Sounds likely Rhavenna. Saves a hero point though.
None of us know Hobgoblin so unless The NPC that buffed us or someone else in hawks group happens to get lucky we will have no idea what is happening on that front.
Though my guesses would be retreat or regroup to avoid being horribly maimed by the flying death currently savaging them.
Heres hoping there is a time limit on the creatures summoning. Normal summoned monsters only last 3 rounds for Wallace. But then this summon isn't exactly a normal thing for wallace by any degree, not that he'd tell anyone that.
DM Corerue |
Internet is still sporadic so I am posting them as I go. although they fell out of order sadly. :/
As you will see Dresskel is dead. the last arrows were enough to bring him down completely. You can yell at hawk later, but he was more concerned with not getting a face full of ice. ;)
But theres some rolls needed from Wallace as well. Thanks! :D
Wallace Boyd |
Oh that's perfectly alright, Wallace has some unrealistic expectations when it comes to results. Were he not high on endorphins after getting his face smashed in by a dragon tail I doubt he would have demanded such things.
And hey it all worked out in the end, Dead dragon for processing and some weird ass gem that Wallace is talking to now.
Next thing you know he's going to be referring to it as his 'Precious.'

Rhavenna I'm fairly sure your speed is actually 50. You have the fast quality and quadruped with increases base speed by 10 as well as making you harder to trip.
Which means you get a natural +8 for jumping checks.
If Rhavenna can get Hasted again that would be a 80ft movement or a +20 to jumping. Ontop of her 7 in acrobatics.
Id guess that she would need to make a 8-12ft vertical jump to get over shield/spear goblin. The dc for that would be between 36-48 fro success.
She would also likely provoke from all the nearest spears as she would need to advance pretty much to on top of them to leap over.
Damn impressive if she can manage though.
----
Always sucks when you get picked over others for games.
Wallace Boyd |
Yanno if my mental image on how large this shadow thing is those hobgoblins just provided it a great big channel to turn them all into charcoal. I mean if they are bracing their shields against the floor that is.
Wallace Boyd |
And you are taller than a tower shield, all that my plan needs as they are standing on a stone floor with a wall of steel on either side.
Sounds like a trough to me.
Also as a player and a character not knowing at all what I just summoned I'm just faking it best as I can and hoping it doesn't backfire until the hobgoblin combat is dealt with.
Wallace Boyd |
Cant shield bash with a tower shield.
In most situations, a tower shield provides the indicated shield bonus to your Armor Class. As a standard action, however, you can use a tower shield to grant you total cover until the beginning of your next turn. When using a tower shield in this way, you must choose one edge of your space. That edge is treated as a solid wall for attacks targeting you only. You gain total cover for attacks that pass through this edge and no cover for attacks that do not pass through this edge (see Combat). The shield does not, however, provide cover against targeted spells; a spellcaster can cast a spell on you by targeting the shield you are holding. You cannot bash with a tower shield, nor can you use your shield hand for anything else.
When employing a tower shield in combat, you take a –2 penalty on attack rolls because of the shield's encumbrance.
Worst that happens is they scatter to escape the fire and it becomes an environmental hazard as we pick them off.
Or they stay in formation too long and burn to death. Will really depend on their morale I suppose.
As to the ride check I'd pretty sure Wallace will be in rather severe pain after the rush of this combat wears off.
Never mind what happens if Rhavenna gets hold of a mirror.
then we get to go see what is happening in the tower.
Wallace Boyd |
No worries, know you are busy.
heres hoping this fast tracking does not involve Wallaces accidentally summoned horror deciding to devour us all. That would certainly be fast if what is has been doing to the Hobgoblins is standard.
Wallace Boyd |
Perhaps I should just start adopting a 'Kill'em'all' thought process for Wallace.
Even with a healer kit and rocking wisdom wallaces hands seem to be made for killing. over healing.
*glances over to Void dragon thing*
Not that its a bad thing.
Also, I'm fairly sure that the Enthrall spell has something built in to make people willing to hear you even though you cast a spell on them but I'm rolling the check just to cover my butt anyway.
Wallace Boyd |
being that the DC to kick down a 2in thick solid iron door set in a solid wall is 28 I get the feeling Wallace should duck now lest he would like to be introduced to this particular portal in an intimate fashion.
also very impressive roll Rhavenna

