks of gameplay.

Not complaining, tis a joke. As I said before going up against a dragon is a big deal and we need to have the gear to deal with it. If it takes a week in game or more I will just have more powerful goodies upon everyone's return. No biggie, I have samurai hobs for company. ;)

Forgive the double post. But seeing as I have already crafted the non armor and weapon magic items for the party. As well as have yet to get a request for anything else I am going to make a headband of vast intelligence for myself.

    Quick recap on crafting.
    Cloak of Resistance +1 (Corridan)
Amulet of Natural Armor +1 (Shinjuko)

Where is all the money for these items coming from? I know you traded the defeated hobgoblins' gear for some "store credit" as it were, but that wasn't more than a couple thousand if I recall correctly. Once you go through that, you're starting to use up your BP.

Here are the cost of what I have already made.

Cloak of Resistance +1 (500 gp)
Amulet of Natural Armor +1 (1000 gp)

For a total of 1500 gp. Unless I am mistaken we have that in credit. But having our credit and BP up somewhere would help as I don't like relaying on memory which is spotty at best. :Z

Iliante would've hit and seen a hole created by his bullet and goo flying out. Is that considered to have interacted with the illusion?

Yeah, but you failed your save. I rolled it for all the people who attacked the beetle. So as far as Iliante is concerned, he hit it, and the beetle got messed up. I'm sure Corridan will call it out, and then everyone will get free save with a +4 bonus.

Saving Throws and Illusions (Disbelief) wrote:
Creatures encountering an illusion usually do not receive saving throws to recognize it as illusory until they study it carefully or interact with it in some fashion....A failed saving throw indicates that a character fails to notice something is amiss. a character faced with proof that an illusion isn't real needs no saving throw. If any viewer successfully disbelieves an illusion and communicates this fact to others, each such viewer gains a saving throw with a +4 bonus.

Until then, Iliante and everyone else except for Corridan and the cat still perceive the beetle as real.

I missed the failed save. Can Iliante choose to not target the beetle? Or is that too meta-gamey?

As far as he is concerned, he shot the beetle and its still alive fighting with the cat and Corridan. You can wait to post until Corridan does to see if you pass the save. But not targeting it would be pseudo-meta gaming, yeah.

In light of severe inactivity on my part, and no signs of the situation improving, I've decided to withdraw from many of the PbPs I'm currently involved in. This is not any sort of commentary on the games I am a part of; not a slight or disapproval of the games in any way. Were they not enjoyable I would have withdrawn from them. I have hit a wall lately though, so I'm going to pare down the games I'm involved in.

I apologize immensely for doing this. I know losing players creates balance issues and role gaps. But given an absolute failure to keep my head above the water, so to speak, this is probably necessary. (And yes, I'll be copy-and-pasting this liberally)

Letting go of Shinjuko is one of the harder cuts to make, especially given the scope of a kingdom-building sandbox. But making combat updates on a Magus takes FOREVER. Apart from the two games I'm running, I'm trying to tend towards the ease-of-use characters (like Grommuk). Sorry again for dipping out like this; best of wishes to the rest of you.

So it appears that we are losing both Shinjuko and Corridan. I have no desire to DMPC them, and will be killing them off as soon as is convenient. Probably in this combat. I'm also going to go ahead and say Nim is out, since he essentially decided to not participate in order to craft. Haven't seen a post from him since May and it's October.

In light of that, the group is now down to four individuals. Four players is not really the scope I intended for the game. What do the rest of you have to say? Is there a strong desire to continue?

I must confess that having run the campaign for 13 months, I consider that already a pretty good accomplishment. If it were to die, I wouldn't so too terribly upset. Especially since I am about to start a new campaign as well.

I contacted DM Jelani a little earlier with my decision, one not taken lightly but necessary nevertheless. I do readily admit that my timing sucks however, seeing as how Shinjuko is also withdrawing. Sorry, guys...

I tried to post this a little sooner, but the site seemed to play tricks on me. Still, here it is (it is the same message I sent to our wonderful DM).

    F. Castor wrote:

    Good day.

Unfortunately I have decided to withdraw from the game. The reason is that I am reaching the final part of my medical internship and the exams are in a couple of months or three. That means that I have to study quite a bit, a fact which leaves me with much less time and energy than I had anticipated. Thus, I have to cut down on the number of games I am in. I really am sorry, but for the time being at least the dreariness of my studying takes precedence. :-(

I think Telemakos is my favorite character I ever played on the Paizo boards, and I thank Jelani for the steady updates, interesting fights and solid world-building he did for this.

I completly understand people dropping out, I think after more than a year we can count this as a success no matter what.

Since it doesn't seem to be a likely scenario to continue the campaign as a Colonization thing, you could give the four of us (I'm counting Telemakos, Penance, Iliante and Devram) a bit of closure, like a climactic fight to go out on a blaze, or a sub-quest to flee back home after the "sudden demise" of our two companions.

I would be sorry to see the PbP just stop, with no resolution at all, but I will understand whatever decision Jelani makes.

I could do something like that. This fight is/was going to be a wild one anyway. We'll see how it works out and go from there I guess.

Honestly I didn't think crafting would take me out for so long. But I don't like doing things half way. So while I have not post I have been watching. It's a bad habit of mine not to post when I have nothing to add. But I will understand if Nim remains out. Personally I would have liked to keep going but understand any decision reached. Been a pleasure all around. If our DM goes with the last battle ending I would like Nim to be in it if it's doable.

P.S. Thanks Telemakos for remembering to pick up a sample for Nim. ;-)

I've greatly enjoyed this campaign and story. Unfortunately unlike Telemakos, Iliante is not my favorite character, that I only have myself to blame. I too would enjoy a final fight, eg shootout at the OK corral.

    Cheers

I've enjoyed this game a lot and I really enjoy playing Penance, so I'd hate to see the game die, but I also know what it's like to GM and lose players-- it just sucks the energy right out of things for the GM. If you wanted to continue, Jelani, I'd still be here, but it does sound like we'd definitely have a pared-down group.

Sorry to lose both Shinjuko and Corridan-- I really enjoyed both those characters.

Okay...for now I think I've got a somewhat decent idea of how to end this. It won't necessarily be a "happy ending" for the PCs, but it would be more like a "Holy crap, we survived! Let's go home and get drunk," kind of thing.
