I am so sorry about this Azure, but after some thinking, I have decided to pull Arvin out from this. (Insanely feat hungry and me just not being able to work properly with his story...)

Instead, would it be too much to think that a Inspired Blade might be too much annoyance? I have his crunch on a Obsidian portal, so the Crunch part is quickly done.

And I think that this campaign might be my chance to work a little bit with him.

((This being the Swashbuckler... I am looking for a proper Avatar :)))

As in, complete WITH alias. Especially considering that holds true as all the [C] are links to aliases, while all those without [C] are links to posts, probably many with complete stuff like yours.

But aye, maybe to prevent people from being confused there should be finer differentiation here.

if you have a link, you have data, but no alias

The Reason for dropping non-aliased links later is because they eat more character space, if you update, I have to update the link, and if you get selected we have to wait on you getting your data into the alias.

You can make an alias load it with data, and not need to post it. Just a link to it, so if you don't get picked you can delete the alias.

. . . I don't think that you do need an alias (though that's not a definitive). Azure has just said that if the list grows any, he won't be linking to those that don't have an alias due to the character length of their urls.

If you feel like you need to make an alias, but don't want it to clutter up your account, you can do like I did. Just link to your alias, but don't post with it. If you're not chosen, you can still delete it or change the name and it's no big deal.


@Mia: I will no longer be accepting new applications after Sunday probably afternoon. My selections won't be made and contacted until Monday afternoon and those select few selected will have until Tuesday to get alias's in order.

Backstory:

Vrek'nthyl or just "Vrek" to most was far more personable than his sister, Shalelu, and yet, many of Sandpoint, when he visited them, recognized him as "Shalelu's little brother" or "that other elf", terms that, if nothing else, forced Vrek to develop a sense of humor. While nature had its moments for him, Vrek never did develop the same love of it that his ranging sister had. No, the draw for him was the arcane. He befriended Varisian sorcerers, and spoke to graduates of the wizard schools alike.

Yet to find his sister, at least when she wasn't out in the wilds, he had to visit Sandpoint. It was an aggravating thing sometimes to realize this town often got more attention from Shalelu than he did. Fortunately, a few treated him like his own man, among them Koya. Koya was the one who taught him that differences between how Elves worshiped Desna and how many humans did ultimately didn't matter. It was she who helped him see a glimmer in humans what he supposed his sister must see in them. After that, trips to Sandpoint became much more enjoyable. Even if he still got pointed out quite often as "Shalelu's little brother" by humans who hadn't even seen a half century.

Lately though, he noticed his older sister growing restless, yes, even with Sandpoint. Trying to get her to open up about it proved very unproductive, so lately he's been tagging along, just like a little brother should. When Shalelu informed him she didn't want him taking up the adventuring life like she had, it hit something contrary in him making him wonder what he was missing all the more. Koya tells him to be patient with his sister, but good gods, he'd heard of arcane locks that were easier to open than his sister's trust. Of course, Koya herself has seemed wistful lately, and while not her best friend, Vrek is fond enough of the old woman to check on her now and then too.

And those ties are how he found himself spending more and more time of Sandpoint lately. It's not home for him though, and he doubts it ever will be.

Background:

Angus Alehammer was born to a well-to-do merchant in Kalsgard. The tenth of eleven and the first son, he was doted on by both his mother and father, while also being held to stricter standards of proper behavior and intelligence. He grew up knowing that he'd inherit his father's business and wealth, and that it would be his responsibility to ensure that he could pass it down to his son.

Unfortunately for Angus, his father had a temper and a misogynistic streak that he carefully kept out of public view. One night shortly after Angus turned thirteen, his father came upon an old woman asking for a few silver to see her through. The street was empty, and he'd just received some bad news about his latest shipment to Absolom. Enraged by the simple, honest, and polite request, he beat the woman near to death. As she lost consciousness, she laid a curse upon his head. He laughed it off, but this woman was no mere mortal, for she was a fey touched druid, and her words held power.

The next morning, Angus awoke a she. Her father, still fuming at the events of the previous night flew into a rage, and it was only luck that Angus escaped unharmed. The next several months were the worst ones in Angus' young life. No longer an adored son, but another daughter to be wed off as soon as she was of age, she soon discovered that her sisters had endured worse treatment than she had thought while still a he.

As winter closed in, Angus stole some money from her father's cash box and ran for the docks. She bought a ride on the first ship south and bare moments after the captain had cast off, her father came storming up the pier, flinging curses and threats up the ships wake at his embarrassment of a child.

Angus got off in Riddleport and headed south, Young, alone, and frightened, she only wanted to put a much distance between her and her father as possible. Fortune smiled on her, and she made it most of the way with little in the of trouble, despite being a young, naive girl who was on her own for the first time in her life. She was only a half-day's travel to Sandpoint when her luck ran out and a goblin warparty found her. She ran and ran, but it was no use. They cornered her, and she was sure that she was dead.

Then Shalelu dropped from the trees and began slaying goblins left and right as she carried the exhausted, frightened young girl to safety. Over the next five years, Angus learned archery and sneaking from her savior who was now her mentor. She stayed at the Rusty Dragon, earning her keep by telling tales and singing songs for coin.

It's been over five years since she'd run away, and while her stay in Sandpoint has been pleasant, she's noticed that Shalelu has been growing restless and begun talking about taking a journey somewhere. Angus, finding that she was feeling much the same resolved that next time Shalelu was in town, she'd be following her to the next adventure in her life.


