That is a shame, I really liked Larg.
Custarding foes is something that has made the leap from the internet and is now referenced in my home game.

HALLWAY WHAT DOTH THINE HIDE IN YOUR LENGTHS AND DEPTHS!?!
DICE!!: 10d20 ⇒ (10, 17, 18, 11, 15, 7, 10, 18, 9, 17) = 132
10- There is a new passageway
17- 4 way intersection (Hoo-boy these always result in interesting things.)
18- Passage way width is now 20ft
THINE DEPTHS HOLD MORE DEPTHS!
WHERE IS MINE LOOT CURSED HALLWAY!

I believe the next check we make is WME as that is Turn 6/6
WME?: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Oh hey, thats no good.
Starting distance?: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Not sure where it would be coming from, so I'll leave that part to our glorious GM.
CR )-2 as we are on L5: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (5) - 2 = 3
DIIICCEEE: 2d20 ⇒ (19, 7) = 26
1d100 ⇒ 9
3= APL+2
19= Table 3
9 on table 3= A group of aberrations
CR 6?
I'm going to hope it isn't mimics.

I am up, but not out of the woods (first antibiotic failed, on the second one now) and I could not stay in bed any longer, so I got up and went to work yesterday. I started updating games, but quickly ran out of energy. I am at it again today.
I'm having my doubts about the future of this game, yeah I know I've complained before, but it seems that Misty, Bud and Praink have absolutely no interest in generating the dungeon, which leaves it all on Tofutee (granted there is enthusiasm there, but maybe some of that enthusiasm is driving the others to not consider participating, I'm not sure).
An I will delete Larg from the roster today.
It's supposed to be "fun" to generate the dungeon, but if only one player want's to do that, what's the point?
Misty Prominence |
Honestly, when I signed on, I saw the 'roll up the dungeon' as something very different. I didn't expect to be handed the book and told 'go do it'. I expected you'd just want us to roll the dice for you, and you'd go through your information and build the room. Knowing what's coming hurts, spelling out what's coming while trying to hop through a document that my computer hates makes it... painful.
I do feel that I was rather mistaken in joining this game, now. It seemed like a light-hearted romp that I could do in my spare time. I liked the idea of being helpful and rolling, but I don't like having to juggle the document. I also am having trouble connecting to the character (and other characters) as anything more than a running joke. I usually opt for games with strong narratives, rather than games that simply 'are'. I'm sorry that I've caused your game to be less fun. :( I think it'd have been better if the posting rates had been better (spending 3 weeks on a combat that lasts 3 rounds (hyperbole), is hard).
Also, though, don't forget that Larg had a considerable portion of the party's treasure up to this point on his chest and on his back. It may just be better to go back topside, give the loot back to the party that's going to continue (via following larg) and then replace the folks that aren't digging it anymore.
Tofutee |
Could have sworn it was a 6. But fair enough I like the option of not getting eaten by mimics.
I've seen Bud do generation before and indicate an interest but I can agree that my desire to see the dungeon unfold rapidly has likely been squashing some interest. I have been trying to avoid doing that for the last little while.
Tofutee |
I'd prefer not to lumber you with the whole thing but if it means everyone can be involved again I'm willing to go for it.
Bud Wiser |
I enjoy making the rolls. My main problem is that on the days I work I don't get much of a chance of doing it all. I think the idea of you generating the dungeon from our rolls may be more "surprising" than us doing it. I mean we roll a trap, then we know there's a trap, same with treasure and monsters. Only thing that is a surprise is the exact kind of monsters. It's hard for me not to metagame sometimes. I'll proceed any way you like. If you don't want it all on you, and I can understand that DMing myself some, I'll be happy to roll and make the next step
To Misty's comment about not being able to connect; I view this as a very light hearted running joke. It's part of it's charm. No one takes anything too seriously. I've got enough of games like that. I think all of Terquem's games would be called fun. I know our goblin game is a blast. We just smeared a team of NPCs in laser tag. It was awesome, but not serious.
Misty Prominence |
I guess that makes this the first campaign I've ever left. I'm just not enjoying myself, and the post about 'not wanting to make decisions' was a little too close to home with the issues presently at hand (so... it wasn't really funny, it just felt spiteful). I'll be going, and I appreciate the opportunity. I'm sorry that it just wasn't for me and that as a result, I've wasted your time.
Bud Wiser |
Periodic Check: 1d20 ⇒ 3 The Passageway continues straight ahead. Check this table again after 60’.
Periodic Check: 1d20 ⇒ 7 There is a Door.
Door: 1d20 ⇒ 10 2 Doors – Always on the left and right, passageway continues straight 30’
Door 1: 1d20 ⇒ 5 Portcullis, Metal
Locked: 1d20 ⇒ 6 Locked
Trapped: 1d20 ⇒ 19 Not Trapped
Door 2: 1d20 ⇒ 8 Portcullis, Metal
Locked: 1d20 ⇒ 3 Locked
Trapped: 1d20 ⇒ 20Not Trapped

