Okay, we have a locked door with a lot of mysterious tracks.

Has anyone a crowbar or battering ram for the violent option?

Otherwise has anyone an idea how to get a door that has swollen because of water loose without burning half the building down?

Also GM, nice to have you back.

Can you tell us what we need to identify the tracks?

The map here is a little wonky, with walls running right down the middle of some squares. Treat those squares as allowing you to stand right next to the wall on either side.

Also, the three dire rats are sized Small, but the ratling in the northeast is actually Tiny.

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

Talk about jammy (lucky, big time)!
Two critical hits with spell strike in two rounds.

Waiting on an agreement as to how to spend the night--Here in Megus's shack or try to make it back to Walthus? Also, in-character reactions to the horrendous death scene in the witch hut would be enjoyable to read :).

Looking for consensus re boat. Right now looks like 1 vote each way?

Boat is good. I'm in. Should've wrote that in the post.

I don't think we have any blunt weapons. Oversight on my part. I think that's a lesson learned from our first encounter with skeletons.

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

Gôlgast has a masterwork light mace!

Because you never know when you'll need one!

:)

No slashing weapons, though.
A bit of an oversight.
I have piercing (rapier and longbow), as well as
bludgeoning weapons (light mace and sling), though.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Part of me wants to give Plergk my vials of acid and tell him to go nuts and become the next goblin hero.

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

I've also got the Disrupt Undead spell.

We'll probably need some of that!

House rules question: Are the hybrid classes from the ACG allowable for multi-classing?

Yep. And id even allow variant multi-classing, now that I've read it.

Cool, there's definitely some cool ways to go with this. I was looking at the Shaman with the Speaker for the Past and Possessed Shaman. Added skills, plus I can choose two skills of the same attribute type and have them key off of my WIS stat.

But I don't know. I kind of think staying the course on Ranger would be cool too. It's all going to be determined by how this adventure turns out. If certain situations dictate a different need as far as character growth who knows what classes we all decide to take.

[Loot] | [Roll20] | [Inspired Rage] | [Hero Points] | [Discord Chat]

Yes all the options are definitely exciting. That's what I love about pathfinder! As far as the adventure, I honestly haven't read past the first book. I want to be surprised as much as anyone as we move along. So I can't really give recommendations beyond what's given in the players guide.

Speaking of, am I right in guessing this group favors combat over roleplay? If so, I can try to minimize or summarize the RP and maximize combats.

M Half-orc Ranger 3 [HP 32/32 | AC: 18 | T: 12 | FF: 16 | CMB: +6 | CMD: 18 | Fort +5 | Ref +5 | Will +3 | Init +4| Per +8 (Dark Vision) | Favored Enemy: Humans

I like role-playing, I have a crazy gnome bloodrager and a pompous hero worshiping Skald in my other pbp games. I like all the different personas I've created.

I enjoy the roleplay, I just haven't nailed down Kandor's personality yet.

Also: I have a morningstar (bludgeoning and piercing damage)
If you want, you can use it, just find me a piece of driftwood that I can use to threaten skeletons with.

Also: I have holy water, that seems safer to give to Plergk, as it does not hurt us if we get hit by the splash.

[Loot] | [Roll20] | [Inspired Rage] | [Hero Points] | [Discord Chat]

So what's Plergk ending up with? Right now he has his shortbow and a shortsword.

Liberty's Edge

Male CG Dwarf Cleric (Domains: Travel, Liberation) 3 HP: 24/24 AC: 21 | T:13, | FF: 18 | CMB: +4 | ACP -3 CMD: 17 | F: +6, R: +4, W: +7 | Init: +2 | Perc: +10, SM: +8 |Darkvision

I give Plergk two flasks of holy water, an improvised club and the instruction that smashing skeletons works a lot better than cutting or piercing them. Also, he may only use the flasks on groups of skeletons.

I hope Lugert or Golgast can assist with telling Plergk this.

I also hand Lugert my morning star, and grab a piece of wood for myself, which will be on my belt for now.

(edit: please tell me Plergk has levels in alchemist)

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

@ GM Wicked:
the only extra gear I have are sling stones, which are probably too big for Plergk to use.
I've still got five acid flasks, though.

