Regarding the loot, I think I could take another CLW potion and give the two remaining CLW potions and the neutralize potion to Zeljka. I imagine Min will take the spellbook, so perhaps Nsizi could take the defoliant?

Nsizi looked at the map, and nodded. "Yes, I think visiting the Song'o next is best. But I do not think that we need to keep Achahut away. The Song'o are peaceful, and I believe they will be happy to receive him, and learn the truth of his tribe's actions."

Turning to Achahut, he asked, "Can you ride? I can double with Mina for now, if you would like to take my horse."

The mjusi looked offended, "I already told the gray-skin that I could not ride because of my tail. But I promise to keep up in since your mammals can't go very fast in this sort of environment."

So visiting the Song'o again is what you'll do next unless I hear differently from Min and/or Oz.

I intend to recap later today.

Nsizi inclined his head in apology. "My apologies, Achahut, I did not mean to offend. Indeed, I remember you said as much - my head is still rung from the blow I took yesterday. I do not doubt that you are more than equal to the task. If it were not for our mounts, we no doubt would be left far behind you."

diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

Min acceded to the party's decision to return to the Song'o and ask for further directions.

I can't remember the implications of the map. Are the tar pits and the Ghol-Gan ruins on one side of Pridon's Hearth and the Song'o and cursed temple on the other?

And I believe that Min has already claimed the Praet Memorial Spellbook, unless we picked up another that I missed.

You can see the map under the campaign tab, here. The Ghol Ghan ruins are to the NW of the area, and Achoo said that the temple is to the east of the Song'o.

Sorry, I glanced at the tab but missed that link. In that case, definitely back to the Song'o. I wasn't sure how far away the Ghol-Gan ruins were.

Nsizi shook his head. "No, we will stay together. It is better for our tribe to be as one, rather than enjoy the comforts of the vidogo."

To the others, he said, "I think we need to return to Pridon's Hearth. Perhaps somebody there will have information we need. Shall we ride a bit further in that direction before setting up camp?"

Min lowered her voice and asked, "Do you think that the people of Pridon's Hearth will be any more welcoming to a lizardfolk than the Song'o are? People of his former tribe did just try to inundate the town, and a few of the citizenry objected to our arrival on the Kaava Cutter. I'm afraid strolling into town with Achahut will only create bad feelings on both sides."

Evalina initially had a different opinion than Nsizi, thinking that Achahut might feel a bit awkward by being the responsive of the whole party having to sleep outside but then her other point made a lot of sense, "Well, we don't actually have the luxury of time on our side so if we are not going to spend the night with the Song'o, I think it might be for the best if we can put a couple miles behind us before setting for the night."

To Minercuria, she nodded, "I'm afraid you might be right... on the other hand, we can always ask him to keep away from the town, waiting for us on the woods just northwest of Pridon's Hearth... if we end up having to visit the Ghol-Gan ruin for information, those woods would be on the way anyway."

Female half-orc Slayer/7

The half-orc nodded her agreement to keep going for a bit before making camp. "We could always stay outside of Pridon's Hearth with Achahut. The farm may be a better bet. I think they trust us enough to accept the lizardman."

"Any ideas on how we're supposed to find the location of this cursed temple? I doubt the colony has any more maps than the one they gave us. Unless that abandoned village had some clues that someone at the colony can help us with...maybe translate that journal? It sounded like common but the words made no sense."

Min nodded confidently. "I've a new spell that ought to allow me to read strange languages," she said, patting the Praet Memorial Spellbook in its oilskin wrap. "Let me take a look at it in the morning, once I've had a chance to study."

OZ... we haven't heard from you in three days...

Action 1

"An expedition where? In search of what?" Min pressed. "We have to know where he was headed if we're to have any hope of stumbling across him."

Action 1:

Zeljka added, "Your cleric has vanished. Why do you assume they're dead? If you didn't think them dead, why ask us to collect their money and holy symbol?"

tag Kanjo

Action 2:

Zeljka will leave the summing up to one of the talkers :)

Kanjo responded, "I don't know much because people are being very mysterious regarding what happened. All I know is that he was traveling with the party led by a Miss Hamsa Gadd. Everyone was killed or so I heard."

tag?

"Except for Ms. Gadd," Min replied thoughtfully, not divulging anything they'd learned or grown to suspect. "Did Ms. Gadd tell you where this attack happened?"

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Zeljka remembered the person that the halflings had spoken of that had been taken by the lizardfolk. "What does Magdi look like? It will help us identify whether we find the correct person."

tag Kanjo

male

Knajo was pleasantly surprised that the companions were listening to him and may even help him.

