Misha punches Logan right in the face. I jest... fortunately as fellow prisoners they've already plenty friendly towards you guys, and your terrible Dip rolls have no ill effects.

Misha and her group are healthy looking. Only Misha herself is anywhere close to old, the rest look somewhere between 20 and 30. They all wear ragged, somewhat dirty clothing of similar cut.

The crew YOU guys came in with are as follows: there are 6 of them, one female. Health and clothing still in good shape and nothing especially noteworthy about them. Then of course, there are the named NPC's Vincent, Yllaine, and Lara.

Before Misha Gets Close Enough To Hear...:

You all agree before the other prisoners come close: you will keep the door a secret amongst yourself for now. "Never know," says Lara. "One of the others might be spying for Norren. That's how they do it in prisons back home."

"C'mon back to our little home, we can get acquainted as much as we please," Misha waves you all onward.

She and the other five previous prisoners (four male, one female) all seem like sailors. In the brief exchanged greetings you hear the Kulmaran accent on their tongues.

"Crew of a Kulmaran clipper we were. Our ship got hit hard by a storm and we ended up floating at sea for a couple days, the rest of our crew drowned. Suppose it's luck we were rescued at all, even if it was by a slaving pirate," Misha says. "Norren's got us digging a tunnel into the mountainside under the direction of one of his men. Won't say why. We've been at it for weeks, now."

Misha produces a flint and steel from her ragged clothes and sparks a fire in some stacked wood. The flames go a long way to abating the chill that is already creeping in with the darkness.

"It's the damndest thing, really. Norren's pirates treat us well enough, which is odd in itself even if welcome. I've still got me coin purse and everything - lot of good a few silvers does me here," Misha says as she jangles a pouch at her belt. "Never met a pirate as didn't want to steal."

The Hidden Door, Successes 1/3:

In a few unobserved moments away from the others, Luca inspects the door. Now that it has been pointed out to her she can see it, but only barely - it is very well hidden. It seems to be nothing more than an expanse of rock, just another part of the wall. There are no gaps or handles jutting out, pushing does nothing.

By knocking at various places on the wall around the door, Luca thinks she hears a faint echo in one spot - evidence of some kind of hollow, perhaps?

When Luca tells Vincent of this, he too slips away to take a look...
Vincent Know(Eng): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

But isn't able to figure anything out in the few brief minutes he has. "I'll look again later, when I can get more light."

Feel free to ask other questions of the other prisoners if you like. I'll answer them along with the next post, which will bring the morning.

Luca looked at the door, trying to memorize its position... and later, when others weren't around, the Void reached out through her. After gathering its power together, it pressed her hands against the ground, using her as a conduit and sending through one of its weakest servants. The being of choice? It was humanoid, barely - a monster with the head of an insect and thick, cloven feet. Despite its bulk, however, the creature was actually a fairly peaceful entity... and it simply merged with the stone, for the ground was what made up its own essence as well. "<Travel beyond the door. Report back, quickly."> the Void commanded. The Vilstrak shot forward, through the rock, and should have no trouble at all viewing what was just past the door. Of course, Luca wasn't yet strong enough for most of the Void's servants to stick around for too long, hence the emphasis on speed - go there, look around, come back, and quickly report what it saw.

The door probably couldn't be unlocked so easily from the other side, but at least the Void would know what to expect... and if Luca didn't have much in the way of duration for casting yet, she did have enough latent energy that quite a few servants could be sent over if that would help.

Summoning Mastery I: Summon Vilstrak. (It uses its Merge with Stone ability, then moves past the door and comes back as soon as it can see what's back there.

Once answered he will move on to other questions like: [b]"Norren mentioned goblins. Are they a threat? Do they allow us weapons to defend ourselves or do they do the protecting?"

And: "Is there some sort of schedule for work or is it based on rock moved?"

And: "Do they let us back into the town at any point?"

Logan just sits back letting the others talk knowing that his tongue can easily get tied. Letting those who had ideas bring them up to the group as a whole.

Luca:

The vilstrak materializes in front of you and receives your orders with a bob of its strange little head. It reaches out and touches the stone with a gentle caress before it pushes forward and in, disappearing into the wall.

Vilstrak Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

A few seconds later it returns, babbling in the strange tongue of the Void <Good tunnel, long tunnel. Empty smell, only bugs and crawling things> it says, just before the magic bindings come loose and it fades away from the Material Plane once more.

