Wow. We're over 3/4 of the way to level 2... It took me 5 months to get to lvl 2 in another PbP.
I think I would have dropped out if that were the case, I'd be bored.
Kairi |
It's a interesting pace. I feel this campaign goes for more minimalism in tone. Less is more kind of deal. I am enjoying it so far.
What do you guys think?

We have pretty good group dynamics and I don't mind taking a while to level up in that game. Then again, I don't get bored easily with low-level games.
This game is pretty minimalist, but we've spent over half of it engaged in a goblin fight. I feel once we find ourselves in a situation (like the halfling's house) where we can loosen up and talk to each other, we will.
So... I want to turn the goblin chief into a hireling and have him follow us around. With a few well placed Diplo checks he could be an excellent addition to the caravan.
Lastly, the Advance Class Guide comes out in August. With it comes the Warpriest class which, barring some drastic changes, will allow me to do the whole Oradin thing without more multiclassing. If I take level 2 and forward in that class, will you object Google? If an archetype comes out that I really like will I be able to rebuild as that?

Yes! That would be awesome.
Niveus Anguis |
I am good with the game so far. :)
Concerning our goblin prisoners, Niveus has bad history with them. Both old and now new. So don't expect him to behind the idea or even think it will work, but he won't sabotage it or anything. So if you manage to make a goblin a hireling or anything he will just never turn his back on it. As any wise man would do. ;P

That's a rather interesting notion, and would be a bit more interesting than having nothing but generic NPCs for various odd caravan jobs... although it does again bring up the question of how you're going to deal with a bunch of unconscious goblins you were hoping to bring back to town when they're more apt to just run off and star in We Be Goblins 2 or something as you didn't seem to bring any rope in with you.
If you just wanted to try and talk some sense into them as they start to come to though, hey go for it.

Well, a lot of that depends on actually seeing the final book and determining which options if any are horrible terrible balance destroying atrocities I must forever ban from casting their dark shadows across any game I will ever run.
Barring THAT though, yeah, I'd generally be cool with people tweaking characters if the ACG suddenly shows up with a bunch of stuff that much better fits everyone's character concepts.
Aleon Hunter |
Now that we are back in town, now would be the time to claim whatever you need and sell off what we do not need.
Also, did it take a whole day to get back to town? because I like to track food and trail rations. I know it can be hard on PBP, but I like to try anyway and do things right.
Niveus Anguis |
So looking over the loot. Who wants what?
Niveus would like to keep a potion of cure light wounds, no doubt due to his insane bad luck. Would also be interested in the cloak of resistance +1. He would rather not sell the chest but if majority wants to he won't press the issue. Other then that he is good with a fair share concerning the coinage.
P.S. In my experience left over coin should be put into a party fund or just spent as a tip for whatever. No need to be bean counters over a coin here and there. ;)
Sidenote: What does Sandpoint have in the way of sellable stuff? Or just hand waving anything you want they have?
Aleon Hunter |
I just rounded down to the nearest copper, there is still leftover coin, but I'm not worried about that.
601.1625
Means each person would get 601 GP 1 SP and 6 CP including the sell value of all items. There is that leftover .0025 GP per person, but that don't matter, I divide out what is whole, I don't worry about the remainder that goes beyond .01 gold or 1 CP.
I don't see the need for the fancy chest, it is worth gold, unless someone specifically wants it for 150 value. For what storing items. Fancy does not matter to me, that chest to me is good for one thing, storing items, I never got much into decorating places or your house just for the sheer fun of it in games.

Sidenote: What does Sandpoint have in the way of sellable stuff? Or just hand waving anything you want they have?
Shame on me for only just now getting to that!
Currently on sale in Sandpoint...
+2 dagger 8,302 gp
+2 spell resistance (13) studded leather armor 6,175 gp
periapt of health 7,400 gp
potion of protection from chaos 50 gp
potion of levitate 300 gp
ring of feather falling 2,200 gp
scroll of mirror image 150 gp
wand of magic vestment (27 charges) 6,075 gp
(27 charges)
And there is a 75% chance (which I'm fine rounding up to 100% in at least this case) of finding anything else you might be looking for with a value up to 1,300 gp which easily covers anything within your price range unless you're pooling everything together.
Also worth noting:
- Everyone has editing permission on this loot sheet, so it's easy enough to just stick your name in and call dibs on anything that strikes your fancy.
- While Sandpoint has pretty convenient shopping, and a few other locations down the road will too, a decent sized swath of this AP involves spending long stretches of time, both in terms of in game time and in terms of cash rolling in, so crafting feats will eventually be a rather sound investment if anyone was considering them.