"Magdi was tall and handsome but he died in the mjusi attack. I think Miss Gadd said the attack was east of town but I haven't ventured there. I just want to go home. No one back home knows that Magdi is dead."

Female half-orc Slayer/7

A knot formed in the half-orc's stomach as Kanjo's description of Magdi matches that of the man that the halflings described. She stayed quiet, not wanting to bring the man's character into question. If he was still alive and working with the misguided lizardfolk, they'd run into him soon enough. Then they'd be able to bring back the items to Kanjo that he requested.

Action 1

Nsizi frowned. "What can you tell me of this Magdi? What did he search for? And what is this Gozreh like, that you serve? We do not know his name among the Bas'o."

tag

Action 2

For a long moment, Nsizi hesitated. He didn't know how the Bibi Bosa would take to learning about Hamsa Gadd's possible treachery - or, if not hers, then certainly Magdi Kukoyi. However, if they were going to move forward as a colony and face the threats that were surrounding them, they deserved to know the truth.

So, the Bas'o sat down to his fish, and told her all they'd learned. The conversation with the Song'o and with Achahut, and everything in between.

"Achahut now awaits for us nearby. He and I are hoping that we can find out more about this cursed temple. If we can get there, and stop this Swamp-Speaker, then we believe we can make peace."

He paused, then added, "Can you tell us anything about this Magdi? Or who might now about the temple?"

Action 1

Evalina crossed her arms as the apprentice talked to them, "Hum... you might be his apprentice but I believe his coin purse also pertains to his family... I believe you'd use it only to travel back to your home, correct? Once there you'd return then both your master's holy symbol and his remaining funds to his family, am I correct?"

Action 2

Evalina really enjoyed the food. It was exotic for her more traditional taste but even so it was delicious. She repeated as much as she found it would still be polite but refrained to drink the whiskey... she always felt it was too strong for her.

After Nsizi reported to the sheriff, Evalina nodded before adding, "The bottom line is that we are kind of running against time here... according to Achahut, if we don't find this temple and this Swamp-Speaker quickly, it might be too late. I'm afraid about what 'too late' means in this case..."

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Action 2:

Zeljka enjoyed the hearty meal provided them by the sheriff. She kept her mouth full most of the time so that she wouldn't have to talk. There was still a lot that she didn't understand about what was happening. All she knew is that the sooner they could find this cursed temple, the better.

Action 2

After Nsizi related what they've learned about Hamsa Gadd's expedition, Min asked, "I won't condemn Ms. Gadd for her tale of being the lone survivor. She may well have been ashamed of running and leaving anyone behind. She may well have convinced herself that there could have been no other survivors, given the state of the battle when she escaped. But I must question her insistence that they were attacked by the Song'o. One is hardly likely to mistake a lizardfolk for a halfling, even at a glance."

"I have to ask what I asked when we found the note implicating the Song'o at the fort: What grudge has she against the Song'o? What has she to gain by blaming the halflings rather than the lizardfolk?"

Guys, in general, you do not have to hit every tag. I try to provide at least two opportunities for input but sometimes your PC just is not involved or someone else said/asked to what you wanted to say.

It's OK if you don't post for EVERY tag as long as we can all see that you are still engaged in the game.

Action 3

Min's delight at the invitation back to the count's estate was dampened by its issuance by Hamsa Gadd. "She has to be wondering what we've discovered: what we know, and whom we intend to tell about it," she remarked to the others. "Ought we to be frank about our doubts of her story or let her believe we've discovered nothing that contradicts it? I'm worried that her position of influence with Count Narsus could cause us official problems if she were to wish to discredit us ... or silence us. And we've nothing to accuse her with, no evidence to bring before the count to prove she has any ill intent against the colony."

Adaela shook her head, "I don't know. I would think that saying that your expedition was almost killed by war-like mjusi would be better than saying it was almost wiped out by peaceful Song'o."

Min nodded sagely. "Exactly. There's no shortage of dangerous things out in the jungle ready to kill you. Why not say dinosaurs, or charau-ka, or Mzali? More to the point, why not just say lizardfolk? Unless you particularly don't want to draw attention to the lizardfolk and do want to sow distrust of the Song'o ... perhaps for what they could tell us about the lizardfolk?"

She considered a moment. "What if," she began slowly, "this Magdi Kukoyi and Hamsa Gadd led the expedition into an ambush on purpose? What if they're in league with the lizardfolk and Ms. Gadd's part is to dissuade anyone from investigating what they're up to until it's too late? Akosua was looking for renegade or heretical Gozrens, you recall. What if we've found them? He and she is the god of storms, after all."