Dante wrote:

"Are you digging down or through? Maybe there is something on the other side of the mountain or within."

Misha nods. "They've got us going straight through, near as I can tell. Maybe up a bit. The man they've got us working under ain't much of an engineer, I don't think. He's always shaking his wrinkled bald head and muttering to himself at the head of the tunnel. And schedule? We work as long as we have any light. If ye don't swing your pick hard enough, or carry your share of the rubble out, they report it to the taskmaster and it don't count gainst your days of service. If'n you think that means anything." Misha spits a wad of phlegm onto the dusty stone floor.

"We haven't been back beyond that gate since we got here, but ye, they bring food through each morning and evening. They oughtta be showing up soon enough. I wouldn't expect that gut of yours to survive too many weeks in the tunnel, though!" Misha guffaws. "Father knows I had a bit more butter in my bread when we was taken. Only real break we get is in the evening here. The guards want to go back to their mugs of swill, so there's usually an hour or two of light left. Today was a longer day than most - much of the crew away grabbing you folks, I suppose."

"The gobbos... I'd swear I've seen there little eyes watching from the forest edge a couple a' nights. We keep a watch out and a fire light, with good brands ready to hand. Not sure if the pirates have any kind of watch on the woods, or maybe even some kinda agreement with the monsters. I just know I'm not trusting to either one, eh?"

The Hidden Door, Successes 2/3:

Nice rolls, Logan... only counting one success, though. ;)

Vincent and Luca tell Logan of the hollow-sounding spot, and he slips off to investigate as well, under the excuse of still wanting to explore his new "home." Knocking carefully on the wall, trying to follow the dull echo, he traces the hollowed portion around a corner and up to the ceiling, where a jointed archway stands above the corridor. Bit of a bonus due to a good Eng roll: Logan thinks hard, and after a few murmured words with Vincent realizes the hollow is probably holding the mechanisms which control the door - so the trick to opening it should at least be physical. Chances are there will be some sort of hidden switch.

One more success needed - you can make the rolls in the morning or later in the day (probably in the evening similar to now).

Fast-forwarding through the night... nothing of note happens! ... this time. ;)

After the pirates deliver a large vat of stew to the now-swelled group of prisoners, with Misha and her crew you all work out a fair watch schedule. Nobody's sleep is affected. The morning comes without incident.

When the pirates come again, there are eight or so burly guards accompanying your breakfast - the same thick barley stew and coarse brown bread that you had the night before. They bring along ten pickaxes, which Misha supervises doling out. She hands one to Vincent, Logan, Dante, and several of the crew. "The rest of you will be hauling buckets. Not as hard, just keep piling the stone on the boards at the edge of the cliff. We tip 'em at end of day."

Surprisingly, Kris is there amongst the guards. He gestures to Tyrus and Yllaine. "You two come with me, you're talking to the captain."

Lara steps forward. "Where she goes, I go!"

Kris just sneers. "Not this time."

Lara seems about to argue further, but Yllaine raises a hand to silence her. She pulls her close and whispers a few words into her ear, then turns away and nods to Kris. Lara looks frustrated, but makes no more moves to follow.

"The rest of you lot, follow me!" shouts a man who fits Misha's description of 'wrinkled' and 'bald.' "And you new lugs, get any funny business out of your head now. These brutes here won't hesitate to end your peaceful working days if you think you can find another way out."

IMPORTANT NOTE: Your armor has NOT been taken away from you, but a day of heavy labor in any kind of armor will take it's toll. If you try to work with your armor on, You need to make a DC 15 Constitution check with a penalty equal to the base AC bonus for each work phase (before noon and after noon). Fail one and you will be fatigued for the rest of the day. Fail both and you are exhausted and will require a further check to see how much you recover during your night's rest. Please state whether or not you are wearing your armor at the beginning of your post.

Neither Luca nor Fluffy uses armor.

Luca quietly ate the food that had been provided for her - it was a smaller portion than many of the others had, but then, she was a smaller person as well. She did look up at the man who was yelling at them, though, and the Other behind her eyes observed as well. Her Eidolon came trotting forward a moment later, moving ahead of her. It wasn't exactly talented at gripping pickaxes... but it was more than strong enough to simply bite down on ropes and drag loads along behind it, especially when they had wheels. Luca generally stayed just close enough to keep the connection open - whether it was helping her or not, she didn't want to get any nearer to the monster than she really had to.

