Thrown through, okay more like stepped through, a mysterious portal the adventurers find themselves on another world looking for a way back home, or a good taco stand, whichever comes first...

I will post a full description of the starting area in the Game Thread, and then here I will ask for rolls to start the construction. You can also use this thread to ask questions or discuss strategies.

RE: GMs queries in Gameplay Thread
My thoughts on Marching Order:
1. Rogue 2. Fighter 3. Wizard 4. Cleric
I can use dancing lights hands-free to illuminate a pretty sizable chunk (roughly 50' square, using the "four torches" application of the spell) at good range (up to 110' from me). This allows PC-free scouting as far as line of sight or 160', whichever is less, and also allows the front lines to have hands free light.
I will have my bow in hand, off hand free to grab an arrow or cast spells as required.
Backpack on back: Bedroll, Grappling arrows (2), Hooded lantern, waterproof, Spellbook, Trail rations (4), Wandermeal (12), Oil (4), Arrows (30)
Spell component pouch on belt (front and center)
Sword on left hip.
Quiver on right hip: Arrows (20)
Added Adventurer's Sash containing: Potion of cure light wounds, Alchemist's fire (3), waterskin, Oil, 4 GP, 2 SP, 4 CP

That's right. Toss the healer in the back where the monsters in the shadows can grab her XD

Marching Order: "I should go first, because these guys--" the halfling hooks a thumb at the party--"are bumbling idiots and liable to drop us all in a pit, eaten by a dragon, or even worse--miss treasure!" Darmo pauses, thinking... "As for them, a meat shield--I mean, combat adept ready to jump in front of me isn't a bad plan. The wizard looks like he'd die fast--no offense--so put them in the middle. Guess that leaves our cleric in the back." If you'd like my opinion in a song... Click here!
Light Source: "Let's see... I've got some sunrods here, but that's it. I work well enough when people can't see me, though." Though it'd be nice to compensate for that at some point... a darkvision magic item would definitely be on a wish list.
Hands: "Easy--this little poker right here." The halfling fingers the hilt of his sword. "Can't say I'm great in a fight, but I get along. Ideally, I'll be pointing out the baddies so Miss Big Tough and Armored there can run 'em through."
Gear: "I've got my pack, which keeps my tools at the ready, and inside there is a waterproof bag with my rations. Waterskin in there, too. Sword on my right, sling tucked in the back of the belt along with the pouch o' rocks, and the cloak keeps it all tucked away. As you can see, I've got some spiffy little armor on, but no boots--boots are for idiots. Big, loud ones who tend to get killed."

Marching Order: Okay, fine...I'm in the rear. Cute little rogue sings a convincing song.
Light Source: Relying on others with my low-light vision. I'll have light prepared for my glaive, instead of purify food and drink, if necessary.
Gear: I'll have my glaive in both hands. My backpack carries most of my gear and the bucket is hooked over it. The crossbow is slung over my right shoulder and the bolts on the left.

By the way, I think this is your bucket.

Never underestimate the value of a bucket.

"Rogue in front. He can find anything that's going to spring out at us. Then I go and smack anything that pops up with my sword. Or whatever. Then the squishy, and healer in the back. But you better be keepin' me alive!"
"I got sunrods and tingertwigs if we have some torches, but I figure somebody's got a spell..."
"In my hands I'll have my sword. And anything else that's handy."
"On my back is my backpack - attached is a bedroll, and all my s@%%'s stuffed inside. Anything that don't fit is danglin' off the sides. I got my combat items on my belt - grease, alchemist fires, an' stuff like that. Probably pretty loud when I walk though."
Incidentally, Cat is not heavily armored - she's a Cad, so she's wearing leather armor.

"I agree on the 'loud' part, so let me clarify--when I say I'm in front, I mean by a few dozen feet."

