Auraelia probably falls under martial(-ish) rather than arcane, since the soulknife class really only gives her melee combat abilities.

Updated previous post. Thanks!

This will be my (Helikons) gunslinger

No edits on my end. ^^

Definitely interested!

I'm thinking Swashbuckler or Investigator. One thing that would affect the choice is if the Fencing Grace feat would be available? It's official just not in a book yet... :)

Aye! A Summoner I be. (^_^)

Very much cheers ta' all.

Updated the background and stats to 25pt buy.
Of course things can change to help the game as discussed with DMs or to fit with the party mechanics.

Solaria Jesari, elven metal elementalist wizard, background, description:

Solaria Jesari is a young, by elven terms, female. She wears dark robes with the black of night and purple cloths bound together by silver designs of stars and other celestial bodies. Under the deep purple edged hood, her long raven black hair hangs down past her deep red coloured eyes. Her pale skin, seemingly slightly off blue makes her look somewhat sickly, yet her gait and the way she holds herself belies the ruddy health she enjoys. Her bow and quiver rest over her back, whilst she uses a gnarled wooden staff, with fine metal threads running along its dark length.

Like all those who wish not to be noticed, she seems to blend in with crowds, yet amongst her own, she shows the confidence she has in her abilities. Except for her teacher, she does not make friends easily, but rather the normal elven standoffish and arrogant manner hides her need to analyse her relationships with others, by what they can offer her, or her elven masters. Those who would be useful, she will do all she can to help, but to lay down her life for others seems an anathema for her. She has no need for love, at least for her life so far.

----------
Background
----------
All elves remember when the Starstone struck, and some are fascinated by the outer spheres where further magic must exist. Either the magic of technology from the stars or the inherent arcane power held by metals and objects found in Numeria. To gain this knowledge and master its powers will give the elven peoples an advantage in their fight to rid Kyonin of the demon lord Treerazer. But with the dominance of the Technic league, the elves have had to seek to be subtle in their quest for knowledge and atrifacts.

So Solaria Jesari, a young female wizard has long been sent on simple fact finding missions to Numeria to find the power that will aid the elves defeat the Treerazer. An orphan, she spent her time in study of the stars and the power of the arcane, taken into service by the leaders of Kyonin to serve them in their search for a way to make safe their homelands. Solaria has been on several missions already into Numeria, it was on one of these that she discovered a teacher of magic, a school almost unknown to the elves. Her teacher Jaquimo Dordorting, a human who has had several run ins with the Technic League, has taken her elven natural magical talents and developed them in this space age arcane school. Now the elven hierarchy have a special agent to learn more of these arcane powers and to be in a better position to retrieve the space sourced artifacts.

Solaria has come to Torch to research and study the violet flame above the town and to start her collection of skymetal.

Specialized School: Elementalist Metal.
--------------------------------------------
Elemental Wizard Schools
Some philosophers claim that the four-element structure of reality—air, earth, fire, water—is an erroneous belief. These scholars insist there are not four elements, but five: fire, earth, metal, water, and wood. Wizards who subscribe to these beliefs have developed the ability to tap into elemental sources of metal and wood, gaining magical powers normally limited to other kinds of spellcasters.

Five Elements
In some lands, scholars of magic insist that material things consist of five elements, not four: fire, earth, metal, water, and wood. Rather than directly opposing each other, these five elements counter and generate each other in a wheel-like formation: wood overcomes earth, earth overcomes water, water overcomes fire, fire overcomes metal, and metal overcomes wood. Similar to the four types of elemental wizard schools, some wizards specialize in the schools of magic based on metal or wood. Like a normal arcane school, an elemental school grants a number of school powers and one bonus spell slot of each level the wizard can cast, from 1st on up. This bonus spell slot must be used to prepare a spell from the elemental school's spell list (see below). Unlike a normal arcane school, each elemental school requires the wizard to select his opposed element as his opposition school—in the case of the five-element system, he must choose the element that overcomes his element as his opposition element (so a metal elementalist must select fire as his opposition school because fire overcomes metal). He does not need to select a second opposition school. He must expend two spell slots to prepare a spell from his opposed elemental school as normal.

Metal (Elemental School)

Metal represents firmness, rigidity, persistence, strength, determination, and electricity. It is commonly represented by gold and silver as its purest forms, though lower magic relating to iron and steel is part of the metal school.

Metal Magic: At 1st level, add the following spells to your wizard spell list at the listed spell level: 3rd—chill metal, heat metal, 5th—rusting grasp, 9th—repel metal or stone.
Whenever you cast a spell that deals hit point damage, you deal extra damage to creatures made of metal or wearing medium or heavy metal armor. Affected creatures take additional damage equal to 1/2 your wizard level. This bonus damage is not increased by Empower Spell or similar effects. This bonus only applies once to a spell, not once per missile or ray, and cannot be split between multiple missiles or rays. The damage is of the same type as the spell.

