First off let me get some expectations out of the way.
1-XP: I do not hand out xp at the end of an encounter or for role playing or anything like that. I will track where you guys are and tell you at appropriate times when to level. I'm pretty sure this is standard for pbp's but for those of you who are new to pbp or have DM's that do it differently I wanted/needed to clarify.
2-Graphic/Adult themes: I'm pretty sure we're all adults here but I just want to remind people this is a public forum which children do access and our game is not locked. There are parts of this adventure path that get very adult themed, especially with the relationship tracker system which will be explained in a later post...when we get to a point where "the deed" happens there we will hint at whats going on and then we move on. I am okay with light adult humor but nothing to graphic please or our game will be removed.
3-Combat Maps:I will be using Google Maps for combat maps.
If there is ever anything said or done in game that makes any of you uncomfortable(like my dialog in the game thread my last post) please please please let me know or the person who posted it know and it will be removed/remedied. Please lets be mature about things and if people are offended by what is said lets respect that boundary and not hide behind the 1st amendment here.

Secondly I want to let you guys know what my posting habits are. Due to circumstances beyond my control I only post from work. I might slip in a post from home every now and then but it is RARE and should not be counted on.
I work Monday-Friday from 11-3. Hours very per day but I am always able to post from 11-3 CST so I just give that as my window. Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays are better for me because I am free to post as much as I want those days. Monday and Wednesdays I have classes I assist in so I should be up helping students...though I've been on my butt all day today lol.
Gkirkhan |
Hello. Glad to be here and I hope all of you find Gkirkhan funny rather than annoying. The plan is for him to be the big slab of meat for the rest of you guys to hide behind. Of course, him being the character that I made him, he's a rather offensive piece of meat. :D

Please check out the spoilers in the campaign information section of this game as it has some very important information on the relationship system of this game, the relationship tracker chart I will create will also be uploaded to the campaign information section, as well as bio's for the NPC's you will be traveling with. I will also copy and past the rules I shared above into the campaign information section because now that I think about it thats where it should have gone in the first place lol.
Talin Vhiski |
I am really looking forward to this, looking at the roles for this, my druids tend to be a bit more melee but i can adapt for sure, I was going to dip monk a bit but that will probably depend on role.
I assume as the divine/assault in this group we need me to focus on a more buff/healing role?
DM Mathpro |
So I have a question for you guys. It is possible to start dating relationships with NPC's in this game. But being that we're in a public forum and PBP is a slow medium this mechanic, which is optional anyway, might slow things down a bit do you guys want to keep the romance option in play or just scrap it? Keep in mind if we keep it my rule 2 from above is in force.
Talin Vhiski |
My character is the younger brother of Sandru Vhiski. He was abandoned and spent the last few years tracking down his heritage through a scarf left with him as a baby. The trail led him to Sandpoint where he would have sought out Sandru to learn more about his past. This would also put him into an association with Jubrayl, Sandru and Talin's older brother who leads the Sczarni in Sandpoint.
I imagine that Sandru would be somewhat overprotective while Talin is probably intent on learning as much about his past.
Otherwise, Talin would probably share a connection with Shalelu on the professional level so I could imagine them becoming friends.
Gkirkhan |
Sandru was the one who hired Gkirkhan, so it's more of a professional relationship. Gkirkhan's Charisma is 14.
As for the other NPCs, that depends on how things go, although both Shalelu and Ameiko are likely to find themselves on the receiving end of Gkirkhan's advances at some point.
*Gets on GMing Soapbox (feel free to ignore, this is just my two cents.)*
As for the relationship mechanic, I'd ditch it and just RP it out. If the character wouldn't go for it anyway, it doesn't make sense to force it because of a mechanic (although you could say that the mechanic determines whether they go for it.) PCs and NPCs are people and when you start mixing relationships and people, you get a mess more complicated than any single number, or reasonable set of numbers, is going to be capable of modeling.
*Gets off GMing soap box.*
All that said, Gkirkhan's a recent arrival in Sandpoint and hasn't gotten a chance to know everyone just yet.
Lem Ingram |
I'm fine with the mechanic. As for relationship stuff, at some point I'll probably try for all for NPCs, but for now . . . Lem worships Shalelu, so I'll try for a friendship there and he's pretty jealous of Sanduru, so I'll try a rivalry there. My starting Charisma is 8.
As for roles, I'll definitely be ranged assault, but--especially as I gain levels--I'll generally be more up close and personal with my arrows.

Monday through Friday will be easiest for me as well. Though mine will mostly be before work--4AM to 6AM MST--right after work--3PM to 4PM MST--or after my kids are asleep--9PMish
Vera Thaddeus |
My starting charisma is 14 and my trait is Friend of the Family. The Mvashti's were old friends of her parents and she has likely known Koya most of her life as a result. She will be very protective of Koya as a result of the deathbed promise she made to Niska. As for the other NPCs, I will mostly let the chips fall where they may. However, I imagine she would at least try to be friendly with everyone.
I've fine with either using the mechanic or just resolving it via RP.
Giovanni Xando |
For the record of you would rather just role play out the relationships rather than the system I can live with that also. I do want to take the time to get to know the characters though. Those NPCs are what makes Jade Reagent (from what I hear) and is one of the main reasons I've always wanted to save this AP for PBP.
Lem Ingram |
Looking at backgrounds, it looks like Yuto, Giovanni and I all grew up in Sandpoint, whereas the rest have traveled there recently. In a town like Sandpoint, it wouldn't be hard to assume we knew one another before, though the last time Lem was there (he left for a while after all the rotrl stuff) he was confrontational and rude, so your not likely to have good impressions of him.
Giovanni Xando |
For those of you who grew up in standpoint, you would likely know Giovani as well. In a nutshell, you would likely think of him as a weird bookworm with poor social skills. (I am intending to play him as mildly autistic.) You may also know he was pulled from the public schooling to be privately tutored by his parents a decade and a half ago. He is a young man by wizard standards, being only 25 years in age.

GO CALCULUS!
*Calculus II trauma flashbacks*
Regarding backgrounds:
Vera has probably been in Sandpoint for at least a month or two. There would be a good chance that she has met Talin, since Sandru is Koya's adopted son and Vera was essentially there to take care of Koya's mother. She may have met others around town, especially if they know Koya or Sandru.
Talin Vhiski |
Damn I need to review my integral calculus I am not sure how to do that anymore.
When I wrote tests I always loved to include answers like:
I. A & B
J. A, B, D and E
K. All of the above except F.
L. None of the Above, except A.
Yuto Yukimura |
Those who grew up in Sandpoint and know Yuto, you know him as a rather laid-back and friendly individual who left town for quite a while. He tends to do these crazy morning training routines, doing crunches while hanging upside down from trees and one handed pushups and the like.
Talin Vhiski |
I like the tie into Rise of the Runelords, especially the part where they have moved on and now others must take their place.
I am enjoying trying to figure out how my character would act in an inn situation as his background is much less civilized.
Talin Vhiski |
It is not about civilization it's about helping the wounded, he might react in exactly the same way to an injured squirrel or horse, albeit without the cheap useless conversation.
