Okay guys, I'm tired (Australian time zone :) ) so I'll probably do up my final list of characters in the morning. Since this is PbP recruitment please don't be upset or feel I'm judging your application negatively, these games have limited space and sometimes I choose a person based on class utility, their backstory or anything else that piques my interest. Anyway, I'll stop rambling and go to bed and put up my selection of players tomorrow.

"Do I know why Shalelu took me under her wing? I couldn't really say, Sheriff. Maybe she needed a friend who happened to be an elf. Perhaps she sees some sort of promise or hidden talent in me. Heck, maybe she just thinks it's fun to have a friend on these wilderness outings. Like I said before, I don't really know." The young elf swallows the last of his beer, setting down the empty mug. Gazing about the innards of the Rusty Dragon, he sighs in contentment, smiling. "But, you know, I'm really glad that she did."
Thuriel Avathanas wandered into Sandpoint one day about 60 years ago, draped across the back of Shalelu Andosana. Having found him lost and starved in the forest, Shalelu had graciously taken Thuriel back to civilization. Once he had actually recovered, Shalelu scolded him as she might chide any youngling in the town about wandering in the forest. Admitting to his foolishness, Thuriel thanked Shalelu profusely for saving him. He was, he admitted, still planning on going out again. Though the elven woman seemed about to slap him, he quickly confided that he had lost his only keepsake of his family: their ancestral blade. Stolen by goblins during his travels down the coast, he had been searching for them, obviously with little luck.
Perhaps she simply felt sorry for Thuriel, but whatever the reason, Shalelu agreed to help Thuriel locate his lost blade. Though the search itself was simple, and took only a few days, for some reason Thuriel could not bring himself to leave the town, not yet. Days turned to weeks, weeks to months, months to years. Over time, Shalelu seemed to take a liking to him, teaching him how to survive in the forest while she took him along on yet another hunt or scouting trip. It seemed like she was treating him like a little brother. Not that Thuriel minded. He was happy enough to simply do what he could to repay his debt to her. In the intervening years, Thuriel has seen many events pass through Sandpoint's history, and though he has few skills to ply, Thuriel has always been an honest and hard worker. Mostly, he acts as a local guide, either for hunters, townsfolk, or even the occasional adventurer. In his free time, he practices what little magic he knows, and seeks to master his family blade.
The years bring many changes, however, and lately Thuriel has been feeling restless. Something is coming, he knows it. His feet seek the long path once more, after so many years, and perhaps one day soon he will know which path to take.
Jörmungandr |
Alrighty people, I'm going to be grabbing the following as my player group...
Mei Szilani, Human Monk of the Four Winds
Marduzi Lorvarya, Human Cavalier
Nostariel Lan, Elven Dreamspeaker Witch
Ruhk Ekensköld, Human Ranger
Asira Nurami, Starsoul Sorcerer
Only thing I'll add is that if you'd like to play Asira Nurami as a sorcerer go for it but if you don't mind being an Oracle you'd probably garner some additional love from the party.
I'll get the play thread and the ooc thread going later today.
Enaris |
Quite interested. Dot!
Arctic Druid or Boreal Sorcerer both sound like classes I would like to play out with this campaign, however, I've also got an excellent idea for a northerner barbarian.
I am currently playing an IRL JR campaign, but I'm pretty adept at separating knowledge from one character to another.
I meet all of your social contract rules.
Marduzi Lovarya |
Yes, thank you very much Jörmungandr. Looking forward to it. Looks to me like Marduzi and Nostariel would definitely know each other and may have belonged to the same clan. Or you could have Nostariel have been part of the Mvashti clan with Niska and Koya. Either way, it is nearly certain that the clans met.
Mei, Asira and Marduzi all have relationships with Niska and Koya. Mei and Marduzi were both recruited by Niska to join Koya on any long trips.
I think there is a lot of potential to further weave those stories together.
Nostariel Lan |
The way I see it is Nostariel is the elf equivalent of someone in their late teens/early twenties. She watched her adopted parents die of old age. Her childhood playmates are probably all in their 40s and 50s. So, if any of you are from the same clan, would you accept her, despite her elven (seeming) agelessness, would you regard her with superstition (she's eternally young, and a witch), or something in between?