It would be helpful if you post the loot sheet above the thread. I know you can do it, I'm not quite sure how though. This is also good for posting the current map etc.
Aleon Hunter |
Aleon wants to buy a longbow/masterworklongbow/compositelongbow/+1 str composite longbow, well whatever longbow they have if they have one.
But according to the rules, I should be able to buy a basic composite longbow, which is what I can afford right now.
Googleshng |
Yeah, any non-magical equipment (well, barring crazy exotic animals and all that) is easily obtainable in any given settlement.

Good idea, and done.
Campaign Info -> Short description is where you set that by the way.
Niveus Anguis |
Well Niveus will buy some scrolls with his share.
Scroll of Endure Elements
Scroll of Shield
Scroll of Mage Armor
Scroll of Mudball
Scroll of Sleep
Scroll of Burning Hands
Scroll of Ear Piercing Scream
Scroll of Silent Image
Scroll of Ventriloquism
Scroll of Ray of Enfeeblement
Scroll of Burning Disarm
Scroll of Expeditious Retreat
Along with two more potions of cure light wounds. His total spent should be 400 gp. I think that's good unless we want to invest in a wand of cure light wounds as a group which would be easy for us.
Saif al-Fajr |
To Niveus. Moving here as to not clutter up the gameplay thread.
Drowning
Any character can hold her breath for a number of rounds equal to twice her Constitution score. If a character takes a standard or full-round action, the remaining duration that the character can hold her breath is reduced by 1 round. After this period of time, the character must make a DC 10 Constitution check every round in order to continue holding her breath. Each round, the DC increases by 1.When the character finally fails her Constitution check, she begins to drown. In the first round, she falls unconscious (0 hp). In the following round, she drops to –1 hit points and is dying. In the third round, she drowns.
Unconscious characters must begin making Constitution checks immediately upon being submerged (or upon becoming unconscious if the character was conscious when submerged). Once she fails one of these checks, she immediately drops to –1 (or loses 1 additional hit point, if her total is below –1). On the following round, she drowns.
It is possible to drown in substances other than water, such as sand, quicksand, fine dust, and silos full of grain.
So you're very much not in the danger of drowning. I'm sure you'll make it before you drown in [(Your con score x 2) - (1+how may attempts you need)] rounds.
Googleshng |
Indeed. I stated the stakes earlier. Worst cast scenario, you get swept downstream a bit and the party ends up having to camp out in the swamp overnight due to the extra time the whole thing takes.
On the gripping hand though, you were just back in town with some disposable cash and a GM not insisting on double checking each and every mundane purpose. This is totally the sort of thing where carrying a guide rope across helps the low str crowd manage.
I'll be posting a proper update in oh, 12 hours or so by the way, one way or the other. Little behind schedule with other obligations at the moment.
Kairi |
Hey Guys, I have some really really really bad news. I am going through a rough patch in my life. I can't really go into detail, but the reasoning is legitimate.
What I can go into detail about is the medium that we play in. I realized that this medium has become largely unsatisfying for me.There are certainty advantages: more detail, more characterization, and a different way of storytelling. But, I like seeing someone roll the dice. Seeing the laughter, the panic, and the excitement. It cannot be beat. I feel like this computer screen is too much of a wall to probably experience that kind of fun. Certainly, time is less of an issue in some circumstances, but game time is much slower. There are a large amount of games that are left unfinished.I would rather not go farther and do a disservice to you guys.
I am calling quits through this medium. I apologize for starting something and not being there to finish it. Especially when it is early game. It is important that I do this. I am glad to have the opportunity to play with you guys. This was a valuable learning experience.
Please have my character replaced.
Aleon Hunter |
I'm sure Kairi can be botted until this fight is over and a replacement can be found. But as far as the fight, this thing isn't going to come after us and pursue us and it isn't on the quest list. I say we just leave the area ending the fight.
Googleshng |
So, since we're replacing Kairi at some point, but you have a tag-along NPC to largely pick up the slack right now, I should ask-
Are you planning to immediately double back to town after checking out this little shack, and bring someone else along to check out the rest of this map from the goblins, or press on to the other shipwreck and cave with Kairi in NPC mode?
Aleon Hunter |
I'm sure there are other ways of incorporating PCs into this, like we rescue someone who has been tied up or kidnapped or lost as we travel.
As far as things go, Aleon rather not take the lead decision.
