So, as promised, here is a link to Sybil Vekker's alias.

It is basically the same as what I posted earlier but with more details on feat and traits selection (mostly crunch).

n_n All of you afraid that speaking your mind to me will lower your chances don't need to worry. Personally, I like this somewhat. It gives me a better understanding of how to recruit next time, and for that I am really appreciative.

@Cuan: Theologian is acceptable.

@hustonj: It isn't a prereq for admission. It accounts for maybe +/-5% of my decision. It's more of I enjoy reading the posts, getting feedback, giving info, that sort of thing. You could just post your character, then back off and say nothing past that and still have a good chance. And the policing of characters falls under my purview, and I do try hard to deal with it. If it's something minor, I tend not to mention it really. Major ones I get a good idea where the problem arose, and adjust for it mentally. Truly off characters (like CE Paladins with a bonus money trait and no weapons. laugh, I've seen it before) I will contact and ask them to adjust. I appreciate your concern, and it will not affect your standing. Now if you had been crude and rude, outright beligerent, then you would be reprimanded/denied access into the game. You haven't been.

@Gnick: Exactly!

@Lativa: Thank you for your support, I appreciate it.

@Amber: I do look through peoples aliases, it helps. Gets me curious sometimes, like when I see someone post a sorcerer or something and every other alias has been a melee fighter for instance.

I updated Iza to the Theologian version.

Here are some sketches he made while working at the Rusty Dragon

a quick sketch during some down time during the Shadowtail festival

a nicer one when I finally got her to pose

some kids from around Sandpoint

a quick sketch on Lou's sister Noro in her youth - don't tell her I have this

Are these yours? They're nice.

sadly no, I have nearly no true artistic ability. I scoured the web for these. I try not to use professional art work. only stuff people post for public use.

But Lou does have a rank in the skill. as that is his hobby in the small town of Sandpoint. besides being a bartender and cook for the Rusty Dragon.

Funny, I got curious about Lou and looked up his alias (just for the picture) and I think it's hilarious (in that he looks so young)! Is he suppose to be in his late teens? Because if so... it will be hard to pursue Ameiko.

Anyway, makes me think of my research for a female dwarf (for my own character). I did not look long before getting bored of beardy women...

I was having trouble finding the right picture for Lou actually.

that one was one from a long time ago. I will probably look for another.

Why not use the one that shows on the forums?

its OK...

here is another one I found, he looks a little older

very difficult to find a drunken master pic that isn't an old man or Jackie Chan

Nice one.

Sovereign Court

Nice Picture.

For pitures, you could check for martial artists instead of drunken masters.
Also The Last Airbender or other manga types of pics could help you there.

thanks that is what I did and found that pic.

working on more sketches for Lou's sketch book. If chosen I want to have some ready to go selections just in case.

GM Lugos wrote:

I appreciate the reassuring comments. Honest.

But, I perceive the odds as being pretty heavily stacked against you choosing two Samurai characters. With the variety of applicants and you already having a Samurai character tied to Ameiko in the selected group leaves me expecting a non-select status regardless of the positive or negative aspect of our interactions in-thread.

Liberty's Edge

Hopefully no one has taken offense to me pointing things out on some of the characters.

I work at a comic shop and Pathfinder is our go to RPG. In order to get people interested I GM for the newer players. This tends to lead to a bunch of mentoring and rules explanations. I've seen so many character sheets that you kind of get a feel if something is out of place. On top of that I love making characters and there is definitely some cool ones in this thread, I may have to steal them for some of my NPC's.

Grand Lodge

No! Kaaji is of honor. Not meant to be tossed around like brothel goer.

Nope, appreciate it (although comments on the actual character would be cool too).

If you notice anything amiss in my statblock, I've got no problems with it being pointed out.

Character audits don't bother me; comments on background and such are fine too if there's something that seems confusing or needs an explanation.

Sovereign Court

Steal is such a negative word. Borrow? yes...lift? better.

heh heh I already 'borrow' quite a bit from applications for my own games.

Borrow v. steal? Do we have kender in the group?

Liberty's Edge

There are Tengu, they like shiny things right?

nightdeath wrote:

Fun fact: I've borrowed names and bits and pieces of fan-made NPC mods for games that I particularly enjoyed. I always change them up enough to so that they're their own character and not a copy of someone else's, but they may have the same name or one of the original character traits or something.

Character submissions are closed!

Will post results in a bit. Still trying to figure out who to choose for Sandru...

Alright, after literally an hour of beating my head in, I have decided on the characters for Sandru and Koya. Remember folks, you still have a chance for the noon character selection!

Drumroll please!

What? I can't make Paizo's forums do a drumroll? Fine, here's a youtube link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzAfTmC3It0

Alright, first up, Koya!

Koya:

Liera! Congratulations on your pick. It was difficult, but you won out! And by difficult, I mean I spent about 35 minutes debating who to choose.

And now for Sandru (poor guy...)

Sandru:

Easily the most difficult to pick for. Poor Sandru had little love, and now a veritable gaggle of drinking buddies. But the one who won out was Kaaji Ebonbeak! Congratulations, bird-man!

Now I have to pick the noon choice...
*Bangs head on keys* Why?! Why?! Why can't they all be in the game together?!
In all seriousness, these have been some of the best characters I've seen done up in a long, long time. And the feedback has been great too! If you do not get picked at noon, please know that it is nothing personal, and I hope you get into many great games!

