Nashara |
The large woman grunts, setting down her armor and greatsword. "Name's Nashara. Pleasure t'meet, n'all that.
hello, checking in! I'll keep checking back here. Looking forward to this. Will check back frequently :)
I'm mostly mainly melee'ish as far as build/capabilities. Not sure what direction I'll be going as she levels but for now, as far as I know, she's virtually unaware of technology or the league. I'm doing some soul searching about my character's religious philosophy brought up against tech and how she might react. it's all so interesting. Anyway, that's enough rambling haha
Kaad |
Kaad is a melee-focused character. He avoids being seen because of his monstrous visage preferring to sleep and watch in the tops of trees and any other inconspicuous high places to observe the townsfolk. The strange goings on in Torch may be the result of the tiefling's scavenging for his survival at night. He knows no one in town as he believes the Technic League may be looking for him. There is more, but I want to save some stuff for RP, should it come up.
Jean Antonio |
Here I am as well :)
Just so no one gets surprised, besides the characters during RP, Jean is more of a conjurer than a blaster. E.g. She'd probably get and use Create Pit instead of Flaming Sphere.
Her forte is creation and crafting, so expect me to get the crafting feats at levels 3, 5, and so on. I really hope we get to that point.
Also, if anyone finds any traps, Jean can be convinced to get it out of our way.
Palomia Kasic |
And of course the majority of the summoner spell list seems geared more towards utility and buffing-type spells so Palomia won't be much of a blaster either. Relas can help the melee folks as a flanking buddy and could probably also serve as something of a scout if needed. He's actually got slightly better social skills than Palo does, which is intentional :P
Askra Taw |
Though like I said, if we have a dedicated tracker, or if nobody minds, I'd happily pick up the Vanguard archetype - it will extend Askra to be more than a brooding loner, and allow her to play more of a group role...
Nashara |
I can't really do much in the way of tracking. I'll probably be conservative as I can with spells. I don't get a ton right now (Just 2 first level per day) I'll try atleast holding on to one for a CLW should we need it in a pinch and using the other for a Divine Favor since it meshes well with one of my traits.. Most of my buffs are all mostly Luck bonus's and will benefit from that I'll probably end up going Improved Sunder and Technophobe as I level for RP reasons but I'm not locked in on that 100% yet. Nashara isn't really judgmental about looks - being such a large woman made her stick out like a sore thumb her whole life - so I expect I can already see myself relating to the monsterous tiefling. But we'll get to that in the game itself! :)
Palomia Kasic |
@Askra - If there's a particular archetype that you want to go with, that sounds good to me! Though I could pick Survival to be one of Relas' additional class skills (I forget summoners get to pick 4 in addition to the ones given for eidolons), he wouldn't be especially good at it.
@Nashara - Looking forward to learning more about your character and everyone else's!
I'll go back over both characters and make sure that I don't need/want to change anything before we get started and locked in.
Kaad |
I'll go back and put stats in heading. I think that we need a party face and scout. I'm not sure if we have filled that sneak roll. I'll see what I can do about stealth. Kaad is sociable, but I don't think that he would be a good face based upon stats.

The Campaign thread is now active!
And so our tale begins.
Jean Antonio |
@Askra: I was browsing over the group's profiles when I got confused by your ability scores... I think your indicator for the +2 racial ability bonus was intended to be on DEX?
Jean Antonio |
@Askra: I thought so too when I first read the GM's post. Reading back though, it looks like only Jean and Fijit were the ones who knows Val to some personal degree. And since we're still strangers, she wouldn't be inviting the others to join her for that short visit.
Askra Taw |
Sure. It seems we are all in the same area though.
Remember, Askra is a local, and therefore knows the Baines. She doesn't have a high opinion of Khonnir, but then she's a near illiterate pig farmer with aspirations of grandeur that amount to "leaving the pig-farm and Torch to...adventure...I guess..." so what would she know....
Askra Taw |
@TRO - as I said in my PM, things work more smoothly if you roll Initiative for all of us in the first post pre-combat, then we can post as we wish, knowing our actions will occur according to our initiative order.
@Kaad - I've never seen players spoilering dice rolls generally unless the party is split up/due to divided character knowledge. Any other reason you can give me as to why we would? I'm interested in any and all PbP formats/protocols...