Appearance and Personality:

Angus is head-strong, but personable young woman with a rakish view on life. She isn't a stranger to the taverns around Sandpoint, nor the drunk tank in the garrison. She lives each day as it comes, choosing to enjoy life rather than focusing on the bad thing that had happened to her.

Despite the fact that her sisters were all taller than six feet, Angus stands at a dainty five feet and a few inches. Her build, short hair, and attitude give her a mischievous, fey-like air. She wears simple clothing that flatters her figure, often a long-sleeved shirt, a sturdy,fitted vest, pants, and supple leather boots. Her skin is pale, her hair is dirty-blond, and her eyes are steely gray.


Quirks:

-Sometimes refers to herself as a guy, especially while drunk.
-If you've heard the Johnny Cash song, 'A boy named Sue,' flip the gender and you'll have an idea of how she reacts when someone comments on the fact that she has a boy's name.
-Will exact disproportionate revenge for any gropings. (Such has pranks that put the victim in a very revealing and compromising position.)
-Refuse to drink any fermented beverage, unless it's mead.
-Flips out when no mead is available.
-Cornball, overly dramatic, and just generally goofy.

Angus grimaced as she recognized the shrill voice and the air-headed chittering of the owner's own little cheerleading section. It appeared that Shameless Shayliss had decided it was time to torment her again. It was said, really, the girl was older than she was by a year, and it seems that Ven's doting on his surviving daughter had created a spoiled brat in a woman's curvaceous body.

Still, Hemlock had made it clear what would happen if she decided to loosen Shayliss' teeth again.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

"What can I help you with, Shayliss," Angus said as pleasantly as she could. Today had been going well, until a minute ago, so it was actually quite pleasant.

"I was wondering if you really are a girl, after all, you seem awfully scrawny, and Angus is a boy's name, isn't it," Shayliss continued in that grating voice that caused Angus to feel the urge to just tell her off and be done with it, but she was trying not to cause trouble after the fiasco with Cyrdak Drokkus and that mystery potion.

"Yes, Shayliss, I am," she says while her left eye twitches, "If that's all you wanted, I'll be on my way."

"Oh, of course you'd say that, but I want proof," Shayliss says in a mocking, coyingly sweet voice, "You don't seem to busy, so why not let us have a peek?"

"Oh, come now," Shayliss says as she begins to come closer, "there's no one here but us, and it'd be quick. Just a peek and we'd be satisfied."

"I said, no, Shayliss, now if you'll be so kind as to leave me alone, I'll be on my merry way," Angus grates out through gritting teeth. Her temper is beginning to fray its leash, and a dangerous flicker flares in her gray eyes.

"What's the matter? Got something to hide," Shayliss calls out, only a foot and a half away. Her hangers-on moving to cut off any escape from their leader. "C'mon Mangus! If you won't show us, we'll have to take a look ourselves!"

Angus stares in disbelief as Shayliss' posse closes in and Shayliss reaches out and gropes her bosom.

Hemlock rubs his eyes as five young women stand in front of his desk. Four wear tattered clothing that was once quite fine and sport an impressive array of bruises. The fifth only has a little dust on the knees of her pants and skinned knuckles from giving the other four those impressive bruises.

"I need a friggin' drink," he mutters before looking up.

"Angus, what have I told you about knocking Shayliss' teeth out."

"Don't," the woman with dusty-kneed pants and skinned knuckles replies.

"Exactly, now I've got to take a few guards with me to let Ven know his daughter has been involved in a case of sexual harassment and battery. And you," Sheriff Hemlock growls as he turns on Shayliss and her gang, "You lot should have known better than to rile her up like that. I have five witnesses saying that you four harassed and then surrounded Angus before she so much as laid a finger on you, and another two also saying that you threatened to strip her if she didn't do it herself before groping her. What were you thinking?!"

The silence stretched awkwardly into minutes as Belor glared at the four women.

"Uh, sir?"

"Yes Angus?"

"Should I just see myself to the usual cell," the ulfen woman asks meekly.

Sheriff Belor Hemlock's face is hidden by his palm as he waves for on of the guards standing at the door to escort Angus to the cellblock.

"Thank you, sir," she says before following the guard out.

Well, that turned out to be a monster of a sample.

GM Mathpro...I just want to make sure, since Azure's list notes which characters have aliases created--do you want us to provide those? It's easy enough to do, and I'd hate to hurt my chances for something so small. But I also have lots of unused aliases littering my profile. :P

I can't speak for this DM, of course, but from other recruitments i have seen: Some DM's prefer if you have ONE concept you really want to play and can get inside the concept properly(as in, that IS the role you want. that IS the kind of character you want, with the personality you want for it.)

Rather than throw 3 or 4 concepts in on the chance that one of them gets picked(surely all fine concepts by themselves but suggest you don't really care WHAT you play as long as you GET to play).

Surely not true for all recruitments, just saying it can backfire too if the DM is not convinced you would play all those characters with equal care and "feeling". Maybe not my place to hand out such "advice" but it's meant as a sincere way of saying think about the pros and cons, please don't take it the wrong way.

Norv, it doesn't appear that's a big issue (though I certainly sympathize with your concern about it!).

Good luck, all! As always, I don't envy you your choice, Mathpro. It's always tough to winnow down a lot of good options in recruitment.
