Zeljka turned around at Achahut's exclamation and barely had time to ready her weapon before the gargoyle was before her. She took a moment to appraise her attacker before retaliating with a devastating blow of her own.

Nsizi |

Oops, sorry, forgot I was only posting for lizardboy last round. I don't want to throw a spear at close range, I'll repost.
Stepping into the space just vacated by Min, Nsizi used his position to flank the 2nd gargoyle with Achahut. He wasn't sure if his spear would damage the strange creature, but he hoped for the best.

The spear gouged deeply into the creature, and bits of stone and dust pattered on the floor.

Nsizi |

Did Nsizi's attack not do critical damage? I noticed the description of the attack was omitted - are these dudes immune to crits?
Nsizi knew there was nothing to do but keep attacking. He thrust again, hoping they could kill the guardians before anybody was badly hurt.
attack +1spear: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 2 = 16
damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
The spear found its mark, and the creature made an unearthly sound of either pain or anger.

Achahut |

Achahut knew that it was only luck that had kept the two creatures from attacking in a coordinate manner. He needed to kill the one before him, and quickly. Again, he swung the heavy pick, hoping to impale and thus destroy the creature.
+1pick: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
This time his aim was true, and the weapon embedded itself deeply in the enemy's body, leaving a gaping hole when Achahut wrenched it free.

The critical was good, just my oversight for not describing it.
Remember that you have to describe the 'intended results'. :)
I intend to move this along later today.

Zeljka Greenfoot |

Action 2:
Zeljka considered the cage again now that the gargoyles were piles of dust. "The way I see it we have two options, fire or smashing. Or maybe a mixture of both? Weaken the cage with fire and then smash it. I know it may be too cold for regular fire but what about magical or chemical fire? Do we have access to anything like that?"

Minercuria Cicensis |

Min replied with a noncommittal hum. "First, let's see if the ice-cage is magical in nature, or if it's safe to smash through."
cast detect magic on the cage
"I have a couple of alchemist's fires," she replied to Zeljka, "although I'm not sure if they're hot enough to counteract the magic keeping this room so cold. We could try it."

Zeljka Greenfoot |

"I think you should use your last potion, Bufi."
The slayer nods and quaffs her last healing potion.
Feeling much better, Zeljka took a closer look at the bars in case they tried to smash them. If they smashed them, would a trap be triggered? Could they even be broken?
perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
The half-orc addressed Min, "If it can be spared, maybe we try using a flask of alchemist's fire. Achahut and I will be ready to strike the cage seconds after your flask hits."
Of course she won't suggest the above if her perception roll reveals something about the cage that would suggest not to hit it.

Achahut |

When Nsizi translated Zeljka's words, Achahut nodded. He held his pick up and ready to smash. He thought it best to smash first, and try such magics after, but he kept his opinion to himself. He knew nothing of these evil traps and spirits. The apes, being more closely related to spirits, naturally understood their ways better.

Thank you. Misery likes company. :)

Zeljka Greenfoot |

"We could back out of the room, and I could tell Hep to fetch the seed," Min suggested. "She doesn't mind being blown up. If that doesn't work, I could try the dispelling spell from the Praet Memorial Spellbook."
Zeljka grinned, her tusks protruding more so with the action, "I'm in favour of anything that avoids me winding up unconscious on the floor. If you and Hep can deal with the seed, I'm happy to let you try."

Achahut |

Hope you don't mind me posting for Achahut and Nsizi together - I don't want to go back and forth between the two profiles if not necessary.
Achahut looked at the magical rings, but turned his nose up at the offer of one. "I do not need such baubles. Mireborn do not feel the hot or the cold."
Nsizi didn't feel the need to point out that Achahut was currently under the protection of his spell.
Remembering the spirit Hepzibah, Nsizi asked with concern, "Are you sure that Bibi Hepzibah will not be damaged? It would not be good to harm her - she may not come for you next time, or she may be angry."
tag Min
Happy to try Hep first.

Minercuria Cicensis |

Min replied with an unladylike snort. "You should see," she said, "what sorts of things wizards use unseen servants for. Well, you can't see them actually, because they're unseen, but... suffice it to say, I'm quite sure she won't hold a grudge. I think she'll be proud to do her part for Pridon's Hearth. Perhaps I'll even have a small plaque made in her honor to display in the new library alongside the Praet Memorial Spellbook."
Ushering everyone out of the room, Min withdrew her string and stick from her spell component pouch and used them to summon the invisible, mindless, shapeless force she could command. "Hepzibah," she addressed the nonentity firmly, "go right in there and fetch that floating orb out of the ice cage for me."

Minercuria Cicensis |

Achahut looked at the magical rings, but turned his nose up at the offer of one. "I do not need such baubles. Mireborn do not feel the hot or the cold."
Nsizi's spell is working for us for now. When it wears off, we'll probably need to set the rings for hot temperatures if we go down the fire tunnel. I'd suggest giving the rings to Zeljka and Achahut, as the front-liners can least afford nonlethal damage.

"Hepzibah," she addressed the nonentity firmly, "go right in there and fetch that floating orb out of the ice cage for me."
Hep, or something like Hep, entered the icy cage and moved towards the floating orb. The thing pulsed with an inner light as the unseen servant tried to retrieve it. But the gem did not move, no matter how hard Hep tried.
Min knew that the servant would try for hours but if he couldn't pry it loose the first time, there was little chance for it to complete its assigned task.
Achahut looked but did not understand what was going on.

Minercuria Cicensis |

Min sighed. "All right, Hep; no plaque for you. Wait at the door, please. We'll have to try this a more costly way." Pulling out the scroll of dispel magic she got from the lizardfolk, she read the arcane syllables off the parchment and waited expectantly.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Not a high enough roll. Got to love expensive resources which turn out to do nothing. :P
Do any of us even have UMD?

The scroll of dispel magic was part of her top-off to 10,000 gp, picked up here.
Action 2
"Has something followed us?" Min asked in a hoarse whisper.

Nsizi |

Action 1
Nsizi let out a sigh of relief when the crystal shattered without harming any of them. "I hope we can destroy the last two so easily," he said.
Action2
When they heard the sounds coming from the corridor, Nsizi sighed. "It would seem I spoke too soon." Realizing that they needed to know what was there, he said, "Hold here a moment. I will see what is coming."
With an act of will, he vanished from sight. Then he slipped out of the room to see what was approaching.
Invisibility.

Achahut |

Achahut felt his skin crawl at the sound of the...thing approaching. As hard as he tried to control his fear down here, he had a lifetime of superstitions and stories to battle, and it was difficult. He was relieved when Nsizi took the initiative to check it out. He tightened his grip on his pick and waited.

Nsizi had to look twice, not believing what his eyes told him. A giant quivering cube of slime occupied the entire hallway and moved towards him. The thing sloshed through the icy passage at a slow but steady speed...

Nsizi |

Nsizi inched back around the corner and became visible. "You will not believe what I just saw. The whole corridor - it is entirely filled by some sort of jelly or slime. There is no way past it, and it is coming slowly, but steadily. We must be ready to attack, and soon, before we are trapped here."
I assume that it has passed the secret passage already?

"Does anybody know what to do about this thing?" Nsizi asked, stepping back involuntarily. The cube of slush had the inevitable presence of a mountain, and he wasn't at all convinced that it wouldn't spread to fill the room they were in, once it entered. "What can hurt it? Magic? Weapons?"