Definitely not using armor. Then again, the eidolon gives me armor among other things.

@ Lara when Yllaine is lead away: Dante walks up to Lara and places a hand on her shoulder, or at least tries to. She is a very tall woman and he is a very short man. "I wouldn't worry too much. She's worth too much to them to harm her in anyway. I would worry more about the next few hours of blistering work wielding a pick," he says in a tone that says he isn't worried. In a quieter voice he says," And how we are going to get her and the rest of us out of this situation."

Dante can't help but feel a little antsy the first time he has to swing a pick. Not because of his situation but because he knew what he looked like. A small, feeble looking child trying to wield a large pick to destroy stone. Really? When he gets to the site and is directed to the wall they are picking at, he looks around. Sure enough the diggers around him were nudging each other and smirking. Dante rubs his hands together and grips the pick. He lifts it, pretending to struggle for a moment. Then, when he brings it down, there is a bright flash. When the dust settles, the pick is buried deep into the stone and the translucent armor is surrounding his forearms. Dante laughs at the looks of shock around him.

Unfortunately the moment is ruined as he tries to remove the pick from the stone and finds it is stuck fast. He pulls and pulls until eventually the thing comes loose and he goes sprawling on the dirt floor. The others aren't sure what to make of the situation until the boy laughs. Its a self-depreciating laugh that infects the others until they too begin to laugh.

Dante tries to maintain the jovial attitude both to ingratiate himself with the others and keep moral high.

Not wearing armor, he knows that the time will present itself later and with the guards about, will trust them to protect the group.

Before Tyrus leaves, he says a few encouraging words, "Good luck, I am sure your abilities will be well used rather than here with a pick, see you later."

Logan takes the pick looking at it with disapproval, "Kris, is there some chance we can get some better equipment, I would be willing to make it." If ignored he steps away with the pick and seeing the show put on by Dante. Soon laughing with the rest. He gets to work slamming the pick similar to how he would do an overhead chop with his greatsword. He soon gets into a rhythm as if he was practicing his strokes.

Lara glances at Dante when he speaks to her. Despite her obvious distaste for having to let Yllaine leave her side, she gives a curt nod. Then she takes up a pick and, by her scowl, tries to take her frustration out on the stone.

"It's up to the captain," is all the reply Kris makes to Logan as he walks away, leading Yllaine and I'm assuming Tyrus, but will wait for him to post in case we need to make any minor retcons...

The tunnel is about twenty feet deep and has a very slight but definite incline. Under the guidance of the foreman, Logan and Dante are set to the front to further the leading edge, while the others widen the tunnel behind. Luca and her obedient creature haul buckets of rock out of the tunnel along with a pair of other prisoners. The numbers are enough to let the prisoners spell each other, taking turns in the tunnel while they rest.

"A damned sight better than it was before. Your misfortune, our fortune, sad to say," Misha says to Logan on one such break.

Luca's expression towards Logan could only be described as... sympathetic. "Um... if you want, I could teach you how to talk to people a little better." she told him. His attempts at talking with others weren't just bad - they were worse than anything she'd ever seen, and despite their circumstances, she was finding herself moved to the generosity expected of a true aristocrat. Of course, it would also be something to do, since she wasn't doing the heavy labor herself... and learning something was a good way to keep your mind occupied, right?

Though speaking of being occupied, the girl was regularly looking towards the forest that was apparently inhabited by goblins. Part of her was thinking that it really would be best if they worked together to eliminate the problem, or at least sufficiently terrify them and ensure they'd come nowhere near the camp...

Personality Improvement, with Luca Wistor - this week, the bumbling fool Logan gets a Mumblemouth Makeover!

Tyrus:

You walk with Kris, Yllaine, and one other pirate all the way back to town - the trek is no easier than the first time. Yllaine looks at you with concern now and then as you huff and puff along the way.

Upon reaching the town once more, you are both brought to Norren in one of the large buildings near the rear of the town, close to the mountains.

Lady Yllaine, Mr. Tyrus, I hope your evening wasn't too uncomfortable," he begins. "Please take a seat. Tyrus, Kris here requires your assistance on a matter of alchemy."

Kris sits at the edge of a desk, on which can be found some alchemical apparatus. "Are you familiar with the distillation of blood for vital essences?"

Tyrus, due to your alchemical knowledge AND your budding perception with necromancy, not only are you familiar with it but you are very, very good at it. You may respond as you see fit.

