Seconds before Gregory's rending teeth and claws descend upon the creature, a look of beatific calm suffuses its features.
"Finally... I will be at peace."
It then explodes into a shower of red gore.

A search of the room reveals the following:
[ooc]Longsword x2, a pair of mithral bracers (worth 800gp), and a gun-shaped device, the barrel exit of which glows cherry-red.
Two passages exit this chamber - a more southerly one, which opens into the ettin's chamber, and and easterly one, which goes deeper underground.

This ten-foot-diameter tunnel is a tangle of metal beams that criss-cross to form a lattice. Each beam has been decorated with strange writings and images of clawed hands, while on the walls are scrawled depictions of what appears to be a looming mountain adorned with strange spikes. In all of these illustrations, an immense demonic form is shown smashing the spiky mountain to rubble - within the mountain, an even greater demonic shape bears the brunt of the devastation.
As Gregory moves forward, there is a buzzing noise, and three more observer robots power up, detach themselves from the walls, and move to attack!

Continuing down the tunnel...
On the southern wall of this sprawling cavern, a massive wheel of metal buckets lined with sharp edges is embedded, partially buried, in the wall. The latticework of metal girders connects to the wheel. The whole of the device comprises along mechanical arm ending in a metal wheel far larger than any mill's waterwheel.
However, more immediately attention-grabbing than this, is the creature that waits for Gregory:
A massive, scorpion-like construct with huge, serrated pincers and a tail, the tip of which glows cherry-red, and is surrounded by a corona of electricity.
As Gregory steps into the room, several powerful light turn on where the scorpion's "eyes" should be, and a familiar voice booms forth:
"Ah, you are a persistent insect, little one. You have managed to get further than I ever would have guessed a glorified ape could reach. I give you one last chance to acknowledge your error, and bow-down to worship me. Otherwise, there will be no further mercy."
