For liquidating stuff, the gnome only carries 2500 gp on her. So anything more then that = trade for goods, otherwise she can't pay you.
GM Mort
Note that once past 2500 gp limit she cannot give you anything except her goods, so you need to buy from her. So I'm not sure how she's going to be able to cough up 4737.5 gp x4 +2244.35 gp

Thanks my duders.
Catching up on the posts on my subway ride. Lots o gnome gear!
GM Mort
Yeah unless you take those, but those are like items, and not gems where you can currency convert etc. Like no you don't get amethysts worth 500 gp kind of thing you'll get stuff like acid flasks, tanglefoot bags, bird feather tokens etc.
GM Mort
Oh go ahead if you want to. Mind you if you're buying the same ioun stones/items, the first person who triggers the 25 or lower means the rest can't get the same ioun stone/item. Makes no sense if she sold to someone, ran out, but could sell to the next guy...
GM Mort
Oh my god this is just so wrong. Can you imagine the poor gnome pulling chickens out of her hat?
Grenwold Houtvester
Nigel, let me know how much budget in trade I have. I doubt I could afford everything gnome sized, and you may want to trade for those scrolls regardless.
Grenwold Houtvester
I see now, sorry.
Looks like I can afford the breastplate and some scrolls, so I’ll get those.
GM Mort
I'm also glad the lynx eye charm wasn't an actual lynx eye, else you can have fun explaining to Robert about it...
GM Mort
Starting on Book 4 prep, maps are in place but I haven't put in creatures or fog of war yet.
Grenwold Houtvester
Maybe! If we all pooled our money we could get the prayer beads, which could give us some status removal/healing and buffs every day, but it’s 9600 bucks.
My priority in terms of cost-effective items would be:
+1 Breastplate - cheap and boosts AC
Scroll of fear the sun, shield of faith - good emergency scroll and a good low-level scaling scroll for AC for me or someone else.
Runestone of power - one more level 1 spell per day.
+1 Composite longbow - adds 2 damage to my ranged attacks and lets me bypass DR (I don’t use ranged that much)
+1 glaive - adds 1 damage to my reach melee attacks and lets me bypass melee dr (I typically start with the glaive - but I won’t be using it regularly until later levels when I can flank using it and Ringo simultaneously).
Other scrolls (my intimidate is too low and divine favor wouldn’t scale on the scroll wel without fate’s favored, which I’m not going to get until at least 9 with “addditional traits”.)
Prayer beads - great but expensive. Probably too expensive for us.
So maybe I could buy the runestone too if I borrowed some money? It’s up to everyone.
I may have missed it - what is the purpose behind everyone rolling dice for percentages? I don’t see a reference to that mechanic in either thread.
GM Mort
I'll say all your chickens will account to 1 Provision Point every 3 days. I don't think you'd buy the c*cks would you?
GM Mort
Btw those are Not scrolls. Those are pages of spell knowledge. A level 1 page of spell knowledge, like divine favor costs 1k gp flat. If you want scrolls, roll under the 500 and under gp category and see if you get it.
GM Mort
Anything under 500 gp, roll d100, below 25, it's out of stock. Also does not include suits of armor.
Put it down here.
How it works is your gnome friend is mimicking a village in purchase value, so as per settlement rules:
Base Value and Purchase Limit This section lists the community’s base value for available magic items in gp (see Table: Available Magic Items). There is a 75% chance that any item of this value or lower can be found for sale in the community with little effort. If an item is not available, a new check to determine if the item has become available can be made in 1 week. A settlement’s purchase limit is the most money a shop in the settlement can spend to purchase any single item from the PCs. If the PCs wish to sell an item worth more than a settlement’s purchase limit, they’ll either need to settle for a lower price, travel to A larger city, or (with the GM‘s permission) search for a specific buyer in the city with deeper pockets. A settlement’s type sets its purchase limit.
Settlement rules for reference.

I try to stay 1 book ahead of the party in prep, and you're coming to the end of book 1.
I sort of aim for the crazy-prepared GM thing.
Grenwold Houtvester
Ah ha, okay. A page of spell knowledge is just a simpler spell lattice. I had gotten a lattice at the creation process and for some reason assumed that was the only thing that worked like this (I didn’t know the pages existed). Mort, could I change my lattice to a page? They have an identical price.
Also, I might take some pages now that I’m not being dumb/confused.