Action 1

"Where is home for you and Magdi?" Min asked curiously. "And why did he come to Pridon's Hearth? Specifically to join this ill-fated expedition? Did he know Ms. Gadd before you arrived, or was he merely hired onto the expedition as a convenient healer?"

But this Hamsa Gadd knew something and it was always best to know your enemy. "I guess we need to go to find out what she knows. I'm sure she's planning the same - she wants to know what we know. It would probably be best not to mention everything we've learned and keep things vague." The half-orc was worried that Min may overshare at dinner in order to impress the bureaucrats. She would have to make sure that didn't happen.

"Perhaps she blamed the Song'o because she saw them as she fled and knew that they could contradict her story?" Min followed up. "Or perhaps she merely chose to paint the halflings as a danger because they are known to inhabit the jungles east of the colony and she wished to discourage anyone from exploring in that direction and finding what her expedition failed to locate."

"Still, in that case, she could have invented any sort of fictitious danger in the jungle. Casting the Song'o as the villains seems ludicrous when there are many more intimidating threats. Why not just say that's where the jungle ogres live? Count Narsus is already afraid of them."

Action 1

After the discussion, Nsizi gathered some food and rode back out to meet Achahut. Despite the rain, he preferred it out in the open to the close confines of the town, where they seemed to be getting well-known.

When he met the mjusi, he explained that they would be spending the evening with the count, and hopefully returning the next day to continue the search. Nsizi then broke bread with him, asking "What foods to your tribe like most of all? I find the food here very different than on the plains of the Bas'o. But the fruit is marvellous, and they have some very...interesting...alcohols." He shared a wine-skin with the mjusi, to prove his point.

tag

After a few hours, the Bas'o bit farewell to his strange new friend, and made his way back to town. He felt a knot in his stomach begin to form, as he considered how carefully they would need to tread at the dinner. Suddenly, a thought came to him; Why must we be the uncomfortable ones? Surely I can do something to mix things up a bit.

Action 2
After catching up briefly with his friends, Nsizi made his way to Oyin's Emporium. Bibi Mirya helped him lighten his purse considerably, and then he made his way back to the Stone Hall to change.

purchase courtier's clothes and some makeup and jewelry, 50gp

By the time Nsizi was done with her transformation, she looked like a completely different person. Gone was the bulky wrapped neswambi, gone were the fetishes, straps, and weapons. She looked decidedly womanly in a bright yellow dress than went beautifully with her dark skin. The neckline was low enough to reveal a glimpse of bosom, and a copper necklace with a large red agate stone only emphasized the effect. Her skirt swished satisfyingly as she sashayed down the road. I couldn't have done this only a week ago, before my leg was healed!

Nsizi's dark eyes were lined with kohl, and she'd painted her lips and fingernails red. In short, she was completely transformed.

Linking her arms with Zeljka and Min, she grinned at the others and said, "Well, my friends, shall we go make an impression?"

Action 3

Nsizi was having a hard time not consuming too much wine. She had already imbibed at lunch, and she knew it wouldn't take much to put her over the edge. But it was so good!

When asked for a story, she smiled and said, "Oh, the jungle is fierce! Let me tell you. Ibori, ibori, I'll tell you a story.

"We have travelled to the tar pits, north by the river. We were looking for mjusi - for your lizardfolk, and we found them. Five hulking Mireborn, outcasts of their tribe. What must a lizard do to be expelled from other lizards? We dared not think on it. They attacked like the beasts they are, hurling spears and arrows at us. Their enormous mount, a reptile larger than a yak of the northern savannah, came at us, determined to devour. Our new friend here," she pointed expansively at Evalina, nearly upsetting her wine glass in the process, "was very nearly devoured! But she was faster and smarter than the dumb animal, and with the help of brave Oz's command of ice, she managed to best it while still in its mouth!" She paused here for effect, enjoying their hosts reactions.

Hey, at least you didn't disappear. :)

However, your last post was last Tuesday (7 days ago) and there have been 56 posts since then.

I hate to be a hard-ass but I put some time into the game and expect all my players to do the same. I understand if this is no 'fun' for some people, which is why it's hard to find players for my games.

I have no problem to continue playing with Oz as long as you are able and willing to post at least one decent post per day. This is barring unforeseen circumstances or other excused absences (vacations, etc.). I'm not that psycho.

And please be frank in your assessment of time and enjoyment of the game. I have thick skin. :) Just let me know.