Metal Rending (Su): At 20th level, whenever you cast a spell on a creature made of metal or wearing medium or heavy armor, you can roll twice to penetrate the creature's spell resistance and take the better result.

Iron Skin (Su): You gain a +2 armor bonus to your Armor Class for 10 minutes; this bonus increases by +1 for every 5 caster levels (maximum +6 at 20th level). You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Intelligence bonus.

Shrapnel Burst (Su): At 8th level, as a swift action, you can cause jagged pieces of metal to explode outward from your body. These shards deal 1d6 points of piercing damage per two wizard levels (minimum 1d6) to all creatures within a 10-foot-radius burst. A Reflex save halves this damage. In addition, the twisted scraps of metal make the area difficult terrain until your next turn (at which time they disappear). You can use this ability once per day, plus one additional time per day at 13th and 18th level. At 10th-level, the shrapnel bypasses damage reduction as if it were a magic weapon.

Metal Elementalist Wizard Spells: 0—mending; 1st—gravity bow, magic weapon, shocking grasp; 2nd—defensive shock, glitterdust, make whole, shatter, silk to steel; 3rd—chill metal, heat metal, lightning bolt, keen edge, magic weapon (greater), versatile weapon; 4th—malfunction, shout, stoneskin; 5th—lightning arc, major creation, rapid repair,
rusting grasp, soothe construct, unbreakable construct; 6th—chain lightning, disintegrate, wall of iron; 7th—control construct, lightning rod, statue; 8th—call construct, iron body, shout (greater), stormbolts; 9th—meteor swarm, repel metal or stone, ride the lightning.

Opposition School: Fire
0-Spark, 1-Burning Hands, Dancing Lantern, 2-Burning Gaze, Fire Breath, Flaming Sphere, Pyrotechnics, Scorching Ray, 3-Campfire Wall, Fireball, Flame Arrow, 4-Fire Shield, Fire Trap, Firefall, Wall of Fire, 5-Fire Snake, Geyser, 6-Contagious Flame, Sirocco, 7-Delayed Blast Fireball, Firebrand, 8-Incendiary Cloud, Wall of Lava, 9-Fiery Body, Meteor Swarm

Looks good 8574! I guess I never really thought of Shauldrek as a Skill-character, but he doesn't really fit anywhere else, eh?

When will the final group be announced?

It was definitely a toss-up! In my mind, it usually comes down to the question, "Will this PC be using their primary weapon every round of combat, casting a spell, or trying to manipulate the enemy/battlefield?" Sounded from your tactics like the latter is the case.

I put together the list to see what kind of application might be needed, but then realized that I had missed the original deadline for submissions. However, as I have the AP, I may look at those not selected for a "team 2" play through. No promises - the fall is fairly busy 0 but I'm trying to pre-type posts just in case we can get through the first book, which is a great standalone adventure for low level PCs.

Just as a heads-up, my computer took a crap and died this weekend. I had to wait until today for a school check to come in so I could purchase a new one. As such, I'm going to close the applications off tomorrow; I will try to have a post tonight addressing everyone's questions and organizing a list of possible/applied characters.

Aaaah, that sucks. My machine failed earlier this year, and it took me about a month to get a new one, so I can definitely understand the problems you're facing. XD I'm glad things seem to have worked out for you, though!

Another blight druid :o

Rolled this one with 3d6 straight down but I can adjust it up for point buy. My background is also totally malleable and will probably be changed anyways to fit other characters' backstories, if chosen.

Corrected. XD I do like Androids, but I didn't submit one.

I am considering a Savage Technologist barbarian. I like the idea of dual-wielding a laser pistol and some kind of high-tech melee weapon... in a frothing blood frenzy.

...The Technology guide doesn't have any chainsaw-swords, does it? I could get really Warhammer 40k all up in this, haha.

I think it only has a normal chainsaw... although enough skill in crafting might let you -create- a chainsaw sword... or otherwise develop it as a weapon in accordance with some standardized guidelines I've seen. XD

Specifically, these: http://www.rpgbooster.com/download/BoostPointsCWC2.pdf

May or may not be too late to toss my hat into this particular ring, but allow me to apply with Alexander 'Sasha' Sokolov, a gunslinger with a penchant for precision and a preternatural knack for speaking Androffan (which, if you read his backstory first, will make sense.)

Chainsaws, however, are already stated out as melee weapons that does 3d6 damage as medium weapon.