Thanks Bud
Misty - I'm glad you made a decision you are comfortable with. I'm not really sure what I was supposed to do as the DM of this game and posting that there was an intersection, and then five days later no one has made a decision about what direction to go. It wasn't supposed to be funny, but it wasn't meant to be spiteful either. I just really wanted to know what the group was going to do. Good luck - have fun in whatever game you find yourself in.
Really, what was I supposed to do?
Bud Wiser |
I was waiting for a final word on how we were going to roll out the dungeon. It still seemed to be up in the air to me.
I don't mind rolling out what's next, as long as everyone is ok with my missing something until I get a better grasp of it.
We recruiting again?
Misty Prominence |
Also, though, don't forget that Larg had a considerable portion of the party's treasure up to this point on his chest and on his back. It may just be better to go back topside, give the loot back to the party that's going to continue (via following larg) and then replace the folks that aren't digging it anymore.
This was the most recent suggestion of what we should probably do, to my knowledge. I do not know about the others, but I as waiting on you to make a decision as to what you wished to do.
Terquem |
Well, I am sort of a little afraid to recruit again. It seems I didn't make it clear how this works the last time.
I was just waiting for someone to declare a direction, and then I was going to set out on a new way of asking for the rolls, but that didn't work out.
By the way, any time you find a Portcullis, all you have to do, in the game, is announce you are looking through it, and that will drive me right to rolling what is on the other side of the Portcullis.
Tofutee |
Oh, uh ok.
I was in the same boat, I was unsure what the next step was in that.
As to recruitment I'll see what I can do to snag some folks I know are reliable posters that like fiddly bits and jokes.
@Bud your rolls look solid to me.
@Misty. Sad to see you go but it is for the best if you are not enjoying yourself.
@Game
We might want to catch larg. the mule back cords were a group purchase for carrying loot and larg was well carrying all the loot.
Tofutee |
Thunderbeard is amusing.
rolls: 5d20 ⇒ (10, 6, 9, 7, 5) = 37
10 New passageway.
6 side passage/ Left
9 10ft width
where?: 1d6 ⇒ 4
40ft down the passage we are currently in.
Tofutee |
No worries misty. It was good of you to stick it out for as long as you have. I know you voiced concerns about becoming less interested in the campaign a while ago.
Terquem |
I am going to try to get a post up to collect all the discoveries that have been made and get the party moving again. I sent a PM to Praink, but as of yet there has been no response
recruiting is getting some nibbles, but I am worried that players come to the game because "monsters" and don't take the time to learn about the game and that will lead to more dissatisfied players.
Terquem |
Stair width
Width of Stair on north side: 1d20 ⇒ 17
15 foot wide stair
passageway width
width of passageway on south side: 1d20 ⇒ 5
10 foot wide passage way
Okay I am building a game post now
Praink has said that he would like to try and give the game another chance.
Here is what I am proposing.
I will make game posts and at the bottom of each post there will be an italic post asking for a die roll and why. I will indicate a player who I would like to make the roll, and unless that player is away from the game I expect the roll to be made in in the next 24 hours. If that roll needs further rolls for clarification, I will make them myself.
Hopefully this will move things along at a better pace, but let’s see how it works
Terquem |
Praink has rolled a discovery of one or more Chambers
How many?: 1d20 ⇒ 2
There is only one chamber, and it is straight ahead
For the moment we will establish how big it is, but we will not roll for contents or exits, until the party decides to examine it closer.
Size?: 1d20 ⇒ 14
A 40' x 50 ' chamber
Tofutee |
contents: 1d20 ⇒ 19
Special content
1d20 ⇒ 16
A monster? no description of CR assume CR = party level?
content type: 1d20 ⇒ 19
A Grotto (doesn't look like that table exists yet. in my copy of the apend A
Anyone feel like rolling a monster? I've run out of time before work.
Terquem |
A Grotto! have never had one of those come up, so now it's time to create a Grotto Table
So, a Grotto contains a Natural Pool
Natural Pool Type: 1d20 ⇒ 18
and something else (d6, 1-3 Statue, 4-6 Altar)
Hmmm?: 1d6 ⇒ 6
An Altar,
Altar of Mystery: 1d20 ⇒ 3
And then the Grotto itself will be under the effects of a Permanent Magical Spell of some Kind (I’m open to suggestions)
Oh, and there is a Monster Guarding the grotto. We will generate the CR exactly as if any other Monster Encounter has occurred (remember a -2 modifier applies here because APL < DL)
CR?: 1d20 ⇒ 8
8 -2 = 6 so CR=APL+2, another CR 6 encounter
Tofutee |
here's an idea
A mystic band of sea creatures burst out of the pool and start playing a song so enthralling you cant help but sing and dance along?
Global confusion effect on the grotto
You could make the type of music a dice roll or up to the GM perhaps make the type of music decide the actions people take.
Terquem |
I've decided to rebuild, and fully revise the "Special Contents" section of the document to incorporate these ideas
Each Special Content will have 4 different results
For Pools and Statues, the effects will be two that are harmful to the character and two that are helpful to the character
An Altar will have four different results that can undo effects from Pools and Statues
The Magical Effects of a Grotto are almost finished.
The New Revision should go live in the next day or so, and I will post when I have changed the document in the link above.
Tofutee |
Let us hope the combination we just got with a Grotto, a natural pool and an Altar turn out to at least break even.
I am also now imagining this group of kobolds as the midget lizard version of the harlem globetrotters. Here's hoping they challenge us to a contest of ball spinning rather than trying to murder us.
Tofutee |
Depending on how well we deal with this group of enemies we might also have a chance to try out the "interrogate a monster" option I remember had been tossed about as an idea a while back. These little lizard guys are decidedly going to be allergic to death.
Terquem |
First – I stoopidly went ahead and like a sheeple, bought fully into the Windows 10 upgrade, and now I am desperately trying to get one of my computers to behave (the other two I did not upgrade, one running 7, the other running 8.1) unfortunately the new revision of the Appendix “A” Document is saved on the one that is not working properly. In the interim, while I try to recover, I’ll just go ahead with this Chamber as if I knew what I was doing.
Second – I am going to invite a player with a fighter build into the game. We still need a regular Cleric
