Niversal scakes back up the stairs and climbs up huffing a bit saying something wrong with the stairs very steep and angled but I dod not see traps so... .there is a door at the bottom without a lock and its noticably colder down there as well... and then Niversal prepares to go back down and does.

Turning to the others, Do ya think we should jas 'ead down? Looking at the steps Ballar grimaces at their odd descent. Clearly these steps were meant for an individual with abnormally long legs and not the normal sort, such as those commonly found on dwarfs. The cleric sighs then commits, Migh'tas well get thas over with.

Ballar joins Niversal at the bottom of the steps.

Ballar, follows Niversal down the steep stair, grumbling every bit of the way, but at least he is satisfied the stair is solidly built and not in danger of collapsing.

While Zeahyra watches Ballar’s descent from the top of the stairs to be sure it is safe. It wont be easy for a large feline to maneuver these stairs at all.

At the bottom of the stair, at the small flat landing, Niversal puts his shoulder to the large door and shoves. The door groans ominously, but the sound is muffled by the cramp confines of the area.

When the door is opened Niversal sees that it has opened on a passageway corner. There is a five foot wide passageway going directly away from this open door that ends turns at less than a ninety degree angle to the right, some fifteen feet away, and immediately on the right is another passageway going to the right at a ninety degree angle to the door, into darkness…

So we are at the top of the map, in the passage angled towards the east?

For no apparent reason, Ballar follows behind the sneaky elf dragging the chain to his dorn along the floor as he goes. Never fully understanding the concept of sneaki-ness, Ballar silently hopes Niver's skills at sneaking around will somehow mask the ungodly loud noise his chain is making as it echoes throughout the passage. CLANG. CLANG. CLANG.

Niversal moves to the northeast, and when he rounds the corner he comes face to face with an old wooden door, with a bar across it keeping it locked shut from this side. He leans left and right, to get a good look at the door and its frame, and can see no sign of traps.

Ballar comes walking up slowly behind Niversal, the sound of the chain-like weapon dragging on the floor startles Niversal a bit, who turns around to see Ballar who only shrugs.

While looking behind him, Niversal notices that Zaehyra and Keryth are not there.

Turning back to where Niversal had been standing and no longer seeing the elf, Ballar takes a sip from his tankard and mutters, Cayden give me strength,. Wiping a bit of white foam from his beard the dwarf dips into Cayden's stream of divine energy. With the taste of ale lingering on his tongue, Ballar's eyes cross then glaze over as they examine the door.

The room seems so quiet, almost serene, There are no sounds of creaking armor, or weapons slapping against things. No loud breathing, panting, or nacho munching can be heard. Then, out of nowhere you hear the sound of a heavy object being dragged a short distance from above you.

Hold on ta ya knickers lass, seeing nothing fishy, Ballar, perhaps foolishly, removes the bar from the door calling back to Zae, Aye lass, it opens, then opens the portal.

Ballar shouts back to Zae that he can open the door in front of him, and then he opens it, only to see a short section of passageway that is blocked by what appears to be a cave in.

Buried in the rubble ahead, on the left wall you see what might have been a ladder, made of iron rungs embedded in the wall and going up, into what must have been a sort of escape tunnel going up, somewhere, which has now collapsed down into this passageway

Keryth looks up at the ceiling. He sees a not uncommon wooden construction of beams supporting a wooden floor of the room above him. There is nothing unusual about the sound of a piece of furniture being dragged across the floor above him, and he waits to hear if there are any footsteps, but there are none

Seeing only the caved in section of passageway Ballar hmphs, Hmph. Looks like a dead-en.

I'm a little confused about the lower level map. The stairs is where we descended, the green at -D-27 is a door we just opened(?) and the passage leading south to C-22 is the cave in(?) or is that past the green bar at -H-18?

The passageway goes about 40 feet and then turns a forty five degree angle to the left and then it stops being a worked stone passageway and becomes a natural cavern. The walls of this cavern glisten with a strange reflective quality

Calling up to Zae from the bottom of the steps he shouts, Oi! Nivers as found a stack o'scrolls! Glow'n like mad too! Ah can-no read'em, noth'n but magical jibb'rish!

Heading back Ballar pats the halfling on the back, Alright Nivers, leas...Hang-on a minute! Weren't you a pointy ear'd elf a minute ago!?

We can wait till your eyesight returns again before pressing on further or blindfold you through to the stairs. That is, unless there is something more than you let on to why you want to wait here. Alone. While trying to prove a point. I mean, you willingly walked past a brown mold knowing it would harm everyone before. This isn't much different is it?"

Prostrating her hands on her hips and shifting her weight to one foot, she halfheartedly asks, "What will it take to convince you it is better to remain together and get to you come with us?"

It was temporary that time. Can you be so sure about the next time? Regardless, it is a matter of principle. I shall not willingly step foot inside a temple consecrated by a god who condones, vandalism and desecration without provocation or determination, and blinds bystanders as a byproduct of "religious" events.

There is more to explore on this floor, and likely another way to the floor below. I shall wait here, or perhaps do some exploring of my own up here. If you wish to continue in that direction I will not stop you.

Upon rejoining the others, Zae shrugs greeting them, Keryth is refusing to join us on principle. He refuses to enter the temple room, but he said he would wait for us."

Ballar looks at the elf like he's gone mad, Bloody hell! As he forgott'n bout those stairs!
Next he eyes Zae as though she'd gone similarly mad, although truthfully he can't find a good enough reason at the moment. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that she is the bearer of bad news. Remembering the cardinal rule, "Never split up," Ballar relinquishes himself to the wizard's principles.
There's no point. We stick tageth'r. End o'discussion.

Back up the stairs goes Niversal with the others right past Keryth to explore the hallway sneaking a look at it

The sound of Dwarven curses echoing up the stairs signal the imminent arrival of the cleric...or the soon arrival...sometime in the near future? Eventually, Ballar struggles up the last of the steps. Panting he takes a moment to rest at the feet of the Saint maiden Barbaralee and wipes the beads of sweat from his visage. After a few moments, he furls his red brow and stands up. The sound of Zae and the big cat draws his attention to those accursed stairs and he realizes no one remembered to close the door down there and by simple deduction replace the wooden bar locking it and whatever was or might have been behind it, Aa! Fa Cry'n out!

Ten minutes later...the sound of a few new Dwarven curses echoing up the stairs signals the imminent arrival, again, of the cleric...or the soon arrival...sometime in the near future.... Fatigued, Ballar makes his way to where all the antiques are stored, and Keryth, where he manages to catch his breath.

Ballar shuts and locks the door downstairs with the wooden bar then rejoins Keryth and the party while Niversal searches the halls.

After some exploring, the party is once again together. They stand in the furniture storage room, and look at a corridor going south into the darkness beyond.

I heard a loud thud and the sound of something being dragged across the floor above us, he shrugs. Otherwise nothing else has happened while you were below.

Niversal comes back from the hallway reporting about a turn in the hall and then goes to the south door in this room and simply without fanfare pries it open looking in.

Niversal “pops” open the door and peers into the room beyond.
Behind him the others look over his shoulder.

The room is large, some fifty feet wide and forty feet deep, with a door in the southwest corner of the room. It appears as though this was once a barracks, or perhaps a guard post. There are many pieces of broken furniture strewn about the room. Nothing here looks interesting, or of any value.