Okay, I'm back. Finishing up the monster encounter tables tonight, and I will get the first game post up soon, so that the four of you can start rolling dice to build the dungeon and making decisions on what you are going to do.
Male Halfling Rogue (filcher) 2
"Thank the gods! They nearly caught me!"
male
Darmo I need to be reminded about your trapfinding abilities, here in the Discussion Thread, often. The random tables will generate traps (and tricks, which can act like traps) so I want to make sure you are getting the full use of the rules should they pop up, thanks.
Male Halfling Rogue (filcher) 2
Basically, I can find any traps regardless of DC, and I get a bonus on Perception to find them and Disable Device equal to half my level. I don't believe I have any auto-find abilities (which would, admittedly, be very nice).
male
So then,if you do not specifically say you are "Searching for Traps" I can assume the trap kil... I mean you don't find it, is that correct?
Female Human Fighter (Cad) 2
If I get killed by a trap, I'mma haunt the halfling. :D
Male Halfling Rogue (filcher) 2
Let's just say Darmo's typical adventuring will be "Take 20 on Perception, and attempt to disable any traps found."
"I don't care HOW slow you think we're going! If you want to find traps with your meaty ol' self, go ahead!"
Female Human Fighter (Cad) 2
"Meaty!? MEATY!? ARE YOU SAYING I'M FAT?!?!?"
Male Halfling Rogue (filcher) 2
"Compared to me, everyone is. I meant the muscle."

Oh, you're one of THOSE people...
Maybe the beard wasn't strong enough...
:D
Flexing his bicep, the wizard cocks an eyebrow at the halfling.
"You may be short enough to step over, but less muscular than I? Hardly." he sneers, as though somehow having less muscle mass than a halfling was something to be proud of.
Male Halfling Rogue (filcher) 2
"She's the muscle. You're just tall, and even MORE likely to get killed without me looking out for you."
male
I am a bit conflicted on the "take 20" aspect of searching for traps. On the one hand, I like it if it carries a penalty, which in most cases is a time penalty, which works for me. On the other hand, I don't know how to make it work. It seems it works out to be a positive/negative absolute situation. Either the rogue will detect a trap in every instance before it can go off, if the DC is 28 or less, or the rogue has no chance of detecting the trap before it goes at all,if the dc is 29 or higher which I don't like.
I'm going to think about this for the time being, assume that Darmo is cautiously searching for traps to the best of his ability, and will most likely spot any common trap that occurs before it can be set off accidentally, and then rely on the chance that the trap is not disarmed, as the random factor that could be dangerous to the party, until I can think of another way to do this. This means that unless the party is distracted by something (most likely an encounter) there is practically no way they can blunder into a common pit trap.

Door Type!: 1d20 ⇒ 18
As a side note, traps have always confused me. Either there's no way to find them (no rogue in the party) or the rogue isn't looking in most instances cause there wasn't traps in the last dungeon ... or we spend two years doing the first two rooms because it just makes sense to take 20 in a place one knows has traps. I'm no help with the solution to this, unfortunately. TLDR: I feel your pain on this particular problem.
Female Human Fighter (Cad) 2
What's on the other side?: 1d20 ⇒ 11

Nature of the stairs: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Male Halfling Rogue (filcher) 2
Hinges: 1d20 ⇒ 20
Width of Stairs: 1d20 ⇒ 10
I also see the problem with the method. Maybe I take 20 and that finds just usual things, but I have to roll for traps? I'd be fine doing that.
I can also just stop taking 20 all the time.
Locked? 1d20 ⇒ 6
WME. 1d6 ⇒ 4
RE: taking 20.
Quote: When a character or creature has plenty of time, and is not faced with threats or distractions, and the skill being attempted carries no penalties for failure, he/it can take 20. Instead of rolling 1d20 for the check, just calculate the result as if the die had rolled a 20. PFSRD
I'd say not finding a trap constitutes a penalty for failure, so no Take 20 on searching for traps.
male
Yeah, you'd think that, but then the same PFSRD states, in the "Perception" skill description that you can, in fact, take 20 to search for traps, it is mind boglowing.