@ Kandor:
Gôlgast can help explain things to Plergk.

@ Nobodyinparticular:
I'm still working on Gôlgast's persona.
Not a moron, but often brash.
As befitting his alignment, battle planning usually means "the next five minutes".
But he has more social graces than Plergk! Which isn't saying much by itself, of course!

I'm not that eloquent, but I like both. What we have now is perfect.

Sorry, I missed that bit.

Like Samiya, I like a nice mix.

I kind of think of the combat is special effects in a movie. They should complement the story, not become the story.

So, I also think we've got a good mix happening right now.

M Half-orc Ranger 3 [HP 32/32 | AC: 18 | T: 12 | FF: 16 | CMB: +6 | CMD: 18 | Fort +5 | Ref +5 | Will +3 | Init +4| Per +8 (Dark Vision) | Favored Enemy: Humans

What Samiya said. The pacing right now is great. My other games are a bit too fast for me to keep up sometimes, but this has been awesome.

I see Lugert as moving more towards True Neutral as we progress. I want too see a lowly hunter turn into a tactical behemoth.

Great, thanks for the feedback. I'll update tomorrow around lunchtime.

Hi guys! Looks like we are struggling to make headway with this dungeon. Dungeons can be tricky things in PbP b/c the players are (rightfully) hesitant to place themselves in danger. But someone's got to put themselves out there, so to speak :). I'll check in tonight and can just assume some actions if no one's acted.

I have no problem leading the way and finding all the traps. Been sapped from all sides. New job, new routine, and now headed out to StL to perform a wedding. I'm incredibly tired, honestly. I'll try to post while waiting for the plane.

[Loot] | [Roll20] | [Inspired Rage] | [Hero Points] | [Discord Chat]

It's okay. It's just the GM's job to "push" the game at all times. As a mode of encouragement, know that we are soooooo close to the point in the book where we get to build our caravan!

For now, I will go in the front, I have darkvision and better saves than a sickened Lugert.

Also I am now making a bit more tempo. If someone wants to fight large spiders, don't start crying if you get poisoned and eaten. :)

I miss the built-in turn/destroy undead for the cleric.

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

I'm sure Kandor does too! :D

[Loot] | [Roll20] | [Inspired Rage] | [Hero Points] | [Discord Chat]

Kandor opened up an unexplored section of tunnel. What happens next?

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

Gôlgast will follow Kandor!

Has the oil of magic weapon worn off by now?

It should only have a life of 1 minute if if was made at CL1.

[Loot] | [Roll20] | [Inspired Rage] | [Hero Points] | [Discord Chat]

Yes it's probably faded :(.

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

Still got one more handy.

Although I rather doubt the bad guys will give us a time out during a fight to apply it.

Just a hunch!

Inactive

Guys, if you have a driver's license, how many attempts did it took for you to get it?

[Loot] | [Roll20] | [Inspired Rage] | [Hero Points] | [Discord Chat]

I got it on my first try, which was a miracle considering how little I had practiced. But I was only 16 and I think the lady felt sympathy for me because I did the sweet puppy eyes thing. Anyway, I didn't truly learn to drive until after I had my license....

XD

Inactive

Don't think sweet puppy eyes thing will work now. =) Especially with our police. Well, maybe the sixth attempt will work.

M Half-orc Ranger 3 [HP 32/32 | AC: 18 | T: 12 | FF: 16 | CMB: +6 | CMD: 18 | Fort +5 | Ref +5 | Will +3 | Init +4| Per +8 (Dark Vision) | Favored Enemy: Humans

In Illinois we have drivers education in high school. I got my license after passing the class.

[Loot] | [Roll20] | [Inspired Rage] | [Hero Points] | [Discord Chat]

Kandor I think it's reasonable to guess the skeleton is evil, if you'd like to amend your spell to pfe instead. It's up to you.

Inactive

There's also Kn.Religion. I think any knowledge can tell the most common alignment of a creature.

Liberty's Edge

Male CG Dwarf Cleric (Domains: Travel, Liberation) 3 HP: 24/24 AC: 21 | T:13, | FF: 18 | CMB: +4 | ACP -3 CMD: 17 | F: +6, R: +4, W: +7 | Init: +2 | Perc: +10, SM: +8 |Darkvision

The problem was more that I choose between a group affecting spell and a person affecting spell, PfE.