Logan:

You assess the tunnel's stability and see that there are some crude wooden beam supports nearer to the opening. It looks like those are put in every few days. It doesn't make for perfect safety, but it's better than nothing.

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. Wanted two Strength checks each - so one more from both of you, please.

Despite his added strength through the ancestor spirit, Dante is not as used to using it as he could be. His work is haphazard, though still effective. Logan, on the other hand, splits the rock with gusto, and the bucket carriers can only just keep up with the rock he breaks loose from the mountain's grip.

Logan stumbles over his own words attempting to talk to Misha, who nevertheless nods. "Long as you're alive you've got a chance, that's for sure. Fun? One of my boys has a few dice we toss a'nights every now and then. Other than that... we're open to suggestions."

Dante, who is only half focused on work, is standing behind Misha when she responds to Logan. Immediately his head whips to the side, one eye-brow raised. He then proceeds to make rude, and even sexual gestures, indicating Misha and Logan. When Logan makes some angry faces back I draws Misha's attention to Dante. In the blink of an eye he is back to work. But when she turns around he is right back to it. He eventually hits Logan's breaking point which leads to a minor chase. Until the head foreman brings a stop to it.

If Logan has any angry words to say Dante merely responds with, "Weren't thinking about being a prisoner though were you?"

"As a matter of fact when I was a student I spent some time studying distillation processes - the inevitable inefficiencies of the process primarily. I showed the use of a variable pressure container to force evaporation over the conventional thermal increase mechanism could reduce losses in distillation processes significantly; especially with fragile materia such as blood. Sadly there are inherent dangers in such a mechanism and when I attempted to distill magnesium there was a slight explosion, and my mentor refused to pay for a new mechanism to be built."
"In fact I have to wonder if you've been reading the same library as I have. I have recently been undertaking independent study in the so called "black art" of Haemothurgy. Really its reputation for evil is undeserved. While it does deal in passing with the use of 'stolen blood', the art is primarily about the magical transformation of a wizard's body into a sort of biological distillation mechanism, and mechanisms for increasing blood production so one does not simply drain oneself dry in the task of increasing one's arcane reservoir. I'd be delighted to show you my notes on the subject if you'd like. There are, of course, certain undesirable side effects of the process."
"Now you haven't mentioned the composition of the blood, so I'm going to assume it is of a compatible species to yours? The efficacy of using compatible blood means that matching species is critical! I was always being taken to task for my 'obsession with animal blood' by my wife..."
Tyrus trails off into gloom and silence and quickly completes his assembly of equipment into a blood-distillation configuration.
"Alright. You have a question?"

Luca blinked a bit, not quite catching everything that was going on... but she seemed more than a bit desperate to help get things done, possibly as a way of taking her mind off of what was happening. Fortunately, the fact that she didn't need to stay closer than ninety feet or so (for wiggle room) meant that she actually had quite a range of motion.

Was it strange for her to feel tied to her Eidolon's location, rather than the other way around? Probably so... but whenever she seemed close to getting too far away, she found herself unconsciously wandering closer... and, realizing that nothing she did would make a difference, she was simply giving in to the inevitable and trying to focus on other things instead.

In her free time, however, she did get started with making what curtains she could - though she needed help from others to hang them up.

Tyrus:

Kris looks surprised when you begin pulling the portable alchemy kit from your pockets and assembling it. He seems to follow the majority of your pedantic rambling, and once gives Norren a glance and an approving nod.

"Impressive, Mr. Tyrus," Norren says. [b]"Not a question so much as a request. Kris? Miss Yllaine, I must apologize for this..."

The man walks over to Yllaine, taking a small knife from his belt. Yllaine starts to protest, but gesture and a word from Kris she slumps in her seat, apparently senseless. "Probably for the best. Hard to explain that we needed her blood," says Norren.

Kris makes a cut on Yllaines hand and produces two glass vials, letting the blood drip into each of them until they are mostly full. Norren wraps a bandage on the rousing-Yllaine while Kris carries the vials to Tyrus.

"Distill these, if you would."

He is asking you to take the blood sample and distil them down to their essences - essentially, to produce a concentrated fluid from the blood which will reveal the "nature" of the creature it belonged to. A normal human would have a weak positive energy essence, for instance.

If you do as they ask, make one more Alchemy check (I'll also use the first one). Otherwise, post your actions/words/etc.

