I think there should be some fear of technoogy from some party members, and it would be helpful for some of you to be really great at breaking things! That said, this adventure and setting is all about exploring technology! You should be excited to find an electric hammer or laser sword! You can use some really cool gear if you're willing!

@Askra I don't like games on rails, I'm into the game feeling free to make any decision. But the premise of an adventure like this is that you're generally good people. A sharp tongue is a great thing to RP, but if you decide to act perpendicular to the way the world is built, then you'll cause a lot of problems for yourself. I have no problem with you beating up whomever you like or breaking whatever you like, but I also have no problem with the world properly responding by throwing you in jail or worse!

Poor Nashara is very....backwoods :D In a good hearted but slightly ignorant about the world kind of way.

Me the PLAYER is gaga over all the tech. I've been actually having an on-again off-again conversation with James Jacobs about my favorite item printed in a Pazio book so far: the Monowhip. I have a special place in my heart for this weapon, especially after talking to James about his RAI (he's not the rules guy so as to official rulings we have to wait and see) but, basically, he designed both the Monowhip and also designed the Agile enchantment and intended for them to work together. Ditto for Slashing Grace. So...yeaaaaah I love tech.

@paloma It really is! I bet the drama is only beginning =). BTW I LOVED the reference! I played through CC with freinds over the course of a year and made it slowly to level 14. I love the setting and the story we told =,)

@nashara I just looked up the monowhip, omg. i love it! haha cant wait to use it! I hope you can find a cool balance between wrecking the tech in numeria, and using it to your advantage. There is plenty of cool stuff to play with!

Back in civilization. I had planned on Kaad being suspect of technology and kind of a destroyer, hence Breaker barbarian. My concern is that he will wreck stuff others will want and be ostracized OOC. Feedback?

Hmm. Palomia will probably begin to advocate fighting fire with fire, especially when/if we run into bad guys that utilize tech against us or seem invulnerable to most of what we can do normally; she tends to favor the practical approach.

I'm going to go sort of in between the two. Also...

Sunder

You can attempt to sunder an item held or worn by your opponent as part of an attack action in place of a melee attack. If you do not have the Improved Sunder feat, or a similar ability, attempting to sunder an item provokes an attack of opportunity from the target of your maneuver.

If your attack is successful, you deal damage to the item normally. Damage that exceeds the object's Hardness is subtracted from its hit points. If an object has equal to or less than half its total hit points remaining, it gains the broken condition (see Conditions). If the damage you deal would reduce the object to less than 0 hit points, you can choose to destroy it. If you do not choose to destroy it, the object is left with only 1 hit point and the broken condition.

From the PRD. Pathfinder has an awesome built in clause that allows you to break items and still let them retain 1HP so they can be fixed later. Lucky for us we have someone in the party who can cast Mending on command!

So my thinking is Kaad and I can Break our Cake and Eat It Too! (EVIL LAUGH) Afterwards, we can fix it all and use it.

I'll probably go the PA/Imp Sunder but stop before going full Technophobe (maybe...depends on story etc.) eventually adapting to the world and embracing tech. [Null Blades are very convincing!]

@re Monowhip talk: A Sacred Fist/Warpriest of Calistria with a level or two of monk can Crusader's Flurry with that thing. It counts as a whip for Diety Weapons/Feats/etc. Flurry of Blows with a Monowhip for the win!

From the PRD:

The Surprise Round: If some but not all of the combatants are aware of their opponents, a surprise round happens before regular rounds begin. In initiative order (highest to lowest), combatants who started the battle aware of their opponents each take a standard or move action during the surprise round. You can also take free actions during the surprise round. If no one or everyone is surprised, no surprise round occurs.

Would this change anything in our current situation? Frog Monster may have only been able to move or blind attack or make one of it's natural attacks. Unless I'm totally mistaken in which....my bads! :)

No you're right, I forgot!, though blinding is a free action. I'm going to allow that. I'll use one of the attacks as a charge, so reduce your damage to 3. This'll let us keep moving without changing too much ;). Besides, Nashara should be able to slough off more damage than that!

Indeed, I'm having a good time! I don't know if it's the design of the adventure or just how we've chosen to proceed, but it's interesting that there's not been a lot of preliminary "get to know you" RP that a lot of APs seem to have at the beginning. It adds an interesting element to our current situation because it's a rather uncomfortable one; most of us are strangers, some of us don't care much for each other, you've got at least two or three characters suspicious of all these crazy contraption things we're running across and one character who's doing a pretty good impression of Dante from Clerks.

It did, but they were side characters in that one from what I remember. I was thinking Palomia as Dante considering how much she's whined (and will probably continue to whine for a little longer) about how she doesn't want to be here in the first place.