Tactically, if Kandor had any inkling what a challenge was, he would have chosen to cast PfE on the challenged person.

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

@ GM Wicked:

Just for future reference: do you allow the Fencing Grace feat from Ultimate Intrigue?

Gôlgast wouldn't be able to take that before level 5 anyway.

[Loot] | [Roll20] | [Inspired Rage] | [Hero Points] | [Discord Chat]

Generally it's okay. But I fear it suffers from the same limitation as slashing grace:. It's not usable with spell combat.

Slashing grace was specifically errata'd on that, and fencing grace contains the same language. It doesn't apply anytime another hand is otherwise occupied. Would you still want it?

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

I noticed that bit about "unoccupied hand" after I posted that.

I decided on Extra Arcane Pool.
He's good at hitting with Weapon Finesse anyway.
Especially when being buffed by Samiya's bard song and Kandor's bless.
Having a bigger Arcane (Eldritch) Pool looks more important.
Since that's where Gôlgast's coool abilities revolve around.

Here's the changes I've made for Gôlgast to level up:
• HP + 7 (5 avg + CON + FCB) = 24 HP now
• Magus Arcana: Pool Strike (can be used as a touch attack or with spellstrike)
• Magus Spells: Light (level 0), and Shield (level 1)
• Skill Points (4): +1 to Intimidate (now at +9), +1 to Knowledge (planes) (now at +5), +1 to Ride (now at +5 with backpack, +8 without), and +1 to Use Magic Device (now at +9)
• Feat: Extra Arcane Pool (Eldritch Pool now at 6/day, up from 4/day)

All I need to change now is any dosh and bling from our loot.
But I guess that will have to wait until we're back at Sandpoint.

Addendum: I just finished making these changes to his profile.

Liberty's Edge

Male CG Dwarf Cleric (Domains: Travel, Liberation) 3 HP: 24/24 AC: 21 | T:13, | FF: 18 | CMB: +4 | ACP -3 CMD: 17 | F: +6, R: +4, W: +7 | Init: +2 | Perc: +10, SM: +8 |Darkvision

I need some input for my feat.

I can go for improved Channel, increasing the dc.

Or Channel ray, to target a single creature at range, with increased dc for harming channels.

Or something completely different and I go for Dodge and mobility, to more easily get into flanking positions.

Or maybe into Shield bashing, so I keep one hand free to cast and Channel.

[Loot] | [Roll20] | [Inspired Rage] | [Hero Points] | [Discord Chat]

This is why cleric is one of my favorite classes. People often underestimate their versatility. Those feats all work well.

Again, I haven't read beyond book 1, but I don't know that, Brinestump excepted, this is an undead heavy campaign. In an AP like Carrion Crown, with its heavy emphasis on undead, channeling is powerful. I'm not sure how much mileage you'll get out of specializing in it here.

I noticed you also don't have improved initiative, which is another strong option, especially for a full caster.

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

Dodge and Mobility are good.
But that option take two feats.

The Channel Ray and Improved Channel both sound promising.
Both would give you better chances of hurting undead bad guys.
If push comes to shove, I would go for Improved Channel.
Mostly because undead are often in tightly packed groups.

Extra Channel wouldn't hurt either. Depending how often the party insists on getting beat up!

But keep in mind I haven't played a Cleric before either.

Inactive

Already 3rd level? That's fast.

So, level up:
+6 HP, +1 BAB, +1 Fort
Bardic Performance: Thunder Call
Spells: cantrip - Ghost Sound, 1st - Vanish
Skills: +1 Acrobatics, +1 Appraise, +1 Bluff, +2 Disguise, +1 Kn.Geography, +1 Kn.Planes, +1 Kn.Religion, +1 Perform (oratory), +1 Spellcraft, +2 Linguistics (Tien, Terran)
Feat: Extra Performance (+6 rounds)

Now, between the four of us, we know Common, Goblin, Orc, Dwarven, Celestial, Sylvan, Elven, Gnome, Aklo, Draconic, Tien, Terran.
I think that's not bad.