Okay, guys. If we're going after that supply train, we need a plan. I propose blocking the road with three or four felled trees, then unleashing arrow fire on the Hobgoblins. Any opinions?
Yes, I was in the Army. This is a standard roadside ambush in wooded terrain.
Grenwold Houtvester
I think the prayer beads are great, but outside our price range, even pooled. What might be better are pages and that level 1 runestone.
For pages: the level 2 pages are also probably outside of our price range, even with pooling. I’m learning divine favor anyway at 7, as it is only +1 until 6.
With that said, I can afford the breastplate and shield of faith with my share (if I trade in my old breastplate). With shield of faith known I can pass that out during/before fights. With the runestone I can do that more. The runestone is 2k if we can put that together. I can also extend some buffs, including shield of faith, with the rod. Currently, 8 minutes might be 2+ fights, and shield of faith scales again at 6 to +3. Does that sound good?
I also should put in an order for something special - though who knows when she’s coming back. I’ll need a headband of inspired wisdom by level 7 to get a bonus level 3 spell. Let me know if there are any objections.

As far as 'ordering' magical items... What I need is all so bland :P - ring of protection, amulet of natural armor, etc. I need to improve my AC. It is WAY behind the curve.
To be clear, 'ordering' magic items is still subject to the 500gp 'cap', as per the rules for settlements.
So, for more expensive items to have a chance of showing up (like Headbands, or even Rings of Protection +1), we need to get to a bigger settlement (which is why I splurged on 'low level' stuff).
I had hoped we could just buy crafting supplies, and then get Veld to *make* some stuff, but that idea got shot down, by poor rolling :-/

Just so no-one is surprised - Mort has (effectively) home-game rules about how long minute-per-level buffs last in terms of number of combats; I'll leave it to her to expound upon that subject.

No objections, whatsoever. Sounds solid :-)

Ok, it doesn't look like anyone needs a little extra cash, I will look at items/ioun stones list tonight for purchase. I'm sorry if I'm not as involved in the 'community development' part, RL has my head elsewhere.
Grenwold Houtvester
I think the little extra I need might be covered by some other folks. I think we determined the prayer beads are unfeasible at 4.
GM Mort
How I do min/level is 5 min = 1 combat, 10 min =2 combats so on, so forth. It includes looting + healing +identification times.
GM Mort
Also additional house rules that are in place: when you actually get to a city, you can purchase upgrade dusts(rolling as per settlement rules) to upgrade your gear piecemeal, as if it was a PFS game.
I.e paying 2000 gp to get upgrade dust you can sprinkle on your weapon to make it +1.
Ratel Dier

sorry, I thought I read all the post, I didn't see anywhere saying how much you needed from Ratel, what was the figure?
Grenwold Houtvester
Heh, you didn’t miss anything. Nothing was settled yet. You can contribute as much as you want to the “more level 1 spells” fund.
GM Mort
Long story short:who if any, is coughing up 2k gp for Grenwold's runestone of power?
Ratel Dier
ok, so maybe I'm a moron, but how did Charm person just work on a dire wolf?
GM Mort
Grenwold had animal whisperer trait. It's one of the campaign traits.
Animal Whisperer
You’ve spent more of your life around animals than people, and find them easier to understand.
You gain proficiency in Animal Handling, if you are already trained, you gain advantage. You may attempt to “push” a wild animal to perform a trick for you, so long as its attitude is indifferent or friendlier. You may target creatures of the animal type with charm or compulsion spells as if they were humanoids, but unless you have another ability to make yourself understood to animals, you must still succeed at a Handle Animal check to “push” your target in order to communicate specific requests.
Charm person isn't even on inquisitor spell list, but inquisitors of shelyn get it as a level 1 spell.
I did check the legality of the action that's why the reply took some time actually.
Ratel Dier
I figured I was missing something,
I saw the 'animal handling' Ratel had it too, so I didn't read the fine print, just asked the question. I guess I should know my own 'trait' better :-)
So what happens to the dire wolfs attitude when we attack his mounted friend? Guess I'll go check out in game thread and find out.
GM Mort
In this case nothing much. It's just like what happens when you go to the stables and rent a horse to ride.