The blindness is supposed to last an hour, since the encounter with the frog it couldn't have been longer than 15 minutes at most. You guys are welcome to wait in a cave for an hour until it passes =)

I was happy to wait, but then when I logged back in 16 posts had happened in about half a day - one minute Ask was checking out the southwestern chamber while the group stayed put, ostensibly to make sure we weren't ambushed; the next the party had moved well on and encountered a skulk and followed it away down a slope….

I'm doing my best to save you, while on fire. (I was also hoping we'd wait off the blindness but I got over ruled. Pure folly on our behalf for not all hunkering down and keeping quiet for an hour like the wise warpriestess cautioned ^_^ I think Kaad and I could have personality'd our way passed the Skulks too haha but this is fun too.

This is sooooo bad, but I'm amused nonetheless. To be honest, of the PBPs that I'm in, this group reminds me of the RL group I play in the most - I laughed at "skanks" and "is it cool" is something I've heard more than once.

Haha well, hopefully we pull through the fight and can keep playing together :D I'm positive this is the most difficult AP printed to date, we have to play safer just a tad otherwise we might all die and have to talk our kind GM into starting it over for us with new characters. Dibs on Life Oracle :D And hopefully I killed the one I attacked last round Kaad, 14 is close I think, not sure though. I think Askra did some significant damage to that one with her glorious Death From Above!(tm) ChargingLeap(also,tm) over our heads. If so it'll free you up to squish another one and maybe Fijit can get a Channel off this round to help Askra and I recover and buy me a turn of 'being on fire' lol. Good times!

Also, anyone ELSE in favor of hogtie'ing Val and hauling her back to the foundry if we survive? She's a death trap (I just read through our game so far and she was the suggestive catalyst for us not waiting out the blindness in our safe corner AND she incited Askra's fury and got us into this sitch'.)

So, for her own protection, I vote we take her back to the Foundry and bind her scrawny ass in chains (for her own good, her impetuousness will be the end of her, its the hard choice to make but probably the right one..)

Ok, I've stated my case on our spot :P Feel free to disagree(or agree!) but 2 strikes against her so far.

Haha it really is entertaining! Its so funny cause actualy 1, i didnt even intend for Val to come down, I just figured shed want to, and 2, I actually wanted you guys to talk to the Skulks! lol I thought to myself, here we have a 16 yr old girl who has been a slave most of her life to a cruel society, parents killed, parental figure likely also killed as well, blind in a cave with strangers, some she hates, some she fears, and she just found one of her friends dead with multiple stab wounds. I would be doing this universe a huge disservice to say "Val quietly agrees with the party and decides to wait and see what the evil murderous creatures say" lol

@Nashara haha a fair choice, you seem to already realize that i'm not above smashing Val's 'scrawny ass' with a rock or having some mook one shot her. Guess how many hit points she has? ;)

If we survive I'll raise the question about taking her back in character, I wanted to talk to the skulks too...I don't think they're the culprit here at all lol. Hopefully Fijit handles business this round and no one will die....but thats kinda up in the air lol. If I can occupy the same square as an unconcious ally I'll do that, standing over Fijit to protect her and leaving room for Kaad where my character is standing on the map now. I didn't want to peek at any spoilerific stuff so if I need to do anything in order to douse the flames let me know! :) I was going to roll twice since it looked automatic but the retroactive one nailed it. Let me know if I need to change/fix anything. My current reflects me making the save prior to this turn (-6) and Fijits heal (+4)

Today is RL game day so it may be until later tonight before I get Palo and Relas' stuff finished for 2nd level. Not to mention Hero Lab has me puzzled because it's telling me that Relas has 7 evolution points at 1st level when the max should be 4 (initial 3 + 1 from Extra Evolution feat) >.<

She'd get murdered haha. 6hp is one bad slip n' fall on a failed climb check from 10 feet up. I like her, but, erm, I want her to live and be reunited with Pa Baine. I can imagine he'd be rather cross with us if we got his little girl killed. (assuming he's alive, I've avoided spoilers lol).

I cringe just imagining what the last scene would have looked like if Val and Fijit were in opposite spaces on the map.

However, Mama 'Shara isn't the boss, and the democratic approach / vote is fine with me =) I sometimes get very in character for PBPs and Val's digital existence has taken on some meaning to me haha :)

So if it comes down to an ooc vote, that's 1 yes and 1 no, with Yes for stay with us or No for take her home.

Edited to add; She's quite the crafter as well. If we keep her alive (via sending her home or protecting her if she comes along) maybe we can have her make us nifty things at cost instead of Retail....like Alchemist Fire, Weapon Sheen, Alchemical Ammunition etc. All kinds of goodies!