Price 2,700 gp; Type two-handed melee; Proficiency exotic; Dmg (M) 3d6 slash.; Dmg (S) 1d12 slash.; Critical 18-20/×2; Capacity 10; Usage 1 charge/hour; Special deadly, distracting; Weight 10 lbs.
Originally developed for use as tools, chainsaws work remarkably well as weapons and are often used by lunatics or those who want to intimidate their enemies. A chainsaw consists of a weighty housing for the engine and power source that is fitted with two handles, and a 2- to 3-foot-long blade extending from the front, around which a whirling, buzzing chain of razor-sharp cutting links spins at blinding speed when the weapon is activated. It's a standard action to activate a chainsaw, and doing so consumes a charge of power. The chainsaw continues to run constantly after activation, draining an additional charge each hour. A dropped chainsaw automatically turns off unless it is set down carefully as a move action. The buzzing of a chainsaw's blade is loud and distracting (but not deafening), causing anyone carrying an activated chainsaw to take a -10 penalty on Stealth checks. An activated chainsaw grants a proficient user a +2 morale bonus on Intimidate checks.

Alright, so I haven't compiled a list of all the applications, but I'm going through them one by one to check their merits, and should have a solid roster of the accepted chars by about five o' clock EST. Between college, work, and my birthday falling during this week, it's been a bit busier than usual.

Life does happen. XD I'll be looking forward to the final list!

LOL, just noticed that GM8574 handled the list thing for me. Awesome possum!

Sorry I didn't get my application in on time (I had a busy night too!). Good luck to everyone!

Happy birthday! I totally get the RL thing too, and understand :) Thanks for the consideration and initial planning of Iron Gods.

blackaeon wrote:

Will you be looking at applications that came in after the list was compiled...?

Spoiler:
Because a sharpshooting Russian who may or may not get cybernetically-enhanced into the Golarion Winter Soldier is exactly what I'm applying with :D

Grand Lodge

Of course. Until my last post announced the cut-off, everyone was still good, so as long as it was in by then, it's in the running. I already have half of the party selected, but there's some really strong candidates. Almost feels like a grim task, so obviously you've all done something right.

Grand Lodge

Oh my God, this is tough. I may take on an extra player just because I can't make this final decision. I actually consider myself lucky I didn't get TOO many applications. Sophie's Choice up in the hizzy.

That bad, eh? I am both pleased and a bit worried by this development. XD Still, it sounds like a good group no matter who gets in, and that's always nice to see!

Grand Lodge

Okay, since I'm not a fan of drawing things out, here goes. The roster for Iron Gods- Dark Singularity are as follows (in no particular order):

Galatea Earthschild
Umina of the Caves
Zstelian
Harumi
Sandovar Rettembre
Hitomi Tanakai

Yes, that's six players. I honestly couldn't make one important decision and, as such, will go with a full roster instead of a quintet. To be honest, I could've picked three different full teams of characters that would have been as engaging as I feel this one is, but it was the backgrounds that really pushed me over the edge. To all of you, I'd like to congratulate you for making this the hardest pbp to ever recruit for that I've seen, and GM 8574, you still have your pick of some seriously awesome recruits if you want them.

I'll have an OOC thread started in a bit so all the players can chat and we can work on concretizing backstory/plot hooks and get everyone up to steam. Then we can begin the game in earnest!

Thanks, blackaeon. Sorry to piggyback, but your criteria are essentially what I would go with, too, so it makes sense.

I'll take a look after work here in an hour or so and propose some thoughts.

Round 2 for selections incoming?

Grand Lodge

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Go for it, this'll be up indefinitely, so I don't care if you recruit right from it. Just means there's a good home for more people to bang out some good roleplay, and that's never a bad thing. Thanks for looking out with the lists!

I'm quite happy to have been selected - and I'll probably expand Harumi's backstory once I see where everyone else is at. ^^ Having some group integration definitely helps.

I've hope you all have fun :)

Wait? Is there another game in'a offin' here's abouts?

*Raises hand and waves madly*

I think that GM 8574 is putting together another game, but I don't think that they have come out and said that on this thread.

Even so, I'd like to get in on it as well.

*Grabs Cinder, continues to wave and begins to jump up and down in bid to attract GM 8574's attention* (^_^)

WAAAH! putmedownputmedownAAAAA!

As bad as a squirrel, you are! :p

Indeed! I am hijacking the thread to recruit from the remaining teams.

If any are still interested, let's try an alternative form of party creation:

1) Look at the remaining applicants
2) Think about who you would want in your party of four PCs (probably including yourself, though
3) Propose that party to me with a short paragraph on why y'all decided to work together to help the town of Torch with it's problems.

I think this will keep me from shoehorning you into a group that you might not like or want to adventure with. Plus, you can go ahead and start collaborating with each other now, rather than waiting for the game.

Sound good?
