GM-JZ |
Once a small village protecting the graves of its inhabitants’ respected ancestors, the town of Witherleaf is now little more than crumbling stone foundations and the occasional brick chimney still standing amid the burial mounds. The barrows once held the bodies of heroes from a war forgotten even before the Whispering Tyrant’s rise, but when the blight of Tar-Baphon corrupted those buried within, the villagers dug up the barrows to destroy their fell inhabitants.
Since then, no plants or crops have grown here, giving the village its name, and the skeletal arch of a witchgate stands like a grim monument to the fallen princes once buried here.
The broken and burnt bodies of a dozen or more people lie scattered among the ruins. You can read in the landscape the chaos of a desperate battle between the humans and a massive skeletal creature which left strange scorch marks tinged with the residue of negative energy.
The fortune teller dashes down among the ruined caravans and destroyed bodies and falls to her knees. Her wails ring out long and loud among the destruction.
Davos Bixby |
Entering the small village the stench of burnt flesh and burning wood lingers in the air using his long sleeve from his robe he covered his nose and mouth to help elimate the smell. As the women wails out, Davos does his best to ignore her and scan around incase the dragon is lurking nearby or it hears her screams to come back and finish what's left, he wanders over and looks over the witchgate

"It's a damned disgrace..." - Morbar grumbles at the dismaying sight, moving closer to Markus to offer his protection while he looks for tracks.
Caradwen |
Caradwen tries to keep her lips tight as the woman breaks down sobbing, and moves close to offer her some sort of support - "I..." - she stammers - "Do not despair. We will look for them, there is still hope" - she nods, then moves to aid the search - "You'll see"

Markus Valon |
Did I pick anything up?
"Stay close to her." He says above her cries, moving closer to the woman. "Your tears will do nothing for them now. Now you have to be brave, live for them we will face the thing that killed them soon."
GM-JZ |
You picked up the bodies of the fallen and the destroyed caravan. The place is utterly desolate now.
A thin mist rolls into the miserable barrows, accompanied by a persistent drizzle that soaks you to the skin.
A curse on you! the old fortune teller spits at Sir Gravis, and then at all of you. They'd be alive if it weren't for you and your meddling. You don't understand, you don't know ANYTHING! I took the demon for protection, it was a bargain struck that had nothing to do with any of you!
A curse on you. she says again. And all you f+!$ing do-gooders.
She kneels in the mud, cradling the broken body of a woman, her tears lost in the rain and the cold and filth making her seem all the more miserable.
Sir Gravis and his knights look defiant in the face of her lamentations, but equally, they say nothing.
Jon Moulton |
Markus - I don't think you can initiate a conversation with me. I have to make the link with you. At least that's how I think it works.
J - can I assume I have cast all my spells before we moved down here?
Morbar |
"Bah! So that is what we get fer tryin' ta help?!" - Morbar roars at the woman - "We get it! Ye accepted the bargain with tha demon ta protect the caravan, even though I still don't get what the HECK would they be doing out HERE in tha first place!" - he stomps toward her - "And after that?! What then?! Tha demon would still go on possessin' ya, and do whatever it wanted - did ye remember ta make it swear it would not make YOU hurt anyone else while it was in control? Did ye?! Includin your caravan friends?!" - he seems about to snap her in two - "Ye didn't, did ye?! Then you were just protectin' yer friends, to deliver them to an even worse fate- as a demon's playthings for how long he wanted. Ye get that, right you FOOL!? So just stop with the accusations, and think about what ye are saying for a moment!"
Markus Valon |
"She is stricken with grief, and it seems no matter the price she will delude herself." He places a hand on Morbar shoulder. "Leave her to it, we must seek out the vile thing that did this."
Can I make anything out of where it could have gone? Any lair type caves around
GM-JZ |
You can't make out any direction it might have gone Markus, it's likely to have flown away
Markus perception: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (15) + 29 = 44
Markus begins to notice that as the rain begins to fall more heavily, and the wind picks up, small flecks of green light can be seen in the mist. They start to become more prominent and intensify as Morbar and the old woman argue and soon Markus can make out ghostly faces in the rain that morph and twist in expressions of agony.

Jon stays silent as the woman rebukes them for intervening she was grieving and angry but what she did was wrong. Calling upon the demon for help was a mistake, and a costly one at that.
As Markus cries out his warning Jon glances up and sees the strange ghostly faces and he moves to his tercept them, his blade charged with energy hisses an vibrates as it crackles with power.
Drawing near to the apparitions he sweeps his blade through the undead thing.

Sorry I did post this but I obviously lost it.
Severe winds accompany these howling storms of eerily glowing, sickly green vapors that coalesce into images of ghostly, leering faces. Those exposed to these wailing phantasms must make a Will save or become panicked for 2d4 minutes. In addition, a living creature takes 3d6 points of negative energy damage every 10 minutes it is caught in the storm, supernaturally aged by exposure to the swirling spectres. A poltergeist storm can last up to an hour
GM-JZ |
Two of the knights move to grab the woman. She struggles against them but they get her to her feet nonetheless.
Round 1 - Enemy
The storm becomes more intense by the moment. The rain is driving now and the wind whips at your clothing but worse still are the leering ghostly faces that swoop in and among you, striking fear into your hearts.

Cara will: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
But this group has seen horrors that most have never dreamed of, and stand resolutely in the face of the poltergeist storm.
Then, two shadowy figures streak from the ruins some 50 feet away. They are dark patches of gloom with a vaguely human form, green fire runs along their bodies and they raise their hands to blast out eldritch flame toward the heroes.

Casting Waves of Exhaustion. Everyone can be caught in this massive cone so the entire group is now Exhausted
The two shadows are 50 feet away and 20 feet up in the air. The hag is 30 feet away but behind the cover of a broken wall which means she can't be charged.

He cannot however absorb the hideous sapping waves of energy that slam into him as the crone unleashes her damned spell and he gasps as the sudden crippling weakness spreads through him.

Through it all, the old woman sat and wept her loss.