Misha shrugs at Logan's suggestions. "You're free to round up whoever you like for whatever you like when we get back. Don't expect too many'll have the energy for any kind of sparring, but mumblety-peg and all those are always good timewasters."

At the tunnel, the workers are given a break at midday and fed bread and cheese. During the meal, Lara sits at the cliff's edge, gazing out both over the path back to town as well as the forest. The added height of the cliff lets you see a bit further, and it seems that the forest extends at least up to the foot of the larger mountains in the northern part of the island.

"How is it you blokes live so near to goblins?" she asks the foreman. "How is that smart?"

The foreman doesn't look like he is going to respond, but one of the guards does. "Bah! Little weaklings tried to raid us ages ago, but we showed 'em what's what. They ran off into the forest and haven't been back for more. Too afraid to give it another try!"

Logan is actually feeling pretty good at midday. His gloves work well with the crude pickaxes and his sword hardened hands don't get a single new blister with his form of picking. He goes over and sits with Lara at the cliff edge, after the conversation about the goblins he asks, "How are you doing, it seems rather obvious that you take your duties seriously, I am sure Yelleni is fine." He has trouble with the odd name doing his best to say it correctly. He tries to soothe her with what few words might help.

Ah - a loyalty test. I do this, then Kris confirms it. If he can toss off a first order spell like that he's undoubtedly trained in Alchemy.

Tyrus complies. He tells himself it is because this is a test. Because he needs Norren's aid. Because he owes this woman nothing.

The truth, perhaps, is simpler. Whatever this is, it is important. People care about this. Important people. It has been a very, very long time since important people have cared about the man once called Tertius.

Norren and Kris have accorded him status. Tyrus is unfamiliar with the taste, but finds it very much to his liking.

Tyrus:

You go through the familiar motions of the alchemical chore they have set you, applying heat, mixing in catalysts and thinning agents. By the time Yllaine regains consciousness you have turned what was once her blood into two vials of clear fluid of about a third the volume. Putting a stopper in them both, you arrange them in a stand on the workspace and look back to Kris. He walks over and takes one, lifting out the stopper and tipping the vial until a small amount of the blood essence spills into his palm, where he smells it and runs his fingers through it with half-lidded eyes.

"Is that what you need?" Norren asks, and Kris nods in response.

By this time, Yllaine is fully conscious and cradling her injured hand, looking at the pirates with a mixture of fear and betrayal. Norren sighs when he returns her gaze.

"I am sorry for the... shock. Suffice to say I had no desire to spend a lengthy time convincing you to cooperate. I'll trouble you no more for the day."

"I believe the ransom note I wrote stated I was to remain unharmed until I was returned to my family," Yllaine says with an icy voice.

The corner of Norren's mouth curls upward in amusement, though his voice when he replies is likewise cold. "If you think a scratch like that counts as harm, Miss Yllaine, then you have lived a very fortunate life indeed. But so be it. This will more than restore you to rights," Norren says as he pulls a potion vial from his belt and hands it to her. Yllaine takes it, but does not drink it right away.

Norren shrugs. "You and Mr. Tyrus may return to your fellows - Tyrus, we will prepare a place in town for you, but tonight you will stay with the others once more."

Feel free to say anything more you would like, or ask questions, whatever - if you don't initiate anything that requires you stay, you'll be led back to the other prisoners. This whole process has taken until about noon.

Lara glances at Logan, and gives a half-hearted smile at his reassuring words. "Protecting her is a privilege, not a duty," she says. "And yes, she probably is. Norren would be a fool to harm her - she's worth a great deal of money to him. But the world is cruel, and I dislike being away from her."

For the most part Dante focuses on work but manages to chat with the others while away the time. His years of watching the fighting form of others had allowed him to pick up their moves quite quickly. And with the added strength of the spirit he was smacking away at the rock almost as well as Logan. It didn't completely protect him from the fatigue and the blisters though. It was like it was some sentient power armor that constantly modified the strength it applied to him so that he still gained some benefit. Slowly, very slowly, it was making him stronger.

During his down time he watches Luca and here guardian. He was impressed at how intelligent the thing obviously was for it was making decisions on its on, usually for the sake of the girl. At some point when they are apart he walks up to it and bows. "I think we got off to the wrong the foot before. My name is Dante Florence and it is a pleasure to meet you. I apologize if I have insulted you in anyway. I was curious as to who and what you are. So are we still on growling terms?" he asks hopeful.