So what are the chances we have a NPC in the area with the Dragoncrafting feat? The new alchemical items are interesting but absolutely not worth burning a feat to access.
There was some cool stuff in the old Draconomicron book about using other parts as well. Dragonbone bows and Blades as examples.
Also means that you don't need to worry about wallace later animating Dresskel's skeleton as a pet if something is done with the bones and the rest of the body.
Wallace Boyd |
Lets hope so, after all she needs to go and show up her Dwarf master at crafting things.
I figure the loot we found is all well and good but we have to bear in mind that it will be divvied by the entire BoD mercenary group.
We will likely get a few of the nicer things but there is no way we will be getting even a tenth of the total value presented.
@Corerue: may I make a heal check to convert portions of the dragons internals and more magic inclined pieces (heart, eyes, throat, gall, bile exct) into either Alchemical materials or Magical item base materials?
Will likely end up claiming them as my share if they demonstrate appreciable value for my purposes.
Oh and is there anything left in the Alchemist lab worth salvaging? I imagine Wallace would want to use it to craft more alchemical items to replace the ones he used today.
He has his own lab but this place looks like it might have some very specific and useful tools.
Wallace Boyd |
Don't suppose that we are anywhere close to reaching a level?
Perhaps on finishing exploration of the castle/ formerly fancy house?
Not much waiting for me but I bet our Magi would love having L2 spells and Rhavenna has Blessings to look forward to.
Wallace Boyd |
Wallace would request a dagger, not for combat so you are welcome to make it out of a chunk of thinner bone. (Would the Fragile weapon quality be fair for that?)
He would likely suggest Livain make Terbutje out of the scrap bone material. They would go over well with druids or worshipers of dark gods effectively being dragon toothed cheese graters for combat.
Also an excellent way to make due with the smaller bones when you run out of ones you can easily make into spear points.
Wallace Boyd |
Anyone else got something they want to say/do the first day? If not I'd vote to skip forward to the next day at some point when Livain is free for a couple hours to scout this hidden basement Wallace just popped open.

Just a note on my other games as the question was asked.
I haven't given up on them, it looks like Tyrn and Cassian are gone from the boards so as regretful as that is I am reorganizing to get them going again. In the mean time I am keeping Iobaria moving forward.
AS for my personal gaming I have only two active games (as a player) now, which should take the work load off me immensely. It's sad as I enjoy playing but honestly I haven't found many that can keep my interest for long because it seems some of the DM's start strong and peter off over time.
If my posts are ever super lackluster please call me out on it. Sometimes I am unsure as to what you do/don't want to see/hear. I'm not trying to ignore anyone and if you were waiting on a response please let me know as always. As I said before I am keeping Iobaria moving.
Expect the other games to be up in another 8 days, I am at home and my wife has some major conventions she is going to this week for her baking business so my time is mostly devoted to housework and kids lol. Apologies~
Skyfall - Will continue unless you have lost interest. Let me know
WotR - Removing a lot of the custom stuff and falling back into the main AP the underground stuff can be done later but now that the party is down three members there is no need to split up. This should stream line things immensely.

Iobaria
After Wallace's next response I will skip to the next morning unless you all want to explore tonight. However I will remind you that the Mercs whoare with you are but a token force (roughly 6-10) who are primarily there to help loot the fortress and aid Bharrog. If you do further delving you will be on your own.
Tadis however, unless told to do otherwise, is sticking with you all.

Thanks guys for your patience and hopefully Iobaria hasn't been too bad.

There should think that should be sufficently Chaucer-ish speech to end all this gloom with.
As to the other games, I'm very excited to have a chance to run my lovely half orc again. Though getting a follower to help us handle traps would be nice as I believe with the loss of our drop ninja we no longer have the capacity to deal with them as a group. Cleric, sorcerer, blade master and shoot-y orc sound like fun party barring traps though.
I'd vote to ride out the arc we are on be for moving on, I personally thought the mongrelman arc was really cool. Plus we all gained a nemesis in the form of a vindictive shadow demon. That should make for some future fun times.
Wallace Boyd |
Just as a mention, we found a 40gallon cask of ale and 15 bottles of wine amongst the loot here. Old as this place is I'm betting some of that will be good quality if the wine cellar/storage devices survived in tact.
Though the real question is how long does it take two Dragon kin, a Centuar, Twelve thirsty humans and a dwarf made mostly of gristle to polish off 40 Gallons of ale?
Only just now realizing the irksome typos in my recent post. *glare* grumble grumble.
Livain |
So since their aren't any particular weapons being chosen. I'm thinking a dagger for each of us commemorating the death of Dresskel, as many arrow heads as I can make cause dragon bone arrows...how cool is that?!?!? And last but not least armor for each of us except the angry red scaly one but only because he can't wear armor but I'll try to make him something anyway.
Wallace Boyd |
I can't think of any amazing weapons for wallace to be made out of dragon bone. The only thing other than a dagger or a mace I plan on him using is a longspear. And that will only be when he has the banner of kings so he can count his spear as a flag for the flagbearer feat and becomes the ultra-buffer.
I have ideas for a thin dragon bone dagger used as a ritual knife for Wallace's crazy god but thats basically it for me.
I would mention that with none of us wanting weapons that if Corerue wants to roll with it dragon bone bows from the draconomicrom add 20ft of range to any weapon made from it making Livain's Long bow have a 130ft.
Dragonbone weapons from the same book also caused one pound of extraordinary elemental damage on top of normal damage when used.
Once we get money I had wanted to make a magic item of the dragons heart/heart blood to grant temporary HP and minor cold resistance once a day or something like that.
I also think Scarves made from dragon skin could be a fun little trophy as daggers are unlikely to be used but minor clothing like that can easily be worn with no effort.