There was one campaign where we hid rolls because DM thought it read clean.
Askra Taw |
Understood. I'm toying with an idea of running a PbP and having all the mechanics/rolls in the Discussion thread so the "clean" story is only in Gameplay. Would probably be really annoying however… :)
TheRiverOcean |
Sorry guys, I've neglected this!
@Askra, yes that is fine!
@Kaad When necessary, I'll roll init for everyone! For the automaton it wasn't really necessary.
Init will be cleaner in the future!
@askra & paloma, yes nice renovations lol. I shoulda rolled to have the building collapse ;)

No problem. Thanks. It usually helps pbp go smoothly as everyone plays close to order when they know their turn.
TheRiverOcean |
yeah it would be good to have ppl post in order, though honestly i think it might be better just to have two groups.
For example, everyone that beat monster initiative goes in any order, then monsters go, then everyone who lost to monster initiative goes. In this way you dont have to wait for slow posters for your turn.

Personally, I think TRO's idea would be the way to go since it's more flexible.
TheRiverOcean |
Thanks, let's do it that way!
Hahha omg @askra, she totally is vegetarian!
Nashara |
No worries! Sometimes I may post a combat action out of order if I know I'm going to be away from my computer for a stretch. I'll generally post blue text with a couple 'what if's should one of the other party member's actions make my plan not work. I do it so I don't slow down things :D
Loving the game and setting so far, I hadn't been able to convince my local gaming group to play this AP yet so I'm stoked to be able to participate. Should you ever need to DMPC me if I'm out of town for a day or two (happens rarely, just in case though) Nashara is very straight forward at this point. Move to attack the highest priority threat or move to defend a seriously injured ally or innocent.
I have a few thoughts I'd like some feedback on for the future. Nashara has led a semi-sheltered life; I'm hoping to continue this AP as far as it goes and as far as options for her future I have been seriously considering building towards the Technophobe feat to represent her possible growing mistrust of technology(The feat itself is a few levels away at best but the RP will show up sooner or later). I just didn't want to ruffle any feathers if later on down the road I started Sundering tech that's used against us (if we encounter any etc, I've kept myself VERY unspoiled for this AP).
Right now I can see Nashara heading this way but I could easily go another way with her if that concept would push me away from the party etc. Feedback pleaseeee! :) Thanks guys
TheRiverOcean |
It all good! If you gys know for sure you cant post please lmk so I can put you in "cardboard-cutout" mode.
haha Nashara, just wait until you see what's further along in this adventure and I think your decision and motivations will become clear ;)
Askra Taw |
Ask will be right behind you Nashara, at least until/when she figures out any tech is a useful weapon she can understand and use...
Askra Taw |
A certain degree of healthy paranoia is a prerequisite for a successful life as an adventurer. ;)
Works for me in RL too, though my wife would hesitate over the "healthy" descriptor...
Palomia Kasic |
See, that's one thing that I like about the majority of the people I've played PBPs with so far, they always give an OOC heads-up about potential drama/trouble that their character might have a legitimate in-character reason to cause. Then everyone can talk it over and reach some sort of agreement on what works to stay true to the character without it wrecking the campaign or screwing over one of the other party members :D
Palo/Relas will be mildly curious about the tech but not feel too strongly about it one way or the other. Until we find stuff that can laser someone's face off. Palo might enjoy tech like that.
Askra Taw |
That's the kind I was referring to with regard to Ask as well.
Also, as a heads up Askra may want to beat Val to a bloody pulp at some future stage. But girls are like that. ;)
Nashara |
Haha girls will be girls. I was fully prepared to drop my Improved Sunder/technophobe schtick if it was problem causing. I just feel like it interacts pretty well with Pharasmian Ideology(tm) for Nashara to at least question the line between artificial life compared to undeath on the cosmic scale. :D