I don't know Aklo if it decides to respond but I think I can use Linguistics or Sense Motive to get close to what it is trying to say.

I'm not sure the term "power armor" sees much use in Eldreon, Dante. ;)

Tyrus:

Norren nods slowly when you finish speaking. "I know a man in your position must be in a powerful hurry. Know that I am an ambitious man - and while I do not know you well enough to reveal my plans to you yet, if you enter my employ you will have a wealth of opportunities to grow your skills."

Kris leans over and whispers in Norren's ear. Norren nods, and speaks again: "Tomorrow, I will show you something more.

Going to see if Luca wants to respond to Dante before moving the group along.

The Eidolon simply looked at Dante for a few moments, then opened its mouth wide and yawned widely (showing quite a lot of sharp teeth) before lifting up one foot and scratching behind one of its ears. "Don't bother the <hafh'drn> and I won't rip out your throat." the creature said, its Common precise and aristocratic. "I don't really care what happens otherwise." It turned around and padded off, careful to stay within 100 feet of Luca - who, at the moment, was a little too far away to have overheard the conversation.

Outsider

Tyrus and Yllaine are brought back to the prisoner compound a little after midday. The sounds of continued quarrying from the tunnel ring above them, but none of the pirates make any demand for them to join the crew at the tunnel. Yllaine disappears into the crumbling stronghold and Tyrus does not see her again until the evening.

Finally the sun begins to sink towards the horizon, and the foreman calls the end of work for the day. A couple of the guards are tasked to help the prisoners upend the large platforms containing the quarried rubble, and the stones and dust shower once again down the cliff to join the already-impressive pile at the bottom. Then the prisoners are escorted down off the path and back to their home. Food is brought, and then the pirates depart, once again leaving the prisoners to their own devices.

It is evening, the sun is setting but it is not quite dark yet. Don't forget the hidden door, as I believe you are all still able to make checks today to discover how to open it.

Luca quietly began eating her portion of the food, slowly and carefully trying to avoid spilling even the smallest part of it. "Finicky" was too mild of a term for what she was doing, though "obsessive" was at least heading in the right direction. "...Rebuilding this place might be too complicated." she observed, though it was absolutely true that she'd prefer to do something to make it more livable. Unfortunately, she needed to be near her Eidolon (whether she liked it or not), and that made it a bit hard to spend all day making the place better.

Her Eidolon, meanwhile, simply sat right by the entrance to the home, gazing towards the forest. It had no apparent need for food, water, or even sleep... and in that regard, it might serve fairly well as a guard, even if its purpose was remarkably narrow-minded.

Dante drops down next to Luca and begins eating his food with gusto, the exact opposite of her almost dainty approach to eating. He nods towards her guardian, "I think I made some progress today. "The captain has recognised that I may have useful skills. He's talking of getting me a place in the town."
"I am hopeful that I might be able to convince him I need an assistant, and apprentice or a nurse."
"Dante, Luca, it is fairly obvious neither of you are any better built for this than I am. You've both got some talent in the arts, and I think I might be able to make a case for at least one of you."
"Logan, I haven't forgotten you. I'll push a case, but you're obviously talented at this. If you can tell me what other skills you might have I'll happily try to convince the captain. If nothing else, you should be the foreman of this 'crew'."

Tyrus:
Luca did look a little nervous at the statement, though she wasn't entirely alone - her guardian(?) clearly had no intention of allowing her to be too far away from it. "Um, D-Dante might need more help..." she mumbled uncertainly, though she may have had a point - she wasn't the one doing the physical labor, and probably had it easier than just about anyone else as a result, though she was trying to work hard and at least make their living quarters more comfortable.

Dante raises an eyebrow at Tyrus. "I am not helping that man anymore than I already am and certainly not with magic. If I didn't have this guardian giving me strength I would likely die in the mines. But I would prefer that over living comfortably in his service. He is a pirate, a thief, and a slaver. He may be treating us humanely but that still doesn't excuse his actions. I will bide my time right here until the day I can escape or kill him. Do what you will but I will have no part of it."

Tyrus:
"i know that. My family used have honor until they became nobles. Then politics ruined them. The name Florence used to mean something. It used to be synonymous with honor and loyalty and integrity. Any man who enslaves others has none of that. And neither does any man that agrees with them." As Dante speaks the spiritual armor begins to extend further up his arms. It moves at an almost imperceptible pace, covering less than an inch more than it had. When he is done it fades away.