Congrats to the currently selected Characters.
Current Party
1) Ishikawa Kaijutsu - Samurai (Ameiko )
2) Fenra Andosana - Oracle (Shalelu)
3) Kaaji Ebonbeak - Ranger (Sandru)
4) Liera - Witch (Koya)
5) ???? (The Fifth Man/Woman)

I just saw my chance dwindle away to nothing lol. I have a pretty good hunch on who's the fifth one though.

At least I saw a Tengu get in even if it's not me. Congrats.

Grand Lodge

Thank you for the selection GM! Kaaji shall bring honor to your game. Nightdeath thank you as well, was afraid my racial choice would hinder my chances! This is only my third PbP to get into, the first died because the GM abandoned us and the second has been my favorite yet. Congratulations are in order to my fellow selectee Liera as well.

As for borrowing character ideas, it's all good if somebody asks me. I try to put a lot into my character's stories so it means a lot when I'm told by a GM they enjoy it or think it's a good piece of original work. My S&S barbarian and a drow I made have been my favorites to write, with this guy being a close second.

Here we are, one character spot left and judging by the current selection he/she'll probably be a rogue or someone who can deal with traps. Honestly after the Shalelu character spot was taken, I had a sinking feeling I wouldn't be making it.

Congratulations El Ronza! I was hoping we'd both get picked and find ourselves in another game together but I doubt that will happen now.

Congratulations Kaaji!

I'll stick around just in case I end up being picked.

Posting under myself, since Daniel is at 9 already, but i agree what Kaaji said on using another's character.

Taking a character you like from anothers work is...cheap....if not asking if they're ok with it. They put time in designing a character.

I agree completely.

Grand Lodge

Congrats to Kaaji and Liera!

It's not long now until the final character is announced. Good luck everybody to all.

Grand Lodge

Grats everyone! Have fun.

Sovereign Court

If I'm right the fifth character would be a Shalelu trait.

Guessing on the last char now.

well I have at least 1 sketch for Lou's sketchbook of each chosen player so far.

of course unless picked none shall be shown. after all one cannot view the art of an artist that does not exist.

I was more referring to build/class/race combinations.

awwww, disappointing....that means one way or another I never get to see them (I was particularly curious about the Tengu sketch).

Liberty's Edge

What do people think of the Antagonize feat? I refer mostly to the Diplomacy portion.

Antagonize:
Benefit: You can make Diplomacy and Intimidate checks to make creatures respond to you with hostility. No matter which skill you use, antagonizing a creature takes a standard action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity, and has a DC equal to 10 + the target’s Hit Dice + the target’s Wisdom modifier. You cannot make this check against a creature that does not understand you or has an Intelligence score of 3 or lower. Before you make these checks, you may make a Sense Motive check (DC 20) as a swift action to gain an insight bonus on these Diplomacy or Intimidate checks equal to your Charisma bonus until the end of your next turn. The benefits you gain for this check depend on the skill you use. This is a mind-affecting effect.

Diplomacy: You fluster your enemy. For the next minute, the target takes a –2 penalty on all attacks rolls made against creatures other than you and has a 10% spell failure chance on all spells that do not target you or that have you within their area of effect.

Intimidate: The creature flies into a rage. On its next turn, the target must attempt to make a melee attack against you, make a ranged attack against you, target you with a spell, or include you in the area of a spell. The effect ends if the creature is prevented from attacking you or attempting to do so would harm it (for example, if you are on the other side of a chasm or a wall of fire). If it cannot attack you on its turn, you may make the check again as an immediate action to extend the effect for 1 round (but cannot extend it thereafter). The effect ends as soon as the creature attacks you. Once you have targeted a creature with this ability, you cannot target it again for 1 day.

I can see two uses, one by melee types and one by unreachable opponents (wizard flying or such). However, when you get to fly you have better things to chuck at people than antagonize. As for the warrior, if your allies are realy getting destroyed by an enemy, it might be better to kill the creature really quickly.

I took the feat with a druid/witch (arcane hierophant 3.5) and never used it... unfortunately.

Edit: don't get me wrong, I think the flavor is pretty cool. But might not be that good.

WHAT?! Kaaji has drawing? This makes Kaaji very interested...

Firstly, I would like to thank everyone personally for their submissions. Like I said last night, the characters submitted have been some of the best I seen. I hope everyone not chosen the best.

And this is a little early for the noon pick, but I've been called into work early, so I need to place my choice.

Noon:

The last character joining this epic caravan adventure will be Lou Kasuri! Congratulations! Now take your spot among your fellow adventurers!

To those not in the campaign, thank you for your character submissions and your thoughts and ideas.

Can't say I am surprised I was not picked; Avan just doesnt seem to be popular among gms maybe I should change his name to Avan the Unwanted.

Enjoy yourself Lou, I am going back to searching for more games...joy....

Lantern Lodge

Yeah!

When's the discussion thread go up? We have things to discuss. Character ties! Rivalries! Nicknames for the tiefling and the tengu need to be discussed and vetted.

Wait! It's already here! Pile in, folks. Let's get to arguing.

Good job, enjoy the game

Liberty's Edge

Disappointing but that's alright.

Note to all who didn't make it, I still want to experience the Jade Regent, so I will DM a game of it. Look for a thread later today or tomorrow with the details. I will put more preference to players who posted here in this thread.

Glad to hear that, thanks M.O.!

Thank you Meninite that is very kind of you.

I concur.

Grand Lodge

Congrats Lou!

It looks like I may see the rest of you again in a few days.

Grand Lodge

Thanks Meninite I will watch for it :)

Cool. Will be there soon!

Congrats to the selected and good luck! Thanks for being willing to run a game M.O., will be watching for the thread :)

Congratulations all, may it all run well for you.
